Nestled in the quaking aspens, this log cabin is one of a kind. The cabin is next to Hyatt Lake, and is surrounded by alpine meadows. Please inquire as to the lake level, as it has been at record low levels due to dam maintenance. During the winter months, Hyatt Lake is a winter wonderland with a developed sledding hill with bathrooms, warming hut and fire pit. During the summer months, there is fishing, biking, hiking, and many outdoor activities. The PCT is 3 miles away. The home is located 35 minutes out of town. Ashland is home to the Shakespeare Festivals and other wonderful events. The adjacent cottage is also available for an additional $75 per night plus cleaning. This has a queen bed, bathroom, and gas fireplace. Simply advise us if you request this cottage, and we will adjust the amount total. Thanks!
Pets must be paid for please. Otherwise it will be deducted from the deposit. Thank you for understanding. More than one dog must be pre-approved.
Super cozy and beautiful spot
Such a beautiful stay with some unexpected snow. Overall such a delight. I would be sure to check the specific location's weather due to elevation change.
We had a very relaxing time at this beautiful property. The house has a wonderfully warm feel and was well stocked with everything we could need, kitchen included. The owner was very helpful to answer questions before the visit, and we had no need for any help during the stay. Definitely want to come back in the summer!
Such a treat to find this spacious cabin so near trails in the National Forest! For a few days in early March, we sledded on a nearby hill, walked and skied trails in the forest and on the lakeshore, and generally enjoyed the snow. The cabin has a good kitchen, comfortable beds, dramatic fireplace and a claw foot tub! The back porch gets the morning light. If you run out of some necessity, the store at Hyatt Lake Resort is 1.5 miles away. I hope we can come back.
Just spent four wonderful nights with my partner and my adult kids and their partners. The pictures don’t do the home justice. It’s the quintessential mountain log home one thinks about when considering where to book a vacation. The home is incredibly cozy with just the right amount of modern conveniences (heated floors for the win!) and had every amenity anyone could need. The large river rock wood fireplace is simply sublime, as is the view of the lake and from the huge living room windows. Communication with the host was prompt and courteous. We’ve stayed at Hyatt Lake several times over the years and simply love it in any season. Ashland and everything it offers is a short and beautiful 35 min drive, but Hyatt Lake feels like a thousand miles from city lights and sounds. Also highly recommend (in Winter) the sledding hill that’s a two minute drive from the property - we had it to ourselves and had a blast! Will definitely be back again and can’t recommend this property enough!
We had a great stay over the Christmas holiday. This cabin was perfect! There was everything we needed for making the Christmas meal. The big table fit everyone. There were plenty of sleeping space for the whole family. We took off from the back patio to snowshoe. The heated floors were a nice touch and the fireplace was super cozy. We would absolutely stay again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We came to Ashland so the kids could go snowboarding. The weather cooperated and we had a great time. The cabin had everything we needed. Well stocked kitchen with many things we didn’t expect and were glad they were there.
The house had everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving dinner which we ate at the expansive dining table with a beautiful view of the snow and the fields and forest. Warm floors and proximity to a great sledding area were our favorite parts. We walked every day out to the lake on the walking path and had an outdoor bonfire in the firepit. The only downside was how much sound carried in the house when some of us were still asleep and others were awake in the living area. Definitely recommend this house.
I want to preface all of this by saying that my wife and I were discussing afterwards how this listing got all of the details right. Heated floors, fire pit in the back, three one-person bedrooms (including the lodge) and a ton of extra beds upstairs. The kitchen is amazing and was stocked with necessities (spices, oil, coffee/filters), the couches in the living room were cozy and the wood aesthetic was crazy beautiful. We had neighbors nearby, but not too close and the views of the stars were beautiful because there were almost no lights anywhere nearby. It got cold at night, but the house had so many nice touches to keep it warm (lots of heaters, fireplaces etc.) There were three big issues with the house though: 1) Hyatt Lake had dried up. I don't blame Oregon's drought on the owners of the house, but this was one of the main factors that led to us choosing this house and there was no lake to speak of. We would have stayed near Lake of the Woods (a naturally fed lake, not a reservoir) had we known Hyatt Lake was an empty basin. This wasn't said anywhere, though they changed the title to Prairie House from Lake House in the listing - though they make mention of the lake multiple times in the description, including things like Waterfront Lake View and Lake in the description. 2) There's no reception there - which is fine, we wanted some time away, but the wifi didn't work after the first day. They have a Roku to watch Netflix if we wanted to watch a movie at the end of the night, but the wifi signal could barely load Google Maps when we wanted to travel around the area. We surmised that maybe the owners had a data cap that had been hit (my brother arrived the night before and watched 2/3 of a movie on Netflix). Either way, the smart TV was a tease if they don't have enough data to power it. 3) The gas-powered grill in the back took a long time to warm up and didn't get hot enough to cook the food. I have a similar grill and after 20 minutes of it not warming up, I just cooked inside and bring food outside after. We had planned to spend a lot of time outside so we didn't have to wear masks the whole time while we visited with family, so the Lake and the grill were two important pieces of that equation. Missing out on both of these pieces meant we were forced to travel to Ashland (30 mins away) or to other locations in the area. We had planned on doing both anyway, but we hoped for a Lake day at the house.
