I do not allow people people younger than 21.
I was pleasantly surprised with the supplies ready for to use, example firewood , games and laundry detergent. The house was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.
Let me start by saying this place could be a nice place to stay and the owners seem nice but do not live close and has no one close to solve problems. Way to much clutter. closets where full, cabinets where full, refrigerator half full, no room for our stuff. The real kicker was when my 7 year old grandson found a loaded hand gun with a bullet in the chamber in the master bedroom.
This was the perfect place for our family.
Wonderful place very cozy quiet and beautiful area. We loved the top deck made it easy for us to sit and enjoy the breeze. Looking forward to visiting again.
We enjoyed the cabin, the listing was accurate. We had questions about the heater when we got in on Friday and the owner responded quickly.
I've stayed here multiple times now. Without fail, it's always a wonderful, relaxing time. Mr Braswell has really made this place feel like a second home for me. I've visited friends at a few other vacation rentals in this area, and they all feel like that, a vacation rental. This place feels like a home. I can't wait to return again next year!
Very clean and neat. comfortable beds and great water pressure. loved the scenery. very cozy and relaxing
We needed good wifi for our mountain get-away due to remote classes, and wanted a hot tub and fire pit. This place had it all plus a paved driveway at economical rates. Three full bathrooms were very convenient for our party of six. The location is a secluded community around a large shared open greenspace and a pond. The gravel roads doubled as hiking trails, and we took short walks each day.
We had a wonderful time. The property was very clean and had anything you needed or might have forgot! Location was great! Everting was within 30mins to 2hours away that we wanted to do. The owners go beyond with giving you information and suggestions of things to do. We would definitely come again.
My two girl friends and I have 6 girls and 2 boys among us. We took all the kids on the Polar Express. It was a nice, fun getaway. The house even had a Christmas tree and decorations up! No snow this trip but now we have an excuse to take the kids snow tubing.
Overall the house and location is good. Very well stocked with essentials. We enjoyed walking the country roads. The only issue was dumping the trash at the local dumpsters on Sunday when we left, they were closed that morning- opens late Sunday afternoon. Thankfully a local business took our two bags of trash.
Good Central Location to several other Towns
Property was clean, easily accessible, area was quite, attractions in the area were easily accessible, would recommend to others ,
Perfect house for our family get away!
This was my third time staying at this property. As always, it was wonderful. Great location, far enough removed from the highway you don't hear any noise from it, and only a short drive to Bryson City. The beds are extremely comfortable. I look forward to returning again.
Second visit. Love the location for us to all that we want to do. Private and clean.
This rental had everything you need, they thought of everything and it was very clean and comfortable. We were very surprised to wake up the first morning and see cockroaches running all over the kitchen counters and main floor bathroom. With the home being so clean and tidy it was an unwanted surprise. The A/C main floor unit I had to wipe down with sanitizer wipes and spray due to black mold on the vents. Overall it was a nice place to stay and would be a total joy if the concerns mentioned are addressed.
The house is full of stuff. Small rugs on top of each other for some reason. Cabinets under bathroom sinks filled with stuff. So there is no room for your things. Dressers are the same. The refrigerator and pantry had previous renters food. With Covid, I am surprised anyone would want to use previously opened food from someone they don’t know. The pot holders were dirty and counters grungy. The creek is not as pictured right next to the house. If it was there it was very over grown so it is not visible. We had 2 power outages in 4 days. One was very short but one was 6 hours beginning at 5:30 pm. The beds were comfortable. The bedrooms were a good size to accommodate everyone. Was pretty close to activities. You have to dump your own trash but we could not find the dumpsters so I’m sure we will be charged. I have rented cabins before and only one other time did the refrigerator have open food.
We enjoyed our stay at On Golden Pond. It was the perfect size for our family. We were able to cook our meals which was great during Covid. It gave us a safe place to return to each night. Loved the hot tub and fire pit. Thank you for a memorable vacation.
Plenty of room, great location, perfect for what we needed. Enjoyed it and would recommend property to others. Owners very nice and pleasant.
Great place to stay with plenty to do in the area.
Nice house tucked in the woods with chirping birds and solitude, close to Bryson City.
We recently stayed and loved the cabin. The beds were very comfy and the AC window units cooled the cabin very nicely. We had everything that we could possibly need including a waffle maker, blender, and fire roasting sticks. The driveway is very steep and somewhat difficult to turn around in at the top. It just takes time to turn around so we did this when we returned from the daily activities so our car would be ready for the next day facing forward the next day. We drove to the spring-fed lake as we did not want to cross the busy road but it can be walked to if you want to hike a bit. We loved the fire pit and used the charcoal outdoor grill on the porch quite a bit. We had every channel on the television and had several board games to use. I loved the fact that it had a large capacity dryer and washer. We will stay again, definitely do the tubing north of Bryson City as it was the best part of our trip -- relaxing and you see waterfalls, get there early in the day- tubes 7 $ for rent!!! Horseback Riding in the Great Smokey park to the falls - 89$ is a wonderful activity as well !
