Are You looking for a unique experience? If so, you have found it at the Linekin Bay Chapel. The Chapel was converted to a 2 bedroom home and has the original stained glass windows and bell tower. It boasts a large open living room with the original hardwood floors and a sun room.
Relax on the back deck with a drink and barbecue or go for a hike on the bordering Linekin Preserve which offers over 100 acres of hiking trails including scenic ocean frontage. Also for hiking, the Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) offers over 30 miles of coastal and woodland trails which are open year round and are free to the public. A short walk takes you to bold open ocean frontage on King Phillips Trail where there are spectacular sunrises. Less than a 5 minute drive takes you to Ocean Point where you can watch a breathtaking sunset (don't forget your camera).
Downtown Boothbay Harbor is 4.5 miles away and offers numerous shops, galleries, restaurants and great night life. Ocean cruises are available here for lobster/clam bakes, as well as whale and seal watching excursions. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (the largest in New England) is less than 10 minutes from the chapel and offers over 250 acres of waterfront and woodland trails; it also includes sensory gardens, impressive waterfalls, stonework, and a great Cafe.
The Chapel has a large wrap-around deck with patio furniture and a gas grill. There is also a large sun porch which is a great place for morning coffee. It has a well stocked kitchen with some of the original wood cabinets. We have now added a dishwasher for your convenience. We also now have an air conditioner as well as a washer and dryer with recent renovations.
Feel free to use our complimentary bicycles to explore the area or rent a scooter in town. There is also a public boat ramp nearby. There is also a nearby lake so feel free to use our canoe and life jackets as long as you have a way to transport the canoe.
The Chapel, also known as 'the Pink and Purple Church', was built in 1911 and was a Methodist summer chapel. It was later converted to a private residence and an art gallery and is known for the whimsical color scheme.

This rental was definitely a 5 star rental! The owners thought of everything you might need or want and had it available. Much appreciated was the coffee and creamer and snack tray. We arrived too late to grocery shop so it was nice to have that first night and the next morning. I wish we had discovered Ocean Point swimming earlier in the week however. What fun that was! I would definitely recommend renting this place to my friends!
We enjoyed our stay at the Linekin Chapel! It was the perfect space for sleeping and gathering during our family reunion. Very clean with all amenities! Hosts were wonderful. We especially loved mornings on the deck- often followed by a walk around Little River. A perfect way to start our days. We hope to be back soon!
WE stayed at Linekin Chapel for 5 nights and can't say enough good things about it. The owners are very attentive, answering all our questions and leaving a welcome fruit platter for us. The house is as described and has everything you would need. The location is great, within easy drive of many local attractions and restaurants, which we did not really need, as the kitchen and the outdoor grill made cooking food a pleasure. The chapel is very spacious, the only thing we would recommend keeping in mind, is that two of the three bedrooms are open to the other rooms (divided by walls, but open window/ceiling respectively), which could pose a challenge with sleeping times and noise. However we would stay anytime again and highly recommend the experience!
This is our second day at this property and it couldn’t have been a better experience! The property is FULLY stocked, with anything you could possibly need. The area Is beautiful with so much to see and do! Jason and Kristin do so much to make your stay an amazing experience! We hope to come back time and time again!
We returned for a second time at this wonderful, beautiful chapel! It was such a joy to return to a place that was familiar to all of us. We relaxed on the sunny deck, read in the sunroom and enjoyed grilling. We especially loved playing corn hole, something I hadn’t had a chance to play yet. Tons of fun! We did our usual walks, caught an amazing sunset and full moon at Ocean Point! The Chapel is very clean and has everything you need to enjoy a wonderful vacation! There are so many things to do close by but we chose to just relax! The owners, Jason and Kristen are very responsive and helpful. You won’t be disappointed! We will be back!
Linekin Chapel is exceptionally well provisioned. Every day of the week we were there we had something wonderful to do: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, King Phillips Trail, Linekin Preserve, Damariscotta River, Boothbay Harbor, walking at the point of Ocean Point Road, kayaking on the Pemiquid River, games, puzzles, and movies from Netflix.
We had a great stay here in a beautiful conversion of an old chapel. The place was spacious and very clean, and well equipped for our week long stay. We loved relaxing on the sunny deck, and grilling. The property included 2 brand new bicycles, which we used to take us to Ocean Point. Owners were very helpful and responsive.
