Serenity House Eleuthera is owned by the same local Bahamians that operate Sea Spray Cottage which has long been a favorite among VRBO/HomeAway travelers earning Premiere Partner status being one of the most frequently booked properties on the entire island. Serenity House is in the same awesome location as Sea Spray Cottage right in town on the ocean with beaches, food stores, bars and restaurants all a short walk away. Of course it has incredible ocean views as well. Immerse yourself among the locals and avoid the touristy stuff for a true Eleutheran experience!
Eleuthera is 110 miles long and about 1 mile wide in most spots so being in the right location is very important. Hatchet Bay is near most of the islands great attractions and beaches. The central location also allows for easy travel both north and south and you are less than 15 miles from the ferry docks to Spanish Wells and Harbor Island that are very popular day trips.
The house has two spacious bedrooms along with large closets. The sleeping arrangements are as follows; The master bedroom has a queen bed and a full size futon sleeper. The guest bedroom has a full size bed. There are two full bathrooms both with showers and tubs, a huge bright open great room containing the living room and dining room and a nice large modern kitchen with a gas range for the chefs out there. The owners have done a lot of work recently and redecorated the entire space which reflects everything about the beach and a fun vibe. The color scheme is yellow, pale green and tan. The kitchen is very well stocked for all your cooking needs with a full fridge, gas range as we said, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, wine glasses, etc. The rest of the house comes with all the normal items such as fresh linens, bath towels, beach towels, etc. There is FREE Wi-Fi and Cable TV and a large flat screen TV in the living room which is wall mounted. There is also a TV in each bedroom. You can see the ocean from just about every room. The best view is from the kitchen where you can do your dishes and see nothing but the emerald sea!
The exterior yard is large with lush landscaping, stone walls, coconut palms and grass throughout. There is a brand new enormous multi-level deck off the back of the house along with nice deck furniture and a table so you can eat outside if you wish. Enjoy the glorious ocean views, sounds of lapping waves and out of this world sunrises with your morning cup of coffee right from the deck.
The location in Hatchet Bay is in close proximity to tons of very popular local attractions like the Glass Window Bridge, Blowing Hole, Glass Window water cave, the Rainbow Bay Cliffs, the Hatchet Bay Caves, Rainbow Beach, Hidden Beach, Smuggler's Beach, Surfer's Beach, Land Hamilton Beach, Twin Sister's Beach, Gaulding Cay Beach, the Queen's Baths and of course those Monday Night Pizza Nights at the famous Rainbow Inn. You can walk to Front Porch Restaurant which is the #3 best rated eatery on the island. You can walk and get frozen smoothies (with or without alcohol) at Twin Brothers Bar. See Danny the island’s friendliest bartender. There is another favorite called Da Spot Bar, which is a local watering hole and the Seaside Club Bar. The snorkeling right in the house location is excellent and the owner's brother rents snorkel gear, SUP's and kayaks at a great price.
Hatchet Bay is a safe town with something for everyone. Solo female travelers have nothing to worry about. We also have a discounted car rental guy for you to use and the best boat captain in the islands where you can swim with the pigs, feed sharks, fish and snorkel. All in all a great value for a beautiful house in a great location.
If you are planning to rent a car and explore the island this is a great spot. That being said if planning to rent a car through the guy they recommend be aware that you need to arrive into Governors Harbor to avoid an extra fee. We stayed for a couple of days and enjoyed sunset/dinner at the cove, queens bath, the gorgeous beaches throughout the island, Surfers beach, and our adventure to lighthouse point beach (this does require a bit of a drive through some Unpaved roads) There is some great snorkeling right off the property and beautiful stars at night. For what we were looking for this was the perfect stay, we weren’t looking for resort style accommodation but a clean place to rest after exploring all day. It is located to easily explore both north and south of the island.
It was great! Clean, Neat, it SMELLED GOOD. Two baths with tubs/shower. What a sweet little cottage nestled on a little rise above a beautiful quiet bay. We enjoyed the sunrise each morning and the beautiful kitchen is so nice and convenient! And the decks are so nice and well furnished! Very quiet. Very cozy. Very comfy! Beds are too!! And 3 TVs!!! We did not watch but - 3 TVs!!! Get groceries just down the Queen's Road toward Governor's Harbor and a little further is Mel's Snack Shop! Delicious lunch!! A little further is Rainbow Bay - nicest beach on the island as far as we found!! Also, The Front Porch (just a short walk from the cottage) has a nice deck overlooking the bay and the food is amazing!
