One of the newest built homes on Live Oak Island. This modern and spacious 2007 1,930 sq ft 3bedroom plus loft home is on the water and has themed coastal decorations throughout, perfectly situated near the neighborhood boat launch and at the edge of St. Marks Wildlife Refuge. Superb views of bay, gulf of Mexico and canals. Set on pilings with a large deck mezzanine and the main living area and deck on the third level. There is an elevator available by request for those needing assistance.
Our favorite parts of the day consists of viewing the various wildlife, listening to the mullet jump, watching the dolphins enter the bay to feed, enjoying the sunset from any of the deck levels or paddling the canoe/kayak out into the bay and canoe trails. You are minutes away from Shellpoint Beach, Golf, and the St. Marks Lighthouse.
The home has Hughesnet Sattelite WiFi for checking mail, central heat and air, washer/dryer, gourmet kitchen completely stocked with everything you need but your food (including upscale appliances-gas stove and a convection oven). There are ceiling fans and televisions in all bedrooms (5 HD LED flat screens in total). Master suite opens out onto the upper deck. The master bath includes the laundry, a jacuzzi tub, bidet, and spacious walk-in closet.
The 4th level loft allows for more sleeping possibilities with 2 twin beds and living area with a large 55 inch HDTV flat screen smart television, dvd and gaming systems (Wii and XBox 360).
Main living area includes gas-powered fireplace, dining area, and large 55 inch flat screen smart television with Blu-ray/dvd player and surround sound system. Dish Network Satellite (America's Top 200) is provided in both the den and loft common areas. A library of books, magazines, cds, dvds, board games are provided for your use. But most of your time will probably be spent enjoying the views, the quiet sounds of nature, outdoor propane grill, patio tables, kayak/canoeing, fishing (4 poles provided), and exploring the area. There are two sets of golfclubs: Callaway Big Bertha graphite irons and Ping Black Dot Steel irons as well as a basketball goal and Head tennis rackets for your use. Three mountain bikes are also available for riding on these quiet palm and oak hammocked streets.
Master Suite has a queen bed, master bath and sitting area
Bedroom 2 - Queen bed
Bedroom 3 - Queen Bed
Loft - 2 twin beds and sitting area
We had a wonderful time with our family Actually saw Dolphins feeding in the the csnal right at the house. Beautiful area to stay in. Went to Wakulla for the boat ride, our 3 yr old grandson loved it.
Loved everything about the home and area. We stayed at Hilton Head a few weeks prior to staying here and honestly liked this one more. Views were similar but just less busy here. We also saw dolphins every day from the deck! They visited the same time around 10am every day feeding on schools of small fish. Once they came all the way to the nearest bank! Caught about 40 small pinfish right from the back yard/sandy beach using a tiny hook and some bacon. Used them for bait at the beach and caught some big sail cats. Also caught some sail cats from the back yard area. Visited the local state park and took the boat tour where we saw manatees and gators. Visited the light house beach for awesome views and fishing, also saw dolphons there. The house was lovely, spacious, clean, and has everything you need including a Keurig, ice maker, grill, kayaks, and even an elevator to bring all your luggage up instead of lugging it the stairs. Neighbors are mostly quiet but sounds echo easily there so its not hard to hear commotion from accross the sound. A+++ experience and the owners are A++++. We will be staying there again.
The home was everything we had hoped for and much more! It was spotlessly clean and very well-stocked. The furniture and beds were very comfortable as well. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the dolphins and pelicans and even had some stingrays swim by. The sunsets are gorgeous and the night sky is amazing! Our kids really enjoyed taking bike rides and using the kayaks. The home has everything you could possibly need! The owners are also very helpful and quick to respond. We are planning on coming back again next year!
The house was everything in the description and more. Pictures cannot capture its beauty; inside and out. The dolphins came at 3:30 on three different days. They come SO close. You could spend your days never leaving the property and still have the plenty to do and explore; although, charter fishing was pretty amazing with Viking Coastal Charters. The house was supplied with all that you need. Probably our favorite VRBO ever and we’ve stayed at many.
The home is set up high with a lovely water view. Very peaceful and lots of wildlife, including birds and dolphins. Very pretty and modern home and great hosts!
Everything was great. Like other comments, the shower in the master bath was not the best set up.
Large, clean, and well stocked house. The views from the top deck were everything. Beautiful sunsets and you may get to see dolphins! PLUS star watching, you will see so many stars. We loved the location, very close to great places to hike including St Marks NWR. Would highly recommend.
