Positioned in the proximity of Georgia's Hospitality Highway, Dawsonville is a small city in Dawson County, for which it serves as county seat. The city is home to former NASCAR driver Bill Elliot, an inductee of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and his son Chase, who races in the Sprint Cup series. Racing skills of many residents was originally attributed to moonshine activity around the community, which celebrates Mountain Moonshine Festival every October.

 

Dawsonville is the location of the Southern Terminus of the about 2,150-mile long Appalachian Trail, so you are not far away from the best of hiking experience. In the proximity of the community is Amicalola Falls State Park, which is regarded as one of Georgia's seven natural wonders, with a waterfall flowing from a height of about 730 feet into a reflection pool below. The Etowah and Amicalola rivers offer opportunity for paddling. You can also enjoy bird watching in your spare time.
