Great spot for our family while we were in town for a wedding. The views, the seclusion, and the property were all amazing. Hosts provided lengthy directions and instructions which covered everything I would have wanted to know. The welcome wagon (pups Hazel & Pearl) were a delight to see and hang out with. The driveway is about a mile up a dirt road that was easy to handle and got to herd some cows off the road that like to hang in the shade. Basic amenities were provided and the wifi was passing. Hosts are a couple hundred feet up the road, but were respectful of our space. We never required communication, but they provided all information in the guestbook. The most amazing feature was the deck; we braved the heat just to take in those views as much as we could. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Stayed at The Madrone House on a girls' trip with seven other family members ages 3-65. It was a great spot for our group - a fairly secluded and scenic place for us to enjoy each others' company but still a short drive into downtown Ashland. The house was clean and well set up and the hosts were super communicative. Recommend.
Very comfortable house with all amenities. Well-stocked and great selection of cookware, well heated, beautiful views. Outstanding communication with the owners. Absolutely would stay here again, look forward to a return visit!
We enjoyed staying here, perfect place for get away
The home was exactly as described. Super clean, comfortable, well stocked and nicely furnished. We enjoyed our stay - from the beautiful sunrises and vistas, to your sweet and friendly canine host (Hazel) who greeted us upon arrival and each morning, to the warmth of the woodstove and comfy beds in the evenings. The kitchen had everything we needed. Our host was very responsive to our few questions upon arrival. This was a perfect homebase for exploring the surrounding towns and wineries in Rogue and Applegate Valleys. I highly recommend the Madrone House, and look forward to returning soon.
Really nice property - great deck, too. Hosts were attentive and helpful. They may be smoothing out the long driveway but I was glad We had an SUV as it is 3/4 mile long and was pretty rough in places. Might want to check on the progress of that - No way I would have taken my nice car on that road. Very sweet mellow dog greeted us most times when we got back. It’s a good 15 min drive to downtown Ashland through farmland, not bad. If you want to work from there be advised that the internet is not adequate for video and came in and out the whole time we were there. Well furnished. We really enjoyed the stay - they do need to advise regarding the internet issues and the long driveway. Also the beds are some kind of soft foam - I found them pretty uncomfortable but some may like that. Would definitely stay there again. Oh - wish there was some more light near the grill on the deck as we like to eat late.
What a wonderful week my family had staying at the Madrone house. The house is beautiful with gorgeous views of the the surrounding hills and counstryside. The house is secluded with some nice wildlife and a great nightly view of the stars and the heavens! We enjoyed nearby biking, boating and hiking, so many things to do, as well as the Caldera Brewery. We hope to return someday!
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! The property managers were great communicators when we needed them, but they gave us privacy when we didn't. The house was very clean and fully equipped, especially the kitchen. One night we all (ages 1 to 65) gathered around the ping pong table in the garage until midnight and created memories we will laugh about for years. We hope to return next summer!
We had a very enjoyable and peaceful stay at the Madrone house, lots of space outdoors for kids to explore, great location near ashland with plenty of scenic spots nearby. The home was spotless, new and very well appointed. We took a drive around the rogue river scenic spots and watson falls, which was amazing! Overall a great getaway after months in lockdown. Our thanks to the owners for taking care their guests have the best time, and generously sharing this home.
The house was very clean and very nicely decorated! The setting was relaxing and peaceful!
We loved our stay at the Madrone House. The house is well stocked beautiful and comfortable. There is a ping pong table in the garage which we thoroughly enjoyed playing. We were there to spend time with our family and new in-laws, which the Madrone house made for such a wonderful experience. We saw deer on our way from the driveway to the house and a fox. The grazing horses upon entering on the neighboring property are such a majestic site. The owners are very kind people and their two dogs so very friendly, we all loved them. Wonderful place to stay and relax or just come back to after a busy day of hiking, rafting, skiing, theater, shopping, visiting, whatever your doing in Ashland, I would definitely recommend and would love to visit again. Peaceful/Views!!!
This house was the icing on our cake of vacation. We were here for a family graduation, and this rental fit our family perfectly. The house is large, clean and very comfortable. The area is serene and just remote enough that you feel like you’re getting away from it all for a bit. We’ll definitely be back!