This is a great get away for a family. The house is spacious and well provisioned. Plenty of toys (bikes, kayaks, basketball goal, fishing poles) and the kitchen has everything you need. Great grill outside. Three levels of outdoor furniture. You can see the Gulf of Mexico from the deck. The best surprise is the walkability. The paved road to this property has a long straight away to the house which is really just a peninsula road created many years ago by heavy equipment to reach Live Oak Island. The same way they built a road to Key West. This long stretch becomes a fantastic walking or jogging or biking venue with beautiful water and delta views on both sides. There is virtually no traffic on the road so it's great for walking the dogs as well. You see a car coming from a long, long way if one comes along, which is unlikely. The house has tons of movies on DVD. The house is essentially a 4 bedroom house but the loft serves as a 4th bedroom. It has two twin beds. Cell phone coverage is 2 bars on Verizon, which was enough for me to hot spot video from You Tube. There is a nice public Gulf of Mexico beach about 5 minutes away at Shell Point. Virtually zero traffic at this island. There are very few houses on the island and most are second homes with no one in them in the winter months. Winter paradise. But be prepared for it to be shorts and short sleeve weather one day and freezing cold the next. That's just the way it is in Florida on the Gulf in the winter.
Our family spent the weekend visiting family that lives in the area. This house and location made for a great, memorable vacation. The views over the bay are spectacular, mornings spent watching the dolphins put on a show. The house was even more spacious that what the pictures portrayed. Kayaks, bikes, fishing poles made for some great outdoor activities. The kitchen (and cookware) was well appointed for our family of 8. We will definitely book this again on our next visit to Crawfordville.
The perfect place if you're looking for creature comforts AND amazing sunsets...without crowds! We could not have found a more wonderful place to relax. Everything was immaculate and in working condition. Thoughtful labels were found above each light switch so we could know what turned on what! The open, fully equipped kitchen was a joy as was the washer & dryer, the comfortable beds (with much better than average linens), the fluffy towels, and enough toilet paper and paper towels to last the week! The third floor deck is an amazing place for bird and dolphin watching and outside meals. We are pretty sure it was either a manatee or small submarine that drifted by one day at dusk (we're betting it was a manatee). The elevator was a huge convenience and our dog was welcome (small and reasonable pet fee required). Pretty drive to fresh sea food shops in Panacea (we cooked in every day due to Covid-19). Almost everyone we encountered at stores, state and federal parks, etc. wore masks and were safe distancing, if that is of concern to you. The owners have gone to a great deal of effort to make this house a welcoming home and we feel fortunate to have found such a safe, comfortable and quiet haven. We will definitely return, but will request a TWO week stay next time. Thank you, Phil and Rebekah!
This home was truly amazing with its balconies and views and accommodating indoor space as well. Having access to kayaks was an added bonus that my family enjoyed. The owners of the home were helpful and easy to reach. I've never stayed in a home that I wanted to return to as much as this one. It
We were looking for a “off the grid” vacation and this was perfect. Fishing off the deck, kayaking in the bay. Beach is nearby. Highly suggest the drive to mashes beach over shell point. Perfect vacation for our family.
Had a great time! Would certainly stay here again
This is a great place to get away from the crowded areas of Florida. The scenery is beautiful. You can fish, kayak, canoe, take leisurely strolls around the area, and ride your bike without having to load everything up in the car. The dolphins provide quite a show in the late evenings as well. It was a very quiet area as well which was surprising because there are other houses close by. Would definitely go again. It would be amazing to spend a winter here.
We thankfully had beautiful weather but this house would’ve worked perfectly even if it rained the whole time. So many games, movies, books. The showering options in master isn’t the best, but that huge tub makes up for it. The house has more than enough dishes in the large kitchen. Plenty of grass on the lot for our dog to enjoy. Basketball goal was a perk. House is large and it was very clean! We would recommend.
This house was perfect for what we needed. Lots of room, quiet area and thankful they allowed us to bring our dog.
Very quiet and peaceful with great sunsets and frolicking dolphin
Fantastic home with everything you could want. All as described. Large and spacious home too! Communication was great with owners as well. Definitely recommend. We love the Forgotten Coast!
Nothing but the highest complements. The house was amazing and the views are stunning.
Phil and Rebekah are the best! They are so accommodating which makes your visit to this special place even better! I have stayed there several times and it is always wonderful. Waking up to the beautiful view, changing tides, and birds is just a start to all the unique opportunities the area has to offer. It is a paradise for those who love nature.
Fun house in a good location
The home was lovely and met our needs. The access to the elevator for my elderly parents was a huge benefit as well as luggage, groceries etc. Can't help mother nature but when the weather cooperated the sunsets were simply beautiful. Remember you are in Florida on the water so think of light weight longsleeve or insect spray for evenings. Owner was very responsive to any needs/questions we had.
