A peaceful retreat, ideal for a small family

We love this small holiday home, set in a peaceful, rural area with fabulous views on the valley down to the sea. The covered patio provided with a barbecue offers you the perfect spot for alfresco dining. The private pool and comfortable amenities complete this delightful location. The white village of Frigiliana is nearby and its numerous tapa bars and restaurants strike a lively contrast with the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside.

Location and outside area

The whitewashed houses of Frigiliana are only a short 10 minute drive away, whilst the beaches of the Mediterranean are close enough for a dip in the ocean (12 km). The villa is also well located for discovering the beautiful cities of Andalusia, like Granada, Málaga, and Antequera. Its beautiful terraces with sun and shade come with patio furniture and sun loungers. From here, you just need to extend your hand to pick an avocado from the adjacent grove. Don’t forget to bring your guacamole recipe! A bathroom downstairs is very convenient for those using the private pool (6.30m x 3.50m long and 1.7m - 2.0m deep).

Inside and lay-out

This traditional Andalusian holiday home is built on one level and well furnished, in a rustic style. The living area has dining and lounge furniture, an open fireplace, and satellite-TV. A brick arch gives entrance to the open-plan kitchen equipped with a 4 ringed gas hob, oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and washing machine. The main bedroom sleeps 4 with a double bed and 2 single beds. The second bedroom is a twin. The house is provided with a shower room with WC, bidet, and basin. Although there are beds for 5 people, we find the house a better fit for 4 people—prices below are for 4 people. A supplement applies for a 5th person.

From the initial enquiry to our two-week stay at Casa Amparo, everything was perfect. Ralph, our host, kept us well-informed with clear instructions, including details about the villa's location just 10 minutes outside Frigiliana. The road leading up is a bit uneven with a few bends, but manageable even at night with experience. Upon arrival, Celia warmly welcomed us and checked in throughout our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. The villa was fantastic, with breathtaking views of the sea, fruit groves, Frigiliana, and mountains. The pool, though deep, provided endless fun, especially for our 10-year-old who loves swimming. There was ample outdoor space for sunbathing, lounging by the pool, or relaxing in the shade under the gazebo. Inside, the villa was spacious and well-equipped with two bedrooms, a modern bathroom, and a cozy living room/kitchen area. We enjoyed visits to the beautiful Frigiliana and the vibrant town of Nerja, with its great restaurants and shops. Convenient grocery shopping at Lidl and Aldi in Nerja allowed us to enjoy delicious BBQs at the villa. Casa Amparo provided a perfect blend of comfort, stunning scenery, and warm hospitality. It’s one of the best villa experiences we’ve had, and we can’t wait to return.

This villa is good value and enjoys spectacular mountain and sea views. Renters should be aware that roads in the campo can be steep and rough in places. Overall well worth it though. The property does have one close neighbours who does partly overlook the pool area. Privacy is however quite high.

We had a wonderful stay in Frigiliana, the house is just as shown in the photos. The track up to the house is moderately challenging, but it’s well worth the effort once you arrive and see the fantastic views. I think it’s fair to say you need to arrive during daylight, I would have struggled to follow the directions given in the dark. Frigiliana is a great little place, obviously popular with tourists and plenty of little bars, restaurants and shops. There is a Lidl just down the bottom of the hill on the way into Nerja, a bigger town which is also well worth a visit. Bear in mind also you won’t find any large supermarkets open if you arrive on a Sunday, but you can pick up essentials in any of a few smaller shops which stay open. All in all a fantastic place and Ralph was very helpful with any queries we had before arriving.

Our family of 2 Ad + 2 teenagers really enjoyed the Villa; the pool was our main attraction. The views were outstanding & the facilities were top-notch. The Villa was very clean, and we would recommend it to others. Ralph was accommodating and arranged for someone to meet us as we were late arriving, and they guided us to the Villa, which was off the beaten track. The one observation I would make is to rent a suitable car to deal with the off-road nature of the track leading to the Villa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Ampero. However, there are a few things to note - the access roads / tracks are very narrow and windy, with steep sided drops in places; there is a very close neighbour to the rear of the villa, partially overlooking the pool side, so not completely private and finally there were no consumables suppled so you need to bring washing up liquid, kitchen spray, bin liners etc. The villa was spotlessly clean, with renewed bed linen and towels on the Saturday. Beach towels are also provided. There is plenty of space, with 2 double beds and a single, plus a large sofa. The kitchen had everything we needed. There is a barbecue also. The pool is a good size, clean and very deep which was perfect for cooling off on a hot day, however there is no shallow end. Once on the main road Frigiliana and Nerja are easy to access, there are plenty of lovely bars and restaurants to try. Nerja has gorgeous beaches and everyone we met was friendly and helped us with our Spanish! Overall we had a really great holiday. Thank you so much to our hosts.
