The calmest of beaches in Eleuthera are on the Caribbean side of the island. With a southwest exposure, you will experience some of the most incredible sunsets in the world. This unique location offers you over 1,500 feet of beach front to enjoy. It is nestled between two small rocky point peninsulas, creating a very calm and private atmosphere, alluring you to make this your lifetime vacation home, as it has for many others.
This completely furnished home was completely renovated in 2010/2011 and no expense has been spared.
Amenities include AC in all rooms, wifi, satellite TV, DVD player, CD player, video library, music library, washer/dryer, and three sea kayaks (two single and one tandem).
Pau Pau Bay was named many years ago, upon the discovery of the land's abundance in vegetation. Among the many fruits, there are pau pau (papayas), coconuts, and pineapples. Directly in front of the beach are the Pineapple Cays, four islands that offer a great anchorage and protection on windy days. Pau Pau Bay is home for an astonishingly diverse collection of sea creatures living in just 3 to 9 feet of water...
The town of Governors Harbour, less than 10 minutes away, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy Pau Pau Beach Estate, and experience all our island has to offer.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The care take was very nice & friendly. The location of the house was very secluded. The beach is rocky & the water is as well. We had a school of nurse sharks & Man-O-Wars that visited daily. That kept things interesting! We loved that the house had a door to separate the bedrooms from the kitchen & dining areas. Kayaking around the islands was amazing & great snorkeling too! Some upgrades/updates would really make this place sparkle. One of the guest bedrooms, interior with no windows needs a bed upgrade! Also one of the pieces of furniture in the living room had a broken arm. The refrigerator had some broken shelves & missing a piece on the shelf door which made it difficult to organize food & drinks. Most of the lawn furniture was cracked, warn out from the sun & salt air no doubt. Replacing with beach loungers would be a great improvement! There are some bees around the outside table making a home so be careful if you’re allergic! We always have a great time in ELH! Thank you for the rental!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My siblings and I enjoyed a great stay at Pau Pau. The place was VERY clean and Kingsley, the caretaker, was extremely attentive and responsive to our needs. The young man who cleaned up the yard and raked the beach was not only a hard worker, but very friendly. The only things we were missing was a water dispenser to use for the larger ((5 gallon?) jugs, and a cooler to pack a lunch for the beach. Location was awesome as we felt like we had our own private beach. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location if you wAnt privacy and relaxing on a beach. House is well stocked with everything you need. The kayaks were used everyday, the beach was cleaned. Kingsley was awesome and made sure we had wood for our fire. We did not have internet but we didn’t try to get that fixed either so I’m sure if we would have called it would have been.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Visited for a week with our family - three generations, gpa and gma in their 70's, youngest grandchild was 1 yr old and this house was great for everyone. Pau Pau beach is beautiful with lots to do - fishing, kayaking, spear fishing, snorkeling, relaxing. The house was fully furnished and easy for us to cook big meals every day. The best part of the location is it's 5 min from one of the best farm stands on the island - fresh baked breads, local grown produce and other locally prepared foods available daily. Also easy to access other amazing beaches like French Leave (pink sand) beach and Receivers Beach. Couldn't say enough about the kindness and accommodating nature of the care taker Kinglsey who lives near by, and the responsiveness of the rental company leading into the trip. All very helpful and made our trip very easy.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the only trip we have ever made where the grandchildren did not want to go, go, go! The house inside was immaculate and well planned. The pictures do not do any of this place justice! Swim, snorkel and kayak to your hearts delight! The exterior of the house could use a bit of love and care but don't let that keep you away! We never managed to get wifi or television and my husband was disappointed about the tv but no one else missed it! We had from 80 years old down to 11 on this trip and everyone (including the 80 year old husband without tv) is ready to go back!

Nice vacation in Eleuthra, first time there. The island and home is very remote, not a lot of tourists like some of the other islands. The house suited our needs well, enough space for our extended family. The view from the home is very pretty, on it's own private beach- just one other house down the beach around the corner. Good snorkeling and kayaking available right out your door. We had a cook come in everyday for breakfast and dinner which was a highlight for us. We loved Brenda Demeritte and highly recomnmend her if interested in a cook. The only downside was there were lots of bugs at night so it was hard to sit outside after dinner without getting eaten alive. Property management company was very attentive and quick to reply to all questions leading up to the vacation. Overall good experience!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Renting this house was perfect for our family of nine. The house accommodated us well. It’s in a very private area with only one house at the end of the beach and a private beach cove for our self. Nice snorkeling and kayaking right outside the door. Be prepared that it is pretty remote, long unpaved road to get to the home, but beautiful view once you do arrive. Also be prepared that there are a lot of bugs in the evening, hard to sit outside after desk. Property management was very attentive and quick to respond to any of my questions before and during our week there.

