Snellville is a midsize city in Gwinnett County Georgia, located 18 miles east of Atlanta’s downtown core. In 2012, Snellville Days was voted best of Gwinnett.            

 

Briscoe Park is again the site of another manifestation of Snellville’s amazing community spirit – the Community Garden. The community garden allows residents to grow food for their own consumption however, many in the town donate the food to local charities. The garden is currently undergoing expansion and will soon feature a greenhouse, pavilions, tool barns and an amphitheater.

 

Snellville has a thriving arts and culture scene which features amazing live performances all year-round. The New London Theatre Group performs plays and musicals all throughout the calendar year. Local residents are consistently entertained with everything ranging from Shakespearean plays, to Neil Simon productions, to Broadway musical revivals.

 

There’s also a strong culture of dance in the local community. The Gwinnett Ballet Theatre, now located in nearby Lawrenceville, had its roots in Snellville. Young and aspiring dancers perform in the annual Rhapsody Musical which is put on by a local dance school.

 

Schools in Snellville are administered by the Gwinnett County School District. The district is the largest in the state of Georgia, serving more than 178,000 students.