This lovely house and property was enjoyed by our family of 6 adults, and 2 kids. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wished we didn't have to leave! The house is very clean and well maintained. Hard to believe we could be less than 10 min from town and still have this much privacy. The views are spectacular. No problems with cell reception or wifi. We had ping pong tournaments and grilled on the deck. Enjoyed morning breakfast and coffee watching the cows graze and listening to birds. Each room has their own temp control, even the bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked and we made good use of the waffle maker! We will definitely stay here again! Thank-You Jennice!
Quality is the word for this house about a 15 minute drive from all the fun of Ashland. About a mile drive up a dirt road puts you in a quiet and serene setting inside a house that is beautifully constructed, comfortably furnished and amply stocked with kitchenware and cooking supplies, toiletries, towels, and linens. Everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The on property owners are friendly and helpful, but also non-intrusive. In the interest of full disclosure a few members of my party were not enthused about the sulfur like smell from the showers. Being a veteran of sitting in hot springs this did not bother me at all. Overall very fine accommodations at a very fair price. Would definitely stay again or maybe at their sister rental nearby.
Three couples enjoyed a week in this lovely quiet country home, seeing plays in nearby Ashland and visiting local wineries. The kitchen is well- stocked for cooking and the home is roomy and comfortable. We loved sitting on the deck every morning with our coffee, under the madrone trees and chattering birds. Fully recommend this house to others who like a quiet country setting.
We had a very comfortable stay at the Madrone House last weekend. The house was well-stocked and had everything we needed, even things we didn't know we needed. The setting is peaceful, the view is gorgeous and the friendly and well behaved dogs were a welcome bonus. This lovely home exceeded our expectations. We will definitely stay here again.
We loved our stay here. It was clean, well organized and has everything you need. The views are amazing and their two sweet dogs add to the overall stay.
We loved this house and plan to stay again when in the area. The home is fully equipped and has an amazing view of the hills. The fireplace kept the entire house warm and cozy. Can't wait to rent again during the summer!
This is a beautiful home tucked up in the hills east of Ashland. It is private and peaceful and a short drive to town. The home is perfectly appointed and comfortable. It accommodated our family of six adults and we even hosted a dinner party for 20. We loved this place! The hosts are very kind and gracious and helpful.
Amazing scenery of Southern Oregon. Secluded, quiet and very peaceful. House was very clean and well stocked. The owners are very thoughtful of seemingly every detail. 10 minutes to Ashland (at most). Restaurants and grocery stores 5 minutes away. You couldn't feel any more remote and still be right next to everything. Kids loved the ping pong table. We enjoyed the deck and the views and stars. We would certainly recommend and will look to make a trip back to Southern Oregon to stay again.
Beautiful, quiet, gorgeous starry nights, home is comfortable, inviting, and has amenities for the youngest to the oldest guest. Close to town and area attractions.
Our family joined my sister's family for a mini family reunion in the Madrone House, and we all loved it! Very clean and comfortable and well-stocked, and the kids absolutely loved exploring, playing in the rocks, and taking long adventure walks with Hazel. We never got tired of the beautiful view from the back patio, and we enjoyed the stars at night. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
Home on the range just 10 minutes from Ashland. Beautiful setting, clean new cozy house with 3 bedrooms. Ample room for our family of 5. Well stocked and comfortable, easy drive to Ashland or a bit further to music in Jacksonville.
We stayed here for a trip to the Shakespeare Festval and had a lovely time - beautiful house in a lovely location!
The Madrone House was a wonderful, peaceful, fully equipped, and a perfect serene getaway for our family of 8! We enjoyed the location so much. We were only a 10 minute drive from the town, Shakespeare Festival, and my husband enjoyed his morning bike rides. A house that can accommodate 4 teenagers is an ideal sanctuary and this was definitely felt in the Madrone house. The owners were incredible hosts and made sure our needs were met! Love the atmosphere and it is definitely on our favorites of family getaways! Can't wait to return!