I thought the pond and creek were on the property. Instead it was up the street and never even seen it.
This home had everything we needed! Besides being extremely clean and well cared for, besides going to the grocery store, we didn't leave out once we were there. We have four grandchildren ranging in age from 18 - 10 and they each enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing! Thank you to the Braswells for sharing such a wonderful home with so much space for us all. This was our second stay and we will be back! You couldn't ask for more! Thank you again. Daisy M Lee and family!
Everything was great except there was a bad smell coming from the hot tub area.
This place is amazing. You just can’t go wrong here. It’s really a beautiful place to go and relax and enjoy the blessing that have been stowed upon you. The home has absolutely everything you need and don’t need. We provided our own but just in case you forget something no worries they have it there. The 3 levels with a bathroom on each provides you with so much space to spread out and really enjoy some cozy book reading time. This place is comfortable and a real home away from home. Oh yeah let’s not forget about how kind, courteous and prompted Mr. and Mrs. Braswells are about handling anything that isn’t pleasing to you! My sisters and I have traveled to many places On Golden Pond is our absolute # one. So yes l recommend this home to anyone that is the need for a real home away from home experience!! CDG - Thomasville NC.
We enjoyed our stay here, plenty of room for our large family at a good price.
Reservations and check in were quite easy. The owners were very nice and helpful. The cabin was very comfortable and accommodating.
This house was just as advertised. Owners were prompt in sending information to me after booking. The property matched the description and met our needs for our stay. The property is a little dated but well kept. We would stay here again.
we enjoyed our stay, beds we comfortable, kitchen nicely equiped. the spa and fire pite were a bonas as well.
They advertised a garage but the garage door was sealed shut. Very disappointing when you have 3 brand new motorcycles. Also was under the impression it was paved all the way. It's not. Only the last little bit is paved. Nobody fell over but it was pretty exciting going in and out. You can't take a trailer to the cabin either. We had to park along the road. Feel I was misled.
Thing went smoothly. We enjoyed the stay.
Owner's are super nice and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. We hope to come back again.
We were not planning to have to clean up before unloading our gear. Once this was done it was an enjoyable time with family.
Very nice cabin with plenty of amenities. Enjoyed the outdoor grill, porch swing, hot tub, fire pit, and some of the books provided. Fit my fiancé, parents, grandparents, brother and me very comfortably. Cabin had some ants and a small leak, but contacted the owner about it who got back with us in a very timely manner. We recommend this cabin and would definitely stay here in the future. Made for a very enjoyable vacation.
Very nice chalet! Great to set out on the huge deck and listen to the tree frogs sing their song in the evenings. Larry has them trained to croak in unison! The granddaughters enjoyed making s'mores around the campfire and tubing. Great area to take a hike or fish or swim or close enough to drive to town for a Smokey Mountain adventure.
Very nice. It was great having a bathroom on each floor. Close to lots of things to do. We did so many things in just one week. Just a little disappointed, online it looked like the lake was part of the property. We didn't feel comfortable using the lake. Wi-Fi had very poor signal for us. However, that was not a major issue at all.
Our family of 7 had a fantastic time On Golden Pond. Our children especially loved the books in every room, tv in the teen room i.e. bedroom with two queen beds, the pond and the hot tub. It is a beautiful location and the area has a lot to offer.
My entire family felt in love with the property. The owner was very helpful. There is everything you need in the house and more.
This was my 2nd stay at this property. It's a perfect setup for either families or small groups of friends, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, each on a different floor. The location is excellent, only a short drive off of highway 28 from either Fontana Village or Bryson City, yet it is incredibly quiet in the area, with only the sounds of wildlife and the very occasional (maybe 3 times an hour, tops) car slowly driving down the road.
Great time as before
This chalet was well equipped with bathroom needs (towels and toilet paper, especially) and kitchen needs. The kitchen does need a deep cleaning and some desperate organization, but all the tools and pans we needed were there. We left the home in better shape than what we found it, especially in regards to the kitchen. We wiped down the stove top/drip pans and the wall beside the oven, and organized the cabinet above the microwave. The bathrooms were nice and clean when we arrived, so we appreciated that. The king bed in the loft rolls to the middle so be aware of that. You will not get a phone signal, but the wi-fi worked fine for the younger people that came with us. You can use the land line for making phone calls. The dining room table was great! It sat 6 and was nice and big to eat at and play games at. We brought our own games with us, but there are several options in the home for use. The home also had lots of books around for leisure reading; mostly faith-based ones. Although there was nothing grossly wrong with this chalet rental, our family would most likely not return there.
