    Private Vacation Home
Texas Hill Country Family Getaway at Hunt Vacation House, S Fork Guadalupe River
    Hunt, Texas, United States

Hunt Vacation House is a beautiful family sized home with easy and private Guadalupe River access, a two minute walk away. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Texas Hill Country. We’re ten minutes west of Hunt along one of the prettiest stretches of country road in Texas – convenient to both summer camps and off-season activities. brbrWe're high enough on the hill to have tree top views of the Guadalupe River Valley and just a short hike down the trail to our home owner association river park with kayaks, floating dock, barbecue and picnic tables. The river is about 3 feet deep in front of our dock and shallower on either side for little kiddos to wade in or to put in kayaks.brbrThe house will sleep nine including children: There is a queen bed and private bathroom with tub in the master. The upstairs bedroom has its own balcony and private bathroom with shower. The middle two bedrooms have a trundle bed (2 singles - great for kids), a single and double bed and share a bath with laundry room. brbrThe dining area seats eight – six at the table and two at the breakfast bar. The family room has a high beam ceiling and a glass paned door with sidelights to enjoy the view and let the breeze in. If you can’t leave your technology at home there is wireless internet and satellite TV. The house has every amenity needed for a comfortable stay (oven, fridge, dishwasher, fresh linens, etc). Just bring some groceries, a bathing suit and free time to enjoy it!brbrOutside we have two spacious decks with Hill Country views. Drink your morning coffee on the side deck and watch the sun rise. Enjoy an evening glass of wine while star gazing on the front deck. Guests often see deer and fox passing through the yard. There is a hammock, a porch swing, and outside eating area with gas grill. brbrSmall dogs considered individually: We understand that pets are a part of the family. At the same time, we have to keep in mind that guests with allergies cannot tolerate any trace of a pet in the house. Dogs weighing less than 20 pounds will be allowed on prior approval only with a pet charge of $10 per day per pet, $500 refundable pet deposit, and a non-refundable pet cleaning fee of $50. No cats. Pet fees will be due via an additional payment request if you use the Instant Booking option.brbrWe just got a wifi extender so wifi is good on the deck and outdoors. Verizon & ATT cell service is good at the house, but not at the river park or on the road. No guarantee though, this is the country. brThanks y'all,brHunt Vacation House Familybrbrbrbr brbrbrbrbrKeywords: Cabin, house, Hunt, Guadalupe River, river access, Hunt Vacation House Read More

    Cabin
"Top 11 coolest cabins in Texas" tripstodiscover.com
    Hunt, Texas, United States