Truly enjoyed our 8 nights at PawPaw. Communication before booking prompt and excellent. The house exceeded expectations since it was beautifully furnished and far more than just a beach house. Loved the shelling, snorkeling, sitting in chairs by the water on our private beach, and the kayaks (life vests at least for kids and seat backs on all for the grownups would have helped !). Kingsley (caretaker) was informative, helpful and a delight. Minor drawbacks: very long, bumpy dirt road to get there made it a bit inconvenient; was assured ahead of time that water access was sandy for young kids, but in actuality at most tide levels entry only was rocky; could have used cooler and maybe even beach chairs for excursions to other beaches, but towels were plentiful for that; missing batteries for remotes (but we didn't bother to ask to have them replaced because it wasn't important to us). Should note this isn't the powdery sand beach many others are, but was great for shelling and walking.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautifully furnished home with a stunning view. Located on a great shelling beach, good for snorkeling Kayaks were great to visit offshore cays. Mileong potholed dirt road was the only drawback, but central location on the island a plus..

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were a family of eight with ages ranging from grandparents to grandchildren and we all thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay in April 2019. Pau Pau Villa was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and situated in an idyllic, private and secluded position. The air-con in all the rooms was very welcome (even though the equipment in two of the bedrooms was rather noisy). There are picture perfect views of the beach and sea from the villa so sitting on the terrace taking it all in was so relaxing - it was quite an effort to leave the villa and go exploring. The children especially enjoyed the Kayak's (hopefully the two leaking ones will get mended). Eleuthera is a very unspoilt island with a very safe laid-back feel and the local islanders were all very friendly. We managed to eat (& drink) very well although be prepared the food prices are high and if you can tear yourself away from the villa it's definitely worth hiring a car to explore the island. Would we return? Most definitely and I think that says it all!

Kept coming back to Pau Pau for the privacy and complete calming of the bay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented the property for the first week in July with my wife and I, our daughter and her husband, and our three grand children ages 11 to 14. After a tough year or so we were all looking for a relaxing break and I think the whole crew was overall quite happy with our week escape. Everyone loved the house's beach for swimming, snorkeling, and the kayaks. The kitchen was well equipped and the living space was very comfortable -- I could never tire of the view from the living room window. The grounds are beautiful and it doesn't take much to imagine the place is a private island. The locals were very friendly and our only negative experience was flight delays getting off the island. In hindsight flying through Nassau may have been more reliable. A day trip to Harbour Island was fun and we managed to see a lot of the island with short driving excursions. There are several good restaurants around but most of our meals were cooked at the house. With the limits of being on a small island we needed to be rather creative and flexible with a meal plan. Food is generally expensive and some items difficult to find but understandable given the population and location. For our family get-together we wanted a peaceful relaxing experience and this place certainly delivered. This place is nice -- clean, quiet, and well equipped! Even better than advertised.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fantastic time at Pau Pau Bay Beach Estate! The home was very well equipped & clean. The layout was perfect for our group. The views from the living room & deck are spectacular! The beach & tide pools provided us with hours of entertainment. Roasting marshmallows over the beach campfire was definitely a highlight! The management staff were all very responsive & helpful. Kingsley supplied us with the best tomatoes ever! Thank you to all who helped to ensure that our stay was comfortable!
We had a great time at this rental. The property was beautiful, the beach was AMAZING!!! The house had everything we needed and was very clean and well kept up. Everything about the house and property as whole was just perfect. If you want to relax and truly get away from busy life, this is your place. Seamless interactions with the property managers and home owners. The caretaker is a great treasure to the property! He even brought us fresh grown tomatoes!
Love that this house is so secluded with your own private beach. We watched stunning sunsets every night!
My family and I had a wonderful vacation at Pau Pau estate for thanksgiving. The property was just as described only better. The amenities provided were perfect for our group. The water and beach were really nice and it felt like we had our own private beach, which we really did. Kingsley Sands the caretaker was really nice and I enjoyed talking to him and learning about Eleuthera from a native perspective. The property was clean and the bedrooms were comfortable. My kids really enjoyed the hammock and sitting by the fire pit. We ventured out to Tippy's a couple of times for an excellent dinner and I recommend this place highly. It was always a good meal. I never had conch before and was a little unsure about it but we ended up having it with most meals and I really liked it. We also stopped at a few other beach restaurants and never had a bad meal. A must see is the glass window bridge, it is hard to describe to someone the contrast from the atlantic ocean to the Caribbean ocean, you just have to see it. I rented a mini van and its wasn't that hard to adjust to driving on the left side, it actually was fun and allowed us to see most of the island. All and all it was a most enjoyable trip and the estate is really nice and secluded. My only regret is the noseeums, we were fine until the last night and didn't take the proper precautions and ended up with quite a few bites. We would definitely recommend Pau Pau beach estate to anyone. Kim and Jason thank you as well as eleutheravacation rentals for all the information and advice.
