The location doesn't get any better than this. Full of beauty and wonder.brbrBuilt in 1907, the historic Dr. John Andrews House is an architectural gem. Even though there has been significant remodeling done, the home retains its historic Queen Anne detailing and charm. Guests will be delighted by the blend of old and new, historic and modern, vintage and practical.brbrYour host, Steffi, is a vintage enthusiast. I believe the most sustainable goods are those already in existence. So, I rehabilitate, restore, repurpose, and sell vintage household items. Everything in The Vintage Haus is sustainable. Almost everything in The Vintage Haus is for sale, too! Just let me know if something strikes your fancy, and we can work out a deal for it to find a new home at your home!brbrI have curated the highest quality items for your enjoyment and use. It’s why the purple towels in the bathroom aren’t all the same color purple. The whole house is made of high quality, heirloom items that have been given new purpose, new life.brbrBut don’t worry, you may feel like a queen sleeping in an amazing canopy bed from the 19th century, but I assure you that it has a 21st century mattress. No horsehair!brbrThe best part about that? It makes The Vintage Haus interesting! It’s not the same as every other place. In some ways it’s kind of like walking through a museum. I have many displays of things from the past. My kids call them curiosities. To me, they’re nostalgic, or eye-opening, or fascinating. Old barber shop bottles, old toiletries, an old first aid kit, old cameras, old kitchen tools, old sewing items, old records and phonographs and radios, old encyclopedias (yes, Gen Z, these were Gen X’s Google!), old books. So many old books. They are beautiful! And fascinating. You can sit for hours in one of the cozy reading nooks, and just get lost in books. Or, relax and listen to records. The living room has lovely comfy couches and chairs, and the back corner has a little secret. Hundreds of all different kinds of records, and a vintage Fisher stereo system to play them on! I have included a wide assortment of genres of music. An eclectic and interesting mix, sure to keep you entertained for hours! Did you know that Englebert Humperdinck was a heartthrob? Because I didn’t!brbrThe loft area is full of interesting things, too. There are vintage games and toys, but there are also lots of modern toys for your kids to play with! A whole Brio train set to go crazy with! There are children’s toys and lots of picture books, also a wide assortment of young adult fiction. We even have a bunch of old movies on VHS (Be Kind, Rewind!). The reading nook is full of fluffy pillows and a comfy couch, so you can relax and either read a novel, or browse the myriad of interesting books. Sure to make you exclaim in wonder!brbrThe Vintage Haus is different. It’s got a fantastic, cool, classy, cheerful, sunny, elegant, nostalgic, old-fashioned vibe. Fascinating things around every corner!brbrWe have blended the modern conveniences we love, with the craftsmanship of the past. I call it Old World Modern.
