Great location for Ironman Michigan. Perfect. Quiet. Gave the feel of being in the country without actually being in the country. Negatives? Only one. No dishwasher. Obviously not a deal breaker but would have been the cherry on top
Booking and checking was extremely easy. The pictures are accurate for what it looks like inside and out. Location to towns of Frankfort and Elberta was great. Not walking distance exactly, especially with younger children but free parking in the heart of town was never an issue! Quite close to the main road so there is definitely traffic noise any where you go on the property which I was hoping for more peace and quiet for our evening bon fire. Yard is spacious and nice. There is a small neighborhood at the back of the property. The place is spacious for an A frame and quite cute!! The kitchen was FULLY stocked for cooking and plenty of dishes. Even had a blender and crockpot! Everything in the home worked, plenty of hot water and good tasting water. They supply laundry pods and dryer sheets to! Super cute books for the kids to read about the surrounding area. Felt extremely safe. I only gave a 3 for communication with management, because we never really needed to communicate with them. The one and only down side was the furniture throughout the place. Couch and futon are VERY old, worn out and smelled somewhat musty (they need replaced) same with the kitchen chairs…old and felt like they could give way with any wrong sudden move ?. Bed mattresses also felt quite old. Sheets were clean, and there was plenty of extra sheets/blankets/ Towels/wash cloths. We did find a cardboard six pack holder stuffed between the cushions of the couch. Children adored the place!!!!!
Interesting property with a unique floor plan. More suited for famlies with kiddos. About a mile walk to downtown.
My friends and I were very pleased with the Koal- Mine- Inn. We found it clean and ready for us. There was plenty of room for an even larger group than our three people. I especially enjoyed the ability to turn on the air fresheners that brought outside air into the rooms. Fresh air, yet warmth with the heating system made it very comfortable. Thank you.
Had a wonderful time. The home was clean and very unique. Within walking distance to downtown Frankfort and minutes from Benzonia and Beulah. This home had every convenience and was a great getaway. We will certainly go back.
We all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone else who wants to stay in Frankfort.
We stayed at Koal Mine for 2 weeks, and overall it met our needs. All kitchen goodies were available including a crockpot which was convenient! No fire pit was allowed as indicated in the listing so plan accordingly for those beautiful cool Michigan evenings. We had to spend most of our time when home inside. It took 3 days for the corporate help line to get us an answer on that after a neighbor yelled at us. I dislike the communication set up they have for this property as there is no one local readily available for anything…even to follow up on an issue. Safety note-the second bedroom downstairs has no usable window lock when the portable AC unit is installed and our children were not able to sleep there like that safely. At least some wood securing the partially open window would be needed. Mgmt response to me was…sorry. No effort to remediate in our 2 week stay. No one was able to sleep in that room comfortably. Also recommend washing all towels separate from other clothes and an empty rinse cycle between them and your clothes. They are cheap and ruined several of our clothing items with white pills that embedded into our fabrics. No laundry detergent is provided, but there is an empty can where it used to be. Also be prepared for ants. Frankfort is beautiful and the downtown area has everything you need and want from a small beach town. There is also a brewery directly across the street with live music and a food truck some nights which is fun. That, the grocery, A&W, and a dairy stand are the only places really walkable. Definitely plan on bikes or a car to get you to town or the beach, as it would be a very long walk. This house is on the outskirts of town, but they have nice sidewalks that made it easier to bike to dinner with our kids, and a nice bike trail along betsie lake that is close. Vacasa did offer us a small amount of compensation for the fire pit issue, but in my opinion the one text I received from a local person 3 days after our inquiry is unacceptable. Corporate was no help. I have no trust that if we had a bigger issue it would have been solved any faster, and for that reason we will not rent through Vacasa again. This home alone would probably get a 4 star for price and accommodation considering the location. But the property management gets a 1 in my book and that matters. I hope the property owner sees reviews like this and considers them when choosing who to rent through.
Everything was as listed and expected with the exception of the property listing a fire pit which seems to have been recently removed (minor issue for us). The location is quiet and off the main roads, but the town of Frankfort is easily in walking distance and a very nice, fun town to explore. Several nearby other towns to explore and things to do. The A/C in the house is not central but worked well. Rustic, but comfortable enough. Communication with property manager was not as high because I sent a couple of emails through VRBO/ Vacasa and didn’t get any response. However, we had a minor electric problem while we were staying and that was addressed very quickly by VASCA and the property owner or direct management.
We enjoyed ourselves at Koal Mine Inn! It was bigger than the pictures show, which obviously is a bonus! This place is super cute and we had a very comfortable stay. Having a washer and dryer was so nice. Got all our laundry done the night before we left! Will definitely stay again!
The property was overall good. My 3 year old son called it the triangle house and he loved it! Only have a couple complaints, there were some ants in the kitchen, air conditioner units were loud and really gave us all sore throats, and the house smelled really musty. Otherwise, location was pretty close to town and it had everything we needed. The deck and yard space was great. Beds were comfortable.
I can't summarize I have a lot to say about this property. they must take care the trees branches are very low I my grandson almost hurt his eyes and scratched my truck w/ this branches because in the night time I can not see well do to the front door light is to dim.