We couldn't love Pau Pau Bay more! The home and beach provide beautiful seclusion while nearby towns offer convenient groceries and restaurants. Pau Pau Bay Beach Estate is spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is perfect for a large family, too.
Wonderful week with wonderful friends staying in paradises. The house was all that is described and so much more. Thanks Kingsley! Thanks Mona!
Pau Pau Bay was the perfect escape my husband and I needed from our busy lives. And the warmth was welcomed from Maine! The house was perfect with some of the best snorkeling just a shot paddle or swim away to the cay. We're had everything we needed at the house and Kingsly was a wealth of information. He also had a worker that made sure we already had plenty of firewood for bonfires. Mate and Jenny's had some delicious pizza. We also really enjoyed 1648 for lunch. Tippy's also had great food. The Friday fish fry is definitely an experience. Lighthouse beach is as amazing as everyone says it is and is worth the drive. We also spent a lot of time driving the island and finding less known beaches, a four wheel drive is highly recommended! Overall this was an amazing house on a great island. We will hopefully be back soon!
My husband and my two teenage boys stayed at Pau Pau Beach Estate in January. Kingsley, the caretaker, greeted us at the house to make sure we got settled. What a kind sole. The house was visibly updated and furnished with beautiful furniture and bedrooms. Everything was really clean and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. You do need to bring your own shampoo and bath soap (FYI). The house sits on a very private beach. Half the fun is the mile drive through the jungle to get to it. We loved having the 1500++ foot beach to ourselves. The beach was cleaned regularly by a very friendly guy. The house came with three kayaks which we used a lot. (NOTE One had a hole in it so you will want to check if it still out of commission) There are two firepits which we couldn't use because the wood was too wet but it would have been really fun. Important! Bring bug spray. There are itchy little bugs that come out all over the island at dusk. Pau Pau also has a generator that kicked in twice due to a storm on two different occasions. This is something you need to make sure your home has before renting it. Here are some fun things you should be sure to check out. The Fish Fry at Governors Harbor is a MUST DO. The fish is a whole fish in case that scares you. They also serve chicken and pork. A DJ plays music and there is plenty of limbo and dancing in the streets. We ate at Tippy's. It is the perfect beach restaurant. I highly recommend it. We spent a day at Harbor Beach. It is work the drive. It has a more traditional beach resort feel. The body surfing was great. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes. If all you are doing is going to the beach, you don't need to rent a golf cart. The beach is right over the hill from the ferry. Surfers Beach was great. We rented boards from Tom. I recommend you get his or his wife Liz's phone number. We called each morning to see how the surf conditions were before we drove the 35 minutes to the beach. My boys said it was some of the best waves they ever have surfed on. Club Med beach was also great for body surfing. We bought the best homemade bread at a little vegetable stand between Surfers Beach and Pau Pau. Get some! The location of Pau Pau Beach Estate was in the middle of everything, there was never an overwhelming drive. Matt Simon and his rental team were really easy to work with. He showed me several homes to choose from before we landed on Pau Pau Beach Estate.
This is a very comfortable house- it had everything we needed for our extended family and then some! Central A/C, backup generator, blender! The 3 kayaks were in good order and were perfect for paddling on the calm Caribbean side waters. We were able to paddle along the coast and out to the nearby cays to fish and snorkel. We caught our fish for dinner every night! Then we cooked with the patio grill or smoked the fish on the outdoor fire pit on the beach. The water is warm and calm enough on this beach for the 6 year old in our party to safely enjoy snorkeling too. Indoor and outdoor speakers were appreciated. We usually like to explore other beaches during our stay- but we never felt like leaving this place! Great views from inside too!
We had a party of 10 (8 adults and 2 teens) and this house was perfect for us. Working with both Matt Simon and the owners of the house provided excellent customer service! They answered all my questions and any issue at the house was promptly attended to by Kingsly the caretaker. The house has everything you need....beach towels, kayaks, spacious rooms, fully stocked kitchen, great indoor/outdoor stereo system, wifi that works anywhere in the house and on the beach. This house is tucked away and has complete privacy...the view in unmatched. We will definitely come back to this rental. We used Brenda & Patrick Demeritte as cooks for the week....awesome couple that can help you with anything you need on vacation at a reasonable price. Missing this little slice of paradise already!
