Wesley Chapel, Florida
Wesley Chapel is a large community in Pasco County, Florida. It appeals to many of its residents with its location about 25 miles north of Downtown Tampa and proximity to some other major cities. The census-designated place (CDP) is also close to both Interstate 75 and Interstate 275. It is part of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area.
The community, which was originally named Double Branch for the twin creeks in the area, has its present name inspired by the Methodist chapel located on the corner of Boyette Road and SR 54. Wesley Chapel has experienced rapid growth in recent years, with new residents populating areas such as Brookville, Seven Oaks, Watergrass, Meadow Pointe and Saddlewood. With a population of about 46,000 people, the CDP is big enough to be officially described as a medium-sized city, being the 68th-largest community in the state of Florida.
Efforts by some residents to incorporate Wesley Chapel in 2003 never saw the light of day. The CDP would have been the largest in Pasco County if the attempt had been successful. It is a major reason why Pasco County is ranked among the fastest-growing counties in the United States. White Chapel was listed among the "8 Boomtowns of 2008" in the annual list by Gadberry Group.
Most of the real estate stock in the community is relatively new, which is indicative of the influx of people driving up the population count around here since 2000. This could be taken as a sign of availability of essential amenities and a strong local economy. There is a wide variety of homes, ranging from single-family houses to starter homes and townhouses. Wesley Chapel offers a more affordable market to home buyers who are interested in acquiring property around the Tampa Bay Area.
The CDP boasts of highly-educated residents. About 37 percent of adult residents have a Bachelor's degree or higher qualification. As a result, many people work on white-collar jobs. Telecommuters, who include those in knowledge-based professions, make up a somewhat significant portion of workers in the community. Per capita income in Wesley Chapel was $28,837 in 2010 - upper middle income in the state and nation. Median household income stood at over $71,000.
A major attraction in the community is the Saddlebrook Golf Course where you can enjoy top-notch golfing. Wesley Chapel residents enjoy access to several parks and preserves, including Crews Lake Wilderness Park, Cypress Creek Preserve and Jay Starkey Preserve. Numerous shops and restaurants in the area offer opportunities for exciting shopping and mouthwatering dining. The proximity of the CDP to cities such as Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg means first-class entertainment will never be out of reach.
Wesley Chapel has a strong educational community. There are two middle schools and two high schools in the area, with one of each only constructed in recent years to deal with overcrowding. Higher education is provided at the Porter Campus of Pasco-Hernando State College at Wiregrass, Saint Leo University and Nova Southeastern University.
Wesley Chapel is an ideal place to raise a family. There are many other families here, giving both parents and their children opportunity to meet new people. The environment is perfect for families that place a high value on education and the crime rate is on the low side.
