Private Vacation Home
Modern home on 30 private acres for families with style and a love of nature.
Ancram, New York, United States
Only two hours from NYC, our home is a labor of love: a converted 1960's concrete barn that now feels like a modern loft in a private valley. Situated at the top of a small hill, the house overlooks 30 acres of meadow split in half by a stream. A covered porch (and an outdoor shower) look out over this spectacular view. brbrThe kitchen, dining, and living area is all one, open space, with 16-foot ceilings at the high point. brbrThe three bedrooms are: Master = king size bed, single bed with trundle single; guest 1 = queen size bed, single bed; guest 2 = queen size bed, single bed.brbrThe bathroom features an oversize concrete tub for two (or one extremely tall person).brbrThe floors are all concrete, which makes for a wonderfully cool environment in the summer. There are ceiling fans, and there is almost always a lovely breeze up on the hill—in short, we have never needed AC.brbrThe stunning land is the star of the show most of the time in the summer: we take all our meals on the porch and spend days there just reading and watching hawks sweep through the valley. The outdoor shower also looks out over the main view and is a glorious way to start the day.brbrA walk down the valley from the house to the stream, up the other side, and back is a reasonably nice long hike. brbrThe house is 20-25 minutes from Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Hudson, and Salisbury, CT. All the historic homes, hikes, lakes, waterfalls, and delicious restaurants are all within the area. brbrWasher/Dryer/Dishwasher/large monitor with DVD collection (no cable TV)/wireless internet/wood burning stove/gas grill.
