This finger lakes home has spectacular views of Owasco Lake from every room!! Because the house is situated on a point, there are breathtaking views of the north end, south end and east side of the lake. One of the greatest aspects of this home is the level lake frontage, which is pretty hard to come by in the finger lakes area. There are no stairs to worry about to get to the water or the house, so bring the grandparents and the kids! The spacious deck on the house is literally two or three feet from the water's edge and the 125' of beachfront gives you plenty of privacy. A lovely enclosed porch runs the whole length of the house. There is a nice grassy side yard for games/play and a privacy fence surrounds most of the lawn without blocking the view.
With approximately 2000 square feet, the house has a very comfortable feel to it. The large living room which also runs the length of the house on the lake side has beautiful hardwood floors and a stone fireplace. French doors with sidelights open onto the porch. There is a formal dining room that seats 10 but there is also a dining table in the porch, along with a wicker seating area. The entire house is filled with classy antiques, beautiful quilts and linens, and is very tastefully decorated.
There are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms with tubs/showers. A bathroom is on each floor. The large bedrooms has a queen bed, two other bedrooms each have a double bed and the 4th bedroom has two twin beds. Two 'rollaway' beds (like cots with mattresses that are portable) can fit in any of the bedrooms. The fully stocked kitchen is large (approximately 20'x14') and has just been recently remodeled! It now has hardwood flooring to match the rest of the home, new gorgeous granite countertops with plenty of counter space, new light maple cabinetry, plenty of recessed lighting, and all stainless steel appliances including a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Our gourmet kitchen also has basic appliances such as a toaster, blender, garbage disposal, mixer, and coffeemaker. All kinds of cookware, dishes, utensils, and gadgets are provided. The house is on public water and sewer, has cable TV and a DVD player, and also high speed wireless internet. A first floor laundry is also a plus! Linens are provided, but are not your responsibility to wash for the next tenants.
Central air is key for sleeping on those sultry summer nights. Many folks enjoy sitting on the porch at night with the windows open (have screens) and listening to the relaxing sounds of the water. If you like daytime water activities, it is only about 3 feet deep near the end of the dock and just gradually gets deeper further out. It's a great spot for kids and adults alike. Weeds are scarce in this part of the lake, which results in a much more enjoyable swim! The large deck has comfortable seating with a table and some lounge furniture along with a gas grill. If you don't have a boat, one can be rented at one of the three different nearby marinas and kept at the dock. Two kayaks are kept in the garage for you to use along with life jackets as well. There is also a campfire pit located at the edge of the lawn/beach for roasting marsh mellows with the family!
We had a wonderful Lakehouse vacation! The waterfront Lakehouse (with NO staircases to get to the water!) was a perfect location to enjoy the lake all day long and the campfire evenings by the water were so relaxing! Our only complaint was the condition of the dock and the entry onto the dock from the shore. It would be much better with a ramp to a new dock or a new dock with an entry built right onto the shoreline. Christine and her husband were very quick to help fix the immediate issues and we were grateful for their attention to the matter but a new one should be considered very soon. We would highly recommend this property! Screened in porch and large dining room were also a plus!
Enjoyed a day of sun, reading, rowing and swimming followed by a nearby concert and completed by a fire in the evening with many stars to keep us company.
We traveled to the area for my sons College graduation from Ithaca. The house was a perfect size for our group of 8 although it could use a lot of updating. My kids enjoyed being so close to the lake and the floats and kayaks. The fire pit was also nice. The grill is pretty old and the ignite button does not work. The kitchen is a great size and has been updated. The cots are in pretty bad shape I would not recommend trying to use them. It was nice to have all the linens there already. It was very clean just needs a lot of work.
We had a wonderful time there. We understand this is a very old home, we just think it should be a bit more updated. So glad they did the kitchen. We did enjoy our stay!!
We had a fabulous time! We we able to drop our kayaks right off the property. 2 beautiful sunrises seen from the deck. Plenty of room on the deck to enjoy the sunshine. Only one rainy night kept up from having a campfire. We were able to store our firewood in the garage to keep it dry. Plenty of table room, played cards inside and on the porch.