Lovely and unique property. Just pack your toiletries and clothes and that's all as this home has everything else you could possibly need/use. Really, everything. Just two of us so a really large space. Sunroom is delightful. Main living room/dining room with multiple seating areas is very comfortable, spacious and huge. Plus the comforts of really good heat in the home (not sunroom but we supplemented the sunroom with a space heater and it was great as the sun really works in the sunroom) and a large screen TV in the great room to watch the important sporting events! The home was really clean -- we are extremely Covid cautious and we felt so comfortable here. Maine in late October is very empty -- most restaurants seemed closed -- but because of Covid we weren't going to eat in anywhere so that didn't impact us. Having no traffic and few people, great weather and terrific hikes all over the broader area was wonderful. Thank you to our hosts for providing such a unique and comfortable stay.
Cute, comfortable and convenient. We loved staying in this lovely, roomy unique chapel. The owners are so welcoming to offer a bottle of prosecco, a bowl of M and M's, a large cheese and fruit platter as well as crackers. The kitchen was stocked with everything (new looking) you need to create a meal. The larder had many things you will need also, such as oil, vinegar, tea bags, flour, sugar.... The location was convenient to explore from York (south) and up the entire midcoast region. This is the place to stay if you are coming to the coast of Maine.
Our second vacation at the beautiful Linekin Chapel was again outstanding! This is definitely THE place to stay while vacationing in Boothbay. We will be back next year and our thanks go out to the Dobbins for providing such a wonderful, clean and special place. Candy & Bruce
The Linekin chapel in Boothbay is a great place in every way. The chapel is very clean, comfortable, spacious and well decorated. For cooks, the kitchen has all the necessary tools to create vacation meals. The hosts Kristin and Jason are very responsive and make you feel welcome. Again, it's a great place for your stay in Maine.
Nicely decorated, very clean, well organized and stocked with everything you need.
We had an excellent stay at the chapel. Jason and Kristin have the place well stocked with everything you would ever need and they were easily accessible. It’s a unique place to stay with gorgeous stained glass windows and lots of space. There is plenty to do in the area and we filled our days with activities of all kinds as well As some needed relaxation. We highly recommend this property.
The stylish home had everything we needed.
There is no way to put in to words how great this property is, and how great and communicative Jason and Kristen are. We loved this Chapel so much we didn't want to leave. I looked forward to a relaxing vacation, and this fit the bill perfectly. I got so much reading done!! The Chapel is so charming and welcoming. I really didn't even want to leave to sight see!! The attention to detail and cleanliness was very obvious the minute you walk in the door. Jason and Kristen were very attentive and want to make sure your stay is top notch. It was! Mostly everything to do is within a short driving distance. Such as the harbor, shops and Restaurants. Sightseeing cruises too! You will not regret staying here, we don't! Hope to be back again soon! Thanks so much!!
The hosts were so gracious, generous and attentive! They made this memorable setting comfortable and very well stocked with the necessities that made our stay warm and pleasant. We were looking for an adventure and found one here nearby to beautiful scenery, hiking trails, tennis courts and the charming village of Boothbay Harbor. Boothbay Harbor was great and offered us the opportunity to enjoy great seafood, boating, fishing boat excursions, kayaking, hiking, some shopping and convenience. Many thanks for everything!
Jason and Kristin had done a wonderful job in their renovation, keeping the charm and atmosphere of this beautiful church. Kristin had a great time decorating with the details, particularly with the bell collection. It added a special something. I particularly enjoyed the glassed in porch for my morning coffee, waiting for Beth to rise. If I had one wish for the property, it would have been a second bathroom, but other that that it was a great stay and we will not hesitate to book again when we return to Maine.
We really enjoyed the stay and the host are very helpful and nice. Jason and Kristin made our trip memorable. I would want to go back again and recommend to friends.
Thanks so much to Kristin and Jason for their warm and generous welcome to their beautiful home. They go above and beyond to provide everything you will need. We had a wonderful time- we loved the stained glass windows, beautifully furnished comfortable rooms, the cleanliness, sunroom and deck. Enjoyed cycling, walking by the shore and visiting Boothbay Harbor. We hope to come back every summer! Thank you!!