My family and I came to Ashland to celebrate my daughter's graduation from SOU! The Madrone house was the perfect gathering place for everyone! The home was immacculate and well furnished, the views from the home and deck were awesome! Rural setting on the mountain side, hiking trails, wildlife and the owners where wonderful! Highly recommend this VRBO for those interested in playing in town and then relaxing with coffee and wine on the mountain side with incredible views! The owners do have two dogs, who are more like gentle and friendly caretakers on the grounds which extends for nearly a mile over the country side. I have never seen dogs act so relaxed like these, pet them or don't pet them, have them on the deck or not. They just seemed glad someone was at the home and were never underfoot or in our way.
My husband and I joined two other couples for a week in the Ashland area. The Madrone house was the perfect setting. It sits on 40 rolling acres of beautiful trees and a running stream. The house is new, clean, and well furnished with everything needed to cook meals and relax in comfort. The owners are on the property if needed, and I enjoyed early morning jogs with their sweet dog Hazel. We spent the week winetasting at nearby wineries and attending plays in Ashland, about 20 minutes away. The owner responded quickly when contacted and met every need. We plan to return next year.
This property and location were absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. The house was beautiful! It is so well cared for and incredibly stocked! It had EVERYTHING we could ever have needed. Games, high chair, every kitchen utensil needed, picnic supplies, movies, and so much more! The view is amazing off the deck and out of all the windows. So much space and beauty around this very private place. The owners were very nice and attentive but gave us lots of space. The decks were all the way around the house with lots of seating which made our meals in the sun wonderful. Overall, the best experience I've ever had with VRBO (or airbnb for that matter) so I would HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone wanting a relaxing place to stay.
Although the property to located out of town a little ways it is in a beautiful home in a amazing setting and the layout was perfect. Our family of 8 stayed and we had plenty of room. The guys really enjoyed having the ping pong table! The house was well equipped with everything you would need. It was perfect for us!
We had such an awesome experience. Beautiful location, clean house. The host is very accommodating. Arranged things for us based on the request. We will go back again next year. Thank you it was a great experience. We enjoyed fireplace, outside deck, Wifi, TV and the beautiful view outside
My family and I stayed at the Madrone House a couple of weeks ago, and we really enjoyed our time there. The home is beautiful, well stocked, and well cared for. We saw turkeys, deer, horses, and birds on our drive up to the property. The owner returned our deposit very fast and everything was great. I highly recommend staying here.
Very friendly owners who quickly answered a couple questions. The house is beautiful, decorated very well, & equipped with every possible thing we needed. I highly recommend this property.
We (four women) stayed for 3 nights for some hiking and plays in Ashland. The house is pretty new and very well cared for! The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, silverware and cooking items. Views of the valley and hillsides are beautiful! Jennice was very responsive and helpful in answering questions about the house. The driveway is long and unpaved, so prepare to drive slowly or stir up a lot of dust. Thanks for a pleasant stay!!
Five of us stayed at the Madrone House at the beginning of September. The three bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable, the shared space had plenty of comfortable seating for leisure and eating. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. The highlight, however, was the setting. Rolling hills with native oak forest, several great walking paths/trails that led to beautiful views. We walked along the irrigation stream that waters the whole Applegate valley, disturbing ducks and picking wild blackberries - ending on a ridge with a view of Emigrant Lake. Drive to Ashland was 10-15 minutes, easy to navigate at night, but clearly in the countryside. We had a great time.
Our family of four (two girls) had a wonderful stay! The house is extremely clean and comfortable! The kitchen is so stocked up and you get everything you can and even can't think of to cook a meal. The location is quite convenient and is less than 10 minutes drive to downtown Ashland and 5 minutes to the Emigrant Lake (very nice playground for kids and with a water park for summer). The owners are very nice. My kids already asked us to go back next time. Jasmine
The house was clean, close enough to downtown Ashland and many other activities, and is set in a valley that is beautiful. I am not a person that typically posts any reviews, but due to my positive experience with the owners and the property I couldn't not write something. My family and I hope to stay at this property sometime in the near future.