Great location right on Lake Owasco beautiful views sunrise and sunsets . House was very comfortable for 6 adults, kitchen well stocked. Kayaks available a bit chilly but a great plus in warmer weather. A very old house but kept up nicely .
Perfect for our girls weekend!!!! We will return again. Thank you!!!!
We had a great time and would stay again. I do not recommend for young children because there is a lot of peeling paint on windows, sills, baseboards that kids could easily pick off and eat. The whole house could use some fresh paint. The windows had a lot of spider webs on the outside, so it could use a good cleaning. The kitchen is updated and very well stocked. The deck overlooking the lake was awesome and relaxing. We spent mornings drinking coffee out there and nights just enjoying the lake sounds and quietness. We were 6 adults, had a great time and would stay again.
We enjoyed so much our stay at Christine's lake house, it had everything we needed and location was great. Christine was very quick to respond to any questions. Will come again.
This is a great property to rent for enjoying Owasco Lake and the surrounding area. The property's major appeal is the outdoor space. The home sits right on the lakeshore with lots of deck space, green lawn space, chairs, dock and a fire pit at waters' edge. Although it is an older home, the kitchen is updated, modern, clean, and well stocked with essentials. The dining room seats a large group comfortably (we were 10), and the living room had plenty of room to relax as well. The beds were very comfortable with linens that were clean and soft. There was one issue we had with the home that potential renters need to be aware of - the depth of the stairs on wooden staircase going to the upstairs bedrooms was very narrow, to the point that the only safe way to go down, especially, was to walk sort of sideways holding tightly to the side railings. We felt that this could really be a hazard for an unsteady or elderly person. parents for sure. That being said, the owner was helpful and easy to communicate with and the home was clean and comfortable and in an amazing location for exploring Owasco Lake and the surrounding area.
Cute and cozy old lake house! Beautiful redone kitchen with granite counter tops! Perfect location just minutes from Auburn and a beautiful 20 minute drive to Skaneateles. Loved having coffee on the enclosed porch in the morning with a beautiful view of Owasco Lake! The house across the street sells bundles of fire wood! I wish we would have realized before driving all over town to different gas stations that were all out of wood! If you’re planning on cooking during your stay make sure you have all ingredients! Cupboards are full of kitchen gadgets but bring all spices, oils, etc.... only complaint was that the house could use a good deep cleaning! We noticed a lot of cobwebs and spiders all over the house but I guess that is to be expected of a lake house! Overall a great experience!
Wonderful outdoor space, enjoyed the porches, yard and kayaks.
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home on Owasco Lake. The house was wonderful with plenty of room for 4 adults. Very clean. Scenic view was breathtaking and we loved the indoor porch on chilly nights and the lovely outside deck . It had all the amenities we needed and the location was perfect. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a great family vacation at the cottage. Everything was as described in the listing.
We loved the clear water, the nice kitchen, the porch view of the lake, the yard space, and the deck area. It could use some inside paint repairs, step repair as they creaked terribly, the big black ants in the kitchen and the dock badly needs some repair.
Love the lake house. It was an awesome stay with our family. Would like to. Rent again.
Perfect lakefront property, we had a great week and enjoyed the lake, dock, and kayaks.
We had a wonderful stay at this cute cottage right on the water. Great for little kids to play in the yard as it’s fenced in and shallow walkout for them to swim easily from shore. Bring sandshoes though as it’s a rocky beach. Not a lot of seaweed which was great. Kayaks were great and look brand new. Plenty of new looking life jackets for guests too. Fun nights at the campfire and watching the sunsets, listening to the waves. Ate dinner nightly either on the big outside deck or screened porch. The owner was very kind and attentive to any of our questions. Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time staying in the Finger Lakes. The home was very comfortable and provided all the necessary conveniences. We had great weather except for one rainy day (perfect for the casino!) We enjoyed fishing at Emerson Park, strolling thru Auburn admiring the gorgeous Victorian homes, great food and it's rich history. Everything was within a short distance from our home including wineries. The only negatives we experienced was that you could not use the wood stove or boat, there was only one television and the fire pit needed a little help in resurrecting itself. All in all, a wonderful family reunion!