The house worked well for us. While enjoying the fire pit, we heard owls and coyotoes.
This cozy chalet was more than what we expected. First time we visit the smoky mountains. From the moment we drove on route 19 and route 28 we amazed with the scenery. I knew we were staying in the right place. We were so close to Nanthala Forest, Cherokee reservation, Maggie Vally(ski resort), Bryson city and about 2 hours away from Gatlinburg. I love that the chalet is located in a very nice community. You’re home had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were comfortable, the laundry room was a plus, and adding a Christmas tree during our stay was awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your home. We hope to come back in the summer. The Andino- Navarro family.
Plenty or room for our family, great price and nice location to everything.
Very nice chalet, fully stocked kitchen, very quiet, close to things to do. Definitely plan on returning.
Our family really enjoyed our stay On Golden Pond Chalet. The beds were so comfortable and everything was very clean. We enjoyed the porch swing and the deck off from the dining room. This is an excellent place to stay for a mountain get away . Hope to return again soon. Barry and Kaye Everhart
We absolutely loved this place my husband and I were here for our honeymoon you can't ask for a nicer place to stay with everything from hot tub to a private lake with lots of big fish to catch and a fire pit for those nights you wanna roast some marshmallows and hotdogs WiFi and cable with Netflix so you can relax and enjoy some movies a great size kitchen to make a little dinner and stay in on those cozy nights we highly recommend this to any family that loves staying at a home away from home
We had a great time. Very nice and furnished place. The beds were very comfortable, the hot tub was good, and the fire pit was relaxing too. Beautifully decorated for fall.
The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed to feel as close to home as possible. The area was very quite and peaceful. The children said this was the best house we have ever rented. Thanks for making the birthday getaway a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. It is big and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. If we are traveling to the area again, I would definitely enjoy staying again.
We really enjoyed our stay. From acting like children and sliding down hill to white water rafting, hot tubing and sitting by the fire pit. My mother enjoyed the peace and quiet and visiting Cherokee. The beds were comfortable and the decks were a plus! Will definitely recommend your place to others! Thanks again to Mr Braswell for checking in on us and being so kind during hurricane Florence!
Love the location and ease of access. Home was neat and well supplied with all the amenities. Only thing we needed was food. Really enjoyed the hot tub. Quiet and peaceful. Entrance at two levels, which was great since we were sharing with our daughter and her husband, and my wife and I both have trouble with stairs. Lake and park are lovely, although we didn't get to go fishing. Owners were friendly and really great people. All around great stay. Hope this home is available when we start planning our next stay.
Spending time with my family
A wonderful place to stay, very relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.
Would definitely rent this again. It's in a nice tucked away community, so its quiet. Close to Bryson City, which is a nice mountain town, and the National Park. We found the house very nice, as described. And the owners are quick to answer any questions that come up The cabin had all of the comforts of home. The whole experience was wonderful! Thank you again to the wonderful owners!
Great owners that correspond quickly to your questions! What a lovely, peaceful, beautifully decorated place! Very comfortable furniture and beds. Place has everything and more than you need. Just pack some clothes, food, and don’t forget your bathing suit to relax in the hot tub! Enjoyed the trails and waterfalls in the Nantahala National Park, went water rafting, and gem mining! Also enjoyed walking and shopping down the streets of many different little towns throughout the mountains! We will be back again in the future! Thank you for having us!
The cabin is far enough off the main highway that it's totally silent except for the few cars going to and from their own cabins. Beds are incredibly comfortable. Wonderful not having to share a bathroom. I look forward to staying here again when I come back to the area!
We were in town for a wedding, and this house was perfect for us! It was comfortable and cozy, we would definitely go back!
Great place to stay, plenty of room for the family, loved sitting on the top porch in the mornings listening to nothing except the birds chirping. Sitting around the fire pit outside at night was awesome and then a soak in the hot tub.......wonderful! Would stay there again!
Wonderful rental that our family enjoyed. We did a little bit of nothing and we’re glad for the getaway! Hubby tried the pond for a little fishing but Beijing half frozen- no success. The Cabin had everything you would need and more! We went to town twice to get some Fresh air but didn’t have to even do that! Thanks for opening up your home as a rental. I bet it’s gorgeous in the Springtime!!