Perfect house for larger group. Came in for sons graduation, and took an extended weekend stay. Loved kayaking, fishing, hiking just up the road, Shell Point Beach 10 min away, and all around just relaxing. It is impossible to get more peaceful!
Comfortable place with the most amazing night sky view. We loved taking out the kayaks and just relaxing on the deck at night
it was the perfect place for a large group
One too many cockroaches. We could deal with the geckos. Not the cockroaches. I would also recommend you oil your reels. Couldn’t wind them. Throw a couple bottles of bug spray in drawers or make sure renters know to pick some up. . Between the mosquitoes and no seeums it was tough and too far to just run to the store. Beautiful sunsets. Great setting.
As promised! Next time we'll stay longer
Our stay was outstanding. The house was lovely with all the amenities needed. It was a wonderful place to gather with family. Thank you for opening your home and allowing us to spend 4 amazing days together. We will be back!!!
We had a wonderful stay. Property owner communicated well. Home was clean. We used the kayaks and canoe and had a great time. We could not use the bikes as the tires were flat and chains rusted. We were able to use 4 of the 5 fishing poles as one of the reels were broke. This didn’t stop us from having a great time. The second level deck offered a great hangout out of the sun. Wakulla springs is a short drive for extra fun. We also discovered a boat rental and went out boating and hung out at the “sandbar” in the ocean and had a blast. We will more than likely be visiting again in the future!
Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Appreciated all the helpful ideas of local restaurants and attractions to see. Owners were wonderful to work with and went above and beyond to make our week a great vacation!
We had an amazing stay!!!! This was our second time being here and it was so nice! Thank you so much for the pleasure of staying in your beautiful home! From the pet dolphins that joined us for lunch daily, to all of the built in excursions, kayaking, fishing, we had a blast. I love the character and each special decoration. We can't wait to book again. Every time we have to leave we feel like we're leaving home. This was the perfect place to introduce our Memphis family to Florida. The view, the breeze, everything was just breathtaking. And the neighbors were also so friendly. Highly recommend!
Peaceful, relaxing location right on the bay. Gorgeous sunsets! It was an absolute treat watching, birds, fish and dolphins play in the water right from the deck. Stovetop and outdoor grill was tricky to light but all in all just a great getaway spot.
Great location to enjoy the serenity of the bay
We had a great stay and the owner was very accommodating. There is everything you need here, kayaks, bikes, crab pots and lots more. Beautiful quiet location with a short ride to the beach....
I would highly recommend this home. The owners have thought of everything, it has one of the best views in the area. If you like being outdoors and on the water, this is a great spot!
We rented this beautiful home from shortly before Christmas through New Years! The sunsets were gorgeous and it was so incredibly quiet and relaxing. The view of the stars at night was incredible with no traffic noise at all! The house was everything it was protrayed to be. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cooking pots, pans and casserole dishes, the place was clean and obviously well loved and taken care of. Multilevel decks, with secure railings with seating everywhere. It was very comfortable with plenty of room to sprawl out. The elevator was a big plus, especially with my 85 year old mother, It was also great for getting groceries and luggage into and out of the house! Even though It was chilly a lot of the time we still enjoyed the use of the kayaks. There were plenty of outdoor things to do. We even found a croquet set. The younger people enjoyed gaming up in the loft, and there were lots of movies to watch on the days it was cold or rained. If your looking for a place to get away from it all - this is it! This isn’t a beach house type rental, although the house sits right on a canel, and you can see the bay in the near distance. But this is exactly what we wanted peace and quiet with lovely views of the water, the open sky and nature. St. Mark’s wildlife national park is close by, and so is Wakulla Springs. Two places you don’t want to miss! We discovered a little park and beach area at Shell point about 15 minutes away where we took the granddaughter to play in the sand and the on the small playground. It would be a nice place to swim in the summer time. Watching the wildlife in the canal was a big hit with everyone. We even spotted an otter one day. This location is truly old Florida at its best! We enjoyed our stay and loved the place!
My wife, six children and I had a wonderful three-night stay at the Salty Pelican. The home is absolutely beautiful - high up above the ground, with both an elevator and a very nice storage/sitting area halfway up a multi-landing staircase. At the top, off the kitchen, is a wonderful deck with plenty of seating that looks across a canal to a beautiful small bay - fish splashing , birds feeding, and flocks of ducks flying through gorgeous sunsets to roost in the river. Stepping inside there is a stunning Great Room with a large dining table, well-equipped kitchen with bar stool seating, and a large living room with plenty of couches and comfortable chairs. Above the Great Rooms is a loft and a second TV with video games - a great lair for the kids. Three large bedrooms on the main floor, two full baths, and two beds in the loft provided ample sleeping space for our family of eight (parents, teens, and young adults). Our girls (14 and 12) had a blast paddling around in the two kayaks provided, and we could use the canoe to chase them down if they wandered too far away. Really wonderful place; we look forward to coming again.
