West Tisbury, Massachusetts
This bright, sunny gambrel Cape Cod home is situated on a private wooded acre on a quiet country lane. The house is just a short walk from Lambert's Cove Beach and two swimming ponds, and only 10 minutes' drive to the ferry, restaurants, and shopping. There are two sizable decks for outdoor grilling, dining, and lounging, and a small grassy yard with a hammock.
The interior is freshly painted and filled with art from island galleries. Downstairs is a front-to-back fireplaced living room, newly renovated kitchen, dining area with room for 8-10, and full bath. Upstairs are 4 cozy bedrooms and a second full bath. There are hardwood floors and oversized windows throughout the house, and ceiling fans in the bedrooms (and one window a/c unit). The walk-out basement has laundry facilities, and a spacious outdoor shower is perfect for cleaning off after the beach.
The kitchen has new appliances including an induction range, and is fully stocked with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, toaster oven, blender, coffee grinder, Oxo coffee brewer, lobster pot, bowls and platters, salad spinner, and barware.
The house is within walking distance to three swimming areas. It's a five-minute walk to the Lambert's Cove Beach parking lot, a residents-only private beach. with the warmest water on the island and legendary sunsets. The rental includes walk-on beach passes.
A ten-minute walk down our road is Manaquayak Preserve, which includes miles of wooded hiking trails and Ice House Pond, a deep kettle pond for swimming. Ten minutes' walk in the other direction is the shallower Seth's Pond, which has a small sandy beach and is great for families with young kids.
We're well set up for families with a portacrib, high chair, stroller, and kids' toys and books. We also have adult books, board games and puzzles.
Thank you to Lisa .. some confusion in the beginning but was very helpful. Nice relaxing home.. had everything we needed and more… great location especially for the beach… even tho we were off season my husband ran down to lamberts cove and dove in ::)) highly recommended to stay away but be close to everything you needed.
Great for a family gathering before the new year. Lisa was extremely responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Highly recommend!
The house is lovely- well decorate & close to the beach. The host was easy to reach and responsive - would definitely recommend!
We loved this spot for a great jumping off point for the quieter side of the vineyard. It's very close to the ice pond and the beach! The house is well outfitted and we were thankful for the AC in the bedroom.
The house is cozy but has an awesome layout for cooking and spending time together with friends. It's beautifully decorated too. We loved how quiet and wooded the neighborhood was and that we could easily walk to a gorgeous beach and bike to other beautiful destinations. Lisa was very friendly and communicative and tipped us off to many fun things to do in the neighborhood and on the island.
My family enjoyed the house and it’s location. Everything was perfect.
We had a great time during our stay. The beach was close and very clean. Elizabeths home is very spacious and had all the supplies that we needed. Communicating with Elizabeth was very easy. We hope to visit again soon.
This rental was a lovely place to spend a few days with siblings and their adult children. We loved the pleasant, bright, airy, window-filled home, surrounded by woods, very comfortable, with a table on one of the decks big enough for all of us to eat outside (though another big table was inside). The kitchen was well-furnished and large enough for several cooks to be preparing meals at the same time. We opted not to bring our cars (partly, we were trying to get reservations so late that there weren’t that many spaces left on the ferries we wanted to take, and to keep costs down). We relied on cabs (some vans big enough for all 8 of us), Ubers, and Lyfts, either at the ferry terminal or other places to get to the rental, to go out for dinner and to do some shopping, but also found we could order some groceries and have them delivered. The walk to the beach, with lifeguards, was very doable, not over-crowded, with great sand, and gentle waves. One night we went out for dinner in Oak Bluffs, a bustling town with lots of visitors and much activity. It was a pleasant change from our very quiet rental, though I think we all preferred the secluded rental—to lounge, lie on the hammock in the yard, and sit on one of the decks. The temperatures were in the low 80ies at the hottest, but house fans, open windows, and brisk sea breezes allowed for great cross-ventilation at night, in spite of the lack of AC, which we didn’t seem to miss. Communication with the owners was easy before we arrived, with questions answered within hours. For all of us, it was our first time on Martha’s Vineyard and I know that we all would love to return.
Short stay but everything very nice
We had a wonderful stay at Lisa's home. There was plenty of room for four small children and four adults, and Lambert's Cove Beach was only a few minutes walk away.
