Private Vacation Home
Family Beach House - Reunions, Retreats & Small Events, Creekside Stinson Beach
Stinson Beach, California, United States
Creekside at Stinson Beach – a truly unique property on a nice quarter-acre of land that melds sweetly into the woods of the neighboring national park lands. Unlike many houses at Stinson, neighboring houses are on one fence only, so the place is quite private and expansive. The land has enough space outside for an event tent for weddings and other gatherings up top 30 people (additional rates apply and owner approval required). The house is in its own wonderful watershed, almost a little micro-climate, yet only 400 yards from the 3 mile sandy beach. It's a 5-minute walk to the town's three restaurants, the library, market and boutiques.brbrThe house and two adjacent cabins are rented as a whole along with an outdoor shower and hot tub. The owner, who manages and maintains the property and is a member of the Stinson Beach Volunteer Fire Department, has private spaces for his use on the other side of the creek in a cabin two Airstream trailers. However, the creek divides the property and trees create curtains to separate the two areas. If the owner is on site, he is available to assist If things come up.brbrIn 2022 We remodeled the upstairs bathroom with slate tile and a heated floor. Also, we bought new furniture for the living room. The video shows a Bridge and a Creekside deck that has since been removed and some furniture that has been replaced, but the sleeping rooms are generally the same. A solar array and back-up battery allow the house to have partial electricity for several days in the event of power outages.brbrHere is a link to a video that was recorded in June 2022:brbrhttps://youtu.be/5iSX7cDdliobrbrDuring the summer and holiday periods we rent by the week. Other times we will rent weekends, with a three night minimum. brbrFor spring, summer and fall getaways and all year. With a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel, you can walk out French doors onto a beautiful Italian tile walkway around two sides of the house and onto the flagstone patio that leads to the hot tub. A large horizontal window in the master bedroom upstairs looks at the woods and sky from the bed. brbrThe main house is a charming, classic two-story beach house that features knotty pine ceilings, hard wood floors, a wood stove upstairs, radiant heated tiled floors downstairs, hot spa steps from the downstairs bedroom, views of the ocean, three bedrooms and two baths. Extra mattresses and unique extra sleeping spaces allow for additional guests to sleep on the floor in family room downstairs, a small cabin with sink and toilet or on an enclosed deck outside the house with a king bed windows onto a grassy dell (this room is optional and is meant for glamping - it is not insulated or sealed from mice, so we may not make the bed up anymore - best for sleeping bags!). brbrThe house has some connection to Marin County Rock and Roll bands and was said to be a beach house for the Steve Miller Band at one time. Grateful Dead songwriter Robert Hunter stayed in the house as a guest before he died. The Chris Robinson brotherhood shot photos for one of their albums on the property in recent years. brbrThe house is located next to a lovely fresh water creek teeming with native plants and visited by wildlife, including deer, foxes, bats, ducks, grebes, egrets, hawks, warblers, flycatchers and many others. In March of 2009 we witnessed a 20' steelhead trout spawning below our dining room window! During most of the year, deer are nearby and visit often. In the late spring, we see their fawns running around.brbrThe house is on quarter acre that borders the north end of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Stinson Beach Park so it feels like you are on a very large piece of land. At night, a private back gate and path to the Stinson Beach Park parking lot allows you to slip out to the beach without passing neighbor houses. brbrSit in the upstairs living room and gaze out at the ocean as the sun streams in the windows. The grassy and forested landscape allows for great exploring with children and quiet contemplative moments in nature.brbrFrom the bedroom deck (new redwood decking in January, 2021) on the back, you are right on the edge of the native willow forest with lovely views to the mountain and the waves. We often see deer, hawks and other wildlife just below. Nice oak floors upstairs and heated tile floors down. Two couches (new in summer 2020) frame an updated fireplace stove that warms the whole room. Table for six looks out on creek with morning sun streaming in for breakfast. We have chairs to seat up to 10 people outside if you want to entertain. An extra card table is available in the corner bedroom closet and another small table is available on the upper deck.brbrDecks on three sides of the second floor give you a great sense of loft and perspective among the native willow trees and orange nasturtium blossoms. Flagstone patio leads to great Hot Spring spa in private spot to relax. Nicely appointed kitchen and lots of space to settle in and find serenity.brbrWalk 300 yards to beach or 500 to the town. Three great restaurants, take-out pizza at Parkside, and the entire GGNRA (National Park) beach to yourself after the park closes at sunset or before it opens at 9 in the morning. We have mint and apples growing on the property.brbrThe house sleeps 8-10 with two queen beds in two of the bedrooms, a bunk bed set in the third bedroom, a queen-sized temperpedic mattress with a privacy curtain and sofa bed in the playroom downstairs, and twin size bed in a rustic cabin across the patio. Also, you may set up tents in the yard or two futon mattresses for children or guests (you must bring the tents ;)brbrAntiques and art that were collected over a span of more than 30 years are found in every room. It's an interesting place, inside and out, for a beach rental . It is, however, rather rustic. The floors are the original wood floors and have worn down a bit over the years (and may have decades of dust in the cracks!). The kitchen counters are wooden as well and show some wear. We have a wonderful collection of books, CDs and New Yorker magazines as well.brbrWe do not have pets and do not wish to have visitors bring pets on the property. $500 security deposit and $260 for cleaning required. Generally, we require payment in full before the dates can be secured.brbrKeywords: Beach House, Beach Rental, Retreat space, Stinson Beach Vacation, Stinson Beach Rental, Weekend Rental, Getaway Rental, natural green space, ocean view, with pine ceiling, wood stove, decks all around.