Staying at the Linekin Chapel was one of the most unique travel experiences yet. The location is ideal.... within an hour's drive of so many opportunities for an authentic Maine experience. It's only minutes from the Boothbay Harbor where we picked up fresh lobsters from the wharf and cooked them in the well-equipped kitchen. The renovations done to this unique property are perfect - keeping the integrity of the historic building and adding all the amenities anyone could want - including washer/ dryer, wifi, cable TV, a beautiful outdoor deck shaded by oak trees, a woodstove and large sitting porch. It's amazingly large and tastefully decorated. We were so comfortable here. We were there for eight days - and it rained for the first six. But this place is ideal for just hanging out and experiencing the Maine landscape ... even the rainy landscape. On our final day, the sun came out and we ventured out for a long drive and in the evening we watched the sunset from the bell tower. Talk about your unforgettable experience! The hosts were so welcoming. It's obvious that they love this place and have restored it with care. They are very interested in their guests. I would highly recommend the LInekin Chapel.
Truly one of a kind and with great hospitality, among the best. Wonderful area and nothing not worthwhile. Never want for electrical access as there are outlets everywhere which is very convenient. Very well stocked with most everything.
Linekin Chapel is one of the best, if not the absolute best, of some 75 or more houses, cottages, cabins and apartments at which we have stayed all over the world. First of all, it is wonderful to see how the owners renovated and repurposed an old property that might otherwise have been demolished and, in effect, shared it with travelers. It is spacious and comfortable, much nicer and attractive than the typical hotel room. It is well furnished and equipped, with a well-stocked kitchen and gas grill for eating in rather than always dining out (although we did enjoy lobster rolls and oysters for lunch). Everything was spotlessly clean, and everything worked well. And the bottle of Prosecco and fruit and cheese platter left for us was greatly appreciated It is truly the gold standard of all the places we have rented through VRBO and similar sources.
This was our first visit to the Boothbay region and staying here made it EXTRA special!! The hosts are so friendly and accommodating, the place itself is unique but also clean, comfy, and full of cozy charm! A big thank you for the welcome treats. We were made to feel most at home here. Excellent place!!
It would be very difficult to summarize our experience with Jason and Kristin's wonderful property. Fresh flowers on the table, fruit and cheese tray, bottle of wine, and the absolute cleanest property imaginable. Nothing was left to chance. Bikes to use, canoe to use, games to play, books to read, brochures on every attraction in the area. If you are looking for a place to stay you would be very well served by booking this wonderful chapel. Thanks J and K for the wonderful hospitality.
You can scroll down and read all of the other reviews and sort through the details. But everything you read will be true. I know! How can you believe this stuff? But it is real. From the moment you drive up to the purple chapel until the very last minute, it’s hard to believe its true. Any detail you can think of has been thought of. Any necessity has been provided for. There is literally nothing lacking here. From the lobster pot to the Guinness beer mug (How DID they know?) it is right there and easy to find. I have to admit that I have never slept so comfortably in a church. Inside, it rather feels more like a castle. The rest you can read for yourself; close to Town; close to beach; close restaurants; close to lobster wholesaler..... But book it now. Don’t miss the chance!
Our stay at Linekin Chapel was a unique and thoroughly enjoyable experience. With stained glass windows, interesting nooks and crannies, nice decorations and furnishings, it is both charming and comfortable. Set next to a preserve and near yet far enough away from Boothbay Harbor, it Is quiet while providing an excellent base of operations for the area. Jason and Kristin have thought of everything to make ones stay comfortable and trouble free - including a welcoming platter, wine and staples provided.
This chapel is no ordinary vacation rental. It is so unique and beautiful, with stained glass windows everywhere, many creative pieces of shell art, comfortable couch and chairs to relax in after hiking around the various trails and preserves that are part of the Boothbay Region Land Trust. Watching the sunsets at Ocean Point every night is beyond description. Boothbay Harbor is less than 5 miles away and has many interesting places to visit, especially the first class art galleries, a variety of small local stores, the harbor restaurants and the piers where the boats leave for various tours, including the boat that goes to beautiful Monhegan Island. We saved for our last day a visit to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which is only a 10 minute drive from the chapel. What a beautiful place. Jason and Kristin are incredible hosts. The whole house was immaculate with amenities galore. The kitchen was fully stocked, there is a gas grill on the wrap around deck, games and puzzles, even binoculars. We highly recommend the chapel, you will not be disappointed.
