To start...communicating with VRBO and eventually the property owners was a positive experience. Upon arrival we were met by Tom and Susan (and Beau their lovable 4 legged pup). They all made us feel right at home. Gave us a wealth of information about the place and things to do around the area. The place itself had everything you could think of. For us it was the view of the lake, the lovely sunsets and just sitting around the bonfire almost every evening with family. The property is spacious. Plenty of room for lawn games. Took trips to Niagara Falls and a tour of the Locks. All in all it was a relaxing week that ended too quickly! THANX again to Tom/Susan/Beau!!!
Our second time here!!! Great place! Great people! Beautiful sunsets!!! We will be back for a third stay!
Tom and Susan have an amazing property and they provide amazing service. I have been renting lakehouse properties for family vacations for the last 30 years in New York and this one by far was the best. Not many come with 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, an open living floor plan and amazing location at a very reasonable price. The property is on 80 acres and is like a game preserve if you love nature. There is a basketball court, swing set play area, roku tv to watch the games, WiFi and the nicest owners you will ever meet. Now throw in the local wineries you can visit with blackbird cider being just down the street and you have fantastic vacation memories you deserve. Thank you Tom and Susan.
This place is a perfect lake house in every sense. It is has the nostalgia of the Great Lakes summer homes, but is equipped with modern amenities and technologies. The house is set up so that everyone has privacy and can do their own thing, but there are plenty of shared spaces for cooking, dining, games, and relaxing conversation. The views are spectacular all around--lake, woods, sweeping lawn--and the sunsets are unforgettable. We had a wonderful time and certainly will reserve again. Susan and Tom were for great hosts--warm and generous beyond expectations. I wish I could give this vacation home ten stars!
Overall the property is very nice. User friendly Well maintained. Easy access Clean The managers were very pleasant and very helpful always available to make our stay easy and stress free.
Our family enjoyed the cabin and the property so much that we have already made plans to come back in a few months!
Great stay at a beautiful house on Lake Ontario. Tom and Susan are wonderful hosts. From the long tree lined driveway, to the cozy house, to the sprawling property, to the views of the lake....not forgetting the beautiful sunsets that can be seen lakeside and the sunrises that we caught many mornings while walking our dog...this was a great place for a family vacation. Drives into Lockport - Erie Canal Trail and Locks 34/35, Lewiston - Restaurants/Bakeries and Niagara Falls were all easy.
Loved everything about the house! Lake views were amazing, we took advantage of the games chest, excellent wifi for my kids to do their schoolwork. There was even a Roku so that my mother could watch her YouTube trains and kittens. Comfortable beds, so silent at night! Friendly visiting neighbor dog, and a cat that peered in the porch window at us daily. Add in host communication that was beyond fantastic, you get the perfect getaway.
My husband, two kids, and I have been eager to get out of Buffalo and this was a perfect get away spot for us! I will definitely look at coming again soon... Thanks Tom and Susan for being fantastic hosts
This was a cozy Lakehouse with unbeatable views of the lake. Wood stove inside, kept us nice and warm, while the deer and scenery of the property provided many great photos. We hope to be back in the warmer weather to experience the lake in summer! Hosts were very accommodating and so kind. Even our dogs had a blast.
This is a beautiful property on Lake Ontario. We were all enthralled by hearing the waves. We were there during windy weather and sunny. The sunset on our last night was gorgeous. The property is large with room for the kids to run and play outdoor games. I recommend this place for families or for quiet.
Our hosts are wonderful. The cabin comes with everything you could need. The space inside, the views. Everything was an awesome getaway. Couldn't have asked for better. We will be booking and staying again.
Everything was wonderful. The place was clean and very spaces. Gorgeous views of the water.
The property is huge and amazing. It offers a great amount of privacy with tree and brush lines on both ends. The house is a quarter mile off the road and offers endless activities for any child with a creative mind. The owners’ house is the only other house you see and they are some of the nicest, accommodating people I’ve ever met. The issue of privacy was never a problem but they were very accessible if we needed them for anything. Very enjoyable people to speak with. Fantastic view of the lake and the house is a very cozy lake cottage. We had a large group of 10 adults and several children and there were no complaints from anyone. I almost don’t want to post this review for my own selfish reasons but it was to wonderful of a spot not to share our thoughts on. We hope to utilize this location again down the road.