brWith it's high elevation and unique design, Hilltop Cabin is the most unique home you will find in the Guadalupe South Fork area. Where else can you find such a charming home with expansive views, wooded privacy and private river access? What more could you ask for? The Cabin is loaded with both hill country charm, and modern amenities. This is a full size home that leaves nothing to be desired, while providing the charm and fun of a rustic Texas hill country cabin. There are 3 bedrooms, all with queen beds, and each with its own full bathroom, comfortably sleeping a total of 6 adults. There is also a full sleeping sofa and several blow up mattresses and a half bath downstairs for additional sleeping arrangements for several children. The kitchen and dining areas are very large, which make for great meal prepping and gathering for large groups. The laundry room is what you would expect to find in a larger home, with a full size washer and dryer. The main living space is large enough for a big gathering with plenty of places for everyone to gather around the wood burning fireplace. We keep the house well stocked with toiletries including wet wipes, toilet paper as well as shampoo, conditioner and his and hers body washes for your convenience. Outdoor living spaces include multiple options for sun and shade as needed. A large porch sits off of the main living space with rocking chairs and ceiling fans. From this porch you can step down to a large outdoor gathering area with plenty of seating and a fire pit. We have extensive decking in the back of the house with seating right off of the dining area, upper decking with two picnic tables under cover , as well as a large charcoal barbecue pit for outdoor grilling. There is a wrap around porch along the front and side of the house with chairs and a bench swing to take in the hilltop views across the Guadalupe River Valley. There are also several sitting areas around the 2.5 acres for enjoying the many different areas of the secluded and private property. Although the property is not riverfront, the private river park is a quick 3-5 minute walk from the front door (we've timed it). You can also access the park via a shorter drive for anyone that has mobility issues. The River Inn Crossing section of the Guadalupe is at the headwaters of the south fork, giving you the cleanest, clearest water that the river has to offer. The depth and width of the river in this section is perfect for all water activities. Many other sections of the river are either too shallow for swimming and canoeing, or too narrow for real exploring. An added bonus this far up the river is the clarity of the water. On a typical day, the water is virtually as clear as a swimming pool. This is one of the only locations on the Guadalupe where snorkeling is a real option, so don't let the kids forget their goggles. Parents won't have to worry about the little ones, because you can see straight to the bottom, and the average depth in front of the park is about 3.5 feet. There is also a very neat section where you can get out of the kayaks and walk around and explore the shallow channels and pools (probably our kids favorite spot). Although the cabin is far enough out that you have true privacy, serenity and quiet, it is a perfect home base for hitting all of the different places that people like to go. You can make a quick and very picturesque 25 min drive over to Vanderpool for a couple of hours of hiking or picnicking at Lost Maples State Park. You can head over to Fredericksburg, which is only 20 minutes from Kerrville, and spend a few hours shopping or antiquing. Maybe you want to go horseback riding or fishing in another location. Maybe you are a motorcyclist and want to hit the infamous Twisted Sisters which are very close to Hwy 39.. Then again, maybe you just want to hang at the river and cabin, and get a full weekend of relaxation in, while the kids wear themselves out with all the fun and activities. The great thing about staying at the cabin, is that the activities are endless and are all right at your fingertips. You may also enjoy the various type of wildlife around the cabin and area. You can always hop on I-10 and go to San Antonio for Fiesta Texas / Sea World or shopping at La Cantera and more.  brbrPlease Note: brThere are 2 houses on the property: br1.) the owner’s vacation home - closest to the river andbr2.) the cabin - Vaden Hunt HousebrbrThe family comes to the vacation home occasionally. But it will not be rented to other guests. brbrbrA letter from the family to guests:brbrWe welcome you to this beautiful, friendly and peaceful part of the Texas Hill Country that has been a part of our family since 1962. The property is located on the South Fork of the Guadalupe River, the source of which is just a few miles away. Here, walk down to the river’s edge with your first cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy the beautiful, colorful and quiet sunrise. After breakfast, grab your float and enjoy the day swimming, fishing or boating in the fresh water of the river, and in the evening take your chairs into the yard and look up at the sky – the number of stars will amaze you. This is a place to relax and have fun. It is wonderful for friends or family weekends to get away from it all, cook together, explore nearby towns, and take long drives in the country. There are hillsides to explore, dinosaur tracks to spot, lots of rock hunting and long walks or runs in the fresh air. There are swings in the front yard that once were the swings for the 12 rock cabins that comprised the small resort of Marymeade. In the summer weekends, there is live music and great food on the patio of The Hunt Store, a rodeo and dance with a live band and dinner at Crider’s each Saturday night, outdoor plays at the Point Theatre in Ingram along with art camps and activities for all ages at the nearby Hill Country Arts Foundation, and a welcome sense of another time. For most of our lives as children, these were the things that we loved and looked forward to and they have become our family traditions with our own children. We played cards and games at night as a family and with friends, made brownies, cookies and homemade ice cream, grilled outside, and in the cold months, made fires in the fireplace. On each trip, we always made the drive to Lost Maples State Area to walk the trails and look for deer in the fields along the way. In the log house, you may see a few family photos of years past – a photo of our grandfather as a young man on a white horse, born and raised on a ranch in Menard, Texas. Another of a family card game played at the dining room table in this house, and perhaps one more of us as children getting saddled up for a trail ride at the horse barn that, in our era, was down the road. We invite you to enjoy this lovely part of the world and create your own traditions with family and friends. Bring your guitars. Visit Stonehenge in Ingram. Find that favorite homemade ice cream recipe, bring the ingredients with a box of regular salt and a small bag of ice. We have the ice cream freezer at the house for your use! Welcome.br Read More
