This 1907 home has been lovingly remodeled with a gorgeous cherry-wood kitchen, custom granite counters, all new kitchen appliances and amenities. The original fir floors have been restored to add charm and character to this darling home.
The rooms are bright and well decorated with special touches all around. The beds are beautiful and feature quality clean white sheets and custom quilt comforters. The pillows and mattresses are wonderful and will assure a perfect night's sleep.
Every detail has been thought-out throughout the house. In the morning brew your cup of coffee or tea and relax at the dining room table or on the expansive deck with the lovely mountain views. Or walk down half a block to one of the lovely local coffee shops. Stroll to lunch in town - you're a minutes walk away from anywhere in downtown Ashland. In the evening, two of Ashland's finest restaurants are literally steps away as are plenty of casual dining options.
The green show and OSF box office are two short, level blocks away.
Park the cars in your private parking spaces (2) and walk anywhere from this perfectly situated and charming historic home.
Please always remove street shoes in the home. Guests must sign rental agreement after booking.
This quaint charmer was perfect for we four OSF attendees. Clean, cozy, and comfortable, with an unusually well-appointed kitchen and plenty of space to relax - living room, dining table, or outdoor deck. A ten-minute walk to theatre, market, shops, and restaurants. Owners were communicative throughout our visit to ensure we were comfortable, and we had no concerns. Some reviews remark that the bathrooms are small - we four women got all our showering, makeup and hairdrying done with no worries! :) We hope to visit the OSF again and would love to stay here next time.
This place was SO CUTE. The location was perfect for walking downtown to celebrate and the neighborhood was quiet when we were ready to sleep! Would definitely stay again! The queen bed in the room with the twin, was seriously one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on!!
Fun visit with family
We had a great time in this home. The location was just fantastic, right off the main downtown street in Ashland and walking distance to great coffee, food, and shops. It was also a great base for exploring the surroundings, too. Inside, the house was really well appointed, plenty of bedding and towels, plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The shower is a bit small, especially for tall folks, but everything else about the house was spacious and comfortable. Would definitely come back!
As sister's we'd never actually had a trip just for the three of us and this location suited our needs perfectly - we each had our own bedroom (we LOVED that there was not a TV!) - and we read, talked, walked around town, dined in town, dined at home, enjoyed wine on the back patio. It was really lovely in all ways. On Friday night - there was more town noise - a bar near by and some music in the distance - and there were revelers for some time. Nothing totally disturbing, and expected if you want a location close to the heart of Ashland.
Great location, cozy house.
Perfect location. Very safe & friendly neighborhood. We LOVE Ashland. This Home is so Ashland....
We stayed in Ashland two nights in this lovely home that was within walking distance to the town, Lithia park and more. Our communication with our host was excellent.
Our family felt right at home. Host was very helpful.
If you want proximity, stay here.
This was the perfect place for our family with two teens. We enjoyed having the outdoor deck and being able to walk to everything in town. Easy parking, well-stocked kitchen, and air conditioning + fans were all appreciated.
The shower is ridiculously small. This location is great for downtown access.
Thank you for a great stay! This place has a lot of charm. If you are expecting to cook meals at home know that the stove and refrigerator are very small. We had to do numerous grocery runs instead of stocking up once for the weekend. Fortunately, you are within walking distance of Safeway. The deck is lovely for morning coffee and evening dinner and drinks. If you have a dog with you know that the backyard deck is not fenced in BUT there are plenty of trails to take them for long bike rides or walks. Enjoy!
We had a great short stay in Ashland and the house couldn’t have been better suited to our needs. Thank you!!
Always so great. The kitchen and dining room are great hang out places and the deck is wonderful!
The Historic Downtown District home is a perfect place to stay when you want to be right in the heart of all that Ashland has to offer! We loved being able to walk right out to the restaurants and shops!
This place has loads of charm and is an ideal spot for easy access to downtown shops, restaurants and grocery shopping. The kitchen was well stocked and the tiny stove and fridge worked well for us.
Owner very responsive and house had great location and a well equipped kitchen
Amazing location. Old and charming. Very small downstairs master bedroom. Tight small shower downstairs. Small kitchen good for making coffee and frying an egg and making sandwiches - not great for making a big meal. Order take-out from one of the amazing local restaurants. Owner is communicative. While this place technically sleeps 9. I'd say it's a better 4-6 person house given the one shower and the small spaces. Overall, had a wonderful 5 days. It was cozy.