We had a great extended weekend at the property. It is a great house with an amazing view of Lake Ontario. Susan and Tom were great hosts who were there to answer any questions and provided us use of kayaks, canoes, bikes for adults and kids, and even some kitchen appliances like a crockpot and a griddle which saved us a ton of room packing and traveling. The house is close to many things to do including Niagara Falls. We would definitely stay here again as everyone had fun and had a great chance to relax.
This cabin is exactly as described. Only the pictures do not do it justice. We were blown away with the views and the setting. Niagara is an easy drive if you want to visit the Falls. Such a lovely area. Tom & Susan were amazing hosts. Bo, the Mascot Golden Retiever will stop over for a visit, he is a sweetie. If you want to visit Lake Ontario, this is your place, we loved it and would definitely return. Thank you!!
We had a great time. The place is great and the hosts were very generous. Would stay again.
Super Clean, relax, friendly owners and dog, beautiful place, amazing home😌👌
This property was perfect for our relaxing family getaway. There were plenty of options for kid friendly activities and lots of space to enjoy them. We took advantage of the boats and bikes during the day and used the fire pit at night while enjoying the sights and sounds of Lake Ontario. This secluded, waterfront property was exactly what we were looking for. Susan and Tom were wonderfully hospitable and we would definitely stay here agin.
We're 10 guys that all grew up together, in our early 30s and 20s, that wanted a lake house for the weekend with a yard to get together again at. The property had a big field out back we were able to play whiffle ball in all day, ample amounts of firewood to have fires all night, a big set of kayaks and paddles with a walk in launch to use the lake, and a good front back yard by the house to watch the waves and hang out. The owners are incredibly friendly, and their dog Bo is just awesome. I recommend it, we will probably be coming back.
What a wonderful vacation we just had! Everything was perfect! The house was very clean, the size was perfect for 4 of us (with two empty bedrooms to spare). The view from the bedrooms and the living room (even kitchen) was picture perfect. Daily dose of sun rise and sunset by the lake is just what we needed for 2020. Every night we stayed up late to enjoy the beautiful sky with stars and milky way. There were so much to do if we wanted (bike, fishing, kayaking, and local exploration including the famous Niagara Falls) or we could just choose to relax and read a book with lake wave and wind as background noise. Susie and Tom were the perfect hosts who were so attentive. Every day they made sure that we had everything we needed, and gave us guidance on activities and local specialties. I cannot complete this reviewing with our new pal Beau, who is a golden retriever. I am not a dog person, but you cannot refuse the friendliest dog you will ever meet. He certainly added a lot of fun to our peaceful trip. We will definitely go back for another retreat, and certainly will recommend this property to anybody who will ever consider a peaceful getaway.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barker Lakehouse. This was our 2nd visit with Sue and Tom, who, as always, are very gracious hosts and who are a wealth of knowledge regarding the surrounding area. The house has all the comforts of home. It is clean, and well stocked - with a well equipped kitchen, large supply of linens and towels, and lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors. The house is large, while also offering cozy areas for quiet relaxation. The house is conveniently located, within an easy drive to area sites such as Niagara Falls, Old Fort Niagara, Olcott Beach, 30 Mile Point Lighthouse. It is also located near some of our favorite wineries, farm stands and Amish shops. We spent our week at the house relaxing, sightseeing, kayaking on the Lake, sitting around campfires, and enjoying the most beautiful sunsets. Thanks Sue and Tom for providing us such a wonderful place to have a relaxing vacation! We hope to see you again in the future!
It was such a nice, relaxing stay. The sunsets on the lake are A+. All the necessities were provided. Plenty of rooms, a nice big common area, back deck and table, and a great fire pit. I have nothing bad to say about this place, and I'd love to come back!
Clean, neat, well stocked and more than we expected. Available for our use while there: canoe, life jackets, swim toys, and games, puzzles etc. in case of inclement weather. List of nearby recreation, restaurants and fishing spots nearby furnished. The sunsets were gorgeous and our hosts Tom and Susan couldn't have been better hosts. We'll definitely be back!
This is the most beautiful, solidly built classic wood lake house. The layout of the bedrooms is perfect for several families, friends, or extended family. We spent a heavenly week here with close friends, and Tom and Susan were so kind and welcoming. We would love to come back to this beautiful house!
