Although we looked at the pictures and description of the preservation house, my family and friends were absolutely amazed when we arrived at the front door. When we walked inside we were in complete awe as it was more magical than pictures could convey. The architecture, period furnishings, the details including a complete Christmas tablescape in the dining room were more than we imagined. If you want to step back in time, enjoy the mountain views, and the quaint village of Waynesville with a very responsive owner, the preservation house is a must. We have traveled to Waynesville for many years, and I am so thrilled this house became available. We have already reserved it for future visits.
We first discovered this historical home while staying at another of Julie's (the owner) nearby properties. We fell in love with it, never thinking we might actually stay in it one day soon. Unbeknownst to us, Julie purchased the home and restored it to its original grandeur. If you want to experience craftsmanship and a bit of the 1920s when it was originally built, don't miss this opportunity. We wandered from room to room imagining what the walls would say about past occupants if they could talk. With all the conveniences of a modern home, we had the best of the present and the past. The house sits atop a hill overlooking downtown Waynesville with spectacular mountain views. The driveway to the house is mostly gravel but easily navigable. We prepared our meals in the completely renovated kitchen and dined outside on the large covered deck in fresh mountain air. Every room in the house has unique features and beautiful views, including the master bedroom, but the best kept secret is an unassuming door that leads to a magical third floor suite. We began each morning with our coffee on the third floor while watching the sunrise on the mountains. Divine! Downtown Waynesville, with its charming shops and eateries, is a few short blocks from the house. We walked to town every day and never drove our vehicle after we arrived. We love Waynesville, but we found it hard to leave the house and everything it offers. The owner is absolutely wonderful to work with, and she provided everything we needed, including exceptional customer service. We have already booked a return stay at the house and we can't wait to come back!
It was a dream come true to stay in a historical home. The property was tastefully decorated and maintained the feel from an earlier era, but yet had all of the modern conveniences we enjoy today. It was a joy to wind up the driveway each day line by the rock wall to the spacious home that awaited us. The nights were cool enough to doze of to sleep each evening by the warmth of the fire place. And the accommodations and rooms were ample enough to have family and friends as overnight guest without feeling squeezed for space. Further, we hosted several more guests for multiple dinners with ease. The spacious home provides inviting places inside and out for parties to dine and recline. The owner of the home Julie has thought of everything. Can't wait to return.
My family and I stayed at this beautiful home for a long weekend and could not have been more pleased! The house was not only gorgeous, but the amenities provided was were more then you could ever ask for! A true "home" away from home type of place. The Waynesville area is very relaxing and quaint as well! Would definitely stay again and recommend highly!!!
We were awestruck with our first visit in 2014 and were flabbergasted with the additional personal touches to this lovely home in 2015. Although not a Bed & Breakfast, the offering and presentation for breakfast and wine for the evening was a delightful surprise. Julie's attention to detail from the preservation of this home to making guests feel welcome is not like any other rental we've booked. My family and I are so fond of this home, it is difficult to leave it. We highly recommend the preservation house, and we look forward to future stays.
This was like staying in a Stately home. Everything was wonderful. Really well equipped and not to far from town to get in supplies. Would defineately stay here again
This home was a delight. Although there were only two of us and the home is really a very spacious property, we felt so cozy and comfortable while staying there. It truly is a stately historic property with all the modern conveniences. The kitchen has been fitted with all modern appliances while still keeping with the original flavor of an era gone by. It is fully stocked with a Keurig, pots, pans, lovely dishes and glasses, toasters, and everything else you would need to create a wonderful meal. There was a basket of snacks and other extras that I didn't expect which was a nice touch. The dining room table was set beautifully. The beautiful warm staircase and woodwork were wonderful to behold. Interesting touches everywhere. The master King bed and linens were the most comfortable that I have slept on in any of my many rentals. The outdoor covered deck is perfect to have a meal or a glass of wine after a day exploring. There is a gas grill that we did not utilize. Another aspect that we loved is the fact that the house is very private, yet only a couple of minutes from Main Street. Highly recommend!!! Oh, last but not least, the house was immaculately clean.
Beautiful property, but had issues. The water didn't work and had to go pick up water. The water guy came the following day and I had to assist him for a few hours as he troubleshooted the issue instead of enjoying our visit. Water was restored as we left. The stated their apologies, but no partial refund was given.
Want some peace and quiet? This is the place for you. The views are wonderful. You can hear the cows and goats. Everything you need is included from towels to TP to firewood for the fire pit. The chalet has a cute French country decor and plenty of room for 6. It's not too far from Waynesville, which we really enjoyed visiting.
