“Tobey's Den” – Perfect Home-Away-From-Home for families and friends
Every time we drive up the mountainside, our love for our 2nd generation mountain retreat grows and our day-to-day worries melt away. We love this property, with its gorgeous views, secluded location, family- and dog-friendly environment, and close proximity to small-towns like West Jefferson, Boone, and Blowing Rock. This is what inspired us to want to keep the property in the family for future generations. We want everyone who stays at “Tobey's Den” to feel the same peace and relaxation we feel when we visit and to have time to enjoy family and friends and to make happy memories as we already have.
PS: Because we know you'll ask, “Tobey” is the cute bear who stands at the front door. Since Tobey resides at the property full-time and watches over and welcomes our guests, it seemed fitting to name the house after him; it's his “Den”, thus “Tobey's Den.”
The living area features a huge wood burning fireplace with a unique burl maple mantle. A 65” TV with streaming services and SlingTV for regular programming may be experienced from the living and dining areas and kitchen. The living room also features a DVD player with collection of movies and Bose radio for background music.
The kitchen is a chef's dream – stainless steel, high-end Viking appliances (gas cooktop, electric oven/convection oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher) are available for use and enjoyment. The kitchen also offers an endless supply of cooking gear and utensils to make meal-time prep and clean-up a breeze.
The upper-level deck spans the entire length of the house and offers guests a place to enjoy coffee, drinks and finger food, with access to a gas fire-pit; all while enjoying amazing views of the mountainside all day long. Grillmasters have access to both charcoal and gas grills, while still enjoying easy access to the kitchen and family-centered activities.
The main floor includes laundry area, powder room, office for those needing to get work done while enjoying family-time, and the master suite. A king size bed provides sleeping accommodations on the upper level with a full bath with a Jacuzzi tub and separate tiled shower with four wall mounted waterfall showerheads. A 55” TV streaming provides bedroom entertainment. The spectacular view continues with extended windows throughout the master suite.
Downstairs is “Tobey's Cave”, complete with a full game room (table tennis and air hockey provided), family and kid-focused games and puzzles, wine-fridge, coffee machine, and a place to lounge and watch sports or movies on the 55” TV with stream services. Outside access to 6-person luxury hot-tub (1 lounge seat, 30 jets, premier package), outdoor sitting and – of course – world-class views of the North Carolina mountains!
Two additional bedrooms (one with king-bed, one with queen), 1½ baths with stand-up shower, and kids “bunk” room finish out the lower level. Easily accommodates 8 people.
Additional Notes:
- Repeat guests returning to Tobey's Den can receive a 5% discount.

There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers.

An absolutely beautiful home with plenty of room for a large family. As a home chef, I was blown away by the Viking kitchen. Gordon Ramsey would love to cook in this kitchen! I was able to make several gourmet meals for my family. I highly recommend Toby’s Den.
House is beautiful and spacious. Issues with no gas for outdoor fire pit, and kitchen utensils need replenishing.
Our families came for the weekend to attend the AppSt football game. This was a well-appointed house in a pretty neighborhood close to Boone. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this property.
First off, Toby’s Den (the actual house) was nice. The layout was good for our family. We did contact the rental agency regarding an empty propane tank and they were pretty quick to leave us a full one. I also contacted them regarding the housecleaning. It was no quite up to par. There were shoes and towels by the garage door, garbage left in the laundry area, one of the bowls that were in the cabinet has water in it, my husband tightened all the bar stool seat (If you were to lean back they would have fallen off), and there were A Lot of fruit flies! And no, we didn’t have fruit out on the counters. The person I spoke to regarding some of the housekeeping issues did offer to send someone out and we chose to deal with it. We called on Saturday late afternoon regarding the A/C not working (we hadn’t tried to turn it on before this). At the time of our departure (a day and a half later) no one had shown up. Again, the house was nice but I don’t think we’d stay there again.
Lovely property. We had no water for three days of our stay and left a day early. Property management willing to only give us back 1/2 day of our costs. They had no propane for the grilll. They did not pick up the garbage from the previous renter until we called 3 times. We could not shower wash dishes or flush toilets for three days. Very unhappy with this rental company.
This house is absolutely beautiful. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we had a wonderful time, and the house was very accommodating. The kitchen is fully stocked, the furniture is clean and comfortable, and the view off the back deck is superb! Would definitely stay there again.
Home was well appointed for our stay!
Beautiful house nestled in the High Country. Very nice!
We loved our stay at blue ridge. Between the home itself and the neighborhood, our stay was very comfortable and relaxed. The kitchen and living area are great!
We had a wonderful long weekend here. Everything was exactly as described. The hot tub was a great perk. Looking forward to a return visit soon.
We enjoyed the spacious kitchen and great room for family fun. It was a little further away from snow tubing then we originally thought, but the Mountain View, river and amenities at the home made it worth our stay. Great place to make family memories with lots of laughs!
The house was perfect! Plenty of room and everything was well stocked! Definitely a house We would rent again!
The house is stunning, overlooking beautiful mountains! The hosts have generously left most of the items you need for your stay so grocery shopping is simple and easy! We requested help with the hot tub and had someone come to the property within an hour! Will definitely be booking again!
Large house for a weekend with friends. Great place for movie marathon like we did. Best suits for three couples and kids. The kids room is fully enclosed without window or fan. Easily warmest room in the basement.
House and location were great. The hot tub wasn’t ready and that was the only negative