We really enjoyed staying at the Salty Pelican. The property is on an inlet and is pretty secluded. It was great for our family. We really enjoyed the canoe, kayaks and fishing equipment. These were important asset to our trip. We wanted to ride the bikes but the tires were flat and we couldn't find the pump. The home itself has an amazing view of the bay and access to open water. There were some little issues with the equipment - one of the burners on the stove didn't work right and one of the pocket doors was off its track, but we were able to make it all work. We would stay here again.
We loved it! It’s beautiful to just sit out on the deck and enjoy the view. We saw dolphins jumping and feeding, and while kayaking, we saw manatees and sea turtles. It’s easy access to just slip out on the water in the kayak or canoe. The house has everything you could possibly need. We had to leave early because of hurricane Michael, but the owners were so responsive and helpful. We’ve been paying for them! We hope to be back!
We spent a week in the Salty Pelican and had a great time. It's the perfect base for fishing or paddling adventures or you can have plenty of fun just watching the dolphins chase fish from the deck. The house itself is just as described although the photos don't quite do it justice.
Great weekend with friends. House had all the amenities. Waterfront was ideal for kayak fishing. Sunsets were amazing every night.
This house was perfect!! We stayed here for a few days during July 4th and I can say that we will definitely stay here again! The fireworks were unbelievable! The views, sunsets, and stocked kitchen were a definite plus...not to mention the elevator! We literally never used the stairs...I mean hey we were on vacation! We caught crabs in our crab nets and even used the kayaks to do some sightseeing! The kitchen has everything you need so a few basic groceries will do you. The bedrooms and bathrooms are fully furnished and we had no complaints. This house is also pet friendly which made it an even better vacation to have our little fur baby with us! It was just me and my husband and it was very spacious! We also loved using the outdoor grill on the 4th for our steaks! Loved being on the water and on Live Oak Island. It's nice being tucked away in this beautiful area and more gorgeous home!
Our third stay. Need I say more?
We spent a week in this beautiful house away from it all. This place has everything. Entertainment for the kids both inside and out. From the basketball hoop to the kayaks, to the bikes, to the fishing, to the Wii, to the board games, to the many movies on DVD. Truly a great place for the family to get away. The owner is responsive and helpful. We enjoyed some of the most spectacular sunsets on the deck while watching dolphins playing in the lagoon. Highly recommended, and we hope to return again in the future.
Beautifully kept home; perfect for a family vacation. They thought of everything! We had an 8 month old grand child with us; they had a highchair and baby life jacket! The elevator was a nice feature since I have a hip injury that makes it difficult to climb steps. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoe ride, along with fishing in the back yard. Sunday it rained all day so we had an opportunity to sit around as a family, make dinner and play board games. The owners were so good about emailing us to make sure everything was okay and that we were enjoying our stay. We will definitely return!
There were all kinds of extras that came along with staying here! Beautiful house with a beautiful view! Good fishing even in the canal, but if you go a little further out its great! We will definitely stay here again!
The Salty Pelican was the perfect place to get away! The house was spotless and the kitchen was well-equipped. I brought some kitchen items, not sure what to expect, but did not need them. We made use of the kayak and fishing poles and took day trips to Wakulla Springs (boat tour is a must), Tallahassee, and Apalachicola. Phil and Rebekah were very friendly and stayed in touch before and during our trip. We didn't have any issues but felt confident we could reach them if needed. We'd love to stay again in the future.
I have stayed in this special home three times in the last year, which includes two stays in the last month. It has a great floor plan, is spotless, and offers every amenity possible. The owners could not be have been more helpful, accommodating or available. I come to this area in the winter for the nature and birdwatching experience. The home is convenient to Saint Mark's NWR, Wakulla Springs State Park, and the area's Great Florida Birding Trail, as well as numerous kayaking and bicycling venues. After a day out, it is wonderful to come back to the porch with its beautiful view of the marsh, gulf and sunsets. The owners consider pets and the house is very pet-friendly. Though I have not come with children or on a family vacation, the house is well-equipped for that type of visit. This is the only VRBO I have ever rented and would hope they were all of this caliber, but I doubt it!!!
