This incredible vacation log home has expansive decks overlooking beautiful Lake Glenville and is surrounded by 16 ranges of mountains. Take in the beautiful sunsets over the lake as you dine on one of the covered decks or expansive stone while patio sitting around the fire pit. If privacy is what you desire, Heaven's Gate is situated on 8 acres for the kids to run and play. The kids (and adults too) will love the game room which has a pool table, shuffleboard table, and an electronic plastic tipped dartboard as well as a flat screen tv.
The expansive living room is right out of a magazine with soaring ceilings and beautiful stone fireplace. Sit by the fire in the morning and sip your coffee or sit on the deck and watch the deer and wild turkey.
Walk to your own private dock which awaits you on Lake Glenville, pontoon boat rental is also within walking distance.
This fabulous log home is perfect for a romantic getaway for two or a family reunion. Its peacefulness, thus the name Heaven's Gate, also lends itself well for a church retreat.
Every bedroom has a beautiful view of the lake and its own bathroom. The master suite with jacuzzi tub, has its own deck with a swing for two. Bring your sweater, it is cool even in the summer at nearly 4000 ft. elevation. The AVERAGE low temperature in July is 59 degrees. It is not uncommon to light a fire in the morning just to take the chill off. This log home does not need air conditioning as the cool nights keep the home cool during the day. Ceiling fans are in every room just in case there is an unusually warm day.
There are two bedrooms upstairs both with two queen beds. The master suite downstairs has a king bed. The finished basement has the game room, a king bed and the bunk room has two sets of bunk beds.
Just a short drive to Cashiers, Highlands, Cherokee and Franklin, this area of Western North Carolina offers activities for all ages from golfing to whitewater rafting.

Incredible vista of the mountains and very close to Cashiers
We had a group of 9 stay here for an extended weekend for a lake and golf trip. The home was large enough to comfortably sleep all 9. The deck has beautiful views of the lake and sunset. Large front yard with wildlife. Close to the marina where we rented a boat for the day to enjoy the lake. We enjoyed out stay and Susan was a great host.
Our family had a wonderful time and look forward to staying again! Lots of space, close to the lake and Cashiers, we saw bears a few nights on property and lots of other wildlife, and enjoyed the firepit every night. The house does not have AC, which we didn't realize, but the owner was quick to respond during checkin and once the temps dropped in the afternoon, we had no problems (there are lots of fans to keep the air moving during the day). We would absolutely stay here again!
The Home is spectacular as is the location! We have been gathering each summer for a week of family time since 2001. We call it Camp Cousins! This was one of the best weeks we have had. The house was very clean and everything was as advertised. I could not get enough of the view from the deck, absolutely beautiful! We saw deer and a black bear from there. We ALL agreed that this was a place we could return to, there has only been one other and that was on the shore of lake Michigan. One of the top Camp Cousins in 22 years! Thank you for allowing us to use your home!
We were blessed to stay at Heaven's Gate during leaf season and it was SPECTACULAR! The view from the house is incredible, and the surrounding area is beautiful. The grandkids had a blast in the huge yard, and we LOVED the privacy! We basically stayed put, leaving only one morning for a hike~ Susan is a great host and got back with us so quickly with some answers to our questions before the trip. We truly had a great time!
We had a wonderful week with family at Heaven's Gate. The house is clean and comfortable, and the view from the deck of the valley and Lake Glenville can't be beat. Each morning, we sat above the clouds as the sun rose behind us and burned away the mist to reveal the lake and surrounding hills. Evenings of conversation by the fire pit were the perfect way to end each day.
Plenty of beds, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and nice greenspace with distant view of the lake and mountains. The lake is quite far away and not a walk. We saw no instructions on how to find the “private dock” so accessing the lake from the property was not really possible. The downstairs with the queen bed and 4 bunks was very musty smelling and we were never able to air it out. The small kitchen was well stocked with well-used equipment but the cabinets were a hodge podge of stuff and terrible messy. Some of the knife handles from the drawer were not clean. It is a functional property but not worth the price. Everything was a bit outdated and well worn.
Susan was always very prompt in answering my questions. When we had a problem she helped us figure it out. The house is large. The boat dock across the road was as convenient as can be. We enjoyed the fire pit a few nights. It did get a little warm with the summer temperatures on a couple of our days there. They had lots of fans and I have to say the master bedroom was the coolest place in the house besides the basement. I liked that she had spices etc for our use in the kitchen. We played some of the board games and corn hole. All in all, a great place.
The home was gorgeous. The location was perfect. We sat on the beautiful deck and watch the sunrises and sunsets over the lake. We also enjoyed watching the deer and turkey that visited daily.
The mountain lodge was exactly as listed. Being our first mountains vacation, we pleasantly overwhelmed with the location, spacious living area, amenities available. While the rest of the country was sweltering in a heat wave, we enjoyed cool nights! Susan is the host pleasant and accommodating host. Highly recommend!
We get together every year ages 4-50. We have lots of boys ages 9-15 and they absolutely loved the huge lawn to play football and capture the flag. Spectacular views from the porch and extremely private. Highly recommend!
