Villa Pacifica is a 5 bedroom 5.5 bathroom oceanfront home in Guánica. Villa Pacifica was redecorated in 2023 with the goal of delivering a refreshed take on the unique charm of Mary Lee’s by the Sea, which has been hosting guests since 1967. The home comfortably sleeps 10 guests and boasts a balcony overlooking the Caribbean Sea, en-suite bathrooms in all bedrooms, an interior patio with gas BBQ, a 6 person spa, 5 kayaks, and a dock than can accommodate vessels up to 23 feet. There is AC throughout the home and Wi-Fi (which can be spotty at times due to the location). Located within the National Dry Forest of Guánica, this home is ideal for cycling, kayaking, and fishing aficionados. brbrKAYAKSbrbrVilla Pacifica includes 5 double kayaks in the rental rate with life vests for up to 10 passengers. Guests must agree to mind the weather conditions, only use the kayaks at their own risk, and to always wear life vests. There are no lifeguards on duty. brbrICEbrbrIce is a must when staying by the ocean. We have a chest freezer with ice bags for guest use. There are some coolers as well for your day trips. brbrWATER SHOESbrbrWe recommend guests bring water shoes. The seabed off the dock has a grassy floor and most people prefer to have water shoes on. brbrSTAFF ON SITE brbrOur property keeper and house keeper will be at the property during the day cleaning common areas, doing yard work, and maybe even offering a complimentary clean (weekdays only pending availability). The property keeper has as separate apartment below the house and may spend the night on occasion.brbrUSE OF THE DOCKbrbrThe dock is yours to use as much as you like but this space is not exclusive. We sometimes grant dock access to neighbors, the owner of the home, and the property keeper during guest stays. brbrGETTING AROUND AND PARKINGbrbrRenting a car is a must when staying at Villa Pacifica. There are no taxis or Ubers. There is space for 3 vehicles in front of the property. brbrCOMMON AREASbrbrVilla Pacifica has ample space for large groups. There is a formal living room overlooking the balcony with seating for 6 and a flat screen TV. The balcony has a 6 person outdoor dining table and chaise lounges for sunbathing. The dining table seats 8 and is directly besides the kitchen which has seating 4 more guests at the kitchen counter. The kitchen has a full size fridge with ice maker, an additional under counter fridge, stove, oven, and microwave. There is an interior patio with a gas grill and seating. A separate family room with flat screen TV. The third bedroom, which also is accessed from inside the home, has a queen bed, desk, and en-suit bathroom. The fourth and fifth bedrooms are more of an au-pair setup since they are accessed separate to the home. The fourth bedroom can be accessed from the front of the house or the patio and has a king bed, flat screen TV and en-suite bathroom. The fifth bedroom is accessed via the patio and boasts a large private balcony, kitchenette with microwave and coffee maker, and en suite bathroom. brbrTHINGS TO DObrbrGuánica Puerto Rico is definitely off the beaten path but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many things to do. Here are some of our favorites: brbrKayak to Gilligan’s Island. It is 10 minutes away and is gorgeous. We recommend leaving before 10 am before the wind picks up. Kayaking to the island is against the wind, and the way back is with the wind. So if you leave early you can get there easily without fighting the wind. If the wind picks up while you are there, it will push you back to shore. brbrHike or mountain bike the Bosque Seco de Guanica trail. The Bosque Seco de Guanica is a state park that is unique in the United States. The dry forest, beaches, and cliffs you will find are very picturesque. We recommend doing this early in the morning before it gets too hot. brbrCheck out the bioluminescent water from the dock. This doesn’t happen all the time and you need a new moon (no moonlight). Head down to the dock when it gets dark and splash the water. If you are lucky, you’ll see some pretty cool bioluminescence. brbrDo a day trip to Playa Santa, enjoy the beach, and have lunch at Umami. This white sand beach is a 15 minute drive away. It gets crowded on the weekend so this is an ideal activity for weekdays where you will have the beach almost to yourself. Umami is open for lunch and early dinner from Thursday to Sunday and they take reservations.brbrVisit La Parguera for dinner and nightLife. One of our favorites is the Yacht Club at La Parguera for dinner and from there you can stroll downtown for live music, drinks and dancing. This is about 30 minutes away. brbrHit Copamarina Hotel for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is 5 minutes away from the property and a great option if you want nearby food and drinks. brbrTRAVEL INSURANCEbrbrWe strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, especially during the peak months of Hurricane Season, which are July to October. Travel insurance is inexpensive and will reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, this will depend on what the coverage purchased covers. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase. Disclaimer: we are not associated with any travel insurance companies. brbrAMENITIESbrbrVilla Pacifica includes paper goods, garbage bags, and bathroom amenities to get you started. You may need to buy some more of these items at the grocery store if you are staying for more then 3 nights but feel free to reach out to us first just in case we have extra supplies at the property.