This is a nice quiet location away and definitely not very touristy. The house has lots of amenities that make it very comfortable for families and keep the kids busy (like kayaks, canoe, fishing poles, board games, a Wii with plenty of games) The water in the bay is pretty shallow, but deep enough to get around on the kayak just fine (as long as the tide is in). You'll see plenty of wildlife in the area, like deer, and lots of birds, and crabs as well. There is a nearby beach (about 15 minutes away) called Shell Point beach which is also nice to visit. It's also a very easy drive up to Tallahassee The owners are great to work with, and very responsive. The house was very nice and clean. We had no problems here what so ever and would enjoy going back.
We like to get away from “it all.” This could not have been more perfect. We brought all of our food and did not have to leave, though we did, briefly. We watched the dolphins feed on schools of fish as they worked in unison, along with the amazing variety of birds, everyday in the early evening for HOURS. The vantage point from the deck was a front row seat. I packed my binoculars first and I was glad I did. We wanted to do some stargazing when we planned the trip and that did not disappoint at all. Make sure you plan around the new moon if that is what you enjoy. Amazing stars and meteors to be seen with such little light pollution. The Kitchen is stocked and we were able to make a full holiday meal. The space was just what we needed and the house was unique and immaculate. Also, the elevator was extremely handy. Lol. I scoffed that we would use it, but it took one trip to unpack the car, which we backed up right to the outside elevator door. Neat. This time of year, we chose to relax instead of using all the toys they had to offer. It was just what we needed. It was nice to wash that yucky 2017 off of us. Cheers
When we pulled up, walked up the stairs and entered the porch levels, we couldn't believe the beautiful North Florida view of the bay!! It was so quiet and pristine. Then we walked into the house and were all blown away. The photos on VRBO do not do it justice. It was just beautiful and exceeded our expectations! We had a wonderful family reunion and enjoyed being there. We continued to talk about the house and how great it was during the entire stay! Bathrooms were amazing, modern and spotless! Just 20 minutes drive to Alligator Point State Park that we visited to enjoy the Gulf and the Beach. Went to Walmart in Crawfordville to stock up and then just relaxed and enjoyed! When we return to Tallahassee for family visits, we will definitely stay here again. VRBO App made the check in so easy and the owners kept in touch in advance for added confirmation. Thank you SO much for a great vacation and warm, loving home!
We decided to stay off the beaten path away from the hustle and bustle of most big cities. We were rewarded with a beautiful home on the bay adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. It was calm, quiet, and relaxing. Just what we needed in order to spend some quality time with the family. While we were there, we had some questions; the owner was more than willing to help out when we called. The sunsets were priceless form the 3rd story deck.
The Salty Pelican provided a wonderful experience for our stay. Our group traveled from Louisville to attend the UL/FSU football game. The house is nicely furnished and has anything and everything you could possibly need. There is a canoe, kayak, fishing gear, picnic table, basketball goal and much more. There are board games for the kids and adults. The kitchen is beautifully furnished with everything you need to prepare meals. There is an abundance of outside seating with lots of comfortable furniture, water sports equipment, plenty of grilling area both upper and lower decks, and even an elevator which comes in handy when loading and unloading your gear. The only negative is that the shower set up in the master bedroom is not ideal. It is perfect for a weekend getaway, and the views are beautiful. The sunsets are amazing. Thanks to the owners for a great experience.
Terrific long weekend. Beautiful home and views. Remote and quiet.
We love this place. This was our second time here and it just gets better. It is so peaceful
The home itself is a 5.. nice layout for 3 bedrooms - 2 share a bath (attached to 1 room, off the hallway for the room across the way) and the Master w attached bath and balcony out to the water which is a shared balcony off the front door.. many decks and levels. Very comfortable, good kitchen, etc.. The bathrooms were a bit dated but fine. There was a loft up the spiral staircase w 2 twin beds and a TV. There were a lot of stairs to the front door (we couldn't figure out the elevator) which was fine. The view was spectacular. We saw a dolphin feeding w 2 pelican friends. It was very peaceful. It's a bit far out from anything (grocery, restaurants). We did the river tour at the Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park and ate at the restaurant - super fabulous! We also went to the Gulf Specimen Aquarium in Panacea which was fun too - lots of touch tanks (I'm an adult but still loved it!) and cool fish to see up close. They rescue many injured animals. It was about 30-35 mins into Tallahassee with lots to do (love Clusters & Hops and Edison restaurants). It was a great place to stay if you don't mind driving a bit to get somewhere.