We had an amazing time here! The property owners have gone above and beyond to make their guests feel at home. We spent Christmas here and it was a wonderful surprise to walk into a fully decorated home. We would recommend this place to anyone.
Very nice clean place to stay. Enjoyed our time there
the cabin was beautiful only got to enjoy it for one night due to a medical emergency hope to return at another time thank you for sharing your home with us
This home/cabin was everything the owner promised! Nice and clean, plenty of everything you would need! Would totally do it again! Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Braswell for sharing your home away from home with us! The Spring Family
My son, daughter in law, grandson age 3 and myself just returned from our vacation here. We had a great time and didnt want to leave. The home is beautiful, right down to the lovely quilts on the beds. We made a fire outside every night. This home isn't missing a thing! The only negative thing i could mention would be taking trash to the dump, but they only charge 20.00 if you leave it. We took it, but next time we will leave it.
The house had sufficient furnishings, linens and dishes, plus had a great hot tub. It had a peculiar layout with three floors, a separate one for each bedroom and bathroom. During our stay, it became cold and we had to use the baseboard heaters; these were difficult to regulate and produced a drying heat. All in all, the house provided what we needed despite not having a scenic view of the mountains. It was quite easy to make reservations and the owner provided excellent detail and information about the location, driving directions, and various materials about the area attractions. We found all that was sent quite helpful. As it turned out, we never found the lake with the paddle boat and fishing available.
The house was perfectly decorated for fall with adorable leaves, pumpkins, decorations, etc. to make the house such an enjoyable place to stay. I have already raved about the home to family and friends and absolutely plan to stay there again! Mr. Braswell was easily accessible when we had questions about directions to the home and left everything we needed for our stay. Such a great time and perfect area near Bryson City!!
My family and I visited on Golden Pond for fall break. We had a great time . It was a good base camp for exploring the the national Park and visiting Bryson city. We grilled out and enjoyed the fire ring and hot tub at on Golden Pond. Beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. I would like to come back one day.
Very nice an clean place to spend time in the mountains
The home is tucked away on a hillside, such that when you are out on the deck, you can pretend you are in a treehouse! The house had everything we needed - plenty of dishes, towels, etc. We relaxed in the hot tub every night. Wi-fi worked. We were about 15 to 20 minutes from Bryson City, where we were able to shop for groceries and dine at some local restaurants. This was a hiking trip for us, and most trails were under an hour to get to, including parts of the Appalachian Trail. This home was the perfect spot for us (4 adults).
Kitchen had everything needed. Living room had comfortable couch and loveseat plus a rocking chair. Kitchen table was right there also. All beds were comfortable. Hot Tub worked fine. Ingles grocery store in Bryson City. This is a large Grocery Store. Roads were steep but had an SUV that managed it fine. Paved road to house was a nice touch. Window Air Conditioners were nice and cold. Smoking on deck's was nice, but no ashtray's. Lake is about 300 yards from the house. We didn't have a chance to fish like we wanted to.
We enjoyed our stay at On Golden Pond and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The house is in a quiet, woodsy location with no traffic/road noise, etc. It is clean and well decorated for a country/mountain cabin. There's enough beds to sleep up to nine people if you had to, but the living room and kitchen would be a little tight with that many. It is perfect for 4-6 people, though. There's a nice deck with a charcoal grill and a fire pit with seating right outside the back door. The location is great if you want to be close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Bryson City, and plenty of hiking trails. The owner seems like a nice guy, he contacted me in advance to confirm I knew how to get there and called again during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed.
We very much enjoyed our stay! It was so quiet there that when a car came down the road we all looked at it like we spotted a wild animal. We did quit a few meals at the home and every time we needed something we just looked around and found it was there. The kitchen was well equipped. All the beds were comfortable and clean. They had a grill, fire pit, and a hot tub. I forgot to mention the foosball table. The decks around the house were very comfortable to sit and read while sipping coffee. Tons of stuff to do in the area! Enjoy your stay!