The lack of central heating and any sort of screen/television was a decided plus for me and my family. We played a lot of board games; we appreciated the copy of A Ticket To Ride
Great stay! Lovely house in a perfect location.
Great Location. Easy walk to restaurants, shops & Lithia Park. Nice hikes within a 5 minute drive. Drove up to Crater Lake which was amazing. Lots of dining options in nearby Medford as well.
Walking distance to downtown and the theatre. Lovely home beautifully and thoughtfully furnished with everything we could possibly need. Enjoyed the covered front porch for morning coffee and the back deck for dinner and cocktails. Great restaurant next door if you don't feel like cooking.
This home is full of character and charm. It’s up the hill a short block away from the Main Street shopping, with many good restaurants and Lithia Park not far away.
Couldn't be closer to what's going on in Ashland!
The location is top notch for all Ashland has to offer and the property owners are great to deal with
Great!
Loved the location - perfect for walking to plays and into town. The house itself was clean and had comfortable furnishings, and the host was easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay again if we return with a similarly sized group of people.
We had a great visit to Ashland this year, in no small part thanks to this well-appointed, welcoming, comfortable home steps from downtown and the OSF. Would love to return here every time we are in Ashland.
4 of the 6 of us staying this week had a tough time with the small doorways, tiny Bathrooms, only 1 shower and low ceilings. But even if the small size had been more clear on the website we probably still would have stayed in this quaint cute home. The location is amazing, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Upstairs gets very hot and the air Conditioning is placed in the hallway not getting into the two bedrooms. But there are plenty of fans to keep things circulating. I think the website description could be updated to include the limitations, but overall we enjoyed this home.
Alla and james have done a superlative job of renovating this old home; they’ve used high quality appliances and been generous in their appointments. The home could not be better positioned. Lovely. We’ll be back !
Best spot in town and great restaurants all around or simply grill out on the large patio. Very easy.
This is the second time I've stayed at this house. Great location for sure. Three full bedrooms with lots of beds and sleeping room. Second bathroom is more like a half bath so shared the shower in first bathroom. Worked out fine for us. Host is terrific and responsive! Even bought me a Spokeswoman coffee mug after telling her I was going to ride up Mt. Ashland! Lots in town to do and don't miss Upper Klamath with Noah's Adventure...it's the best!
The property is exactly as described. The owner was very communicative and accommodating. Our group had a minor issue that was addressed immediately. The house is absolutely perfect for those wanting the Ashland experience. A short walk to all 3 theaters and the shops. There are more than enough supplies to self cater, but we prefer to enjoy the bounty of good restaurants nearby. The beds are comfortable and the decor is very restful after a busy day of plays, wineries and shopping., all easily accessible from this centrally located haven. Would highly recommend and hope there is availability for our next trip as we should certainly love to stay here again.
We (four women friends) had a great three-night stay in this nicely updated and charming old Ashland house 3 easy blocks from OSF. The house is clean and well equipped. Great kitchen. Shower in small-but-nice downstairs bath, and claw foot tub in upstairs bathroom. Good wifi signal, we were happy not to have a TV. The owner Alla was responsive, pleasant and helpful. This house is comfortable, cozy and convenient. We will stay here again when we return to Ashland.
My family enjoyed being close to main street and walking distance to the theater. The house was very charming and comfortable for the 5 of us.
Located a couple of blocks from the theaters, Lithia park and the main drag downtown, we couldn't have hoped for better location. The trade-off is it is rather noisy in the mornings with deliveries, trash pick-up, etc. but most of us were early risers. The house is traditional for the era with small rooms and small bathroom - our teenagers barely had any room, but we found a remedy in having them put their stuff away... Kitchen is smallish too, but it was also intimate and fun for our two families to work in together. The stair land on the main floor in the walking area and were quite slippery in socks (no shoe policy) and we had a couple of falls but no injuries. Host was very helpful and quick to respond when we locked ourselves out trying to get to the theater in time (teenagers...) There was only one roll of paper towels supplied for our two families for the week and we were advised by the support contact that this was their practice, but we felt that this was a little cheap, given the price of the rental (We operate two VRBO properties ourselves, and it is definitely not our practice to ration paper supplies). All in all, a charming, small house, a great location, a nice host and a few rough edges.