Our family had an amazing weekend! The kids and I loved catching crabs in the crab trap, and my husband took the canoe out to fish for Redfish every chance he could!! The home is beautifully furnished, and we spent every evening on the balcony watching the dolphins fish in the bay! I've never written a review before, but Philip and Rebekah's hospitality, their home, and the local area deserve high praise!!
Our family absolutely loved staying there at The Salty Pelican. We did not want to leave. Couldn't have asked for anything more. It was a beautiful home, very clean and equipped with anything and everything you could possibly want. We loved the views and the sunsets were amazing. My teens loved the puzzles and games in the house. Also the elevator in the house was very useful. Phil and Rebekah were very helpful with giving us a list of restaurants and stores near by. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
You do not want for anything at this house. Thoughtful consideration has gone into comfort, amenities and decor. Beautiful breezes, sunset and dolphin play from the deck and peaceful comfortable nights with sleeping arrangements. A great location for fishing, kayaking, St Marks Lighthouse, Wakulla Springs and even St. George Island. Owners went above and beyond to insure a great stay!
We will definitely be back!!
Best location on the island. The home has everything you need, it is beautiful. The grandchildren enjoyed the upstairs it is every child's dream, many games, movies and toys. We were able to relax during our three day weekend, kayaking, fishing, and watching the sun sets. We drove to Angelo's on Fathers day and enjoyed a wonderful meal on the outside dock. We tried Posey's by the bay on Friday night they have a prime rib dinner that was very good, not a fancy place but good food. We hope to enjoy On The Water again soon. Thanks for sharing your home.
Beautiful weekend for family and friends to celebrate our son's graduation from FSU! Everything was perfect!!!
This is a stunning home and we enjoyed our stay. My children did not want to leave. We are planning on returning in August. We caught crabs and fish from the lake behind the house. I know you will enjoy your visit.
We had a great time at this lovely home visiting with our youngest son and his fiance. The house, deck, and views are spectacular. We enjoyed kayaking around the island and hanging out in the sun on the deck. We went to Wakulla Springs and took the boat ride, which was fascinating ( saw lots of birds and alligators). We also rented paddleboards and kayaks on the Wakulla River at the HideAway and had a blast paddling up and back down river (saw a manatee, lots of turtles and birds, and no alligators). Perhaps most memorable was playing Monopoly one evening and Life the next -- what a delight!
This home was perfect for our family Thanksgiving gathering! The kitchen had everything we needed. The children liked the canoe and 2 kayaks, they had a blast! The view was amazing-from the sunrise in the morning to sunset at nite! The owners did an outstanding job on info and contacting me with questions that I had. The elevator was great, saving our backs due to many coolers of food. Thanks for a wonderful rental!
Thank you so much for sharing your place on the water. We brought our motorcycles so we could ride the coast to PCB ,us our sonhis wife and our niece and nephew. We couldn't have asked for a better place. The view is wonderful and the sunsets are awesome. If your looking for peace and quite this is the place for you. Enjoyed watching the dolphins play. The host has thought of everything from fishing gear to games. No reason to get bored. And the house is amazing.
If you are looking for a peaceful secluded place with a waterfront view this is the place. We watched the dolphins play every morning and afternoon from the deck. We were able to access the gulf in minutes from our location and we got our limit of scallops every trip out. WE WILL BE BACK.
This was our first trip in the area. This home was beautiful and accommodated my family of 8. It was very clean and maintained. The owner was very prompt in answering any questions. My grandchildren enjoyed the excitement of seeing the blue crabs and sting rays in the canal. The bicycles were a plus, as well as, the games provided in the home. We spent most of our time out on the gulf scalloping. We were unable to take advantage of the boat slip only 2 doors down, due to the low tides (that has to be planned for both coming and going). We did launch the boat from Wakulla River and St Marks. The Wakulla River is a beautiful ride!!!! Scallops were plentiful out from St. Marks...we limited out both days! If I could make a suggestion, it would be to maybe add some blinds to the windows and maybe ask that the AC be turned down and cooling prior to arrival. It took 2 days for the house to cool. It was not comfortable with 96 degree weather. The sun coming in the windows in the evening made it difficult to cool...especially when the stove and/or oven were on. The sunsets are gorgeous to see for sure. This improvement would be a plus!!!! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home. Bless you!
The house ,the area , the view and the amenities were awesome This place has everything. Teenagers were a little lost without wifi for a bit, but got over it eventually and ( I think) it was good for them. Awesome time ! Dave & Joanna
My wife and I rented this beautiful, fully equipped coastal home over Memorial Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing more impressive than the outstanding hospitality of the owners was the view... which is EPIC. The welcoming feeling the owner's created by including all the wonderful amenities of their home (from bed linens to bicycles) gave us the sense that we were house guests versus renters, Their communication before, during and after our visit was equally outstanding. VRBO vacation property owners take note: THIS is how it's done.