We recently drove 13+ hours to this home. We were very excited about this trip as we arranged with 3 of our adult working childre to enjoy the outdoors and this area with the many options for fun. We all were able to schedule time off from work and coordinate schedules etc. Unfortunately, the house sustained damage from a storm when a tree hit the house putting a large hole in the roof. The owner had the roof tarped, but not repaired 2 weeks prior to our stay and opted not to inform us about this damage. With continued bad weather, the roof began leaking. We arrived to a house smelling of mold, floods in the loft through the floor to the main floor. The carpet and bathroom linoleum were ripped up on day 2 of our stay rendering the loft unusable and 5 commercial fans were set up for the rest of our stay. It was so loud in the house, you could not even watch tv. The owners response to us when we told him about the damage was if you leave I will refund your $. He never offered any suggestions about alternative options in this remote area that we were not familiar with. We opted to stay and make the best of our vacation with day trips away from the home. Evenings were not peaceful! We had contractors in and out while we were there and we never knew when someone would be knocking on the door for these repairs. I feel like at the very least ,as a safety issue, the owner should have been better communicating with us about their schedules. Although the owner refunded 1/2 our money, it was not without several emails back and forth. He was not sympathetic at all to how we were affected by his inability to properly maintain his rental property or his decision to inform us about the situation prior to us driving 13+ hours to get there. The house is in a remote area and the street sign was missing. We had quite a time trying to find the house in the dark. The owner does not live close, but has people maintain (said with a sarcastic laugh) the house for him. He should have someone replace that street sign if he is going to rent this to people unfamiliar with the area. Even the contractors complained about how difficult it was to find the house.
The house was nice. There were a few cosmetics but nothing that would affect your vacation. The drive way is very steep. You will definitely get your work out if walking down to the lake. The lake is down the road a little ways. There is a paddle boat that was accessible on the lake, but be sure to look for spiders as big as your hand before getting in. The house doesn't have central air but has 4 air conditioners that kept the place nice and cool if not too cool. Great water pressure in the showers. I was surprised with spices, flour, sugar, and some groceries that was in the house. There are plenty of dishes, pots, pans, silverware and cooking utensils. You will not need to bring anything but groceries for your stay. We went horseback riding which is just the horses following the trails at a slow pace (nothing adventurous), white water rafting (beware that you might be dropped off just before a level 3 rapid so hang on to your paddle and your raft), and the train ride in Bryson City was nice but a little on the expensive side. The Biltmore is about an hour away and pretty costly. If you make reservations a week before you can get a discounted rate and it will take you the biggest part of the day to see everything there. Cherokee has a play called Unto the Hills which is about the trail of tears. Its a very nice outdoor theater. There were many stairs. There were plenty of unreserved seats which cost about $20 and you can sit anywhere outside of the reserved seating and the seats are just as good. Reserved seating cost $23. It was a good relaxing vacation and would definitely stay here again.
Our time was a great get away from the busyness of everyday life. We were able to go tubing, whitewater rafting, fishing, and swimming very conviently from On Golden Pond. Kids loved the pond. The mountians are beautiful! Hot tub was fantastic after a busy day of activities.
We had a wonderful week at on Golden Pond! The house was clean, comfortable and cozy - the kitchen has anything and everything you need to cook meals. The set up was great for the family - the kids had their own downstairs retreat. There are many games and tons of books to read. So many things to do and see in the area! We enjoyed the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, whitewater rafting and zip lining at Nantahala Outdoor Center, fishing in the pond, hiking, seeing the Elk just outside of Bryson City, visiting the Fontana Dam and the Biltmore Estate. We also took a wonderful day trip to Waynesville - what a great little town! Too much nearby to see in one week! Darnell Farms had huge cantaloupe and delicious blackberries and strawberries. I would definitely recommend On Golden Pond!
Lovely home with enough room fornoit family of 6 people to play games, make meals and enjoy the area. We took day trips to Asheville and Franklin as well as visited the wonderful ladies as Wehrloom Honey and Yellow Branch Pottery and Cheese. We also went to a quaint family owned farm--Sleepy Hollow Farm--picked our own strawberries.
We had a great stay @ On Golden Pond. The home was beautifully decorated, very clean & comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. The community area and pond were so beautiful - we loved walking there and letting our boys play. Thank you!
Comfort's were not spared. Quiet, convienient, and beautiful cottage. The owners are very thoughtful of the people staying in their home. Thanks Sabrina and Bruce Packard
I have stayed at this same cabin for 2 years now for the same car event. Its very nice and has an awesome home-y feel to it. Its pretty close to Fontana village, about 20 minutes. I get 4g cell service there and free Wi-Fi, which I love. There are not, many downsides to this place. I love it thats why I stay there, but there were a few things I feel could be better. Like the water hose. The nossle sprays out the sides ans the hose is too short to reach all the way around my car. I brought my own nossle this year. And there was supposed to be a remote for the upstairs light/fan. It was no where to be found, so the fan was on and no lights. I couldnt see and there was one night it was very chilly. The cabin is filled with things you may need or could use. I would definitely recommend staying here especially if you need to house a bunch of people affordably. Also check out stecoah diner. Doesnt look like much but the food and people are amazing.
