We enjoyed our stay. What everyone said about the road going in is correct. Also our GPS took us to the wrong road several times. This was frustrating after a long drive. Apparently someone built a house blocking the road. We finally asked for directions and found it. The houses are set up perfectly for our needs since we have grown children. Everyone had their space. Host was very receptive to questions. We had a difficult time responding at our end but I think it was more of a VRBO issue. Thanks for a great vacation.
The house had a great view of the lake, and I could tell the owner really cared about the place. That being said, it was difficult to enjoy the property because the main house smelled of feces from the septic tank. Honestly I appreciate the view but the location and the neighborhood took away from the experience.
Tabitha is a responsive, excellent communicator. I has no trouble reaching her before or during our stay. The houses were immaculate and well stocked with linens, kitchen ware, paper products, etc. The lake access was easy and convenient for all of is, including our dogs who had the time of their lives. Highly reccommend!
Tabitha is a wonderful host. All of my questions and messages were responded to promptly both before our stay and during our visit. Her home is clean and comfortable. You cannot beat the location as it is LITERALLY on the water. Have your coffee on the dock then take a dip! We stayed with our daughter and her grandmother in the main house and extended family stayed in the guest house. Perfect setup. Neighbors are so friendly, you can’t drive along Honoco Rd. Without waving to everyone else. Don’t hesitate to book, we will be back!
Misrepresentation: upon arrival, the guest house was unlocked, no running water, the minifridge did not work, downstairs apartment smelled of pot. The keys to the unit were laying on the railing on the upper level and the doors were left open. The exterior doors are covered in spider webs. The property has weeds through grassy areas and cement retaining walls. The main house had mouse droppings on the stove, the oven was filthy, the air conditioning was inadequate to cool the house, and the internet made it impossible to work remotely which resulted in two members of the party leaving previous to the end of the week. I've rented many properties in the past but this was the first time we were terribly disappointed and would never recommend this rental to anyone. On our last night a mouse ran across the kitchen floor as we were preparing dinner. I was in constant contact with the owner who had her father troubleshoot the plumbing with my husband for 1/2 vacation day but it did not remedy the issue. Also why should it be expected for the renter to give up vacation time? I took several photos of the issues as it was really unbelievable. On the last night of our stay, a plumber was coming over to address the lack of water at the guest house. I dont know if he did, because we were gone and half the party staying there had already left. Way too little too late. I should not have to clean a kitchen before using it as I was charged a cleaning fee. I'd have to belive the last renter was as well. Someone is being scamed. Worse vacation we ever had as voted on by the group. I should not have to clean a kitchen before using it.
Enjoyed mostly everything about it. A beautiful place with beautiful views. Only down side was the extended 10 mph drive along the lakeshore to reach the cottage. Added 15 min. travel time to each of our trips in our out. But overall, very nice.
Separate quarters worked well for our extended family. A very peaceful setting. Excellent star gazing opportunities. Be prepared for a 30 minute ride at 8-10 mph on a very narrow road. Please watch for pedestrians and pets. We picked up groceries first and made one trip out each day for activities. No yard but we spent time in the water and under the pavilion. Thank you.
We had a wonderful family reunion in this gorgeous, relatively new dual house rental on the east side of Cayuga lake. Quiet neighborhood, little traffic, covered picnic table, right on the water... all as advertised, and Tabitha was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Perhaps the only minor negatives were that we found ourselves needing more cooking and serving bowls and plates (we had a big group several evenings), and our boating friends weren't able to tie up to the dock, which is in need of a little work. But those were super minor issues during what was overall a really spectacular week! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Our Family enjoyed a wonderful get together on Cayuga Lake thanks to Tabitha! The two houses made it ideal for our growing family. Kitchen and bathrooms were up to date and we found everything clean and orderly upon check-in. Access to the water was fairly easy with steps from the dock into the water. The end of the dock was deep enough to jump right off of. Water shoes were a must because of the sharp rocks on the lakebed. There was a kayak there for us to use as well. The neighbors were friendly and quiet. Access to the house was down a long private road which made for at least a 20 minute drive to the nearest stores and vineyards. Tabitha was very hospitable and easy to reach at all times making checkin and checkout a breeze. All in all we had a great stay and highly recommend this lake house to anyone looking for a great getaway on the Finger Lakes. Thanks for everything Tabitha!
My family spent a great week here this summer, plenty of room to spread out and gorgeous views. If you want to just hang out and play board games, swim, make smores and BBQ- this is your place. However, if you are even slightly afraid of spiders, stay away. There are big, beefy spiders EVERYWHERE outside since it's so close to the water. I know it's just a part of living close to the water...so if it doesn't bother you, then its all good because it really is a great place to recconnect with your family.