We had a great time. The house was clean and the beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked. The only complaint was that the house stayed pretty cold even with the heaters (though to be expected with an old house).
Had a great time with my family
We had 6 adults and it was a perfect size for us and the location was amazing with great views and easy walk into town
Alla was quick to respond with our few questions. Good kitchen and comfortable “hang out” space. Recomment Smithfield restaurant down the alley and Mixx on the plaza for coffee and treats! This all worked out fine!
If you read through the reviews the good and bad of this house is pretty much covered. Great location, good kitchen with easy cooking. Bakery and other downtown stores very close. Downside: Bed in downstairs room is really bad. Only one shower. Deck is nice but had overflowing trash barrel, No TV. The house was fairly clean but could really stand a deep cleaning. I don’t think we’d stay here again. Also, the separate VRBO fees are too high.
The home was clean, well-appointed and super conveniently located. Alla took good care of us and we can't wait to come back.
The house was a convenient distance to shopping and the OSF plays. I love old houses although this one had been retrofitted with only one very small shower which had to be shared by 3 people. It's a good thing one person liked to bathe in a tub which was in the upstairs bath. It would have been nice to have a closet to hang some clothes, but the drawer space was plentiful.
Very nice over all. Upstairs bathroom awkward since not full height over tub and only hand wand. Downstairs very small shower. Bed downstairs too soft, needs new mattress. Fabulous location, great deck for watching, stars, nice updated kitchen . No usable closets.( near concussion from upstairs short door closet). Very good AC.
The house is conveniently situated to....everything! It’s designed to get you into a good book, good conversation or good walk, which are all things meant to make life....good. Be aware that you are in the city and don’t overreact to city life. I would not hesitate to come back.
Great location in Ashland, a short walk from theatre and downtown. Charming house, comfortable beds, and efficient cooling system! We would come and stay again.
This house is in an amazing location. It is a very easy walk to OSF. Our daughter is an actor in the OSF company so it was great for her to be able to quickly walk over on her breaks or after the shows and have space to relax. We usually stay in the hotels around the plaza but I would pick this house over those any day. There are several restaurants right nearby. Smithfield's is a meat and whiskey lover's dream. Alchemy has a wonderful bar and a grassy area where you can sit outside. Pie and Vine on Main St has great pasta and pizza. Plus everything on the plaza is close. It was wonderful to sit on the patio in the evening with a glass of wine. Seeing the cupboards alone makes renting this house worth it! They are gorgeous and so well organized. Great pans and well equipped kitchen. The fridge and stove are not quite full size but they worked for us. There is no TV here in case that is an issue for anyone in your group. We were there in July when it was extremely hot and smoky. There is an a/c unit in the living room, downstairs bedroom and upstairs hall. We had issues running all three at once but Alla was extremely responsive. She was great to work with. The house has a lovely view of the valley. This house is a wonderful alternative to hotels!
I stayed here with a group of five women. The house is perfect for us. Easy walk to theaters, restaurants and downtown area. Enough beds for everyone. Comfortable living room for hanging out. Everything we needed. This is the second time we've stayed here and we will return.
Lovely spacious airy feeling yet cozy at the same time.
Exactly as described.
We had a wonderful time on our girls/college tours weekend! Thanks so much for the lovely and comfortable home!
The house is cute, clean, and served our group of 3 couples well. The bathroom upstairs had a really little bath tub, it would not work for a large person at all. We're all on the small side so no problem, most everyone used the shower downstairs anyway. Large table for eating together and for playing board games. Updated kitchen and lovely big deck outside.
Less than two blocks to theaters. New big Safeway within a few blocks. Fully equipped kitchen. Great place for family/friends to gather round the table for eats and games.