We will be coming again and again. Love this place. It's perfect for our family and we loved our stay. Plenty of activities for kids right on the property and the adults can kick back and take it slow. Hosts are wonderful folks. Can't wait to come back!
It starts with the tree lined quarter-Mile Unpaved driveway. There are so many things to do without having to leave he place. You can hike on the large beautiful wooded property. Kayaking, boating and fishing. It’s a wonderful place to lay out and read a book while the day slips away. They also have bicycles for taking long rides through the dairy, corn and wheat farms. There isn’t anything like this paradise and The hosts, Susan and Tom, responded immediately and did everything they can to ensure that we had an amazing stay. They even bought groceries ahead of our stay that we’re waiting for us when we arrived. Our family was so sad to leave after staying there for about two months.
The host was amazing! The house was amazing! All of the things that we needed to conduct some offsite training were there. Look forward to many more stays at the lake house!
Sue and Tom are wonderful! The house/lodge is clean, well laid out, and has everything you need in the kitchen. The beauty of the surroundings allows you to stay put and have an enjoyable, relaxing, vacation if you don’t want to venture out.
Tom and Susan were amazing hosts! Their home was cozy and perfect for our week fishing! I would highly recommend it for any occasion and look forward to staying at their home again! Thank you Tom and Susan!
Thanks Susan and Tom for letting us share your wonderful slice of heaven. Your Lodge is comfortable, incredibly well appointed and right in the middle of some of the best fishing in New York. We enjoyed every minute. Skip and fly fishing friends.
Great stay. Everything was wonderful
This place is magical. An absolutely perfect place for a family get away. Lots of places to explore for our kiddos. Relaxing here is easy with the lake being the vocal point of all of the windows. Susan and Tom are perfect hosts. Anything we needed they were just a phone call away. Can’t wait to visit again!
The house is very conducive to a large group. This was our second family reunion at the house. We had fun! Thank you Tom and Susan.
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay . When you walk in the front door , the view of the lake takes your breath away . Kayak , fishing poles , bicycles for your use provided . Comfortable beds and nice linens and pillows for a great sleep . My sisters and our mother painted Christmas ornaments and sewed and played cards . We had a barbecue for 10 more family members who joined us for a dinner . Quiet and private setting . We will be back . Oh, and most of, all Sue and Tom , the owners, were so friendly and made us so welcome . We fell in love with their big friendly golden retriever who now and then came over from next door to give us some love .
I can't say enough wonderful things about this house. It truly is a hidden gem! So much to at the house. There's fishing, kayaking, a nice bike ride. The list goes on. The home itself is beautiful and well taken care of. Very very clean and lot of sleeping room floor big families. The views are just simply amazing! Thank you for having us and can't wait to go back!
Ms. Susan, Mr. Tom and bo ( the dog) are wonderful host. They helped us prior to our stay to find a local photographer for family photos, brought us some local fruit and vegetables then assisted us with our stay in NYC. Waking up to the waves crashing on the rocks, the beautiful sunsets, then seeing the Monarch Butterfly migration was awesome. The kids (big and small) loved the yard space for football, play area, and of course the dollar game. We hope to return in a few years.
We made this trip with our two adult children their spouses and our 2 grandchildren. This was a fantastic place to stay with a group with lots to do with the kids and adults had plenty of space to do whatever they wanted without getting in one anothers way. The owners offered assistance every day and made suggestions for restaurants and places to go. Our grandsons thoroughly enjoyed fishing and flying kites. It was approximately 1 hour drive from Niagara so we would go for the afternoon or evening depending on what we were doing that particular day.
Thank you Tom and Susan for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. It was more than any of us expected. The view was spectacular as well and the sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed our daily visits from Bo. Anyone that is considering staying here, will not be disappointed. Bt the way, they were the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had!!! Thank you again for sharing your home and stories with us all. Look forward to seeing you next year.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at Thomas and Susan's house on Lake Ontario. It was so relaxing to watch the sunset each day. We enjoyed our visits from Beau, too. Highly recommend people try this peaceful getaway.
