Englewood is a census-designated place (CDP) straddling both Charlotte and Sarasota counties on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Being a part of two counties, it falls into two metropolitan areas. The section in Charlotte County is part of the Punta Gorda Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the other portion in Sarasota County forms a part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Sarasota end is under the Englewood Community Redevelopment Area, a special district created in 1999.

 

The scenic community of Englewood had a population of almost 15,000 as of 2010. It had more than 8,000 households and 5,000 families as of 2000 census. There were about 10,500 housing units and the population density was put at 1,648 per square mile. Median household income in the CDP stood at $31,800 and per capita income was $23,462.