The best thing going for this place was location, location, location. We were a party of 3 adult couples, and the accommodations were very cramped, so I'd give it 5 stars for location and 2 1/2 stars for accommodations and 4 1/2 stars for the responsiveness of the owner. The Good: 1. Walking distance to everything. 2. The back deck eating area. We had perfect weather and spent many afternoons on the back deck with a bottle of rosé. 3. The laundry facility, once we figured out how to get the washing machine to operate. 4. The dishes, glasses, and cookware which had everything you need. 5. The air conditioners were on every floor and worked well. 6. The owners quick response about a nonfunctional coffee maker which was replaced and a credit given to our account. The Adequate: 1. The kitchen was small and cramped although functional with small stove/oven, nicely updated dishwasher and refrigerator, and small microwave. Really appreciated the hot water maker for tea. 2. The downstairs bathroom with small standup shower. Plenty of hot water and towels, but cramped. 3. The 2 bedrooms upstairs worked for one couple each, but the other beds would only work for SMALL children due to the slope of the ceiling. 4. The upstairs bathroom was small and only able to accommodate a sit down bath--no standing possible due to ceiling slope. We mostly shared the downstairs shower. The not so good: 1. THE DOWNSTAIRS BEDROOM! The bed was way to soft and worn out. Also ther was no way to get in on the each side of the bed without crawling over one another. This room might be better served with a nice twin bunk bed. 2. The moldy spare toilet paper in the bathroom which we discovered on our last day. 3. The noisy garbage trucks every single morning. Although we overall had a good experience, I doubt we'll book this again since there are other VRBO options which accommodate 3 adult couples much better. As currently configured, while technically sleeping 9. I'd recommend no more than 2 couples share this place unless the downstairs bedroom is somehow improved.
Easy to walk to plays and restaurants, nice deck, lots of deer in area, beautiful nearby park. Comfortable, charming home with character.
The location was so convenient to get to the theatres, Litha Park, and restaurants. There is a little street noise to go with the proximity to downtown, however. The house is well-equipped and the deck is quite pleasant.
Has all the important amenities for our family reunion, especially in the kitchen. Airy with big views from the dining area and deck. A stroll over to the theaters, fine restaurants, and down to Main Street.
This home is in an ideal location. Our family of 7 adults was able to thoroughly relax and walk to our favorite Ashland spots, particularly the theaters, Lithia Park and the shops. The kitchen was well supplied with quality dishes, glassware and cookware. The gas grill and deck area were perfect. We were able to enjoy family meals and games around the table. The furnishings were extremely comfortable and ideal for relaxing. Our only complaint (which doesn't lower our 5 star experience) is that the bathroom situation is not ideal for 7 adults. We managed fine, but some groups might be more inconvenienced by the fact that there is really only one shower for all of us, and it is located in the very small downstairs bathroom. The upstairs bath is charming, yet the claw footed tub with handheld shower is located under a sloped ceiling so is too cramped to be used comfortably by full sized adults. Also, while most beds were extremely comfortable for all, the bed in the downstairs bedroom was too soft/sinking for our comfort. Someone else may have been fine, however. We would definitely stay in this quality, comfortable and charming home again. We were not inconvenienced by the issues described but mention them only in case someone else would need to consider them.
We could walk to everything-park, theatres, stores. Functional space and plenty of beds for our 5 adults and two kids group. The deck is wonderful and we ate all our meals there. Lots of pots, utensils, dishes in kitchen and we really appreciated having some cooking oil and spices available. Also nice to have two parking spaces for our two vehicles.
Loved it. Great patio.
We stayed in this charming house from June 23 to 28, 2017 with our two teenage girls. Everything was as depicted on the website. It was the perfect arrangement, allowing us to independently attend six different plays and navigate lovely Ashland. One trip to Safeway and the farmer's market and we were equipped for the whole trip. Our only use for the car was a trip to Jacksonville to browse antiques and eat ice cream. The temperature exceeded 100 degrees on three days, but the air conditioners kept us comfortable inside. We feel lucky that we could stay here and create lifetime memories with girls who will soon be leaving for college. Thanks! Family from Portland, Oregon
The 3 bedroom was unfortunately too small for 6 adults. The upstairs bathroom with the slanted wall over the tub made it impossible to use. Everyone has to use the small shower downstairs. The downstairs bed mattress was lumpy and we had a difficult time sleeping. I had to remove the lamp table because I could not close the door- instead I exchanged the table for the laundry hamper. No closets to hang clothes. The stairs were difficult to manage with the 4 seniors upstairs. Could not open windows for air- high temperatures that week. No radio or TV. Had to go across the street to watch NBA final game Monday.
