LIVE IN NATURE - WALK TO TOWN- CHILDREN LOVE US- SIT BY THE CAMP FIRE
Woodstock, New York, United States
The Pike Lane Cabin is nestled in the woods situated on seven acres of quiet natural beauty yet minutes waking distance down the shaded lane to the center of Woodstock. The property was once owned by the renowned water color painter, John Pike, where he taught his hugely popular painting classes in the space which is now our home and art studios. The land itself which has a stream, waterfall, ponds and mountain views is a perfect spot for plein air painters, and contemplation. The cabin is next door to our home separated by fence and thick wisteria with its own yard, screened porch with barbecue, and dining area as well a large fire pit for quiet night time marshmallows and wine.brbrA path leads to the upper property where our family is creating pollinating fields of grasses for the butterflies. brbrWhile staying at The Pike Lane Cabin, you will have all the quiet and privacy you desire in this magical woodland setting. We are an easy walk to the Town of Woodstock and just up the road from a great independent movie theater Upstate Films and Woodstock Pizza Theater (the best pizza in the area!). Legendary Woodstock NY is the perfect getaway town, just 1 1/2 hours North of New York City and is packed with shops, restaurants, cafe's, historic landmarks, hiking trails, swimming holes, bike rentals, yoga, music and theater venues including the Colony Cafe, galleries, waterfalls, street events, natural food store, Woodstock Art Museum, and The Byrdcliffe Artist Guild.brbrAt The Pike Lane Cabin, your privacy is priority. We are here for your needs and offer housekeeping upon your request. We then step back and allow you to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful spot.brbrAbout us:brElizabeth and I are both artists as one of our several professions.brMy sons Manu and Darin both live here and help manage the property, and help make your arrival and stay easy.brDarin will be your primary contact.brbrWoodstock NY- Welcome to “America’s most famous small town.”brIronically, the 1969 music festival happened in Bethel 43 miles up the road. Nevertheless Woodstock pays great homage that legacy. This wonderful town is a hotbed of artisan delights - live, inspired art and culinary wonder.brMain street is the quintessential American small town; lovely shops, clapboard sided churches, an old-fashioned Village Green where residents and visitors gather for events, talk, people watching, and quench that thirst for that “good old days” feeling that modern day suburbia has paved over.brSurrounding this classic conventional small town exterior is the unsurpassed beauty of Mother Nature. Her mountains, streams, lakes and waterfalls release the creativity in all who reside here - from local tradespeople (stone masons and furniture makers) to the artists (screenwriters, composers, actors, printmakers, painters, photographers, filmmakers, poets, novelists) and of course our beloved musicians – from the not so famous, to the those whose recordings most likely shuffle in your iTunes, to just "us regular folk" who thrive being surrounded by all this amazing energy. It is this laid-back convergence, which gives Woodstock its individuality.brbrWoodstock is a place of learning and growth. Spend some time here and you’ll soon find yourself sitting in one of the restaurants in town, greeting friends as they come in and holding an impromptu salon on a hot topic of the day. But if you prefer to simply be left alone with your thoughts or to collect rocks from the stream in your back yard, this is place to do all of that.brbrLeave your car at home and take the Adirondack Trailways Bus to the village green in Woodstock. From there we are an easy walk. We also offer private off-street parking for up to two vehicles.brbrUnwind from the day, grab your favorite beverage and gather around our grand fire pit for a campfire, stargazing and smores!