Great house for our girls golf weekend away. Eight of us has plenty of space and a wonderful time. The house has been tastefully redone. The back porch and deck were a hit at all times of the day. We were close to several golf courses and we stumbled upon a small festival in Auburn as a bonus. A great time was had by all.
This is a great property next to the lake. Clean and enough rooms for a big group. Perfect for a long weekend at the finger lakes
Listing accurate, Christine very responsive to a few questions. Very clean and well organized interior and yard. Had new kayaks out several times. Great enclosed porch and outside deck just few feet from lake. Great view of many firework displays around lake. Plenty of room for six of us. Central AC was nice feature. TV with cable and WiFi was newer than shown on website. Kitchen well equipped. New laundry and kitchen appliances. Dock could use some improvement and cleaning and low pressure in upstairs bathroom sink. Overall a great week!
This is our third time at this property. Beautiful scenic views of the lake, especially in the early morning and evening. The fishing was great and we lucked out on the weather. An older home, but perfectly located for a lakeside vacation with room for a large family.
Location was great. House was large enough to accommodate 7 adults and 2 children comfortably had a great family get away viewof the lake was beautiful Would have liked a little Christmas decorations in the house as it was our family Christmas get away but we played Christmas music and made gingerbread houses to keep us in the holiday spirit Also enjoyed the wineiries and the town of Senica Falls
My family rented this 4BR/2BA home on the lake for a Thanksgiving family get together. We had a beautiful family Thanksgiving dinner at the Springside Inn down the street and enjoyed the kickoff of the Dickens festival in Skeneatles. We even hosted a family dinner at the lake house. The house was well equipped with towels and kitchen ware. The only reason for losing one star is the requirement to BYOB TP, paper towels and kitchen garbage bags. Our thoughts are that these should be included for the price paid. Otherwise, we loved the location on the lake and proximity to Skeneatles.
Very pleased with rental. It is so nice to have all the amenities of home; the kitchen has all you need, and a washer and dryer are a bonus not found in many rentals. The owner is very attentive and follows up with any concerns/questions promptly
everything was very nice
My bff and I had booked our vacation at a property in Lodi, NY on Senaca Lake. Little did anyone know that it would be flooded out and called a disaster area one day before our time was to start. I frantically searched for another place and was lucky enough to stumble on Christine's. The house has a screened porch and a deck as long as the house, which is where we spent all of our time except for sleeping. Was greeted day 1 with a very friendly duck family. The lake is at your doorstop and it has a dock if you have a boat. Knowing our situation with Seneca, we were scrambling to get money together to pay for the new place but Christine was so sympathetic and we eventually paid by credit card. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen has all new everything. (Not that we cooked!) All in all, we had a wonderful time and would love to go back again.
My family and I had a great time. Great kitchen, awesome deck, really enjoyed the AC! One minor thing: the inside handle of the door to the porch kept coming off. It didn’t seem to be the right part of the handle. Great location! Had a really good time!
We were a little early getting there and Christine checked to see if we could get in and let us check in early. Place was very clean upon arrival. The house is what a lake house should be. An older home with lots of character. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and a 16 month old. The fenced in yard makes it very private and safe for children. The house is very close to the road and there is quite a bit of traffic. Otherwise very quiet. The dock could use a little bit of TLC. We used it a lot. We rented a boat for a few days and they were fishing from it. It could definitely use some attention. Otherwise we had a great family vacation and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Loved the house. All the rooms were very nice. Nice sun room and deck. Did not see any instructions on how to use tv and DVD player. Dock was adequate but rickety. Parking was inadequate and dangerous on the busy highway. But all in all a very very nice week. We appreciate the opportunity to stay there.
Great great location. Owners attentive when questioned but never bothered us. House is old but very spacious. Great back porch and yard!!
Our second visit at this home. Needs a little renovation work expected of a home of this age but overall a great experience. The lake was really clear & the fishing was great (especially right off the dock). Quiet & peaceful, awesome views of the lake from the inside & outside porches. Kids & adults had a great time, hope to return in the near future.