We found Pau Pau Bay Estate to be simply Beautiful and serene! This was our first time in Eleuthera. We booked Pau Pau to celebrate a late Christmas in a location away from the cold snowy winters of the Mid-west and the east coast. Our first sighting and impression of the Estate was more than we expected. The estate is secluded on a private beach of crystal clear water. The house was immaculate and spacious! There was more than enough room for the 8 of us. We will definitely return to stay here again. The next time, however, we will order our groceries and have them delivered. We can always run out for additional items if needed. The Harbor Town grocery store was a bit pricey. The grocery store that offers to deliver, is also the best priced and offers a larger selection. They also have fresh meats. When flying in to stay here fly into Governors Airport if possible - it is the closest. We all had the best time here, and really recommend it to everyone! The Caretakers are extremely nice and helpful as well! Thank you Pau Pau Bay for one of the most beautiful, relaxing and memorable vacations, - The Gurdaks and The Walshes
We are a family of 10 (grandparents, parents and kids) who enjoyed our week in the sun at the Pau Pau Bay Beach Estate. If you are looking for a house with lots of amenities (practically private beach), kayaks, an ice machine for those rum-runners, beautiful grounds, a gas grill, and two beautiful decks (one with an outdoor shower!), then this is the house for you. There are beach chairs, stunning kayaking and snorkeling, and the house has everything you need for a week- or more- of enjoyment. Our kids were in and out of the house all the time- we always felt safe (bring water shoes- nature is all over!) letting them roam the yard and beach. Any questions are quickly answered by the manager/owners, and having Mr. Kingsley as caretaker was a bonus- he answered all of our on-island questions. Eleuthra is a safe place to bring kids and there are way more things to do than we were able to in just a week. Bring lots of bug-repellant (no-seeums are part of beach life) and sunscreen. We followed lots of recommendations given by the relator, and Mr. Kingsley (he found us a carry out pizza place for dinner- great for kids) as they are quite helpful. Plenty of room in the house to enjoy a great vacation. Check out the Edwin's Turtle Preserve, the organic farm (just down the main road to the right), and order BBQ dinner carry out from J's Jerk Pit (literally a house on the left side of the road, just after you leave the driveway). Try Eleuthra- have adventures in the Queen's baths and snorkel with Fishbone Tours. Staying in this house allows for a week of just basking on the beach AND hiking, snorkeling, and enjoying the restaurants (Tippy;s and the Buccaneer Club are a must) and lovely people of Eleuthra. The house has all the amenities you need- book now- you won't be disappointed.
Our Christmas stay at Pau Pau Bay Beach Estates was a wonderful reprieve from the Canadian winter. The house itself was beautiful and just as pictured. The road into the house is rough and narrow and was a little tricky to find in the dark but Kingsley was there to meet us. The location on the beach was great - very private. We enjoyed the fires on the beach. The sand fleas were very fond of some of us so visitors need to have bug spray and cover up in morning and evening. We did an Adventure tour with Captain Bubba at Fishbone Tours that was excellent. We had one disappointment and that was our Christmas Eve meal. We had booked Kaynell Scavella as recommended by one guest and when she arrived over 2 hours late with cold food that we didn't think warranted $40 per person ( macaroni and cheese and cupcakes) it really ruined our Christmas Eve. Other than that it was a lovely stay one your beautiful island.
We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place Everything was right at the house that you could need the house itself was so sufficient with great views the info I received about the house was dead on the care taker Kingsley Sands was so nice and helpful there was plenty to do fishing snorkeling and the fire pit was great for the evenings we ate dinner at the Rainbow Inn which was great did some sight seeing at the plant reserve and Harbor Island and rock sound the guys caught so much fish we had great dinners right at the house so good with fresh produce market right down the street this place is perfect for families as well as a group of friends I would definitely recommend this place you won't be disappointed
We rented Pau Pau Beach Estate for a week that we'll remember for the rest of our lives. 3 families rented - 6 adults and 5 children. The house accommodated all of us very comfortably and the setting was magnificent. From the information we were given in advance by the owners, we were well prepared for everything we needed. And Kingsley, the caretaker was always available to answer questions or fix anything very quickly. He personified what we experienced by all of the locals we met - wonderful hospitality and general kindness and love of life. After exploring the island for a week, we can truly say that this home is perfectly located - right in the middle so it is easy to get to both ends as well as a quick drive to the airport and to the great town of Governors Harbour. If you are planning to go to Eleuthera, this is the place you want to stay. We definitely plan on coming back sometime down the road. One thing to keep in mind, at least in the summer months - the no-see-ums are out in full force at night so bring bug spray and long pants and long-sleeved shirts so you can enjoy the evenings outside without getting bitten up. Thanks for making our week such a memorable one! Mark
Pau Pau Bay House was absolutely perfect for our family of seven. The house was immaculate, very well-decorated, and extremely well-equipped. The private beach was unbelievable and we snorkeled daily around our own private islands. The caretaker, Kingsley, was very helpful. Matthew Simon was invaluable throughout the planning of our vacation and while we were in the Bahamas. We couldn't have stayed in a nicer home!