Very relaxing, tranquil setting with NO road noise! The two houses were ideal for our situation with grandparents, parents and younger children. The views from the upper floor of the guesthouse were great and the sunsets were spectacular from all views. The kitchen was well-equipped for what we needed to cook meals. Beds were comfortable and clean. Internet was available but very slow. It was difficult to send and receive files related to our business because of the very slow speed and streaming would not be an option. If you are looking for a place away from city noise and crowds, this is the place. It is 15-20 minutes to the nearest store, restaurant, etc. However, if you want to be closer to shopping, restaurants and other attractions then you might want to consider a different location.
Pros/Cons...Quiet & peaceful during our stay (Pre-season), Great fishing from the dock, Overall well supplied with little items we did not expect. Interior of home neat and in good condition. Great fossil searching location on the cliffs behind home. Opened door upon arrival to hundreds of large black flies. Chased/hunted down all of them until interior was fly free. Lane to property a pain if your not planning on staying put while there. It is not fully paved as stated in ad. Landscaping/outdoor condition of property seen upon arrival not as shown in pics. However this didn't adversely affect our stay. Discovered cable TV service not working in one of the two buildings due to dish antenna cable being torn or cut between main building and secondary building. Reported this to owner who stated a service call would be placed for repair. No one showed to fix this our entire week there leaving no TV service for those in our party staying in the two bedrooms in that building. Lots of rain during our stay. HughesNet Internet service inadequate/inoperable for our purposes. I should have clarified what type of internet service was provided before hand. I am a IT person requiring remote access to my clients at all times (even during vacation) and was completely unable to connect to any accounts including webmail accounts. Had to use cell phone for everything. Cell Service was OK. Walking trail to winery blocked by private property. Large steel gates at property boundary so path is blocked. Property description/amenities need updated. Overall good trip despite the Cons. A bit pricey rental fee for overall property condition & amenities.
This house is in lake Cayuga which is beautiful. We went for our daughter’s Cornell graduation. We had a comfortable stay. It was nice to be all together and wished we could have stayed longer.
Beautiful lake side view right on the water
If you get the chance to rent this lake house... go for it! Pretty views and OUTSTANDING sunsets. And not to mention great fishing. The house comes with guest house, which worked out well, for those of us who needed to turn in early, while others continued to play games into the early hours. And houses have all basic needs and a lot of room. Over all very peaceful. Reservations went very smooth, they answered all questions quickly. Good people to work with.
The houses worked very well to give us the space we needed for a multi-generation family vacation. We enjoyed the quiet setting and the houses are well equipped for a lovely stay. We enjoyed the local wineries and Long Point State park nearby. The only drawback was Honoco Rd. itself- very rough and dirty, but it keep vehicles very slow, so no worries about traffic.
We really enjoyed our time at this property. Both houses were clean and ready when we arrived. They were adequately stocked with everything you'd need to make home cooked meals, the beds were comfortable, and everything worked great. We spent much of the time at the picnic table under the gazebo, enjoying the weather and the beautiful view. The sunsets were absolutely stunning every night we were there. The sky at night was so clear and dark the star gazing was unbelievable. It really is secluded, and Honoco road was quite the experience. It takes at least 20 minutes to get out to the main road, and the nearest general store was another 20 minutes away. Long Point winery had all the wine for the ladies, and Aurora brewing had all the IPA for the guys. Both places had incredible people working there. Ithaca was about 45 minutes away and has plenty to do for a day out, shopping, eating, hiking the great waterfalls. We ventured up to Auburn one afternoon for lunch, also 45 minutes away. If you want secluded and enjoy a nice crystal clear lake to fish, swim and paddle in, you can't do much better than this!
Fun place and lots of serenity. Safe quiet location. Well equipped with everything we needed. Great road for morning jog. Few cars on it and no carbon monoxide!! Excellent view of the lake. Loved falling asleep with the sound of the lake waves. Joe
We came for Cornell university Graduation .family members flew in from all parts of the country , we had a wonderful time staying at the lake house , barbecuing and kayaking and all spending quality time together, the house had great amenities and the owners were a delight to work with
We had a wonderful stay. The host was great and very responsive. I would highly recommend considering this house for your next visit to King Ferry. Thanks again Tabitha!
Great space both indoors and outside. Enjoyed our time there!
We had the best time on Cayuga Lake at a location that was exactly what we were looking for. Complete privacy, plenty of space for our group to stretch-out, house and guest house were very nice, wonderful lake view from every corner of the property, and we were lucky to have the best weather for swimming and boating. Highly recommend this location.
We had an lovely and unforgettable time...Thanks very much
