Great little place in the heart of Ashevilles real people

    5/5 Stayed Mar 1, 2015

My husband and I were in Asheville for only two nights. We love the little 'Quirky' guest house. It is in the midst of a 'real people' type of neighborhood. Everyone was very friendly. We had everything we needed and felt very, very comfortable there. We would recommend to family/friends and would stay there ourselves in the future! It is very close to everything and we were able to get around just great. It was a sweet little place!

Great place and a better host!

Very comfortable and cozy place. Jane is great, knows the area well and lots of prominent people too, she is very helpful in getting what ever you need!

    Perfect location

The guest house is perfect for a couple, very cosy, the decore is adorable, kitchen is fully stocked with whatever you may need to cook, if you like to odd that, although with 200 restaurants in Asheville and the best breakfast place around the corner, I don't see why you would. The grocery store is walking distance. It is an older home, but it has been remodeled inside. We had Netflix and free wifi. Jane is a great hostess and was very helpful with her advice.

Awesome place with lots of nice touches!

Jane's guesthouse was perfect for my stay in Asheville! The property is tucked into an eclectic Asheville neighborhood close to several great restaurants, and outfitted with lots of quality touches that made it more than comfortable for me. The bed was wonderful, the walls were decked with original art, and the utensils and equipment in the kitchenette was top quality. I will definitely be staying at Jane's guesthouse again. Wonderful!!

The best little cottage in Asheville!

This quaint cottage is perfect for 2 people and Jane, the owner could not have been more accommodating! We enjoyed spending time at the cottage as much as we enjoyed visiting the town of Asheville! Thanks Jane!

Two day hiking trip to Asheville

Jane was gracious and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is a cozy little two story situated in the back of a home. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. More than sufficient linens were provided, and the kitchen appeared to be stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. We normally choose not to cook when we travel but enjoy having the essentials in a kitchen. The bed was a standard double bed but was very comfortable. The outside temperature was pleasant, and the small patio provided a relaxing environment to have our morning coffee. The location was just a short drive from downtown. Only one small dissatisfaction: we did not understand the working of the television service. Normally this would have been no issue, but Vanderbilt was playing in the finals of the College World Series, and we were unable to view it on TV, but we were able to view the games on our IPad using the WI-FI, We live in Nashville, TN. Thanks for the blueberries Jane. You are a wonderful hostess. We hope to return in a few months.

    Great location for cycling

    5/5 Stayed Apr 1, 2014

We traveled to Asheville from Boston for a week of cycling in the mountains. Jane was a lovely host and was very responsive to our communications prior to arrival and very accommodating during our stay. She offered us everything from information about the area and local businesses to bicycle and hiking routes, to fresh lettuce from her garden. The guest house is perfectly appointed, extremely clean, and very comfortable. There is even a large closet in the entrance for bicycle storage. It is located in a residential neighborhood, less than a mile from restaurants, grocery stores and the unique businesses of West Asheville. We will definitely stay here again.

    Nice stay in Asheville

This review is overdue because it was listed on the incorrect rental. My husband and I stayed here for two nights and found the cottage to be a great place to stay. It was super clean and had many nice touches like roku and netflix as well as a lot of information on the area. The bed was comfy and we had two quiet nights' sleep. Jane was very welcoming. Enjoyed our stay.

    Wonderful experience

Well, I don't know where to begin. From the moment we arrived and Jane greeted us with a friendly smile and a beautiful potted plant for our patio table I felt right at home. The cottage is in a cozy, quiet neighborhood yet you are minutes from shops, restaurants, downtown, river arts, breweries, on and on. Great location, west Asheville is a great spot for all ages. The cottage itself is cozy yet we had plenty of room. It was extremely clean and I like she uses all natural and organic products. Nice artwork abound, cute decor, a great selection of teas, cute dishes, etc. I could go on and on. More affordable than all the overpriced hotels in Asheville. It also beats going back to a hotel and sitting on a bed watching television. We played games and cards at a real table, and my favorite, having coffee on our private patio every morning. Finally, Jane, our lovely hostess. She knows Asheville, gave us excellent suggestions of where to go and what to do. She even came and rescued us from downtown at 11:00pm when we got lost and my gps wasn't working. She was there in 5 minutes and we followed her home! Thank you Jane! She is warm, friendly and made our overall experience wonderful. We will definitely be back to Visit Asheville and Jane's "quirky" cottage! By the way, make sure to have breakfast at Sunny Point Cafe right up the street from the cottage, wonderful place! Also, we loved The Oyster House, best clam chowder ever and they brew there own beer to boot, also right up the street.

    Great guesthouse! Good value

Jane has paid close attention to details to make this a very comfortable & enjoyable place to stay! Fresh eggs, cream, butter and bagels in our fridge on arrival was just the beginning. The kitchen had all we needed to make our meals & even have guests! The bedroom and bath were nicely appointed and clean, with crisp fresh linens....NICE! We may be returning to Ashville soon and definitely would stay here again. Great location too! With so many rentals to pick from, I'm glad we chose this one....Thanks!