Everything about this house is amazing. It's immaculately clean, organized efficiently, and only two blocks from theaters. We couldn't have been more pleased, and we hope to rent this home again and again. Charline and Ernie McDonald, Portland, Oregon
Pros: This house is in an ideal location, the owners were easy to deal with prior to check-in, the kitchen is compact but nice, there is good bedroom space and a nice back deck. The bones of the house are great. Cons: The living room furnishings are in poor condition and are very uncomfortable. Similarly, the bedding and pillows need to be refreshed. The back deck furnishings are not inviting. Finally, the upstairs air conditioner works well, but unfortunately only cools the hallway because of the configuration of bedrooms. Our stay was over a very hot weekend and the upstairs bedrooms were quite hot and stuffy (windows lack screens so cannot be left open).
Loved the location with a straight shot to the theaters and steps from Main Street. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities.
Absolutely perfect location for seeing Oregon Shakespeare Festival plays, just a couple of blocks away. House is cute and cozy, with small bathrooms and funky angles expected from a historic era home. Comfortable and well-equipped--we appreciated in particular the nice wine glasses, plentiful plates/bowls, and quiet dishwasher. The weather wasn't great so we didn't get to use the deck but it will be a real bonus in sunny weather.
We loved the house. It was exactly as pictured. The kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of room for our family, including two little ones, to hang out together. We cooked on the gas grill and sat out on the patio when it was warm enough. We walked into town and into Lithia Park every day. We hope to come back again.
We really enjoyed staying in the home again after not staying there since it has been remodeled. It's a cheerful, light and cozy home and the location can't be beat . The upstairs bath is still awkward and could be helped with a new sink and plumbing that mixes the hot and cold.
We loved staying in this home for a week. It was close to everything in town and so comfortable. Your home is well stocked with everything one would need. The beds were super comfortable, too. Thank you for making our stay so easy!
This is a very convenient location for hitting the OSF venues as well as the town and dinning places. You can walk everywhere. Plenty of room in the house which was clean and well equipped. We didn't get to use the outside deck because it was pretty cool while we were there, but during the summer/fall it should be a great spot to gather.
Location and accommodations were perfect for us.
Great location! Just a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants.
This charming cottage was perfect for our visit to the OSF. We appreciated the proximity to theaters and restaurants. The house was clean and well-renovated. There were plenty of good sized beds and room for us to spread out. We will definitely stay at this location again if it is available.
Charming and updated old house equipped with everything you could want. Nice deck. We comfortably fit 5, as our #6 and 7 couldn't join us. The location is perfect for walking to and from the theaters and downtown- we used the car only once! This would be a very tight fit for more than 7 people. The stairs are a hazard for babies, so use the baby gate.
The house is comfortable and accommodated our group of four nicely. (We could have brought others, but we liked having the space.) The kitchen is very well organized and generously appointed. We ate most of our meals around the dining table, but an alternative would have been the table on the back patio. The Thomas theater is no more than five minutes from the house--an easy walk. The other two theaters are a minute or two farther. Restaurants are very close as are the Main Street Shops. We only used the car to drive to the grocery store. One of my favorite things about the house is that there is no television. The landlord's were quick to address the single, small problem we had and were very apologetic that we had a problem at all. In short, our party of two retired couples was very content there, and we plan to return. I would recommend this house to friends unless they had difficulty negotiating stairs.
A well-renovated older cottage. Clean. It has an attentive, caring owner. By older, I mean charming with hardwood floors and extremely close to town. The lights, A/C, appliances, cabinets, etc. are all modern. We were comfortable in 100 degree weather. Gotta duck to use the upstairs bathroom. The downstairs bed was a bit squishy for my tastes. Overall, a very good experience. I got to spend more time up here some time --- wine country, river rafting, etc!
This was our third year staying at this property. It continues to be a delightful home. The kitchen, living/dining room and patio are welcoming and help creating a warm atmosphere where we can relax and share thoughts and impressions. The grounds are well cared for and, of course, being so close to theaters, restaurants and great stores is a super plus! We are already planning our next year visit.
Overall nice attractive home. Updated kitchen and well equipped though the stove is very small. Bedrooms were very small and downstairs bed was unacceptable. Nice owners and very accommodating.
We loved this place especially the location. Please do not book the last week in March, that is when we will be there!!
