Packwood,
When the sun starts to go down in the forest trails of Rainier and on the slopes of White Pass, make sure that you and your friends and family have the perfect place to retire to: Mount Rainier Retreat.
ABOUT MOUNT RAINIER RETREAT
Just over the Cowlitz River from Packwood, in the forests of the High Valley neighborhood, is Mount Rainier Retreat. This adorable cabin was built explicitly to cater to the needs of the modern explorers who frequently venture into Mount Rainier National Park and the surrounding wilderness.
Whether you're a skier or snowboarder, a hiker, a fisher or a climber, the front hall is wide and tiled, so any outdoorsman, no matter how extreme, can shuck off and hang their gear without worrying too much about a mess.
From there, the weary sportsmen in your party can move into the open yet cozy (and of course, heated) living room, where comfortable furniture awaits, as well as a beautifully equipped modern kitchen.
MORE ABOUT MOUNT RAINIER RETREAT
The kitchen also boasts a four seater breakfast bar, or as is so often the case, a place for the less culinarily inclined members of your group to watch and await a proper meal. Behind the kitchen is a charming dining nook, just perfect for a quick bite or for playing a round of cards or board game with the family.
Should the Roku-equipped flat screen TV not provide enough after dinner entertainment, the house also offers a firepit in the front from which to comfortably enjoy the quiet nights and evenings the Packwood area is known for, either with a book, some s'mores, or just by looking up at the starry night sky through the pines.
The newly improved backyard now offers guests a large gas grill, a six person outdor dining set, a copper fire pit, and most importantly, a hot tub! Truly the best way to get warm and relax on a cold winter's night in Packwood!

Poor impression. Dirty water in hot tub, we got sick from it (Hot Tub folliculitis). It does NOT have a beautifully equipped modern kitchen, NO toaster, only ONE pan , no pots. NOT clean properly, crumbs in front of couch, dirty coffee pot. One bedroom has NO ceiling light, Only a ceiling fan , No bed stand , no bed light. Beds are extremely uncomfortable. The advertising does NOT reflect the reality, definitely NOT a 'premier host' as listed. We did NOT get what we paid for. Please see full e-mail we are sending.
It was a great home
Great location in a quiet neighborhood close to Mt. Rainier. The hot tub was awesome and the bed was super comfortable. There was a quite lengthy list of house rules, but as long as you are clean and quiet, you should be good. One thing to note is the Stevens Canyon road (SE entrance) is closed Monday - Friday for the 2023 season, so you may have to drive to the Nisqually entrance.
It’s was an easy process to get checked in. The home was clean and ready for us. Hot tub was perfect!
Nice and quiet relaxing time. We attended our daughters wedding this weekend at the old rangers station. Overall very good experience.
Great location
The house is located in a very quite private area. It was our base to visit Sunrise and Paradise area of Mt Rainier NP. The check in/out process was easy, the house is clean and very well equipped. My son and I really enjoyed our stay.