What a fantastic place to visit! The views of the lake and the sunsets were fantastic. It’s a perfect getaway spot with plenty of room to spread out and explore. We played card games on the deck, ate outside, my son shot baskets, and my dog was in heaven at the lake. The hospitality of our host (Tom) and hostess (Susan) were unmatched. Totally recommend it, and we’d go back in a heartbeat.
Tom and Susan were extremely helpful with the entire process from reservation to check out. The location was amazing (away from everything which made it very peaceful!). We enjoyed Niagara Falls before checking in and then went back the next evening for fireworks (only about 45 min to 1 hour drive). We explored the nearby wineries, farms, and Amish markets and enjoyed the kayaks daily on the water! Tom and Susan also offer outstanding support for military families! Overall - GREAT EXPERIENCE!
The owners, Tom and Susan, went out of their way to be helpful during our stay. They supplied a kiddie pool for our grandchildren, and 3 grills for our over sized reunion which had about 45 in attendance. With canoes, kayaks and an enormous yard we didn't feel cramped at all. The house was perfect for our stay when we unwound from days at the Falls and Olcott Beach . Right at the edge of Lake Ontario we could look out and see nothing but lake, sky and magnificent sunsets. We would love to return sometime.
We have enjoyed this property for years! We enjoy the location and the access to the lake and local attractions. I grew up in Newfane (nearby) and love catching up with my family here. Tom and Susan are great hosts! I recommend this property to anyone!
The house is located in a wonderful location and provides plenty of space and privacy to really kick back and relax. Visited several wineries and quaint towns in the area. Close to Niagara Falls and Erie Canal. Our family enjoyed the kayaks, canoe and rowboat that were provided. My husband and I enjoyed the large master suite with beautiful views of the lake. While our teenage boys enjoyed having their own living space on the first floor. Tom and Sue were wonderful hosts, quickly responding to any questions we had and provided helpful information about the surrounding area.
We arrived at the house after a long drive from Wisconsin only to be greeted warmly by the lovely Tom and Sue and of course Beau the Golden Retriever....our real host. Both the location and house were perfect for our family trip. The house was warm and comfortable and provided for our every need while we were there. Beau would stop in several times a day to make sure we were happy. We saw beautiful sunsets and enjoyed viewing the skyline of Toronto across the lake. Although it was a bit chilly to take advantage, Tom and Sue provided a canoe and kayaks should we have been able to get out in the water. We did cook out over a fire one night as a firepit was provided. The location was a perfect distance to family members who live near Hamlin and Niagara Falls. In between we had a tour of the Erie Canal, visited wineries and enjoyed some of the charming and authentic beach towns in the area. If we come back to the area we would stay with Tom, Sue and Beau again and it would feel like home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lakefront cottage. Susan and Tom are the best hosts - very gracious and accommodating. Beau was a welcome visitor always. The sunsets were awesome. Listening to the gentle waves just steps away from the Lakehouse is as relaxing as it gets. We hope to come back next time.
Susan and Thomas are wonderful owners who really give the personal touch. And Beau the golden retriever is the sweetest host, coming to check on his visitors. Beautiful lake access beautiful property. We will be back!
Came up to do some fishing with a large group and the place was the perfect location, having everything we could need. The fishing was awesome, the place was comfortable. A great trip. We will be back!
Great trip again to New York the fishing was great the house is perfect the views are breathtaking will definitely book this house again
We loved the property! The highlights are the decks, balconies and views of Lake Ontario, and the open floor plan is conducive to enjoying company while turning out delicious meals from the well-equipped kitchen. The layout is also conducive to different sleep patterns of multiple people with the ability to get shut eye while others carry on. The property was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and hosted by lovely, accommodating hosts. We look forward to a return trip some day.
Our group of six women enjoyed our stay at Susan and Tom's lodge. We raced the Mighty Niagara Half Marathon on Saturday but had plenty of time to enjoy the lake (swimming, kayaking). Susan and Tom were very welcoming and made our stay simply perfect. Thank you!!
Our family of five recently rented this charming cottage on the shores of Lake Ontario for a family reunion. We were very pleased with the amount of indoor and outdoor space, the quaint interior and the beauty and quiet of our surroundings. Tom and Susan were gracious hosts, very responsive when we had a question or request. They made us feel at home and we would definitely stay here again!