The vacation rental was just as promised. Clean, everything you needed, & nestled in beautiful surroundings. Area information the owner had at the house was outstanding! Peaceful, cozy, and worth every penny! We had 4 independent adults in our party so the entrance keypads were fantastic as we didn't have to keep hunting the keys.
Had a wonderful stay, plenty of R & R that was much needed.
This property is as advertised and so much more that words can't even describe. Our family of 3 had a fantastic time and enjoyed the extra amenities...fishing pond, game room and hot tub were among the few of our favorites. We hated to leave and wish we had more time. We highly recommend this property if your looking to escape the hustle and bustle of every day city life.
Quiet, clean, well stocked home away from home. The chalet has several nice touches that make it extra special. We were there for New Years, the home was decorated for the holidays and even had pine scented candles and difusers😊 The layout of the home allowed the teenagers to have their own space and the adults to have their space as well. Our boys enjoyed the hot tub every night. Our stay was great, thank you for a memorable birthday in your vacation home.
Excellent home, every bedroom on a different floor, about 25 minutes to Bryson City, could not get GPS or phone service, but house has a phone. Great location in cute subdivision, home has everything you can think of.
Inside and out felt like home! Although it rained just about our entire stay, we were comfortable in every way. Really enjoyed the fireplace and Christmas decor.
Plenty of room for three families - we had 6 adults and 2 small children. Thankful for three bathrooms! Well-equipped kitchen. Near a small community park that would be nice for a family-reunion-type get-together. We will consider this property when visiting the Nantahala area.
Perfect set up for families! Plenty of space downstairs for the children and good common area on the middle floor. Plenty of dishes and cooking utensils.
This lovely and comfortable house is conveniently located for Smoky Mountains National Park, Bryson City, Lake Santeetlah, and points further west. The master bedroom looks out onto the fall foliage; there is a large porch for picnics and dinners out-of-doors; the hot tub is perfect for end of day relaxing; and the hosts are helpful and accommodating. We would recommend this place!!!
This property was so clean and stocked with almost everything you need. Absolutely perfect. My husband and I will be visiting again!
Everything was as advertised and fantastic! My wife and two kids and I had a great stay. Very homey and fully supplied. Close to all the nantahala and Bryson city activities. Owner was very thorough in prepping us for our stay. Great value.
On Golden Pond is a very clean house and had plenty of space for my husband, myself and our four grandsons ages 9,8, 6 & 5. The downstairs bedroom was ideal for them to sleep and watch their own tv in the early morning and evening. The down side was their isn't a dvd player and I had brought several movies for them to watch to unwind. I thought I had read there was one. We took them hiking at Deep Creek to see the three waterfalls and the next day went back to tube down Deep Creek, which is something none of us had down before. The water is cool, though. The second night we took them into Cherokee to go through shops before going to Unto These Hills, which the boys really liked. A two hour performance but kept their attention throughout. Bryson City is a great area for activities. The house is about 15 miles away. Watch out for the bees! Our 8 yr. old was stung on the cheek and ankle when they were on the hill in front of the house. That was off limits the first afternoon we arrived.
The house was exactly as it looked in the pictures. The scenery was unbelievable. When we were at the house we spent most of the time outside enjoying the mountain surroundings. The house was very cozy and made us feel at home. It was a perfect location - close to Nantahala and close enough to town. Our teenage kids really enjoyed the house, fire pit, hot tub and the nearby lake. The owners, months before our vacation, sent us an enveloped filled with brochures and local information. It really helped to plan our trip and we were excited to see all the fun stuff to do. The owners know the area very well and mapped out a lot of the properties as well as locations for grocery stores and restaurants. It was a vacation we will never forget. We highly recommend this place.
The house was beautiful and very clean when we arrived. Very close to Cherokee.
We had such a wonderful time! The kids loved learning how to fish in the lake on the property and eating Smores around the fire pit. We took the owner's suggestions for places to eat in Bryson City and they were spot on. We loved the breathtaking views of The Great Smoky Mountains as we were driving around the area and the seclusion was just what we were looking for during this family vacation. On Golden Pond was beautiful, both inside and out and had everything we could have needed for a week long stay.
We found the house to be exactly as advertised. Clean, well kept and in a great location. I would highly recommend this property. Loved the small lake, the community grounds are well maintained. I enjoyed walking through the community. We used the grill and the hot tub and both were in excellent shape. Be warned that this property has lots of stairs. The driveway is steep as you can see in the pictures. Got a great workout going up and down the driveway and all the stairs!