We spent a great week at the Salty Pelican in early May. The owners go all out to make sure that anything you might need is right there. Of course that is made more important by its being located at the extreme end of the known universe, (which we took as a benefit). It is a bit of a drive to get to them, but there are great seafood restaurants all around. And the fully equipped kitchen made our cook-in evening a breeze, too. I would add Wakulla Springs Lodge and That Place on 319(reopened as Family Coastal Restaurant) to the list of places to eat out. The view from the top porch is outstanding, and we sat out there a lot without being bothered too much by bugs. We saw birds and Dolphins and fish jumping, and a lot of stars. Accommodations were fine with four separate sleeping areas. Complaints? No WiFi, we had to buy some TP, and we really hated having to leave...
We rented salty pelican for 3 nights to attend our son's graduation from FSU in Tallahassee, and enjoy a few days together on the coast. The house is spacious and comfortable. Every convenience has been provided. The views are breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, biking and hiking the area. A great getaway!
The house and views were so much more beautiful than we imagined from the photos. We enjoyed spending time fishing, kayaking, walking along the island and seeing the many attractions in the area. The sunsets were amazing. We loved the seclusion of the island, yet we were only a short drive away from some amazing restaurants. We visited Wakulla Springs, St. Marks and the Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, Apalachicola and Port St. Joe. There was so much to do that we didn't have time to see it all in 4 days. It was one of our favorite Spring break vacations, and we hope to return again.
We stayed at this home during spring break '16 and it exceeded my expectations. The place was clear, spacious, well equipped, just overall adorable. My kids spent a lot of time on the kayaks, fishing and playing around. The home was equipped with games, basketball, bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, there we little time to get bored. The kids loved to see the dolphins come out and play. There is very little around the area but at no time did I feel unsafe or stranded. The only downside is that there is no sandy beach around the property for little guys (we drove about 15 minutes for a little nice area). The St Marks Wildlife Refuge is a must see - we took a boat tour ($8/pp) and it was really nice (beautiful landscape, manatees, birds, etc). Be sure to bring lots of bug spray. I would definitely stay here again.
From the moment we walked in the door we were impressed. The home is beautifully decorated and very clean. Everything you could need is there. It is supplied with food, condiments, paper products, laundry detergent and much more. The owners have thought of everything and go out of their way to ensure a worry free pleasent vacation. They very graciously allowed us to use their kayak's and other water sports equipment. There was plenty of room for the six of us without feeling crowded. Teenage granddaughter loved the loft. One of the highlights was sitting on the porch watching the dolphins and seagulls. They provided a daily show! Well supplied with games which we enjoyed at night after a busy day. We all definitely hope to return soon. Close to Tallahassee and Apalachicola. Many things to do nearby. Many thanks to Phil and Rebecca.
A beautiful home with beautiful views. The hosts are incredible and considerate. A wonderful place to get away from it all. Thank you, Phil and Rebekah!
Enjoyed our stay very much. Owner gave lots of helpful information that made our stay more pleasant. Also was very solicitous of our satisfaction and furnished phone contact in case of any problem, but there was none. Nice, quiet area without lots of traffic. Excellent outdoor seating and cooking areas. Great place for beautiful sunsets. Enjoyed watching birds at low tide. Very tranquil. Great place for hiking and birding, among many other activities. Very clean. All extras (and more) as described in listing. Would stay here again. Everything was handled very professionally, but in a very friendly manner.
Our family spent our Christmas Vacation at this lovely home. This home defiantly exceeded our expectations! The home was beautiful and well decorated. The owners even provided a decorated Christmas tree for us to enjoy. Phil and Rebekak definitely put a lot of thought into providing their guest with everything that they would need to enjoy their stay. The kitchen was large and equipped with everything we needed. They provided books, games, fishing gear, crab trap, kayaks, bikes and even a canoe . The home faces an open bay with marshes along the edge. We spent many of our days fishing, and boating, biking and enjoying the beautiful sunsets, birds and sea life. We watched the dolphins swim in the bay in front of the house each day and had fun catching crabs in the crab trap. It was also duck hunting season and our son's were able to hunt in a location not far from the home. This was the perfect vacation spot for our active family. Thank you Phil and Rebekak for allowing us to share your beautiful home during Christmas. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful place!!
Our family stayed at this wonderful home for Christmas. The home was beautiful complete with even a decorated Christmas tree. The home had everything we needed. We enjoyed the bay and the wildlife. Phil was so nice and responsive to all our questions. We will stay here again!