Six adults and five children fit perfectly in this rustic lake house. The view of Lake Ontario was serene, and you could see it from almost anywhere in the house. We mostly cooked our own food and the house had everything needed to do so. We were provided with plenty of firewood, towels, toys for kids, and much more! The lakes edge isn’t very kid friendly, but there is plenty of grass for children to play in. It’s a bit of a drive to the closest grocery store, so make sure to stop before you arrive.
Nice place and nice people
We just finished three fantastic days in this Barker NY lake house. We were looking for a quiet, large home where our family could relax together That is exactly what we found. The house was very clean and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. I even grilled two nights on a Weber gas grill. While we were in the area we found several fun things to do and see. -we rode bikes to the lighthouse at a near by state park -we went to Bye”s home made popcorn -picked cherries at singer farms - Took a trip to Niagara Falls for maid of the mist. -saw a million stars in the sky at night. We really enjoyed watching the sunset from the deck Susan was so helpful when we had questions. We wish we had more time to spend here. It was a lovely lake house. Thanks Susan and Tom
We (husband & I, son & DnL, and DnL parents) stayed here for a week and didnt want to leave. Owners, Susan and Tom, were so nice and were a big help when asked about best places in the area. We explored New York and Canada every day and couldn’t wait to return to the peace and quiet and fantastic sunsets every night! We loved the “lodge” look and feel of the house and the occasional visits from hummingbirds and Bo. We definately will recommend this property to everyone and hope to return some day.
Highly recommend this rental on the shores of Lake Ontario. Each day brought awesome and changing views of the lake. Kayaks were made available for those who wanted to get out on the water. Friends and relatives were welcomed by our hosts to join us for some relaxed together time during our stay. A fire ring near the lake, complete with wood to burn, was provided for roasting marshmallows if desired. Our brother who lives nearby brought his horse and buggy over to give us carriage rides by the lake. Numerous walking paths beckon for those who like to get out and walk. Our hosts, Tom and Sue, added the frosting on the cake with their friendliness, making us feel like we belonged there in addition to anticipating and providing for our every need. Overall, we left with many happy, pleasurable, memorable moments.
Awesome place and awesome people. We plan on going back next year!
I can't say enough about our wonerful stay at the lakehouse. Tom and Susan are some of the friendliest people I've ever had the privilege of meeting. They always made sure we had everything we needed. We came to New York for my nieces wedding, and to get reconnected with my sisters and nieces and nephews. We were able to have everyone out at the lakehouse for cookouts, kayaking and just spending time together at this beautiful location. Everyone had so much fun and made many great memories. We will be back again for family reunions or just to relax. Sincerly, Tracey
We had a marvelous stay. The house is right on Lake Ontario and comfortable with lots of views. And we were treated to the full range of views conditions -- from 5-foot waves and high wind to totally flat water, and from storms to (mostly) beautiful sunshine. The 80-acre property was wonderful -- in addition to the very long water line, there was forest, abandoned orchards of apple, pear, and berries, meadows, and more, even a basketball court. The owners, Tom and Susan were also extremely helpful and hospitable.
Step away from the hustle and bustle. The Lake House is a tranquil escape on the banks of Lake Ontario. Eight of us stayed here for a week for our daughter’s wedding. There are five comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms with good showers, and a lovely, large, open living space and kitchen that worked brilliantly for entertaining. We held the wedding breakfast here on the Sunday for around 50 people, setting tables and chairs up outside overlooking the lake. All our guests thought it was wonderful – some went out canoeing and swimming, some went for a walk in the grounds, while others simply sat and enjoyed the views and the company. It made for a most enjoyable occasion. Our hosts, Tom and Susan, were very helpful. They provided us with a griddle, food warmers and waffle maker, and even cleaned the large porch of their own house for us to use should the weather not be so good. As it was, it was a sunny, warm day so everyone enjoyed sitting out by the lake. There was plenty of parking for all our guests. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or, like us, want to host a special event, this lake house is the ideal location. Highly recommended!