Aug 2019 Bruce B Linekin Bay Chapel is simply a perfect get away in Boothbay! We have been coming to Boothbay for over 20 years and this rental is perfectly located & outstandingly beautiful inside! The chapel is large, well maintained with excellent amenities and extremely well equiped. The Dobbins are extremely nice and very responsive. We have already reserved the chapel again for next summer! Boothbay is a world class vacation location that everyone should visit!!!
excellent rental for a good location :close to sightseeing, water activities,a great Maine beach, and grocery shopping and dining out. fully equipped kitchen. we had no problems during our stay, but the owners were very availablel,if needed. We enjoyed the unique and historic nature of the property. a very expansive deck for entertaining ,with a peaceful woodland view. Boothbay Harbor is a very short drive away, with al the excitement of a Summer resort town.
A week in the Pink and Purple Church just isn't enough! If we could stay the whole summer, we would have! The Linekin Chapel is a unique vacation rental in all the best ways! It was IMMACULATE upon arrival and is so well stocked with every kitchen tool you can image from plenty of every day dishes to a lobster pot! We used the grill every single day for our dinner and enjoyed sitting on the wrap around porch. We were provided with comfortable beds, amazing smelling linens and more than enough towels. The Chapel itself has so many nooks and crannies, we are convinced we didn't find them all! Jason and Kristin were absolutely amazing from the time we booked our trip to making sure that we made it home from our trip. They provided a beautiful fruit and cheese platter and a bottle of wine for us and there is plenty of info provided about the surrounding area! East Boothbay and the surrounding area are a prefect getaway! You won't go wrong if you book the Linekin Chapel for your next vacation!
We had a fantastic stay at the Linekin Chapel in East Boothbay! It is conveniently located 5-20 minutes from everything you would want to do in the Boothbay area. We had thoroughly read reviews about the property and the hosts before booking, and were just as impressed as everyone else. The chapel is spacious, lovely, homey, and impeccably clean. It is as charming and cozy as a bed and breakfast, only you have the whole place to yourself! The hosts were as wonderful as everyone had led us to believe. There are window AC units in the living/dining area, and the 2 main bedrooms. We were blown away by the fact that there were even more amenities included as a part of this vacation home, than people had listed. Things that we had never expected like laundry detergent, binoculars, a hair dryer, a backpack, picnic basket, perfect sized cooler and ice pack, soap, plastic bags, badminton set, reading glasses, information and maps on area attractions, books on the bookshelf, beach towels, beach mats, a small child's beach chair, paper towels and napkins, picnic supplies, condiments and coffee in the refrigerator, spices, flour, sugar and oils, 2 bicycles with helmets, life preservers for 3 for the canoe, tons of games (Our 5 year-old twins loved Twister, Jenga, Checkers, and Dominoes as those were the only ones good for their age- but there are many more choices too.) and more. It was like moving into a very lovely and well stocked home, only you were on vacation! Some of this could have been the result of past visitors, however it was so amazing that we were WOWED by how thoroughly this house prepares you for a great visit to Maine! We now have been spoiled by such a great 9 nights at the Chapel, that it has set a new standard for what we are looking for in a Vacation Rental. Kudos to Jason and Kristin. They have redefined what it means to have a great Vacation Rental!
We are so thankful we ran across this property when searching for a place to stay in Boothbay. The listing description and reviews were completely accurate. This place is special for being unique, but also because it was incredibly comfortable and situated perfectly to enjoy Boothbay. We loved the decorations, cleanliness, sitting in the sunroom, and sitting on the deck looking out into nature. We enjoyed sitting on the rocks at Ocean Point, Pemaquid Lighthouse (take a picnic),Boothbay Harbor, hiking, and canoeing (canoe included with the stay). Some of our favorite food discoveries were Wicked Whoopies in Boothbay Harbor and the deep dish raspberry pie at Ocean Point Inn. Our favorite meal was from Robinson's Wharf where we tried lobster for the 1st time. The owners are so helpful and responsive and they will help you enjoy your stay as well - Kristen F.
The chapel was perfect for our family. The Hosts were very accommodating and gracious! The area was great for walks to the water and hikes through the woods, which we enjoyed very much. There is a lot to do in Boothbay and nearby. It was all perfect!
It was so unique and beautiful too! Tired of the usual vacation rentals? Do something special and surprise your family with this amazing piece of history. The rooms have all the bells and whistles, yet have touches of history everywhere. The cubbies never seemed to end. And the homeowners seem to know just what their guests need to feel special. You will not be disappointed in this property! We’re looking forward to returning again and again! Highly recommend it. The location is perfect for touring in any direction, or just to get away for a little peace and quiet and meditate a while. It’s more than a house. It’s a true sanctuary! Great vacation!