We had a wonderful time at the Madrone house. Each of the bedrooms are stunning The kitchen has everything you could ever need. We slept with the windows open and absolutely loved that all we could hear was nature. No cars. No voices Perfect place for our rowing team get away. The owners were nice and made everything easy and flawless. We will be staying here again
We had a great stay and Jennice was a wonderful host. The home is in a peaceful valley with a marvelous view. It is only a year old and feels new. Easy drive into Ashland, about 12 minutes. Note that the host lives nearby and has three dogs. They are friendly but frequently come say hello. She offered to kennel them if it's an issue. We didn't care and enjoyed them but might just ask ahead if you have an issue with it.
The house was well off the beaten road, so quiet and peaceful. The house appears brand new and has everything you could ever need or want. The owners are available if needed and are close by. We did not spend all that much time at the house as it was a short trip with long family reunion days in town. But the house had it all. Thank you!
This home is beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. With amazing views, an expansive deck, and comfy beds, we were so sad to leave. It is so close to emigrant lake and Mt. Ashland ski area but feels so secluded. Wonderful spot!
New beautiful custom home! My family and I stayed here with friends while we boated on Emigrant Lake. We travel a lot together and have stayed at many vacation rentals and this one, by far, was the nicest! Extremely clean, brand new everything, comfortable, easy to be in and the most well stocked house! Everything you could possibly need was provided. Driving up to the house you cannot beat the view and were greeted by a wonderful little group of dogs. All of our children LOVED them. They were the sweetest. We had our boat with us and a space to park it was provided. We immediately opened up all the windows and had a lovely breeze coming though. On the hotter days the AC unit was a great addition. The house is beautifully decorated and well taken care of. All the bedrooms had extremely comfortable beds especially the master. It had a memory foam topper. My husband and I loved it so much we are buying one for our home! The bathrooms had an abundance of fluffy towels and lots of extras, mini shampoos, conditioners, and soaps. The living room has plenty of space to relax in and the kids had lots of room to play with the games provided. Cooking in the kitchen was extremely easy thanks to the well stocked supplies. It had everything you could ever need! We especially enjoyed the extras that were left for the kids. They were a life saver! We all loved the deck, we spent a lot of time BBQing and relaxing on it. DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK THIS HOUSE! Thank you to Jennice and Mike, You made our stay the best it could be. Your house was the perfect place to stay for our first vacation to Emigrant Lake. Thank you for putting so much thought into who was staying at your house and being extremely accommodating. We hope to stay with you again. Sincerely, Dane and Lauren
This is the best kept secret in Ashland! Very clean, and it looks brand new to me. The owners have everything you need. Its like your own house Great job, i will be renting this property again. Regards, AK
We rented this place for the July 4th weekend. We stayed for two nights, place was great. Just few things. We are not dog people so we were scared of dogs but the host were really nice they installed door as soon as they knew about it and also gave us lavender water spray to put water on them if needed. That was very thoughtful. :) Place is filled with variety of antiques and exquisite stuff. Truly lovely place. The view from this place was great. All the appliances are brand new top of the line. Great and comfortable place. Even the bathroom's tap was so unique. Truly wonderful. Few things to keep in mind though, there was no AC as of today, it is expected to arrive on July 5th, though it was not hot in night so we managed with Fan's. Also the place is like a mile inside from the main road, which makes it all the more exciting, so make sure your car has some level of ground clearance and can drive on dirt road. Also there seems to be some smell coming from hot water, so not sure if that needs to be taken care of or was it just new house smell. Nonetheless we had a great time and do plan to visit again :)
Wonderful accommodations and tranquil, beautiful setting; beautiful decor, thoughtful extras and comfortable beds -- what more could you want? Thank you for a superb experience!
We were looking for a comfortable place to stay in Ashland to see my niece graduate from Southern Oregon University and visit with family in the area. Because of the Shakespearean festivals in town it was hard to find something comfortable for our group. The Madrone house was perfect. Large bedrooms, large living room area that flowed naturally to a very large patio area. Lots of seating and a barbeque. The house appears brand new. All new, state of the art kitchen appliances, beautiful granite counter tops and very welcoming décor. A washer and dryer in the garage as well as a ping pong table, which got quite a work out. Jennice and Mike were available to answer all our questions and provided a very nice guide to the area (with maps). The home is situated on a very large property so as to give us that get a way feeling but literally only minutes to Ashland. Thank you again. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
