Fleetwood, North Carolina
My place, a custom build from HGTV-featured tiny house builder Randy Jones, is on a ridge with unparalleled, 270-degree views of Grandfather Mountain, all three area ski resorts, and on in to Tennessee and Virginia's Mount Rogers. We're located 20 minutes from Boone and West Jefferson, and closer than that to the Blue Ridge Parkway and New River activities like fishing and tubing. If you've considered downsizing, or you just want to give living tiny a try for a getaway, this is the place!
Please note that the reviews for this tiny house before 2020 are from its old location just down the road in Todd, NC. HomeAway/VRBO required me to start a new listing due to the change in address, though I got to keep the reviews. It's the same great tiny house, now with VIEWS!
The tiny house is in a quiet spot on top of a hill with just four other properties (a second tiny house on wheels and two small, stick-built cabins). Alone, the tiny house is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with a kid or two), and dogs. You can rent the whole mountain top for events. Combined, the four properties can accommodate 16 people.
The tiny house features wifi, a smart TV, a stocked kitchen with a real range and fridge. The spacious bathroom is stocked with toiletries and linens. There is a sleeping loft accessed by steps, no ladder required, and two sofas that convert to beds. The space is cooled and heated efficiently by a mini-split heat pump. There are lots of windows to enjoy your surroundings as well as a deck with a custom bench and table made from reclaimed materials.
In the event of snowfall, four-wheel drive and experience driving in snow is an absolute must to go the last 1/2 mile or so to the house. If snow is forecast for your stay and you do not feel comfortable trying to access the property, you will be offered a full refund. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you could definitely hike the last bit or maybe even catch a ride on a side-by-side ATV.
Such a different environment from home, next to nature, away from lights, traffic, noises but not far from all that. Perfect place to just BE.
Was off the beaten path which is ok for us but might be difficult for less adventurous people - but directions were very good so we found it even after dark. Amazing views and great place to see beautiful birds such as indigo bunting. Owner was very responsive with communication. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked. Unique and charming tiny house but might not be a good fit for those with physical limitations. Beautiful area of NC.
THE BEST Little House and the View was Fantastic!!!!
....deliver beautiful views, a quiet retreat and dark skies. Super close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and less than 20 mins to Blowing Rock and Boone. One downside, the main loft bed is very thin, unsupportive (single traveler, under 150lbs). Realizing one can't put a regular bed in the loft, maybe an upgraded mattress? Or gel mattress topper (which is what I will bring for my next visit)? Slept on the futon the second night which was lumpy, but better. Otherwise, highly recommended! I'm anxious to try out the other tiny homes on site and will definitely be back!
It was a really cute clean tiny house! The views are amazing!! We loved our time there!
First time tiny house experience. Loved it. Awesome views and great location. Can’t wait to visit again.
Great location and beautiful views. So private. Will definitely go again!
Simple and quaint. Great home base to venture out from. Recommend bringing extra camp chairs and perhaps foam cover for upstairs bed roll. Just what we were looking for.
It was such a nice tiny house. The area is beautiful… we had a lot of rain so sadly missed out on the views but still enjoyed our time in the house. Impressive how many amenities they’re able to fit in such a small space. Highly recommend staying here if given the chance!
You cannot beat the views from this property! The Tiny house was a fun experience for sure and very comfortable. I spent the majority of my time sitting on the porch, with the gas fire pit on, enjoying home cooked meals I prepared in the kitchen area of the tiny home. It had everything I needed including spices to cook, pots & pans, etc. Very pleased! Thanks go out to the property owner and cleaning staff. This getaway was just what I needed and more!
My wife and I with 2 young kids (5 & 8 year old) were comfortable enough with this charming tiny home for a 1 night getaway looking to spend time in Boone. All of the basic amenities were there. The view out of the porch and front windows were terrific. Very quiet. Host communicated well with us. Would do it again.
This Tiny House was the perfect size for 2 people to getaway from reality for a couple of days! I will definitely be returning! #askboone
The tiny house was a perfect size for the two of us. Unfortunately the cleaning crew was still there when it was time for us to check in. But after contacting the property manager he was very apologetic and also sent us dinner! While the bathroom did have a slight septic smell, overall was a nice place to lay down at night with stunning views.
Great little house to get away for a little bit great view was enough room for me and my wife to move around in I would suggest sleeping on the pull out couch for more comfortable sleeping
My dog and I really enjoyed our first tiny house stay. Clean, cute, well equipped BUT what was spectacular were the VIEWS and how they changed daily. I can’t say enough about the views. There are an additional three tiny houses up there but nicely spaced out and people staying were all very friendly. Would be a perfect place to rent all four and do a family or friends reunion. Definitely plan to come back!
Excellent location - views and peacefulness. Place was well equipped and in good shape. Be nice if the deck was shaded and had some chairs. Love the creative thinking in designing tiny house efficient use of space. But tiny house is not for older people - the steps to the sleeping loft are a challenge. Good experience, location great and host great.
The cabin is cozy, quiet, and relaxing. It exceeded our expectations with its amazing views. I highly recommend staying here.
This place is amazing. Perfect place for a getaway and what a view!!! It was clean, comfortable, easy to get to, close to other activities in the area. Host was great and communicated quickly. Highly recommended.... and we will be back!
My daughter and I rented this place for the night. The views from the house were spectacular. I cannot say enough about the view! The house was equipped with everything we needed and perfect for the two of us. I slept on the futon and was quite comfortable. My daughter said the bed in the loft was also very comfortable. The directions from the host were a big help, since the house is a little off of the beaten path! I would stay there again in a minute. Next time, I will get there early enough and stay long enough to really enjoy the view!
The home had everything we needed to enjoy our cozy and wonderful visit !!
The tiny house was delightful, and pretty much as shown in the pictures. Small, but very well laid out and functional. But the posting hardly did justice to the amazing scenery. The views were absolutely spectacular, from the rolling hills to the huge backyard area full of fireflies. Highly recommended!
We came with our two kids (4 and 2 years old). It was a fun tiny house experience! The views are beyond amazing and the kids loved the open space to run around outside! We’ll be back!
My husband and I had an amazing stay at this tiny house! The views were the most beautiful we’ve had on a mountain vacation, the area was quiet yet we felt safe. The host was quick to respond and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.
Me and my partner wanted to get away for spring break and this place was perfect. The views from the deck were amazing. Even though it was a tiny house there was plenty of room for everything and it was so cozy