These folks are the best hosts you could ever hope to find. The chapel is beautiful. The fruit and cheese plate with champagne is very welcome after a long day traveling. The tourist literature provided by the hosts is extremely helpful. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable stay.
Whether a person of faith or agnostic, the Linekin Chapel affords a delightful and memorable stay in the Boothbay area. The generous welcome platter with fruit, cheeses, crackers and other nibbles lasted the entire week. A nice bottle of wine was included. My wife and I have stayed in many VRBO properties in the US and Europe and few were as well stocked as this one. This unique experience will stand out for us and I suspect for others. Although two adult couples can be easily accommodated and children will enjoy climbing a ladder to the third bedroom, sharing the one bathroom located between the two first floor bedrooms will be necessary. Few rentals offer the ambiance and special touches this property provide. John & Marie Wisconsin
If you are planning a trip to the Boothbay Harbor area look no further! The Pink and Purple Church, as this property is known locally, is an exceptional find. The interior is truly stunning, and the owners have paid close attention to every detail to make your stay comfortable and cozy. We loved our eight nights there and hated to leave. As other reviewers have mentioned, you are greeted with a platter of cheese and fruit in the frig, fresh flowers and a bottle of Prosecco -- what could be nicer? Stained glass windows surround the space and filter light throughout the day in the living room area, the bathroom and both bedrooms. The closets in the bedrooms have automatic lights and are well-stocked with towels and other linens you might need. We immediately noted how much thought Jason and Kristin have given to organizing the living space, with everything placed in a logical and easily accessible spot: the kitchen utensils, pots and pans, storage containers, coffee filters, dish towels, spices, foils and wraps. We have rented some high-end places and have been disappointed at the state of the kitchen with everything just thrown together for the next set of guests. Not so at the Pink and Purple Church. Jason and Kristin clearly care about you and your experience in their home. And the kitchen was important to us! Not much is open in East Boothbay or Boothbay Harbor in early May (think very cold and very wet) so we cooked almost every night. Some other thoughts: the chapel is very well-heated, no drafts or cold spots. The WIFI signal is strong, and the TV offers Netflix and other options. Ocean Point is just a short drive away, great for photos and looking for sea glass and driftwood. Just down the road is the Linekin Preserve trail; other preservation areas are also close by. The drive to Popham Beach State Park is easy, go at low tide to walk out to Fox Island. The Art Museum and the Arctic Museum on the Bowdoin campus in Brunswick (free) are great for a rainy day. --Many thanks to Jason and Kristin! We look forward to future stays at Pink and Purple and have already recommended it to friends.
I selected Linekin Chapel from hundreds of listings as the perfect location to heal from hip replacement surgery, it was divine guidance. The peace and serenity of the property is amplified by the attention to detail provided by the caring owners who have kept as much of the 'Chapel' feel in designing a living space as is possible. Waking to sun filtering through the many stained glass windows is truly a unique experience. Jason and Kristin provide all the amenities you would have in your own home including a well appointed kitchen, comfortable seating, ample linens and towels and entertainment options for a housebound guest among the many conveniences. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood minutes from pristine views of the ocean, the true Coastal Maine, from which you can watch the sunrise or sunset. I did not miss a single sunset the entire stay! The Boothbay region has much to offer the explorer with hidden treasures like the Aquarium and The Botanical Gardens in addition to the many quaint shops, art galleries, restaurants and boat trips. While I was not able to take advantage there are also many walking trails I look forward to experiencing in the future. I highly recommend this property without reservation, you will not be disappointed. Gail G. (Augusta, Maine)
Linekin Chapel is an unusual house in that it was originally a church. The original stained glass windows and the woodwork are stunning. Even though it is historic it has all of the modern conveniences and is beautifully decorated. The house was very clean when we arrived and the owners left us a beautiful dish of fresh fruit and cheeses along with crackers and a bottle of wine. Their welcoming note made you feel as though you were staying at a friend’s house. The house is in a quiet part of East Boothbay with easy access to hiking trails. Boothbay Harbor with all of its shops and restaurants was an easy ten minutes away by car. We had a wonderful time and look forward to renting it again.
What a wonderful place to stay. Jason and Kristen have gone out of their way to make this place feel like home. They have supplied everything you need. The Chapel was so much fun to explore especially the bell tower. Location was outstanding, close to town and several hiking trails. I recommend the Linekin Burly trail right up the road, (not for the novice) Great Vacation.