When reading the previous reviews of this property, I wondered how any house could always receive 5 star ratings. Stay here and you'll understand. I'd give the home 6 stars if I could! We had 2 families stay here while clearing up our Dad's estate. The lodge became our sanctuary. We were able to begin each day with the sunrise shining through the trees and end each day with the breathtaking sunset over the lake. On clear nights we were able to see the lights from Toronto. The house is well maintained and spacious. We had enough room to spread out but most nights ended up together at the kitchen table reviewing our progress and planning the next day. It was so nice to have the gas fireplace. It took the chill out of the air each morning as we cooked breakfast. Several nights we grilled supper on the deck, where we had the choice to cook with either gas or charcoal. The house is fully stocked with everything you could need. Nothing has been overlooked by hosts Tom and Susan. Their hospitality is unmatched. Now that we have found this gem, we look forward to staying here again.
We had a great time staying at the Lake. The view from the house was wonderful, and we enjoyed wandering around the 80 acres; which included a pond. The house is fully stocked; we cooked Thanksgiving dinner there. The owners were welcoming, gracious, and responsive; all the while respecting our privacy. Thanks for a fun time!
The view of the lake is amazing. Felt like i was looking at the ocean. House is fully equipped. Owners were amazing and very friendly. Will definitely rent again if im in the area
Wonderful stay at the Lake! Beautiful home and gracious hosts. Spectacular views all the way to Canada. Tom and Sue were a delight - Tom even built our evening campfire for us, down at the lakeside bluffs. Very clean, quick ride in to town. We'll be back!
For the third year, 10 college men, friends from the 60's, rented from Susan and Tom. As always a great time, the cottage accommodates us well. I would stay again and again.
We ( 7 of us) stayed at the property last weekend for 3 nites. Place was great. with all the needed amenities. Tom was always very helpful through out our stays. Sunset on Lake Ontario was awesome !!! We also had the opportunity to watch a vicious storm/rain/thunder over Lake Ontario one evening - lake looked like an Ocean. We will definitely go back to the place and recommend it to others.
Tom is the best host you will ever had. We had a blast. Hope to come back very soon
What kind and friendly hosts. The view and property location are breathtaking. The home is a rustic, cozy retreat. It was very accommodating for our multigenerational family vacation. We enjoyed the sunsets on the deck, relaxing in the breeze, swimming in the lake, fishing, kayaking, and exploring for rocks. The lake is transformational from day to day. It is still one day and lively the next. We enjoyed the crashing waves after a storm. We took some beautiful photos. We walked the shoreline and explored the trails. The owners dogs were the highlight of our vacation. They are like animated joy. So friendly and happy. I called to Beau one afternoon from the lake and the next thing I knew he had jumped in and to swam to greet me. This was the best and most memorable moment of our vacation. Lovely vacation.
Loved our stay. Welcoming, charming and beautiful. The sounds and view of the lake, the coziness of the layout with ample of space for large families. We couldn't ask for a better place to escape to during our family reunion. Our hosts, Tom and Sue, were gracious and accommodating. Planning our next trip already!
We rented Tom and Sue's place to be close to the site where our son was to be married. The house and grounds lived up to the pictures and descriptions, and more! First, the view is amazing, and it was so relaxing to fall asleep to the sounds of Lake Ontario lapping on the shore at night. With help and advice from Tom, we staged the rehearsal dinner at this house. It was a great success, and everyone was impressed with the beauty of the setting. Our family came and went it waves, and we always had a bed to put them in. Thanks, Tom and Sue. You couldn't have been more accommodating, and we will always remember what a fabulous time we had in your lovely home.
We've rented this lodge from Tom & Sue on 3 different occasions. The first time for a vacation, the second for a family reunion, & this most recent time we rented for the week in order to have a surprise 80th birthday party for my parents. Each visit has been absolutely wonderful. Tom & Sue are the greatest & the rental property is fantastic. We arrived on Friday afternoon & set the lodge up for the surprise birthday party on Saturday. We had 27 people come in for the party most from out of state. We had the party catered by a local company called Two Susters and the food was excellent. We rearranged the living room furniture to accommodate 3 8' tables & had an absolutely beautiful view of the lake. My parents were so happy to have all their children celebrate such a special occasion with them and the house was comfortable & spacious enough so that we all had a great visit. This location has it all; comfort, charm; privacy, and beautiful views of the lake front. If you are seeking a place to relax & get away or to spend time with family or friends this is it!
8 boys of 67 stayed with Susan and Tom for a 3 day weekend. This was the best choice we have made in 5 years of meeting to re live our freshman dorm experience where we met in 1967. The lake view, the house, near to Olcott Beach, and the attention given to us by Susan and Tom was beyond excellent. I/we will be back in 2015.
