Wellfleet, Massachusetts
Tidal views of Wellfleet bay and in walking distance of everything in Wellfleet center! Experience the delights of Cape Cod in a charming 820 sq. foot townhouse right in central Wellfleet - The Bradford, with water view from 4 windows. Five minute walk to: Wellfleet harbor and public beach, Uncle Tim's bridge, downtown Wellfleet, Wellfleet public library, the farmer's market, Hatch's fish market, and Mac's Seafood. This cozy two-bedroom is in an 1890's building that used to be boarding house. It features original wooden floors and banisters, with a remodeled kitchen and bathroom. You walk in on ground level, where there is an entry and a small washing machine and dryer. On the second floor is a living room with 3 windows that look out onto the Wellfleet bay with its amazing changing tidal flats; a charming renovated kitchen; and a bathroom with a large shower (no tub sadly). On the third floor are 2 bedrooms under the eaves with dormer windows. Each bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed and dresser and chair, and there is an additional blow-up queen mattress if needed. Off the kitchen is a back porch (shared with neighbors) and a shared back yard with your own grill.
The unit has one designated parking spot for unit # 2. Additional parking can be found on the pier (5 minute walk) or in town. Wellfleet requires beach stickers for most beaches if you want to park there before 5 pm.
As this is a townhouse with neighbors who live here year-round, guests are expected to maintain quiet hours between 11 pm and 8 am. There is internet and a monitor (see picture) with a HDMI cable so you can stream movies from your computer. There is no cable tv, and access to streaming films is done from your own computer, but the internet is strong enough to stream movies. Kitchen amenities include lots of pots and pans, toaster, blender, coffee paraphernalia (grinder, pour over or French press), microwave; no dishwasher. Please note that the bedrooms are on the top floor (3rd) while the living room, kitchen and bathroom are on the 2nd floor. As this is an old house, the stairs are a bit narrow and steep - not recommended for anyone who has mobility issues.
This would be a GREAT place for a multi-week writing or creative retreat while while enjoying swimming and exquisite nature walks. In addition if you rent for 32 days, there is no short-term rental tax, so it's a super deal! (All the city short term rental taxes are dealt with by VRBO who adds them to your totals.). Discount on rentals of 1 month or more.
Please note that this condo in the historic Bradford building is in town on a street leading to the Wellfleet pier. In high season, there will be some traffic! However, there are abundant beautiful bay walks and swims close by that you can do without even getting in a car! The local grocery, farmer's market (Wednesdays) and several restaurants are also in walking distance. With a car you are within a ten minute drive of: Atlantic beaches and bay marshes; fabulous swimming at Long Pond, Great Pond, Duck Pond, Great Island; the tasty delights of PB Boulangerie and Blue Willow Cafe (in South Wellfleet). You are also less than a half hour from the Audubon, Eastham's gorgeous marshes at Fort Hill, and 35 minutes from Provincetown dunes and art.
If you are looking for a long-term rental - 1-3 months off season, I will request to have a phone call with you before confirming. Thanks!
This was our 5th summer on the Cape with our 9- and 11-year-old daughters. Of all the summer rentals we've stayed in, this was by far our favorite. We would absolutely stay here again. The location is excellent. It's in walking distance to everything in town. The condo itself is charming, with a lot of historical character and a lovely view of Duck Creek. The kitchen and bathroom are very clean, which made us feel right at home. With two kids, it was great to have the 2nd floor living space and 3rd floor bedrooms. This provided enough room for everyone to spread out and have their own space as needed (which cottages can sometimes lack). The in-unit washing machine and dryer were a huge bonus. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Such a great space for our family, and we hope to stay here again sometime soon.
Irina is a very lovely and considerate property owner. She has clearly gone out of her way to make her condo as delightful as possible for renters. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and made sure to return her kindness by taking the best possible care of the condo entrusted to our care.
The location is great and the condo was perfect for us. We had everything we needed. Irina was incredibly easy to deal with. We were comfortable and happy.
Terrific location close to the beach and restaurants. Townhouse was very clean and comfortable. Host was very communicative and helpful. We had a fantastic stay.
Beautiful, well-kept condo a walk from Uncle Tim's Bridge, restaurants and shops. Irina was an excellent host as well! Loved it.
A little piece of heaven in Wellfleet The location and apartment were perfect and the owner was a pleasure to work with we can’t wait to come back again next summer
Charming, rustic 2 bedroom townhouse style apartment in a historic building has lovely, ever-changing views of tidal marsh and a great location for walking to the fishing pier, Mayo Beach and Wellfleet town center. Other lovely walks include Uncle Tim's bridge. Internal stairs are steep and bedrooms are on top level.
This was exactly what we were looking for in returning to Wellfleet 50 years after spending many a summer here in my youth. I remember the Bradford as a boarding house in those days and it is exactly the same, from the exterior at least, now. Right across the street from Mack’s Shack, beautiful views of duck Creek and uncle Tim’s bridge and a two block walk to the center of town. Easy driving distance to all of the beaches, Truro, and Provincetown. The perfect accommodation for two couples. Many thoughtful and tasteful accoutrements.
Cute and cozy historic townhouse walkable to all sorts of nice amenities (quiet beach, restaurants, shops) and a very short drive to others (ponds, Cape Cod Rail Trail trailhead). Property was clean on arrival and owner was very responsive to texts/emails. Note to other parents, our kids are 5 and 7 and I definitely would not stay here with younger kids due to both the steep stairs and the busy road right outside. For us though it was great! Would definitely stay here again if we return to Wellfleet.
What a charming apartment!! I could enjoy staying here Michael longer. The view of the marsh is serene. Be aware that this home is accessed via steep stairs- no problem for us, but would be problematic for those with mobility issues. Highly recommend!