We are a family of four with 2 young kids and we had an awesome time. The 'house' was fully equipped with everything you can think of. We have stayed at many places before and your first job upon arrival is a trip to the local supermarket to stock up on supplies, this was not necessary at Boothbay! everything was supplied, right down to kitchen roll and spices for cooking (perfect for the local lobster). The welcome basket of cheese, fruit and Prosecco went down well. The kids loved the garden and spent many a time picking raspberries and watching the squirrels and chipmunks in the woods behind the chapel. The local area is beautiful (we had 2 weeks of sunshine) with many walks, beaches and shops nearby. We had use of bikes and a canoe at the local lake which we made use of! We can strongly recommend this place and if we were to come back to this area, we would stay again.
The Chapel was our first “ home away from home”. We arrived a little later than planned so we didn’t get to meet the owners but there was a beautiful fruit and cheese plate in the fridge with a basket of crackers on the table. The kitchen had everything we could want or need including some basic staples and a new container of coffee creamer in the fridge. The washer and dryer were lifesavers with 3 kids and a long drive to and from the chapel. There’s so much character to the place! Can’t say enough good things about it! Hoping to come back in a couple years!
Kristin and Jason have made the perfect home away from home for my family. We will never choose another rental in Maine as long as Linekin Chapel is available. You will want for nothing on this trip. The kitchen is stocked with every utensil, bowl, or pan you will need to make any meal and a dishwasher to clean up. We use the lobster steamer and lobster crackers to make our own lobster feast (lobsters from Sea Pier in Boothbay Harbor) every year. Eating on the huge deck keeps the lobster mess outside. There are towels and linens galore, movies, books, and games for a rainy day, comfortable seating in the living room, a large, covered back porch for more room, all of the necessities that are difficult to pack or you forgot to grab at the grocery such as sugar, flour, salt, coffee, creamer, dish soap and detergent, laundry detergent, a scrubber, etc. Kristin and Jason have thought of everything for you. They even put together a delicious cheese and fresh fruit tray complete with a bottle of wine for endulging. The stained glass windows are so beautiful in the morning light. The bright and airy feel, the cathedral height ceiling, the giant deck for your morning coffee, all of this makes it so surreal. Kristin's flowers add a delicate touch to the gorgeous exterior. There is a nice yard off to the side for the kids to get outside and play. If you are a runner, the King Phillip's Trail loop is a perfect run along the ocean for you. It's a 5 minute drive to Ocean Point for the most beautiful sunrises. Boothbay Harbor has the best shops and food in Maine. Do not go to Boothbay without eating at Bet's Fish Fry! There are so many great restaurants to choose from where you can sit outside overlooking the harbor, our favorite two are the Boathouse and McSeagull's. Ten steps out of McSeagull's, you can hop on a Cap'n Fish whale watch boat, where we have seen humpback, fin, and minke whales, dolphins and porpoises, harbor seals, ocean sunfish, and lobster fishermen at work. The whale watches are so well narrated. You will learn the history of all of the islands you pass on your way out to the open sea. If you are a musical theater buff, you will know that Carousel was filmed in Boothbay Harbor, and from the whale boat, you will enjoy seeing the summer home of the Wicked Witch of the West. Popham Beach and Pemaquid Lighthouse are a short drive away. Kristin and Jason, Linekin Chapel, and Boothbay Harbor have given us so many fond memories. We will be back!!!!
What a fantastic and unique place to stay! Our family of four used the chapel as our home base while exploring the beautiful, rugged Maine coast. The attention to detail and the preservation of the chapels character is just fantastic - while being completely up to date with every modern convenience. Anything we could think of was there - everything and more for cooking/grilling meals, beach towels, coffee maker, games and books for rainy days (which we only had one), and the welcome fruit and cheese plate the owners left for us was just so lovely. The east Boothbay general store is 5 minutes away and makes great sandwiches to pack up and bring on your adventures, Boothbay itself is about 10 minutes drive and the rocky coastline at Ocean Point is a great start or finish to any day out and about. It's the perfect quiet spot to come back to at the end of each adventure and relax on the deck. The owners are beyond helpful in every way - 5 stars from this family!
This was our 2nd visit to the Chapel. Truly, we will always come back to this charmer.... The owners are by far, fantastic, to say the least! They go above and beyond to make your visit wonderful. The Chapel itself is welcoming, comfortable, well equipped, and accessible to many attractions within driving distance. The place is a pure gem---- mixed with history, personality, and a unique enirnoment that can not be matched!
