LutZen Hideaway was perfect for our girls weekend! Big, beautiful main level home with a wood stove and ample seating for all 7 of us... Wonderful kitchen and gorgeous property with great location (next door to a great winery that had a little trail from our home) close to hiking trails and our favorite little store-the Lockport... Teri and James are great hosts and even left us a basket of treats and brownies and even a bag of treats for the pups too! 4 bedrooms with comfy beds and pillows and two bathrooms worked out fine... We saw a 6 point buck one morning in the front yard and a female pheasant hung out one evening eating berries on the tree..... the fire pit in the backyard was fun and the screened in porch is amazing... We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful weekend! :)
Awesome home with lots of space. Owners have thought of everything and are so welcoming! We will definitely be back!
We came to the Lutsen area for a family ski trip we have been taking since 1987. Any questions about the rental were answered promptly. Teri came to the house to introduce herself and left a tray of brownies! The house was very clean, it has very well stocked kitchen, an ample supply of firewood, towels and last minute information on happenings in the area we might like to take advantage of. Unfortunately, we were not in the area long enough to check them out. We lacked nothing. The location to the ski hill was perfect. We would love to come back to ski ( and use the new sauna that is coming) and explore the area during the summer!
Spacious and private area for friends and family. Definitely would stay again.
Great property and hosts, everything was in tip top shape and the location was convenient up and down the North Shore. Plenty of room for a larger family or multiple.
We loved the property. It was better than advertised and worked for our family get away. The owners were superb. We locked ourselves out by losing the key and they were very understanding and quickly remedied the situation. They also brought us two loaves of excellent bread. We highly recommend this property.
This is a wonderful cabin situated about half a mile from Lutsen ski resort. The cabin is well-appointed-- extra pillows and blankets in the bedrooms; lots of towels, soap and shampoo in the bathrooms; games, puzzles and a collection of DVDs in the family room; lots of firewood; a kitchen with lots of pots, pans, plates, bowls, silverware, glasses, and small appliances; and, a spacious screened in porch. The owners were friendly and not only left a welcome basket but stopped by with a pan of brownies. This is a great place! We will be back.
Our family regularly visits the North Shore and this property is centrally located for all things ‘Lutsen’. The house is excellent, kitchen is well stocked and plenty of room for families.
We had a group of 4 couples - college friends whose families are growing along with the depth of our friendship. This was a great fit for kids <1yr and those who needed space to run and explore. The place is great and met all of our needs, but everytime we would ask or think, "I wonder if they have..." we could always have what we needed: pack n play, fan, rolling pin (for making pies with kids), and then some extra perks (robust spices and homemade vanilla extract to name a few). I've stayed at a number of VRBO's but this one has the most well-stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, etc. A nice touch that has been mentioned before is the hospitality welcome basket with coffee, winery tasting, and a coupon to a maple syrup business nearby. The kids "hiked" on the path to the winery many times, and there was a night the winery had live music and we all went down there. It was both kid and adult friendly, so it made it easy to have adult time while also easily watching the kids. Lastly, the layout of the main living room space and the screened in porch meant we could all be near and around each other and enjoying each other's company, but we weren't stumbling all over each other. One group would play cribbage at a corner table, kids would be in the living room playing, others would be coloring in the sun room, while another group would be getting meals ready. We could all be together without too much togetherness and stepping over one another's toes/toys/conversation etc. We all loved it, and we'll be back.
The property is clean, we enjoy staying at this place.
Very comfortable house and location. The property owners were helpful, pleasant and communicated well. There were many details given about the house beforehand and helpful information included in the dwelling as well. Would definitely recommend this rental to others.
This place was even larger than we thought it would be, we had great fires both inside and out, everyone slept comfortably. It was very private, yet close to everything we wanted to do. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO’s; this was probably the most well-equipped place we’ve stayed, all the right little touches. (Kleenex everywhere, treats and a water bowl for the dogs, treats for the humans, more towels than 7 people could ever use ...) A guaranteed great place for any large group!
Our group had so much fun - even with rainy weather. We played games and enjoyed the warmth of the fire place! Thank you Teri and James for the special perks, too!
I wanted a place for my entire crew to stay for the weekend of the Superior 100 race. Teri's and James's place did not disappoint. Plenty of room, beautiful setting, comfortable, close to the finish line - located just after the winery. My only regret is I was too focused on my race to truly enjoy house. But then again, it took some of the worry out of the entire weekend. Finally, communication with Teri and James was always quick and friendly.
We had a most enjoyable stay!
We were so impressed with the location of the property to the venue and the spacious accommodations it gave us to explore the area. The list of" Must sees" compiled by Terri were appreciated and spot on for our group. The screened in porch extended our ability to commune with nature bug free! I'd highly recommend this property as an alternative getaway to an hotel/ condo .
The cabin was spacious and fully equipped to make for a great weekend with friends. We would absolutely this property again.
I really love this cabin. It was very clean, maintained, and well furnished. The owners are very nice to talk to as well. Thank you.
We loved our stay at this 4 bedroom home tucked in the woods and yet only a couple of miles from town. We were able to star gaze at night in the front yard. We often had our meals on the porch and got all 11 of us around the table. There is plenty of silverware - we never ran out! And it is very true when they say the kitchen is well stocked. The owners were always responsive to our needs. And everything was very very clean - something I really appreciate. This was a great find!!
The weather was mostly uncooperative but the cabin was just great. Five of us - my husband and I, two daughters and a boyfriend had plenty of space for sleeping, sitting, and cooking. It was a lovely long weekend inside!
