My Old Kentucky Home Cabin
Union, Kentucky, United States
My Old Kentucky Home...brbrBuilt for each of our parents, that used to live in Alaska, so that they had a place to relax while on extended stays.br brLocated on our property (far from the house) is one of Boone Counties Historic grave sites for the Smith family. brbrThe Shack is located directly behind our main house, and we live here year around. We have 6 dogs with us on our property that love chasing the birds, deer and rabbits that show up. brbrWe felt like it would be fun to build what looked like the “old Smith shack”, but with all the modern luxury. We think we accomplished our objective. The house uses old barn beams that are from a barn in Indiana that housed Morgans Raiders in the Civil War. http:// war/general-morgan-s-raid-on-indiana. We used tobacco sticks from a local families barns as the isles for the railing of the loft. Even the stove is “old timey”. We combined this with custom built cabinets in the galley kitchen and an old school shower head that ‘lets water flow’.brbrThe shack will take you back to a bygone era as you curl up and read a book in front of the wood burning stove, relax on the porch rocking chairs, or sleep in late after a full day enjoying the activities of Northern Kentucky.brbrLoft has queen size blow up mattress that can be set up to be used upstairs or downstairs!brbrWE ARE 14 MILES FROM THE CREATION MUSEUM AND 31 MILES FROM THE ARK ENCOUNTER! brbr**We do not allow for large gatherings here. If you are wanting to rent the shack and have a bunch of people over to host a party, this is not the place to do it. brbr**No parties here. This is a private home where we live. If you are looking for a place to play loud music and get rowdy and party, this is not the place for you. brbr**Please note: the loft has very steep stairs and if you are considering using this space, make sure you are fit and able to use these steps. Not recommended for families with very young children**