We had a great time. The house had everything you could need. We kayaked, biked, fished and just enjoyed the scenery. Dolphins came in a couple of the days they were fun to watch. I was a little worried not having WIFI but ended up being perfect not having constant connection to outside world. Did have good cell signal when needed. I would definitely recommend to anyone especially if you have someone who needs use of elevator and or handicapped shower.
Our stay at the Tallahassee vacation home was fantastic. The owners of this property go through great lengths to make this home comfortable & homey. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook with and eat on. It’s a beautiful home from top to bottom with 2 decks that have plenty of comfortable seating and lounging furniture. They have all sorts of movies, books, games, kayaks, a canoe, bikes, and a basketball hoop. You can tell that these owners really care for their home and that they provide all that they themselves would enjoy. This was my very first vacation rental, but my sister who has rented many homes said that this house was so well stocked and neat that she was looking forward to renting it in the future. I would highly recommend this house for anyone looking to rent in this area; you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for a pleasant stay!
What a wonderful experience. We were so happy with the house. We had two teenage girls with us and their squeals of delight when they saw the loft was worth more than I could ever put a price on. We enjoyed the canoe and the girls loved the kayaks. The sunsets were priceless and we enjoyed just hanging out on the deck and watching the birds and the interesting creatures in the water Not to mention the night fishing. What a delight for anyone who is wanting to enjoy the beach but don't want the crowds. We have decided we would like to return. It just could not have been any better.
This was a much needed, absolutely outstanding vacation. We cant say enough about the wonderful, comfortable home and the owners are very in tune with making sure you're happy. The views are amazing and we loved watching the dolphins playing and hunting just outside the back door each morning. If you love peaceful tranquility away from the tourist bustle like we do, this is definitely the place for you! The bikes, canoe, and kayaks are in like new condition and wonderful bonuses. Not a single negative from our entire week here. Thank you so much for opening your beautiful vacation home to us!
My family and I stayed in this wonderful home over Memorial Day weekend, May 2015. The home is roomy, comfortable, relaxing, beautifully decorated, and well appointed. The owners have thought about every detail, from kitchen and cooking utensils to books and games to fishing gear and kayaks. The home faces an open bay with marshes along the edge, and it is a great place to fish and boat. We really enjoyed use of the kayaks and canoe. The sunsets are beautiful, the area is quiet, there are birds and sea life - we saw rays, dolphins, crabs, and fish right in the canal in front of the home. Be ready to bike, walk, explore, boat, fish, relax, and enjoy your stay. Thank you, Phil, for being so helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions. We would love to return!
We had a great time here. It was the perfect house for us to relax. The sunsets were beautiful and the weather was perfect. We saw dolphins and herons. The house was filled with amenities for your comfort. I hope we will get to come back for another stay later this year.
After a long and cold New England winter we were desperate for some sun and warmth! The fishing was great and the house with all of its amenities were exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries.
We spent a week here and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. The home is spacious, clean, inviting, and well equipped. The views are lovely, full of wildlife, with a large deck overlooking the water. If you want to explore the area and restaurants, the owners gave a great list of places to go, things to do. Which we did! We highly recommend a stay! Our most heartfelt thanks!
We particularly liked the kayaks, bikes, crab trap, and CDs that were provided with house. The scenery and peacefulness were wonderful. The house was very well equipt. Highly recommended.
This house was tops. The kitchen was well stocked and we made use of it as we like to cook. The owners have everything a person could need and then some to ensure your stay is a great one. The house and grounds were very clean and the island was very quiet except for a neigbor's New Year's Eve celebration. We enjoyed the kayaks provided by the owners and just spending time on the beautiful decks. So glad we ventured to another area of Florida. We loved the surrounding St. Marks wilderness area and the beautiful beaches and deserted roads. We will definitely go back and explore more next visit. We had all but given up and thought all of Florida was commercialized. This is a perfect get away. Owners were always concerned about the quality of our visit and it showed. Oh and by the way, my father who is 80 thinks your elevator is the cat's meow! Perfect accomodations for elderly or handicapped persons as well.
Enough cant be said about the accommodations and hospitality of the owners of this paradise just far enough from the city life for the tranquility and beauty of the outdoor life. Spectacular third floor bay views with hiking, boating , fishing and biking all at the back door step. Loved the starry nights and moon beams reflecting off the water. The updated furnishings and amenities were awesome. It has all the room you need plus the bonus of a loft with an entertainment center. It was like staying at your own private resort. You want need to bring a thing but the expectations of a relaxing and fun time. Look forward to the next visit. Thanks for making it a great week for our family.