I house was everything that was promised. The kitchen was well appointed; there was a wide array of cookware, dinnerware, etc. The owners were extremely gracious and helpful. We have stayed in many places but rarely have we considered going back, as there are just too many places we want to visit BUT we would go back to this property again because we really felt like this was our second home.
Arrived in paradise, only to be greeted by Tom and Sue two of the nicest people you will ever know. First off the view was worth the 750 mile drive. The location has everything including more than a 1000 feet of shoreline to fish. If we needed it they had it, my parents could have not been more surprised and everything went flawless. We will come back to Lake lodge and you would enjoy it too. Thank you for the stay.
Amazing, Beautiful, and Restful. My husband and I enjoyed an outstanding time in this lovely cabin style home. The treasure of the remote setting on Lake Ontario allowed us to refresh and renew as we enjoyed the peace and tranquility this home offered. There is just something about sitting on the deck in absolute silence while gazing at the magnificent views of the sunsets on Lake Ontario. The large yard with a fire pit was yet another bonus that we enjoyed. The scenery and surroundings were awesome. It was nicely nestled into a secluded environment but within minutes to stores, restaurants and towns. Because of this great location, we were able to enjoy several attractions including Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake in Ontario, and Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, New York. The owners, Tom and Susan, were excellent to work with and their hospitality was outstanding. We would highly recommend this vacation rental and we hope to be back soon. ~ John and Janet Fitzgerald
My wife and I loved the house and property. Beautiful view of the lake. Especially enjoyed waking up to the sound of waves rolling into the breakwall. Plenty of small town activities to keep things interesting. Tom and Susan were perfect hosts. They even brought over some 'welcoming' adult beverages after we arrived too late to make it to the grocery store. Our dog loved the hike around the property and playing with the owner's dogs. We would definitely recommend this rental to other travellers.
YaYa's Getaway - Sept. 27-30, 2013 You will not be disappointed with your stay at this serene Lake House. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. It was not hard to let go of reality and enjoy some much needed relaxation. You can't help sitting on the back deck and just relaxing. The view of Lake Ontario is breathtaking. The sound of the water hitting the rocks, the birds flying and landing on the lake are just some of the sights and sounds we experienced while at the lake house. Niagara Falls is a scenic 40 minute drive away. Close enough yet far enough away to stay out of the hustle and bustle of the big tourist attraction. We did take a day and visit the Falls, however, the stay at the lake house was just as enjoyable. We spent a lot of time just hanging out and enjoying the view. Tom and Susan are great. They were very helpful with everything that we needed. They gave us some great information on things to do next time we come up and Tom even gave us some suggestions on breakfast places on our way back home. Such wonderful people to open up their lake house. We gave the master suite with kitchenette and balcony to my sister who was celebrating her 40th b'day. She had everything she needed. The other rooms were just as described. The lake house is a very quaint house that is very well maintained by Tom & Susan. I highly recommend that you check out the lake house for your next stay near Niagara Falls. I know that we'll be staying again once we decide on the dates for our next trip. Tom & Susan - thank you so much for your hospitality. We'll be contacting you again soon to book our next stay!!!