This may be a bit lengthy but I want to go over everything. I enjoyed very much staying in this home. It had everything they said it would and some. There were lots of personal touches such as bibles or cards and such lying around. I enjoyed that. It is placed very nicely on a hill which gave us a perfect place to hang out this summer. The fire pit was awesome. I didn't get a chance to get in the hot tub but it looked very clean and well kept, as did the whole place. It was very clean and tidy everywhere. Not one complaint about cleanliness and I am picky picky when it comes to that, props to your cleaning lady. There were a few things that kind of irritated me about this place though. I asked how far this was from Fontana Village Resort and was told 10 minutes, 15 at the most. Turns out it is actually closer to 30 minutes, about 20+ miles. Also I told the owners that we would have some cars coming that are very low to the ground (we were going for a car event) and asked how the road and driveway were. He said they were paved and shouldn't be much worry, it wasn't bad on my car, I scraped one time at the top of the driveway, but everyone else had a very difficult time with Tobacco Branch Rd. and the driveway, turning in and at the top. Those are my only complaints. It would have played a roll in my decision had I knew exactly how far it was. Overall, I really enjoyed myself, the beds were comfy and everything you need or could have forgotten is probably already there. I also received an email feom the owner thanking us for the way we left the place, thats always nice to hear that you're appreciated.I will probably return in the future, maybe just not with my low cars this time.
We so enjoyed our weekend at your great cabin! This was our first time doing this type of rental and I was a bit nervous until we got there. The provided directions and map were spot on and the cabin was perfect! Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens. We can't wait to visit again! Will & Jenn Hendrix
We loved this property, it was secluded very spacious comfortable and quiet ! We loved the game room downstairs and enjoyed playing fooseball and frisby while it rained ! It was really a very enjoyable relaxing time!!!
On Golden Pond was the perfect retreat for a few spring break days. Everything was as it was described. The house was nicely equipped to cook and grill whatever we wanted. There was plenty to do at the house, it was well stocked with books (local area birds and flowers), board games and foosball. My son and I had a blast. The jacuzzi was a warm welcome to brisk nights and mornings. The owners were very responsive on a few small issues. There is quite a bit to do in the area and the owner was nice enough to send a packet of information to allow us to plan in advance. Lake Fontana is beautiful and there is amazing hiking, watefalls, and great river views close by We would highly recommend this place as a great away
Stayed from 3/24 to 3/27 and had the best time. My kids enjoyed the tub since it was not hot enough to swim in the lake. We were pretty close to the places we planned to visit. Home had everything we need, even a rice cooker. :) The owner sent so much brochures of what to do and that is the first time I received so much information from a vacation home especially in the mountains.
We had a great time at the cabin. It was nicely stocked with all the basics you may forget on a last minute trip. The owners were very responsive and helpful with providing information on the location, things to do around and throughout the house... I would recommend a few things to Larry... 1) the mattresses and linen definitely need an upgrade 2) information information... It was good but I'd recommend consolidating the small bits and pieces of it in one folio... Rest all was great.. Looking forward to these upgrades and visiting the area again...!! Good luck
All I can say is we LOVED it...... Everything we needed was provided and the bed was WOW... we grilled out every night and enjoyed the deck, went to the pond and I fished for a while and caught a couple brim and released them.... Had a ball Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay at a great price!!!!!
Our stay at On Golden Pond was FANTASTIC!!!! The Home had EVERYTHING we needed for our stay, the beds were great(beds in a vacation rental are usually low quality) The deck I loved sitting in the evenings grilling (on a weber charcoal grill.. Wow) and chilling with my friends and family. It is close enough to town but far enough outside town for my liking. The pond was just a half minute drive and I actually caught a couple fish(catch and release for me).... The ease of renting is fabulous and the home is well taken care of... Overall we LOVED our stay... BTW we always take our cast iron frying pan with us because we love it and guess what....... There were TWO of them in kitchen!!!!! Thank you Hope to be back
Very nice place to stay. It is just like home. The owner gets back with you at a very timely manner.
On Golden Pond is in a good location for access to the North Carolina side of the Smokies. It has a well equipped kitchen and is comfortable overall. The air conditioning can be a problem. The main living area must be kept cold for the AC to reach the loft and one of the bed rooms. We enjoyed Cherokee arts and crafts, Unto These Hills and fishing Fontana/Nantahala. This place would be great for a bunch of guys who wanted to fish Fontana.
The unit has all we need for a comfortable stay
The unit contains every thing needed for a comfortable stay. It is very quiet and peaceful! Not too far from most any place in the area that you want to visit.