The upfront information on this was spot on. My wife and I needed a week away and this was perfect. The home was setup perfectly and had everything we needed. It was centrally located for day trips and was easy to find. Beautiful views all around. We woke up to beautiful sunrises through the bedroom window and took many walks on nearby beaches. Very close to the ocean and heard waves at night, very calming. Nicole was very helpful on the do’s and dont’s in the area and provided great timely feedback for places to go and eat. Enjoyed a local fish fry in Governor's Harbour Friday night. Some of the beaches we visited were isolated and we were the only visitors. The island was beautiful and everyone was friendly. My wife and I would certainly stay again.
We felt at home in this property. Very nice porches. The ocean waves were wonderful to hear at night. We are very laid back people and this worked perfectly for us. The bed was very comfortable and I was able to cook with ease in the kitchen.
My wife and I stayed at Serenity House Hatchet Bay Eleuthera for five weeks in January and February 2020. It was a wonderful five weeks. The house is located on a small hill overlooking the ocean. The rear deck overlooks the bay and a beautiful 500 metre beach which for the most part is deserted. Though the ocean is no more than 100 metres from the rear deck the water is not safely accessible given the rocks. The beach is just about 200 metres down a small road between the ocean the house. The landscaping around the house is truly beautiful and can be appreciated from the rear or front decks of the house. You can leave the windows open and hear the oceans for a serene experience. We walked every morning either to the Atlantic side of the island (about 2kms), through the village of Hatchet Bay, or along the beach and highway. The house itself is quite large and nicely decorated with a full set of working amenities including AC in living/dining room and both bedrooms which work extremely well when needed. It does not have a dishwasher or laundry facilities. We used the marina in town (about 900 metres) to do our laundry but you could also use Miracles Wash House laundry on the Queens Highway about 2 km up from Hatchet Bay. It also had cable TV which amazingly and had two channels from home (Toronto Canada). There were TVs in the living room and the two bedrooms (which are son and girlfriend used when they joined us for one week). The electricity only failed once for 1.5 hours during our five weeks stay (candles were supplied but you should also bring flashlights). The cable failed two days before we left and was still out when we left. We rented a car from Big Daddy (highly recommended) for the first and last two weeks of our stay. We found that we were able to not have a car for two weeks as there was a grocery store in town about 800 metres from the house and two restaurants: Twin Brothers (about 500 metres) and the Front Porch (about 600 metres) both of which we would recommend. The restaurants do not accept credit cards and the Grocery Store will accept cards but with a 10% charge. We did most of our shopping at the North Eleuthera Shopping Centre (near the North Eleuthera Airport) which accepted cards and had a better selection and bought wine, beer and spirits at Bristol Wine and Spirits in Governors Harbour The house was clean, and the gardens were regularly looked after. The owner Nicole was extremely responsive.
Property was immaculately clean and contained everything needed for a stay. It was refreshing to wake up to the sight and sound of the beach each day.
The house and view are great and once you get the “lay of the land” and find your way around , it’s great. It’s not a place for those looking for glamor or resort style. Quiet place to relax and explore a different way of life. Be prepared that the electricity, intent and even the water , may go out but everything always works out .enjoy
We love this location -- it's beautiful, the people are really friendly, and there's great access to activities, and the house is great
A great place to get away from it all. You must try the Front Porch Restaurant.
Great spot...wonderful cottage, friendly community, close to all sorts of activities...
Nicole's attention to detail allowed us to focus completely on ourselves. She did not forget a thing so that we could not. Now THAT'S a vacation. See you soon!!
Ideal cottage for two couples enjoying a shared living room and kitchen. Nice outdoor decks overlooking scenic beach. New air conditioning throughout that really was nice . I would stay here again if I ever came back.
Serenity House was everything we could ask for. It was clean, well stocked, had beach chairs and a cooler, nicely decorated and nice mid island location. It was perfect for our small group of 3 friends. We drove to the beaches in Governors Harbor and James Cistern. The gorgeous view from the deck at Serenity House was breathtaking! 5 Stars!
Located right next to a beautiful sandy beach. A short walk to some good restaurants and a short drive to many more activities and restaurants. The house was set up exactly as advertised and it was perfect for a relaxing vacation. It had all the amenities we expected and we had no problems at all.
Our family loved our week at the Serenity House. The view and the breezes were awesome. Never used the air conditioning because the breezes were so nice. The beach by the house was one of our favorites on the island. You could see it from the back deck. Our children had plenty of room inside and outside to play. Such a comfortable, clean, tropical feel inside the house. Everything you need was here. (beach towels, beach chairs, coolers) Friendly little town. Beautiful yard and gardens. We will miss it and look forward to coming back next year.