This is an adorable property. We have been renting from Julie for over 6 years. Every property she has owned has been hard to leave. The views are amazing and the Villa is so cute. The loft is perfect for teens to have their own area to themselves. I can't wait to see the special touches she adds to this property.
Moonlit Chalet was at the top of a mountain in the woods with a view overlooking the valley. It was a little early for fall colors, but there were flowers still blooming around the cabin and the fire pit was ready for use. The owner, Julie left breakfast goodies in the refrigerator for us which was a nice surprise. The house was decorated very nicely and there were plenty of towels, items to cook with, linens and even some games at the house. I personally loved looking at the stars at night from the sofa in the living room. The front porch was a good spot to see the wild turkeys who were visiting each morning. Sadly, we did not see any deer, but down the road there were flocks of geese in the river and a farm with Bison. When we needed a little help during our stay Julie responded to our text within 10 minutes and her staff was right there to help. We received very good service. It was about a 10 minute drive to Waynesville where we found lots of little shops and restaurants. Our favorite restaurant in Clyde was the Blue Rooster. Good food and a very uplifting staff. One of our concerns was that we might not have phone service to call home but all of our phones worked with Sprint and Verizon carriers.
Very nice home. Couldn’t ask for a better view of this he sunrise, sunset or view of the mountains. Very clean, French country decor. Only negatives were lots of stink bugs and lady bugs and a good distance from downtown Asheville. But overall a great place to stay.
If you are searching for a beautiful view of the NC Mountains in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.... The Moonlit Chalet is the perfect location! The view from the porch and from the living area are absolutely breathtaking from sunrise to sunset. Nighttime will offer you a peaceful opportunity for a fireside gathering, hot dog roast and even a chance to see the deer feeding on the grass below. We had temps in the 20's - 50's and the gas fireplace system kept everyone warm... as well as the inroom heaters were a bonus to my Floridian daughter and grandson who stayed in the upstairs bedroom. The owner has every possible amenity and/or appliance provided (no Kuerig though so I had to try and remember how to make coffee). The decor is lovely, warm and welcoming. We look forward to making the Moonlit Chalet an annual family reunion location!
Watching the sun set each night over the Blue Ridge Mountains was absolutely beautiful!! The chalet was very accommodating for my family's needs. Fully furnished kitchen and lots of openness in the living room area with a gas fireplace. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows outside around the fire pit and gazing at all of the stars. Peace and quiet is an understatement!! I highy recommend the chalet ...Thank you Julie
Nice little cabin up on the mountain once we got in and settled. Owner sent the wrong code to get in. When notified, the owner was very quick to respond with the correct code. The owner had the gas fireplace going when we arrived, and a bottle of wine for us on the counter - so nice! Great view too. Do be aware there is a steep dropoff / cliff just 20ft or so from deck. I'm glad we didnt bring the dog (or kids) as I would have been very nervous! Sad we didn't get to use the outdoor firepit. Definitely glad we had the SUV to get up the twist gravel road. Good location about 40mins from Asheville, 15mins from Waynesville. Loved the gas fireplace! Fully equipped kitchen had everything we needed to make dinner each night, with eat in dining. Small couches in living room were older antiques, but decently comfy. 2 downstairs rooms and an upstairs loft with twins, but the beds weren't very comfortable. I slept on an air mattress the 3rd night. Also, the 2nd bedroom doesn't have curtains over the window which was a bit awkward. We stayed here during the artic cold snap, and once we found the breaker for the furnace in the laundry room and turned them on, we stayed nice and warm. Wi-Fi available, but we never used. Too tired and stayed unplugged the first 2 nights, and the password didnt work the 3rd night despite trying on 4 separate devices several times. Some cool unique antiques and decorations througout the house; loved the typewriter and Music decor. We enjoyed our stay and would live to visit the area again. Thank you for opening your home to us.
This home is cozy with stunning views! Some of our maternity pictures were taken at the home / surrounding areas and they look picturesque!!! These pictures were taken from the porch and within walking distance of the home. Additionally, the owner was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be visiting again :)
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is your place. The cabin was absolutely beautiful with dear playing on the front lawn every morning and evening. The cabin is beautifully decorated with every amenity.
We LOVED our stay in the Moonlit Chalet. 20 acres for the doggies to run on! Wildlife to observe.Tastefully decorated. It is not really in Asheville (40 minute drive) but we didn't care. Acceptable dining options nearby in Clyde and Waynesville. Internet was not strong but do you really go to the beautiful countryside to spend time on the internet? It was the BEST place we stayed during our 2 week tour of NC and TN. I will always remember it as a place of peace and nature with the comforts of civilization.
Lovely place, tucked away, with a spectacular view. The covered porch is perfect for relaxing and breathing in the mountain air. Hope to visit again!