House was cute, and in a great location. The spaces were all perfect for our needs: big kitchen, big dining room table, lots of beds. Lake was beautiful, dock was in decent shape, plenty of fish, with the closed porch and deck both great features. Owner responded to all questions practically immediately but otherwise was handsoff while we enjoyed our stay, which we found nice. House was spotless when we arrived with all linens and appliances clean. Hot water heater was an absolute horse, ran a dishwasher before getting four women and two men showered and out the door in under two hours. For those who care: Street is fast and close but the fences are tall and gates extremely child safe. HVAC is highly effective so street noise not an issue for any of us with the windows closed. This is an older home, so don’t expect a shiny new plastic house. It’s nice old wood floors creak a bit, there’s a wobbly chair here and there, you get lots of bedrooms instead of a big modern master bed, but the home is beautiful and welcoming, the kitchen and electronics are all updated. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
this place has a great location. great view of the lake . the house needs some work everything creaks upstairs dining room chairs and beds need replaced. beds were uncomfortable bed toppers were added to make it better but the mattresses are way past their prime most plug in upsairs dont hold a plug in it. glad we only paid half the cost a night during the colder season. at the rate a night during summer i would be very disappointed to pay that much. they need to take down that there is a wood stove since your not allowed to use it! kitchen was nice big enough to have plenty of people in it cooking. over all we enjoyed our time there and would stay again if the price was the same.
Very comfortable house. Beautiful view of the lake. Our weather was cold but house was very cozy. Wish we could visit in the summer.
The kitchen is great and the dining and living rooms were more than adequate for the 7 of us. Bedrooms spacious and comfortable. View of the lake unmatchable since you are right there and can see multiple birds swimming.
We had a great time at this spacious and clean, comfortably property. We look forward to coming back!
What a great weekend! We thoroughly enjoyed the fenced in yard with Great Lake access! The house is exactly what a lake house should be. The kitchen has all the amenities you need and more. The rest of the house maintains all the character and charm of a traditional lake house. We had a great time unplugging and spending quality time with our kids enjoying lake life. Christine was very quick to respond and a pleasure to work with. Thanks again!
The beautiful, new, fully equipped kitchen was well-used by my two daughters. Plenty of room to eat inside. We spent the weekend either on the outside deck, or in the yard. The kids had fun kayaking from the beach, or fishing from the dock. There were two downsides, first, the road was very close, & the traffic noise was very intense (especially at night); two, the bedrooms were a little small for our 10 people (6 adults/4 kids).. All in all, it was a nice place.
It's always hard to find a last minute house on the lake - but this was a true winner! Plenty of space for 3 couples! All the conveniences of home while we were away! Large yard was great for my 3 year old nephew to run around and get rid of some extra energy! Enclosed porch was perfect for cool evenings when you wanted to watch the lake! Enjoyed the mornings on the deck with my cup of coffee. Christine was super easy to work with and was available for any quick questions. This is a true winner and we will be back!!
We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The house is well laid out with all the comforts we could want, especially the modern kitchen. It provided the perfect getaway.
We had travelled from Australia to attend a wedding in Auburn. This home was perfect for location, the lake at the door step and the amenities provided. The kitchen is very well equipped with appliances. We liked the fridge/filtered water and ice maker. It was still a little chilly but the home was central heated. I enjoyed a number of mornings having breakfast in the back porch with the sun shining off the water into the room. Our family, Son, daughter in law, 2 grandkids and us had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in the Finger Lakes region.
we had such a great week. perfect weather. The house was nice with a great updated kitchen. bedrooms nice, back porch and deck were great. We rented a boat for the week and were able to keep it docked at the house and the water is clean for swimming and the seaweed was not bad at all. The house was so close to the water with lots of visiting ducks. We think we saw an Eagle which was very cool and lots of other birds. The owners were very helpful also. Thanks for the great stay!
it was a great stay. Clean, cozy comfortable... The kitchen was the right size and new. Bedrooms were great. the common rooms nice and comfortable. The indoor porch and outside deck was the place to rest. Less than 3 miles to Emerson Park and Auburn. If we ever rent again on Owasco lake this place we wii check out 1st.
My family had an amazing time at this beautiful house on the lake! From the moment we stepped inside everything was so comfortable and cozy. Everything we needed was available to us. The house is beautifully decorated and the views of the lake are breathtaking. Everyone in the family enjoyed it...from our toddlers to their great grandmother! We were lucky enough to make many memories here and can't wait until we can return!