Several of us were in Ashland for a reunion of sorts from college days in the '60s. We found this home to be welcoming from the moment we arrived and were charmed by its pale purple exterior with yellow trim, its front porch, and its back deck with a lovely view of the Ashland Hills. The two dedicated off-the-street parking spots make for easy access and parking. The house has many vintage touches but all modern conveniences - a fully-appointed and well-stocked kitchen with new appliances, a generous living room open to the dining area and kitchen and lots of windows and natural light. The two baths were convenient - one upstairs and one down - and generously supplied with towels. The stairwell was wide and all the rooms had comfortable and generous beds. There is also a utility area off the kitchen with large and first-rate washer and dryer. Best of all, this delightful place was an easy walk to everything - downtown Ashland's shopping district, the theater area, Lithia Park, the Tuesday Market, and many of Ashland's best eateries. It was perfect for us, and we look forward to staying again. Thank you to the owners for maintaining this home with such careful attention to details.
Our family stayed at this house for just a short Spring Break trip. The owners were wonderful to work with, including accommodating us when we had to change the week booked at the last minute. The house is clean, cute, and comfortable. Very close walk to everything - you can stay on level ground to go to the Theaters or park. Or go a few steps down the hill and you are ready to hit all the shops. The house itself is exactly as described and as shown in the pictures. Very comfortable for our group of six in three bedrooms. The bathrooms and kitchen are not large, but well maintained. We would stay here again.
We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. Not only did the house have everything we needed—from an electric kettle to a space heater to the world's most enormous washer—Alla was just a text away, ready to help if we encountered any problems. It was truly like staying in the home of friends. Waking up to a beautiful village view every morning was a real treat. It's an old house, with all the charming details one encounters in a story: beautiful hardwood floors, creaky stairs and short doorways, but with completely updated bathrooms, kitchen, and more, it has every convenience. Though it rained a wee bit too much for us to use it, there was even a cute little deck in the back with chairs and a picnic table. It was elegant, yet totally family friendly; beautiful, yet practical; peaceful, yet right in the middle of Ashland's treasures. Each day we walked just steps to Lithia park, amazing restaurants, and cute little shops. (If only we had had time to take in a show!) Just half a block from the Ashland public library, and three blocks from the amazing playground at the park, it couldn't be a better location for families. I can't wait to schedule our next visit!
Had a great time in Ashland. The home was wonderful. Great location.
Half of our family lives in San Francisco and the other half in southern Washington state so Ashland is the perfect halfway rendezvous for us. We booked for Thanksgiving week and had a lovely time. The house is perfectly located one block from Main St. which means we never needed to drive anywhere. Love that. We found the house to be super clean and tidy, lots of light, good beds and nice linens. For a group of six though it is worth mentioning that this is a very small home. The living room especially is tiny. Summertime is probably wonderful as you would be using the back deck. The kitchen has new appliances and is appropriately outfitted (pots, pans, dishes) but was a genuine challange for real cooking, like Thanksgiving. The fridge and oven are apartment size, the tenuously balanced microwave is dorm size, but we made it work. Also, there is no TV. This doesn't matter much to me but the rest of the family missed watching the parade! Also might be a great idea to add a bluetooth speaker for music. Alla was very helpful with our requests esp. over the lock box (there is no key) but even so, every one of us had trouble with it. Overall all a nice, generic little cottage.
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed the town of Ashland. The house was so cute and we enjoyed it very much.
The highlight of this property is that it is so close to the downtown and theaters, so we could pop in and out and walk to everything. The owners have taken great care with good quality appliances and kitchenware. My downstairs bed was uncomfortable, car headlights kept me awake and there was no closet, but I adjusted with flexibility, and the owner promised to evaluate. It is a quirky older house with a fabulous outdoor patio.
This is the second year we stay at this wonderful home. It has everything one could wish for in the kitchen and in the laundry. The house is clean, comfortable and cool with plenty of space. The grounds are well kept and the parking space greatly appreciated. Not that you need to use your car too much, with theaters and everything else within walking distance.... but still nice to have when you travel from another state. Last, but not least, we are also thankful for the kind and prompt communications with the owner. Thank you very, very much!!
This rental was just as described. Great location, comfortable, clean, and had pretty much everything we needed!
We had a lovely stay in this home. It is within easy walking distance from the theaters in Ashland, and very close to several good restaurants. There was champagne and chocolate waiting for us, which was a very nice touch. The kitchen and laundry facilities were excellent, and the outside deck was well-used. There is dedicated parking for 2 vehicles, which is a must in Ashland. It was a great place to stay!