The perfect place for 2 to stay in Asheville!

We enjoyed our stay so much! The cottage is nicely decorated, with sitting area, kitchen and bedroom and bath upstairs. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evening. Very convenient to the highway for going into Asheville or exploring the area. Many good hikes available along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Jane was a very gracious host and greeted us with a bowl of fruit. We would highly recommend a stay here!

    Cute and cozy little bungalow

What a fun trip we had to Asheville! Jane was a wonderful hostess and her quirky guest house was perfect for our stay. She made sure we had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed walking to breakfast on Haywood - Sunny Pointe, Biscuit Head, West End Bakery, etc. We also walked to Westville Pub and Oyster House. We rode our bikes to the park and took them to NC Arboretum and rode (which was a gorgeous ride). Downtown was very close (although not close enough to walk). We enjoyed the porch area for lunch and at night. We will definitely be back next year!

Cozy, clean, comfy, convenient, and best of all - JANE!

We didn't know what to expect as we drove through the eclectic streets of West Asheville, but what we found was a haven. The cottage is a converted garage with many thoughtful touches, including gourmet teas, net/tv, Roku, area information, art and books. The living space is comfortable as well as spotless. Be aware that the bed is full in size, not a queen. Also, the bedroom and bath are on the second floor. This was not an issue for us. It is Jane, however, who is the real gem here. She gave us many great suggestions for our stay, along with fresh veggies grown in her garden. She was attentive without being intrusive, and was a wonderful ambassador for all of the Asheville scene. I managed to get sick on vacation and she was over in a flash to help, even offering to drive us to the medical center. You cannot go wrong with this lovely place and hostess. And make sure to have a quiet cup of coffee or tea on the patio overlooking Jane's well-tended garden.

    Great comfort

My wife and I stayed here the weekend following my birthday. It is very comfortable, quiet, peaceful and clean. Jane is actually just as described in other reviews. She is helpful but not intrusive. We spent most of out time in downtown Asheville. This place is logistically close to downtown. You will enjoy the comfort. This is on our "ready for a repeat visit" list.

    Wonderful experience A+++++

Our stay at the quirky guest house was magical. We were greeted with warmth and kindness immediately and we ended up having the best vacation we've ever had. We highly recommend staying here!

    Just what we needed!

Thank you Jane for your lovely hospitality during our stay at your quirky cottage! It was exactly as expected and more. The cottage was perfect for our weekend getaway and ideal for our stay in West Asheville. Despite the rainy weather, we had a blast. The cottage was located close enough for walking distance to the Oyster House, which has become a new favorite. The added bonus of Netflix was especially nice to come back to and relax after dinner. Jane was equally helpful providing us with a local paper for weekend updates and shared tips about local events during our stay. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the cottage versus a hotel. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks for everything Jane!

    Really perfect

The apartment is exactly as show. It’s small but well organized. We had plenty of room to spread out and feel comfortable. Jane left eggs, milk, butter, and a quite a few extras. We felt really welcomed. The little house is in the back of the property, so we had privacy. I left the front door open and read in the front nook, watching the squirrels play. There is a parking space in the front just for guests. It’s on the street, but you’re near the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac. The neighborhood is quiet residential. As you drive out of the area, there is an upscale grocery store and a Family Dollar. There are good restaurants in that area, but most cater to breakfast and lunch. A couple are open for dinner. You are about 8 minutes from downtown Asheville, where there are infinite options. In the other direction, you are about 10 minutes from the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Mountain Parkway. GPS, Google Map and MapQuest all identify the location correctly. I hadn’t booked through this site before, so I wasn’t aware that you don’t receive the exact street address until 7 days before your booking. But everything did fall into place as planned. On the note of privacy, Jane leaves you alone unless you ask for help. There is no check-in or check-out. You find instructions and ideas for outings inside the house. However, when we had trouble figuring out how to connect to Netflix, Jane was there in about 3 minutes to walk us through it. This was so much better than staying in a hotel. Jane directed us to a hike at Mile Marker 417 on Blue Mountain Parkway. It’s about ½ mile of hiking to the waterfalls. Very easy and nice.

    Great place!

My husband and I spent a week here for our anniversary. Jane was so pleasant to work with. This was the perfect place for us! We loved West Asheville as well. I would definitely recommend.

Adorable, comfortable apartment close to all the action.

My husband and I stayed here for the second half of our honeymoon. I was wavering between a hotel and a vacation rental and I'm so glad I chose the latter. The house is the perfect size for two people. It's adorable and comfortable with tons of personal touches. Located in West Asheville, the apartment is about a 15/20 minute walk to nearby shops and restaurants and a quick (less than $10) uber ride to everywhere else. Jane was an awesome and accommodating host. I'd highly recommend staying here.