What a beautiful private location for our family to ring in 2019. There was plenty of space for us. The kitchen is extremely well supplied. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. Our hosts were very welcoming and quickly responded to our inquiries. Teri greeted us with homemade scones and James cleared the driveway after it snowed. This location was perfect for us to xx-ski, downhill ski and snowshoe. We walked through the snowy woods and had a very special wine and cider tasting next door. Would we stay here again? Yes! Would we recommend it to friends? Yes! Thanks again James & Teri for a really special vacation home!
Teri and James were very gracious hosts! So many amenities provided, including fresh brownies on arrival! They handily removed 25 inches of fresh snow so that we could come and go easily! Highlights; skiing at Lutsen Mt., family dinners, Sugarloaf Cove, and snowshoeing to the North Shore Winery through the woods! Fun Times!!!
We spent a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday at Lutzen cabin. It was a pleasure to cook Turkey dinner in the extremely well equipped kitchen. Plenty of living space for the whole family. We were greeted with a welcome basket, fire in the fireplace and fresh brownies (they were delicious!). I would recommend the cabin to anyone who loves to enjoy the wonders of the ever beautiful North Shore! Thank you for a fabulous weekend...The Skildum’s
What a great properly right in the middle of all things Lutsen! Our family enjoyed hiking in the woods, Split Rock Lighthouse, Grand Marais and driving up the Gunflint Trail. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!
Had a wonderful stay at the Lutsen property! House slept 9 of us very comfortably and had everything we needed. Really enjoyed the screened porch and well stocked fire pit. Highly recommended for a large family or group of friends. Very private and close to lots to do :)
Spacious, great for our group of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids), we had a terrific time and will surely come back. Thanks again for the chocolate cake and coffee that was offered as a welcome present!
Location, location, location. Friends and I were in town for the Superior Spring Trail Race. This place was perfect. I almost don’t want to submit a review as I’d like to have it available again next year! It was right down the road from the race’s start line (super convenient) and the property next door was the winery which my wife and I enjoy so hit up a couple times. The house/property itself we’re beautiful. Plenty of open space for large group to hang out yet two bathrooms were tucked away for privacy. Also, holy amenities! The house was loaded with convenience...board games, movies, Netflix, fully supplied kitchen (dishes, pots, pans, spices, oil, cookware, etc, etc.) Our hosts were fantastic, easy/fast to communicate with, and even baked us some goodies! Fantastic stay. Will look to book again next year.
We were two families from the Twin Cities coming up for a ski weekend at Lutsen. The property is conveniently located on Ski Hill Road, just a few minutes from the Ski area. It is also directly next door to the North Shore Winery, which was also a big plus! The hosts were so welcoming and provided everything we needed (and more!). We used their list of things to do for sightseeing on Saturday. We skied on Sunday while 13 inches of snow fell, but no worries - the driveway was cleared by the time we returned. The cabin was clean and cozy, containing everything we needed for a wonderful stay.
We had a great experience at Lutzen Lodge. Although it is not as up to date as some of the properties in the area, it is a great value and we had everything we needed. The kitchen is super well stocked, everything was very clean and comfortable, and the brownies were outstanding! It has a great porch that would be great in warmer weather, but the inside was plenty large for our group of 7 people. The wood stove in the living room kicks out a ton of heat, and the TV swivels so that we could all watch the Olympics while enjoying the stove. Be aware that the heat in the upstairs is primarily in the hall and the bedrooms get very cold if you close the doors! But there were plenty of blankets to keep us warm, there is a heat lamp in the downstairs bathroom, and lots of hot water in the showers. The beds in all the rooms were comfortable - our only issue was when we tried to use the pull out couch for sleeping (its not really up to the task :) Would definitely recommend this property.
Very inviting! Homemade brownies and cozy place!!! Wonderful!
Place was great! Hospitality was outstanding. Fireplace was full with wood. House was very clean and well stocked with towels and bedding. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks again!
We had a great time here. The wood burning stove made for a cozy feel, and everybody slept great! The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need to cook! We have stayed many places in the area, and this was by far the best!
We spent a long weekend with our almost 5 year old twins and yellow lab and couldn't have had a better weekend. The activities in the area (gondola, hiking, Grand Maris plus the winery for the adults) couldn't have been better. This house and its location is perfect. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked and there is plenty of space to operate within. We really appreciate the warm welcome from Teri & James, thank you for sharing your wonderful home with our family!
This place was perfect for our group of 10. Plenty of space and lovely surroundings. So peaceful and beautiful. Not too far of a drive for Grand Marais and super close to Lutsen Mountains. Don't forget to check out the winery next door!
We loved our stay here. We arrived to find a welcome basket from the owners with some lovely gifts. It was great having a full kitchen that was well stocked with the essentials and more. We spent lots of time utilizing the fire pit in the backyard, with wood provided. There is a winery next door and Lutsen Mtn is just a couple of minutes up the road. Lots of fun to be had and hiking to do in the area. The owners are also very responsive to any questions that may come up.
Thank you James and Teri for sharing your home with us. The house was clean and well furnished and the setting is absolutely wonderful. Our family did a variety of things from hiking, mountain bike riding, day trips to Grand Maris, visiting the local winery, and relaxing by the fire pit. Highly recommend this home as a destination get away to others.
We had such a wonderful time here! Teri and James were incredible hosts. We arrived to a hand written note and treats, there were clear instructions on there place as well as a ton of recommendations for things we shouldn't miss out on in the area. There is a great little winery walking distance away. We spent hours on their large screened-in porch. I highly recommend staying here.