There were 4 of us on a girls weekend trip that stayed in this lovely home. The home is located literally steps from downtown. We parked the car when we arrived and never used it again until we, sadly, left for home. The pictures and description of the home is very accurate. The home is super clean and the furnishings are lovely. The beds were all very comfortable which made for a great nights sleep after a busy day of shopping and dining. We were also able to watch three different plays at the Shakespeare Festival, which is located 2 blocks away. Alla, the property owner was a delight to work with. She was just a text away to answer any questions. I highly recommend staying at this lovely home if you are looking for an Asland vacation.
The home is a lovely remodeled older home with all the most modern conveniences and the feel of staying at grandma's. Just a few minutes walk to town, park your car and walk at your leisure to anything you want to do. We enjoyed plays at the Shakespeare Festival and had some of the best barbecue ever next door at Smithfields. Alla, the land lady is so helpful, just a text away to help and answer any questions. We can't wait to go to Ashland again next year and hope we can stay in the same house!
This was a wonderful introduction to Ashland for five of us who had never been here. The house couldn't have been better located to enjoy both the town and the plays. The owner was super responsive to my text messages to her. Would certainly come back here again.
All the good: the house is well maintained and has plenty of sleeping room for a large family or a group of friends. The common areas - living room, kitchen, deck - are spacious and nice for gatherings. The house is wonderfully located just a few blocks from the theaters and within easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants Ashland has to offer. There are two dedicated parking spaces which is really invaluable. The owners are incredibly nice, easy to get ahold of, and provide tons of great information about the house and the town, as well as treats upon arrival. There are just a couple of minor reasons I didn't give the house five stars. First, for a house that sleeps 9, there is really not enough bathroom space. There is only one small stand-up shower in the downstairs bathroom. The upstairs bathroom just has a bathtub under a very low sloping ceiling. It worked out OK, we just had to plan ahead and take turns. The upstairs bedroom ceilings are low and sloping too, so some of us bumped our heads multiple times. Also, the person who slept in the downstairs bedroom had a horrible experience because the mattress was so saggy. It really needs to be replaced. Overall, though, this is a great option if you are going to see the plays and want to be in walking distance to everything.
This house is beautifully decorated, very well-stocked, and in the ideal location! Less than two blocks from the main drag, this house is in the perfect spot to easily walk to various restaurants, cafes, stores, grocery markets, parks and shows. It is in a very cute neighborhood on a quiet street and is great for bringing families and pets along. The house is extremely clean and perfectly maintained, with up-to-date appliances such as a coffee maker, dishwasher, tea kettle, even a waffle maker! There are three air conditioning units that keep the house nice and cool during the hot days as well as a heater for the winter time. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms offer privacy. The back deck is awesome for drinks and warm nights with friends or family! My favorite part of the house is the upstairs bathroom. Its a quaint little room with very cute chandelier lights that dim for a relaxing soak in the beautiful tub!! Definitely a must for any vacation! Thank you so much for allowing me to stay in your wonderful home, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ashland!
You can't beat the location. Half a block to downtown and about 4 blocks from the theaters. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. nice open floor plan downstairs and convenient parking. Very clean and the beds were comfortable enough. But- advertised as air conditioned but has one wall AC upstairs that does not reach downstairs bedroom or even the upstairs bedrooms very effectively. On a hot Ashland day, watch out! There is one ceiling fan in the living room. Also, there are only overhead lights downstairs which does not create a very pleasant atmosphere. Finally, the owners need to put black out curtains in the upstairs bedrooms- we used towels to block out the light.
We really enjoy Ashland every year but this was the first year we stayed right down-town and it made all the difference! We walked to dinner, drinks, and shopping. Smithfield's was right next door and I loved the duck fat fried potato cake at brunch! The Hargadine House had everything we needed for the meals we didn't go out for, the kitchen is very nice! There are so many windows that the house always felt warm and inviting. Cozy Beds and great furnishings. The cuteness factor was evident as this is a historical home and has those angled ceilings and tucked away closets. Thanks for the Champagne and Chocolates, it made our weekend extra special!! We will book for next year.
We could not have planned a better house to rent for our girls weekend! From the very first inquiry, the owners made sure that all of our needs were met in a timely and seamless manner. once we arrived, this beautifully remodeled charmer had everything we needed, while providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. And if that's not enough, the location was perfect for daily outings to shop, eat, and enjoy cocktails! The girls and I can't wait for our next trip!
Seriously, nice home and very good situation
