Please don't hesitate to call for more photos or information: gpitchford @ deltamanagement . com. brbrGREEN / SUSTAINABILITY:brProfessionally, I'm fully engaged in helping to drive a transition to a low carbon economy in Canada, while trying to walk the talk in Cape Cod - and making it easy for our guests to do the same. All our electricity is from all renewable sources (wind / solar), our lighting is 95% LEDs, and we try to make it easier for you to have a greener vacation with recycling bins and pick up, as well as great grocery bins you can use to eliminate all bags when shopping. All the appliances are the lowest energy consumers available, (or were when purchased) and we practice "green" landscaping: no fertilizers and longer grass to fully eliminate the need for watering the last 7 seasons. The Cape is a very special place - we try to do our best to keep it that way - both for my own future grand-children (I hope will come soon!) - and for yours. brbrHOUSE DETAILS:brThe house is about 2000 sf of living space: 2 full stories with four bedrooms, 2.5 baths and outdoor shower, plus a full height, fully finished basement with a walkout to a large side yard. There is also a fair sized back yard, and decks both front and back. The lot itself is about a half acre, and is an odd shape, but offers kids lots of room for catch, frisbee, even volleyball or badminton. There is a bike rack at the side. Plus laundry, dishwasher, air conditioning etc etc. brbrThe GROUND FLOOR consists of a large combination kitchen that flows into the dining room, taking up the back(south) side. Each bedroom has a window air conditioner that ensures a good night's rest, even when the Cape gets sticky. Both Bedroom 1 and bedroom 2 feature queen size beds with their own flat screen TVs on cable. brbrThe south facing "Bunk room" is a pair of twins on beautiful built in teak bunks, with walls covered in actual navigation charts of the Cape and the east coast: Perfect for the kids. The bathroom with shower also offers great privacy for an au pair, or visiting grand parents.brbrNOTE: Linens and cleaning available at additional cost.brbrThe beach: is absolutely great - long & wide, a nice sandy bottom & suitable for adult or child swimmers and offers the warmest salt water on Cape Cod. Mids 70s by early July.brbrAll in all, a super comfortable, well equipped home by the beach, guaranteed to make your family's vacation special.brbrThe Campgrounds: In case you are not familiar, here's a little history. The Campgrounds got their name from religious gatherings that used to take place in the immediate vicinity back in the early / mid-19th century. There were several meeting areas on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Various visiting preachers would come and preach to summer visitors who would camp nearby (hence "Camp Grounds"). The Harwich Port camp ground was called "Ocean Grove" (hence "Ocean Street" and our street - formerly "Main Street" and now Grove Street). brbrIf you stroll the neighborhood to the west, you'll see all the tiny little lots that used to hold tents, and then eventually cottages, Many are in the process of being ripped and replaced, but the tiny lots remain. brbrThe creators of the area trucked in sand using horses and wagons, and built an amphitheatre facing north. The faithful would journey from Boston and New York, and gather on the man-made hillside to hear sermons that lasted all afternoon (sounds like a waste of a good beach!). Seawind is built on that slope, and the property is the actual meeting ground! brbrAccording to the Harwich historical Society, Seawind is the actual site of the first abolitionist meeting in New England that ultimately led to the civil war! In some ways, essentially the birthplace of the original "Black lives matter"... There's an old plot plan of the neighborhood framed on the second floor, if you're interested, and the Historical society has numerous pictures of the meetings in progress. Worth a visit on a rainy day... brbrMany of the trees on the property now are over 200 years old - and witnessed all that! brbrYou and your family can come and make your own memories...