This property was amazing ! It felt more like home than a rental. Tom and Susan were very attentive to our every need. Wonderful people who made us feel right at home. The pictures of this home do not do it justice. The upstairs master bedroom with kitchenette had high ceilings, double glass sliders onto a large deck where we enjoyed our morning coffee (a great place to get away from my in-laws!)and soak in the views. We have rented properties in multiple countries and states and most were exceptional but the combination of beauty and tranquility was unsurpassed at this location! We so enjoyed the hummingbirds, deer, blue herrons, canadien geese and thankfully the only bears were Yaenglings .Dont bother bringing mosquito repellent there werent any.We lived in Florida so fantastic sunsets were the norm but we never imagined witnessing these stunning sunsets over lake Ontario. THIS IS A MUST RENT PROPERTY Bill and Sonia
Absolutely fabulous property and Tom and Susan were tremendous hosts very attentive to our every need. The pictures posted do not do this property justice. The master upstairs bedroom with double sliders leading onto a huge deck was our haven.Great room to have our coffee and get away from my in-laws. The views were breathtaking ! We have utilized Home Away many times and have rented all over the world, most were extraordinary properties but this combination of beauty and tranquility were unsurpassed. The lake was mystical, at times it looked like glass and at other times we had 4 ft breakers crashing against the sea wall. We lived in FLA so we were accustomed to dramatic sunsets but we never imagined seeing these gorgeous sunsets over lake Ontario! Dont bother bringing mosquito repellent, there werent any. The wild life on this expansive property was captivating, hummingbirds, blue herron, canadien geese, deer and thankfully the only beers were Yaenglings .This is a MUST STAY AT PROPERTY. Bill and Sonia
If you want to rent a getaway from it all, this would be the place to come to. We rented this property with another couple and with all rentals did not know what to expect. This was by far the nicest place I have rented in a long time. Everything was clean and the beds were great. The views of Lake Ontario were calming and each day the water was in a different position. The weather was great this time of year in Niagara Falls, we did have a little rain, but otherwise it was great. The owners were very helpful in letting us know restaurants and such to visit while we were there. The two dogs they have are Rainbow and Sunshine and are the sweetest dogs in the world. I just had to buy them dog treats while we were there. They also had any cooking items you might need, we cooked on the grill, breakfast every morning on the stove, we also cooked a roast one day while we were out visiting Niagara Falls in the crockpot. They have a tennis court, b-ball hoops, playsets for any children you may bring with you, kayaks and a long driveway to talk morning of afternoon walks. It really was a very pleasant vacation and maybe one day we will return there. There is also a $1.00 bill hidden in the house and we kept that going with a new hiding spot, that was fun to find. An absolutely wonderful place, right on the water of Lake Ontario, fantastic views, the lake changes from mirror still to wild and furious, great place to launch a kayak or canoe. The house is perfect, very clean, well stocked, great for several couples, the upstairs bedroom with a small kitchenette with the view of the lake is awesome, more bedrooms upstairs with a bath, then 2 bedrooms and bath downstairs. Downstairs brick floor and barn wood walls add such warm character, and then there is that view of the lake, very hard to leave. Throw into all this the kind, warm, gracious owners, willing to help with anything you might need, directions to the store or pizza place, information about the best fishing in the area...which is great...yet not there to bother you. We have been here 2 years, 2008 & 2009, first year 3 couples, next year 2 couples, and really wish we could go back this year, but will have to wait til next year. Lots to see and do in the area, many farm stands of local produce and fruit, every one friendly, no traffic and rush of city life...each year it gets harder to leave. The fishing at Olcott, the pier at the marina and down below the dam, has been very good both years, end of Sept/first of Oct. We highly recommend this vacation home, a wonderful place to visit.

The house was great. We had nine in our family and there was ample space. The view of Lake Ontario was beautiful off the back deck. The location was close to Niagara Falls and Canada. There were fresh fruit orchards everywhere and we really enjoyed the apples, plums and cherries. Overall, our family had a memorable vacation.
Our experience at the vacation home turned out all that was promised and more! The house was beautiful, clean and spacious, the beds and bathrooms comfortable and the view ovelooking Lake Ontario from two of the bedrooms and the living room simply outstanding! We saw beautiful sunsets, threatening looking waves and water as still as a mirror; the view changed constantly. My husband and I were joyned by my brother, his wife and two daughters from Germany, as well as by our son and his wife, and we had plenty of room. Our pug enjoyed the room to take long walks and exploring the pond on the property, and he especially liked the owners' two Golden Retrievers. The owners could not have been more gracious and helpful. There are many places to see, especially Niagara Falls and other tourist attractions, and nice restaurants. You do need a car! Our stay was great and we can warmly recommend the property.
My husband, myself and our black lab chevy had the pleasure of staying at Susan and Tom's wonderful vacation home last October. We had been vacationing for a week every Oct. in upper NY but this was the first year we stayed at Susan and Tom's. Let me just say... we will never stay anywhere else again! The place is awesome! They are the sweetest people too and their beautiful goldens, Sunshine and Rainbow, are the icing on the cake. We had two other friends join us and they were just as pleased and none of us wanted to go home! We already booked two weeks for next year... can't wait! Thank you for your generous hospitality and your kind nature. Between the home, the hosts and of course the scenery we could not have asked for more. Thanks for a blast!! -Traci, Randy & Chevy Fritz
