At one point in time there was a dance hall located here that served the Quantico Marines. Back during this time the Mary Washington College girls were not allowed to drink within ten miles of their school. This log cabin was a little more than 10 miles away from that school so this space became a well known tavern. Then in 1979 the third generation of Mitchells turned this tavern into a seafood and steak restaurant. Since then it has become known as one of the best places to eat in Stafford.
