Our 1,500 sq ft, 2 bedroom (queen beds), 2 bath, custom home was built in 2007 and offers the most privacy and seclusion of any property near Purgatory Ski Area as it sits on 132 acres, yet is less than 2 miles from the ski resort, and 25 miles from downtown Durango.brbrThe gourmet kitchen has stainless steel appliances. The main living space and master bedroom feature 55 inch flat screen TV's with 5.1 surround sound. The leather couch in the main living space converts to an incredibly comfortable and supportive queen bed. The large covered porch is a great place for lounging and watching the sun disappear over the mountains in the evening. The house is surrounded front and back with Colorado Rocky Mountain Wildflowers.brbrThe property boarders the Weminuche National Forest to the North and East, which is the largest and most unused wilderness area in North America. There are numerous lakes and ponds on the property, and a road to higher elevations where the views of the surrounding mountains and lakes are spectacular.brbrIf you bring your dog, it will have a great time chasing wildlife and playing in the forest.brbrIf you need more space, we have a 3 Bedroom 3 bath on the property about 1/4 mile from this house. brbrA 4WD/AWD with snow rated tires is required November through March. The Julia Rose West is a month to month fully furnished rental and is the west side of a duplex of an historic home in Old Town Durango. We have a city permitted short term rental on the East side of this duplex. We can send you the listing if you would like to see that as an option.brYou will be walking into a spotlessly cleaned and disinfected space at your check-in. brThere are handrails at the front and back entrances. brThe Julia Rose is named after our middle daughter and the beautiful Pink Rose bushes in the front and backyard. Built in 1898, this historic Victorian home has recently been updated with contemporary elements and has a nice blend of old with the new. There is a remodeled kitchen and bath and newly finished wood flooring, paint, window coverings, furnishings and appliances including a washer/dryer and very quiet dishwasher. brThe Living Room is the largest area in the home and has a Queen Murphy Bed, a sofa, side chair and a separate desk area. There is a wall mounted mini split for A/C and a furnace for heat in colder months.brbrThe Kitchen has a granite counter with a counter height table that seats three. The kitchen is fully furnished so you can create anything from a gourmet dinner to a smoothie. brbrThe bedroom adjoins the bathroom and is very small but cozy and comfortable with a Queen plush mattress and designer bedding and duvet cover, and a closet and dresser. brThe Bathroom is also very small and is tiled with a shower/tub so you can soak and relax after a long day out. The view from the tub is like being in a 'secret garden'. There is a window unit A/C for hotter months.brbrPLEASE NOTE: The bathroom is very small and guests have to walk into the bedroom to get to the bathroom. It may not be a good fit for people who have difficulties in tight spaces.brbrThe short term rental on the East side of the property have dedicated use of the front porch. The Julia Rose West has her own back patio with a propane grill access and outdoor furniture to relax in privacy and comfort. The entrances are separate. There is extra sound insulation between the two units. We are a strict non smoking building. brbrThere is space for one car in the parking lot with a back and front door entrance if you prefer to park in the street. The flat screen TV we provide cable internet with the highest speeds available via Spectrum Cable with TV via Amazon Firestick. This house is in the prime downtown location in a quiet historic neighborhood off of the busy Third Avenue. Main Street is three blocks away and you will be right in the center of all of the fabulous restaurants and downtown coffee shops and shopping.brUpon arrival, you will enter the house with a coded lock and grab the key for the back door, The front door is closer to unpacking and unloading and the back door is closer to the off the street parking. br You can settle in by having a cool drink on the back patio or walking a few blocks to Main Avenue to relax at one of the coffee shops or brewpubs. br Please note this is a non-smoking unit, which includes marijuana smoking. We are very strict with our non-smoking policy.brWe do allow dogs with pre-approval on a case by case basis. Sorry, your cat is not welcome here.