Our family had an amazing week at Linekin Chapel. The house was immaculate and so well-appointed that it felt more like staying at a friend’s house than a rental. Everything we needed was there, and as others have mentioned, it was really welcoming to arrive to a fruit and cheese plate and bottle of wine! We absolutely loved the house and the area. We picked wild blueberries for our breakfasts and we ate dinner outside on the deck most nights. Half-way through the week a doe and two spotted fawns came within a hundred feet of the deck while we were eating. The chapel is a special place to stay and the Boothbay area is wonderful.
We had a wonderful time last week in East Boothbay at Linekin Chapel. It was so clean and well appointed, and Jason and Kristin left us a beautiful cheese and fruit plate as well as freshly baked cookies. The stained glass windows in most rooms were beautiful. They had everything we'd need- even toiletries in the bathroom and staples in the kitchen. There were plenty of fresh towels and beach towels, and board games. The house was really unique and had lots of relaxing areas for reading, and plenty of space for our family of three. We enjoyed the things to do close by- we spent most evenings down at Ocean Point to watch the sunset. Boothbay Harbor has some great lobster and seafood places. We also did a whale watch with Cap'n Fish's and spotted lots of whales and seals. We really enjoyed several quick meals at East Boothbay General Store, just up the street. The chapel was in a great spot, very close to woods/trails and the water. We will definitely go back on our next visit to Maine and have already recommended Linekin Chapel to friends and family!
The chapel was very special to us, discovered something new each day during our visit, and the inside was more than we had hoped for, just beautiful. The bells throughout the chapel were very special to us and the stained glass windows were also beautiful. Jason & Kristin really make you feel very welcomed, with a bottle of sparkling wine, cheese & fruit plate, and also crackers, which we never expected. They go above and beyond to make sure that you feel very welcomed and have everything that you need during your stay. They even had bikes to ride everyday, which we did and really enjoyed them. We would highly recommend the chapel, if looking for a quiet, lay back place to be, this is the place for you, you will enjoy every minute while staying at the chapel. Each and everyday while staying at the chapel we would say that the chapel was just so unique and beautiful. This was one of our best vacations that we have had. Like we said would highly recommend the chapel.
Kristin and Jason were exceptional hosts! The church is large and furnished excellently. We had an amazing time in a very comfortable home.
Words can not describe how special the Chapel is....It has been lovingly restored but retained the feel of it's history. The rooms are large and spacious. Kristin and Jason were excellent and provided for our every need! The wine and cheese tray was a lovely way to welcome us! The home is well equipped for everything and beautifully decorated. We traveled each day and it is in a great location. It was so nice to be waiting for us each night! It is peaceful yet near everything you could want to explore..... If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay---a home away from home---this is it!
Arriving at Linekin Chapel was such a treat! We felt like we had entered a five star B&B. Jason and Kristin had attended to every detail including a lovely fruit platter and bottle of wine in the fridge. The chapel was spotless and beautifully decorated. The location is quiet and minutes from Ocean Point and popular attractions on the Boothbay peninsula. We highly recommend!
This was our first time at Linekin Chapel and it was amazing. We went with my in-laws and they too loved this place. It was like our home away from home! First, Jason and Kristen have such a beautiful place and were very responsive. My Father-in-law walked into The Chapel and said WOW. They have done a beautiful job providing everything you might need, well-stocked, extremely comfortable and immaculate! The fruit and cheese platter was much appreciated with a bottle of sparkling wine, as well as the homemade chocolate chip cookies. We loved the sun room and especially the wrap-around deck. Having coffee in the morning on the deck or in the sun room was a plus. The Chapel was really quiet as well. We had one rainy day and we read books, played games, made a fire in the woodstove(cool and damp) which was awesome. They have cable and movies but we rarely watched T.V. My father-in-law found a good book to read as he had finished the one he brought. We also liked having the gas grill for cooking our meals. King Phillips Trail was a plus for me as I ran a few days during our stay in the morning and walked in the evening. It's a narrow road with curves so you just have to be careful, fortunately, there wasn't much traffic. Ocean Point is not to be missed, climbing rocks and yes the sunset is spectacular!! We did travel to Popham Beach, Pemaquid and Camden to Mt. Battie but it was always nice coming home to The Chapel. We would stay here again easily upon returning to Boothbay and I have already shared this beautiful, unique place with family and friends!