My granddaughters and I had a wonderful six days at On Golden Pond. The chalet is fully equipped and has everything one could need. It is in a beautiful area and is convenient to area attractions -- white water rafting, zip lining, horseback riding, hiking, scenic drives, etc. We enjoyed all these activities. The chalet itself is great with all the comforts of home. The girls especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and roasting marshmallows over the outdoor fire pit. Before we left home, Mr. Braswell sent excellent instructions and directions, along with brochures on area attractions. There were helpful notes in the chalet itself. I would recommend On Golden Pond as the best, most affordable place to stay in the area. We had a great time.
We enjoyed our stay at On Golden Pond. The map the owner provided was awesome and helped us find our way around to many of the things we did. We spent most of our days out and enjoyed the home in the evenings. We weren't able to use the patios or hot tub after dark since neither are screened in, but the patios were great to sit on in the mornings and early evenings. The house is very comfortable and conveniently located. I would have to agree with the comments about the trash ... I would rather pay a small fee to leave it in the outside cans than have to trek it into town... maybe because there were five of us and we cooked every night and generated more trash than the normal guest? Overall our stay at On Golden Pond was fantastic!
We had an enjoyable visit at On Golden Pond. Interacting with the owners is very easy. The property is clean, well-furmished, and as described well on the VRBO site. The linen and towel supply was ample. The house is secluded (not isolated) and on a wooded lot. There is no view of the mountains, but the surroundings are lovely. The owners sent an excellent map. It is best to locate the house for the first time during daylight hours. There is no lighting on the roads. The house sleeps eight people. There were four of us, and we had plenty of space. The house would work well for six people. However, more than six people who all want to hang out in the same area might have difficulty. There is no place with seating for more than six people in the same space unless beds are utilized. There is a walk-out basement where two of the beds are located. While we did not detect any noticeable odor upon arrival, after three nights, we did begin to smell a basement-like odor. The mother of our family was concerned that basement entrance/exit was in the room with the two beds. Renters must dispose of their own trash. That seemed a bit excessive to us, particularly since the trash dumpsters were located about 15 minutes from the home. Previously, we have put our trash into bear-proof cans outside the rental to be picked up by the cleaning service. We ended up carrying our trash part of the way home with us, because neither of the two dumpsters available were located on our route going home. The mountains are beautiful, and On Gold Pond is well-located for of hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The nearest grocery is 15 minutes away in Bryson City. We enjoyed eating at Anthony's in Bryson City, but we found Soda Pops to be overrated by the person (not the owners of On Golden Pond) who mentioned it to us. We also enjoyed Rivers Edge Restaurant in Nantahala Gorge. Our favorite activity (other than spending time together) was the Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tour by Wildwater. The Deep Creek area of the Smoky Mountain National Park is in Bryson City and is a beautiful area. The hiking there is very easy, and the tubing is excellent. For biker enthusiasts, the Tail of the Dragon is near On Golden Pond. Pincu Pottery in Bryson City is an excellent activity. On Golden Pond is in close proximity to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Cherokee. We would stay again at On Golden Pond. Overall, it was a good, pleasant, and relaxing experience.
The home was sufficient for our large family with plenty of sleeping options. It is located up on a hilltop for a mountain feel. I thought you would be able to see a pond (considering the name of the home), but the pond is actually a ten minute walk from the home down the street over a ridge. So not sure why it's called On golden Pond. The hot tub was broken when we arrived; however, the owner managed to get a new one installed for our last day of vacation. House is clean and I loved all the extra linens and towels available for use. Only a few minutes drive and we were rafting down the river!
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. We had a great time & hope we can visit again in the future.
This place is awesome! Wonderful view, excellent lodging, and convenient to whatever activity you want to do. If you want a place that is clean, affordable, and convenient to tourist attractions, or a place that is quiet and surrounded by nature, then I would recommend On Golden Pond. The owners have described it perfectly. gra
We stayed for three nights at this wonderful house. It was clean, neat, tidy, well decorated and has a wonderful well equipped kitchen. It is also close to many tourist spots. The ride we took The Polar Express, on the Smoky Mountain Railroad was fantastic. The weather really did feel like the North Pole and thank goodness for the fireplace to lounge, relax and feel cozy around. The hosts were excellent to work with and we appreciated all the instructions and labels that helped us find and directions that we needed to make us feel right at home. Some soaked in the hot tube but just to cold for me outside! We certainly hope that we can come back again!!! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!!!
This is a beautiful Chalet with a lot of space. It is very warm and truly inviting. It is clean and has everything you need for your stay away from home. We had a great time and were able to relax as in the comfort of our own home. I would love to stay at On Golden Pond again and already miss everything about it.
In love with the cabin, the children enjoyed a lot, we spent pleasant moments with my family. We plan to return next year!
