York, England
The perfect place for a staycation. Close to open spaces (Rowntree Park, the Racecourse, Museum Gardens), The Minster, numerous museums and attractions (The Yorkshire Museum; The Castle Museum; Clifford's Tower; York's Chocolate Story; Barley Hall; The Treasurer's House; Fairfax House; the Viking Centre; Dig - and countless more!), restaurants and cafes, and gorgeous riverside walks and cycle routes, but wonderfully tranquil and secure. Super-fast wifi included. Free parking for one car outside the house. Sunny and spacious rear yard, ideal for a relaxing G&T/BBQ, or a cosy mulled wine under a blanket!
Combining Victorian charm and 21st century convenience, 25 Victor Street offers comfortable, elegant and stylish accommodation a stone's throw from the centre of York.
The house is ideal for four, but will also sleep a total of six (one double, one twin, one sofa bed - suitable for two children or one adult). Book-lovers will be in Paradise, while teenagers and anyone who needs to work from home will be equally happy with the wifi provision and internet-enabled TV. Younger guests will no doubt enjoy the proximity to three different playgrounds (including one at the end of the road, which is ideal for toddlers). Canine guests can let off steam on the Racecourse, only a short walk away.
The upstairs bathroom has both a roll-top bath and large walk-in shower, while the utility room downstairs offers a second loo and basin.
Outside, there is a private and spacious yard with seating, accessed either through the kitchen or via the French doors in the dining room - perfect for a gin and tonic on a summer's night. It's also completely secure for small children and pets.
On-street permit parking is available for one car (further parking is available in the public car-park a very short walk away).
It is hard to believe that Victor Street, so tranquil and unspoilt, is only a stone's throw from some of York's best restaurants on Micklegate, and equally close to Bishopthorpe Road (recently voted Britain's best High Street by The Times, and offering everything from Sainsbury's Local to splendid restaurants and cafes).
We will gladly accept bookings from families with pets, though would ask that you do not allow your pets to go upstairs (we provide a stair gate) or sleep on the soft furnishings.
