Everyone in the family enjoyed staying at Quickly’s Retreat. It was our base of operations for day trips up to the parkway, down to Lexington, over to Charlottesville, and right into downtown Staunton. The house is on a quiet street and is within walking distance of lots of great shops and restaurants. The beds were comfortable, the Autumn light through the back windows was pleasant, there was a friendly neighborhood cat that greeted us, and we had plenty of space to relax and enjoy hanging out together for four days. It was a great trip and staying at this house was a big part of that. Thank you!

We drove up in the rain just after our check-in time. Even though the day was dreary the cream and red exterior worked to dispel the gloom. Then came the problem - our host had neglected to send us the key code. After contacting VRBO support three times they were finally able to contact the host. She immediately sent us the code and all five of us breathed a sigh of relief and entered the house. The house is a nicely restored early 20th Century home. There are wood floors throughout and gleaming woodwork in the first floor common rooms, including the large entry hall. The kitchen comes with multiple place settings, lots of breakfast bowls, an immense array of glassware for drinkables, and an assortment of odds-and-ends of edibles.Upstairs, we used just three of the four major bedrooms. One of our group had a smaller bedroom with a full bath just around the corner in the hall. The rest of us shared a spacious full bath which, unfortunately, did not have locks on the doors. Oh, well - we knocked before entering. We did not need the fourth bedroom on the second floor. It looked cozy. We did not use the third floor TV room with the bed and sink, but it also looked cozy.Other than the delay in gaining access the only detail where I felt the property fell short was in lighting. This is an old house, true, but for a series of rainy days the ceiling lighting never did dispel the gloom. This is partly because the host is using CFLs to conserve energy and partly because several of the fixtures did not have their full complement of bulbs. All five of us enjoyed the house and our time there. The TV worked well to watch an Apple+ movie and the ISU/KU football game because my Apple devices had no problems in using AirPlay to send the video and audio to the large screen TV.Be aware that there is no cable TV and the Apple TV apps mostly require a login. If you have your own accounts for the apps you want to use, fine, but the ID and password provided did not give us access to the apps.

We loved staying in this beautiful historic home over Easter weekend with my 2 adult kids, their husbands and infant grandson. We enjoyed the short walk to the town, going to the cute shops, and relaxing in the front yard. We love older homes, and this house was very well maintained and beautifully furnished. We cooked on the grill and made breakfasts in the kitchen, and it had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

We did have an issue with parking due to snow not being cleared out, which was an inconvenience. The neighbor complained to the owner because we parked in ‘his spot on a public street and Kate the owner of the house requested that we move our vehicle out of “his spot.” Although there was parking available on a pad behind the house we could not access it due to the snow nor could we access the driveway. We had to borrow a shovel so that we could park and gain access to the house. Although we were here for work the house is nicely located near the downtown area of Staunton with plenty of restaurants available

House was in good location and as promised. Wasn't given entry code or password for TV ahead of time but was able to massage host and get quick reply on both. Was a good fit for our needs. Nice big house and very clean.

Our family had a great stay at this super charming house. There was plenty of room for us to spread out, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Beds were comfy, and everything was clean and nice. Highly recommend for your visit to Staunton or Charlottesville!

The house was clean and beds comfortable. There was plenty of room for us - two couples and 2 singles. We liked how close it is to the restaurants in Staunton. You can walk - it is a little walk or a very short drive. thanks!

We came and went to several venues in the area. The beds were comfortable and showers adequate for our group of 4 after a day of hiking. We mostly did breakfast at the house and ate out the rest of the time. The living room, dining room, and kitchen gave us plenty of space to chat and eat and do our own thing as we wished. I will consider hosting my next family get together here also!