We enjoyed our stay at Serenity. The house is comfortable and quiet.
This is a lovely house with really nice outside seating area facing the ocean. The place has got everything you need and is very clean. The beach in front of the property is ok but not as beautiful as Rainbow beach or surf beach which are very short drive away. The owners are lovely. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
Our time at Serenity House was lovely -- waking to the views over the beach, breakfast on the deck, walking to the grocery shop, easy drives to peaceful beaches. It was perfect for us and our 9-year old, great location, well-equipped, comfortable space. Thanks, Nicole!
We loved the Serenity House and wished we could have stayed so much longer! The master bedroom has three window for great air and ocean sounds while you sleep. We woke to the sunrise in April. The adjacent beach was better than we expected, with lots of shells and privacy. The three new A/C units and many windows keep you comfy. Full size appliances and new amenities make it nice. We appreciated the Beach chairs and towels! The bedding and towels were nice and new. It's a really cute, comfy place, perfect for our family of three. We really enjoyed the location too, with good restaurants close by and in both directions in nearby towns.
Wonderful spot. Clean, child friendly, comfortable beds. Location was great. Kitchen well supplied. Very quick with communication and kindly allowed a late checkout/early check in due to odd flight times. Would recommend.
My boys and I really enjoyed this home. You won't need the AC....just open the windows and enjoy the breeze! We had a rental car..,...which is a MUST on Eleuthera so you can explore. There are so many small winding roads that seem like they are going nowhere but end up at some fantastic beach that you have all to yourself! The home has great cable tv with Netflix...which helped a lot at night with the boys. Its super clean and comfortable. The front bedroom is awesome, with a walkout to great ocean views. I would definately stay here again!
It had such a nice Beachy vibe! Being able to see the beach and also the reefs and hear the waves against the rocks, was an undeniable serene setting. We were able to walk to the beach and fish off the reef by simply crossing the nearly never traveled road. The house had stunning views out almost every one of it's numerous windows. The decorating inside the home brought the outside into the cozy feel of the home. The ceiling fans in all the rooms made it very comfortable; no need for air conditioning! Thus we were able to have multiple windows open all the time. The home was very clean and even the nice dishes were in keeping with the Beach Theme. The beds & bedding were very comfortable as well. The deck out the back was a comfortable place to retreat to at anytime of the day or night. My only suggestion would be to cut down the dead palm tree in the side yard... It would then be absolutely perfect!!! The caretaker for the home was very personable; making sure we were totally satisfied with our stay there. The people in this quaint little town were super friendly as well.
The home was very CLEAN and in a beautiful location. There is either a half built home or torn down home between the deck and the water that is not pictured BUT as you will find this is common in Eleuthera. Some might find it trashy looking, but think of it more of the history of Eleuthera. If you plan to cook while you stay you'll need to buy things like cooking oil and extra spices, but the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. The owner was super duper friendly and even delivered a brand new grill for if we caught fish. They had separate beach towels and bath towels. This home won't disappoint. The trip planner that will be sent to you if you book was very helpful. Both the owner and the manager answered lots of questions and very helpful to first time visitors like us. Thank you!
I was first wowed by Nicoles house because of all the effort that was put into the listing on VRBO. LOTS of clear and detailed photos, and more information about the house than I could hope for! I usually have so many questions for owners but not this time, everything seemed clear.. Although I find there are always surprises once you arrive. Well, we arrived and there was a surprise, it was PERFECT! The home is located across the road from the beach which was perfect for early morning walks and we could view amazing sunrises from the bedroom and kitchen. Worried about the noise from the road? Don't be, we saw a car one morning but didn't even hear it go by. What we DID hear was the sound of the waves lapping the beach from the bedroom if the windows are open and somedays roosters. We found Serenity House perfect for our needs. We were happy to find good quality linens/blankets and kitchen items. It was also VERY clean when we arrived. I would HIGHLY recommend this property and would stay again next time we come to Eleuthera. Thanks again for a perfect stay!
Serenity house is great place to stay, it’s centrally located where you can enjoy sites, scenes and beaches either north or south of it. It’s clean with a nice big deck where you can enjoy looking at the water, watching and hearing the waves roll in while having your morning coffee. You can walk to the local restaurants where the native food is awesome, hang by “da spot” and have a few drinks. I highly recommend it!
