There is a large supermarket step from the home so that the guests may prepare food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Unfortunately, this home has no parking but there are paid public parking garages nearby the home, approximately 200 sq feet away.
Great roomy and comfortable location that fit 15 people comfortably. We rented all 3 floors, each floor has its own kitchen and was fully stocked. Convenient and within walking distance to the grocery store, Starbucks, Target, restaurants and public transportation. Friendly neighbors with friendly dogs. Nice neighborhood feel. Well appointed kitchens. Lots of pots and pans. Great to have a blender. House was very quite although construction was going on next door. Ms. Lois (the owner) and her team are amazing and responded quickly to internet issues and additional trash pickup as needed. Great space, location and price... I highly recommend this beautiful home!!!
We really didn't appreciate the layout of the property. It was extremely odd having beds in living rooms with no doors. Perhaps more importantly, the construction next door and the enormous dumpster in front were significant distractions. The noise and garbage were terrible. We would appreciate a refund of some fair portion. Thanks, Kara
We rented the entire house and it was great! I know that each floor can be rented individually, but I recommend renting all three floors of the house if possible. I imagine the experience wouldn't have been as great if we hadn't.
It worked great for our 3 families with ages running from 8 to 71. The little ones loved playing hide and seek. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms for 15 people. Only drawback was no single room to congregate except the conference room. We made it work and the adults always came together to share at the end of the day while kids spread out.
Our family of 15 stayed at this house for four days. The location is wonderful with the metro, supermarket, restaurants just a couple of blocks away. We made sure our cars were locked with no valuables and had no problems finding a parking spot close by. As other reviews said, the house is old and quirky. It was enjoyable to find all the different areas of the three floors we rented. It was clean enough and the large conference table was very nice for our whole family to enjoy our evening meals together. It was fairly hot in DC when we were there and as can be expected, the A/C worked great on the first floor, good on the 2nd floor and ok on the third floor. It was nice to have 3 kitchen areas but to prepare meals for a large group would be a challenge as the kitchens are adequate, but small. HOWEVER, there were several negatives that I feel I need to point out. The main problem is that there are signs all over the house…….ie. “turn off lights” “do not move furniture” etc. There was also a sign on the 3rd floor bathroom…”Do Not Use Bathroom” and a door between front and back areas on 2nd floor ….”Do Not Open Door” So our family had the use of only 3 bathrooms instead of 4 as advertised. And one bathroom’s shower did not work. Also, two washer/dryer combos did not have directions on how to use and we all had to use the single dryer on the third floor. When we returned home, I contacted the property manager and she said I should have called because the bathroom with the sign was “off limits” to those who were not on the 3rd floor and the door between areas on the 2nd floor could have been opened. How were we to know that? Our family was very conscientious about following the rules and never thought to call to question a sign clearly stating “Do Not Use”. My advice to anyone who rents this house is to COMMUNICATE and call/text the property manager and the maintenance persons if there is something that does not meet your expectations when you arrive. Don’t hesitate to express your concerns at that time and do not wait until after you have returned home!
Very clean and well maintained house! The location was great as well.
We rented the whole house so found the discovery of bedrooms fun and exciting. House was clean. We did need go get extra hand soap but left it there for future use so it should not be a problem. We would definitely go back.
This property was extremely convenient for a large group of people. Close enough to everything you want to see in DC
Property was a mixed bag. We rented the top 3 floors (not the separate garden apartment) for an office trip. Great neighborhood and close to everything. House was clean and linens were fresh and clean. Beds were comfy and rooms were not tight. Plumbing was quirky. One shower didn't have hot water unless you used the shut off value on the floor, one didn't mix the temps, you either got hot or cold. No working outlet in the top floor bathroom. Security might be an issue if you don't rent the whole house. Only one key for all persons in the house and individual rooms don't lock while you are gone. WiFi was spotty in the back bedroom. Kitchens were ok appointed and bath towels were clean. House had a lot of charm to it and we enjoyed the old house feel and quirks. Back yard was not very usable, overgrown and bottom step was broken. With all that said, I would probably rent this property again if we needed the whole house. Subway was only a block and a half away, restaurants and groceries/liquor one block. There is a handy man on call that did respond quickly to our concerns.
Our family found this beautiful home to be the perfect place for our reunion. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax and spend time together. We loved the neighborhood and how close we were to the stores and metro.