My family has vacationed at Linekin Chapel twice now. We plan to make the trip yearly to Boothbay to see my sister, and we will never stay anywhere else. Jason and Kristin have created the most welcoming, well-stocked, and comfortable rental imaginable. You will probably be out and about visiting some of the most beautiful places in Maine, but if you are stuck inside on a rainy day you'll find games, books, movies, cable. The kitchen has everything you will need. We always prepare a lobster dinner and eat it on the deck. The ocean point loop is a nice walk. The chapel is just so beautiful and unique. There is nothing else like it!
Though I wish that this place would remain a secret so that I could get last-minute reservations here, I feel like I have to shout abbout how great it is! This place is wonderful. The owners are kind and accomodating. The interior space is great - comfortable, high-end and lots of amenities. The home's location, though a ways to the water, is easy to get to and within a good distance of nice biking and walking. The area is fabulous, we biked, kayaked, whale watched, beach combed, held starfish at the aquarium, and there was still more to do. So I will end the way I started - Wow!
Our family stayed here for a week in August. The charming chapel is very clean and comfortable. There is a lot of seating, a well stocked kitchen and many games for our 6 and 8 year old children. Jason and Kristin are very helpful - they sent us a packet of information on the area prior to arrival, which was great for doing some advance planning. They also made an effort with wonderful extras like fresh flowers, snack mix and a lovely fresh fruit and cheese platter - what a nice treat after a long drive to Maine! Boothbay has many activities from which to choose including the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the Railway Village, kayaking, biking and hiking. We had some delicious meals as well - we loved the lobster rolls at the Lobster Dock, sandwiches at the General Store and ice cream at the Downeast Ice Cream Factory. We would gladly return to the area and to the chapel for another summer vacation.
We just returned to Ct. After a week at the pink and purple chapel. We brought the first children to spend time there...and they loved it! And there were so many areas to love. The home is fully furnished to accommodate every desire. There were toys, games, bikes, to keep them amused. We big folk admired the decor , the comfortable beds and the well stocked kitchen. The area offered trails, rocks, and the most glorious sunsets. We certainly hope to return. Thanks for sharing your wonderful place.
I am a planner, and had reserved the Chapel for my husbands and my first visit to Maine in January. Jason and Kristin, the owners, were outstanding in the service they provided. They were so good about sending updated information about the area to us. Twice I received parcels full of all sorts of area magazines, maps, and brochures. Their customer service was stellar! I spent 6 months anticipating our trip to Boothbay Harbor, and I was not disappointed. The little Chapel was just as it appeared online. The Chapel itself and the landscaping are just magnificent. Upon entering the home, we were just amazed...it's beautiful inside. The sun filtering in through all of the stained glass, and the beautifully restored hardwood floors and the wonderful furnishings were all I could have dreamed of! The home was incredibly clean, and well cared for. We chose to sleep in the blue room and the mattress and the bedding was like sleeping on a cloud. The Chapel had, literally, everything you would need for your stay. The kitchen had every appliance and utensil one would ever need. There were games and beach towels and bikes and a canoe! We didn't want for a thing. We were quite happy that we stayed in East Boothbay. The drive to Boothbay Harbor and all of the attractions are all scenic and 10-15 minutes. It was nice to go to Boothbay Harbor and enjoy the restaurants and shops, but at the day's end, it was so nice to be back in the Chapel with the peace and quiet. We took advantage of the Linekin Trust Preserve just behind the Chapel ~ it's quite a hike, but so worth it as you get to meander through the hardwood forests and get a breathtaking view of the river below the cliffs. I cannot recommend the Chapel enough. Jason and Kristin truly went above and beyond what I have ever experienced from anyone to ensure we had a wonderful time in Boothbay. Their home is a work of art, yet at the same time, it is cozy and comfortable. My only regret is that we had to leave.
Jason and Kristin, the owners of the chapel, were perfect hosts, welcoming us with homemade treats, making us feel at home, and providing us with a lot of useful details about the area. The unique physical space of the chapel itself was a joy. The stained glass/slag glass windows are alive, changing with the slant and intensity of the sunlight, marking the passage of the day. The cut flowers, the impeccable cleanliness, and the comfortable furniture contributed to our sense of being in a romantic getaway. The layout is also terrific – there are good clusters of furniture in the main room, the bedrooms are beautiful, the kitchen works perfectly, the sunroom is great for its outside feel. Phil ands Sook