It's very unfortunate that we stayed here. We payed a hefty amount of 165 for cleaning initially. Also when we check-in, we see a book which has at least 6-7 rules for checking out. We took care of everything he had mentioned-- segregating trash, setting temper . Suddenly, after 8 days of us checking out. He charges us 50 more bucks for cleaning. We tried to talk it out but he became ruder. Would you expect to go to a stay where when you leave you are not expected to leave any traces of your existence there ?
We look forward to visiting again in the near future, truly peace on earth.
We absolutely loved our time out at this property. My parents drove down from seattle and us up from SF for a half way hangout point. The space was clean, well stocked and spacious. We rented the extra cabin space upon arrival for our little one (just turned one) to be able to have a quiet space away from the loud adults during nap times. We loved sitting outside to watch sunsets and cook dinners on the grill. David was incredibly responsive and helpful! We would stay again in a heart beat.
My wife and I just got back from spending a week in this beautiful cabin. The property is wonderful. The cabin is well appointed, clean, and stays cool even on the warmest of days. Lot's of stuff to do in and around the cabin. We brought our chocolate lab with us and he had a wonderful time making fun with the local dogs, Jackson and Xena, who visited us on a daily basis. We would definitely come back again!!
What a wonderful property. Located on the shore of Hyatt Prairie Lake, the lodge is all that you would want in beautiful Southern Oregon. The property is conveniently located to Ashland, Medford, and Klamath Falls. The lodge is stellar in design and could easily accommodate an intimate getaway or a large family gathering. Although there were only three of us, we opted to rent the attached cottage as ell as the lodge and we had plenty of space to spread out and spend some alone time as well as group time cooking together and playing games. The kitchen was well-stocked, bedding was comfortable and overall the home was spotlessly clean. A short stroll is all it took to get to the lake and even though the water level was a record low, it didn't matter to us. We were there in August and I can imagine in the winter it would be extra special watching the snowfall in the generous sized lot. The hosts were very receptive and friendly and we were provided with everything we needed. I highly recommend staying here.
It is easily the best property I ever stayed in. Great cabin with all the amenities you need or did not think you may need. From full kitchen and grill down to a set of binoculars for bird watching and a volleyball net. Decorations are top notch too. The only bummer was that the reservoir was almost fully drained, but there are plenty of other lakes in the area.
It was great, cozy, amazing area, and so relaxing. If you like trees, lakes, rivers, and wildlife this is your place.
We had a wonderful time at this property. It was clean and very comfortable. The location was fantastic (although you are a bit closer to some of the neighbors than the pictures appear to be). The host was very helpful and quick to respond. We loved our daily visitors from the hounds next door. There are hiking trails very close by and a little restaurant up the road. Unfortunately, the two lakes that are very near to the property were very low. (I can only imagine how it is when the lakes are full and you walk out your backyard and have lake access steps away!) But there are many options maybe 30/45 min away. Overall, fantastic getaway and we would highly recommend!
My family and I had a wonderful stay. The house was perfect and really well stocked. The location was beautiful but it took some time to drive up to the house. Some planning ahead. It was a perfect first visit to Oregon. Thank you David!
We had a great time at the Hyatt Prairie Mountain Cabin. The place was very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. We wished that the lake level was higher but we made do! The owners were very attentive and easy to connect with and we would come back in the future.
Perfect getaway with tons of outdoor activities.
Pictures don’t do it justice. Owners are prompt to reply and friendly. Neighbor dogs Zina and Jackson stopped by for a visit and played with our dog Milo (all hounds!) We felt so at home, it’s like we moved in. Doesn’t seem like it at first but there really is so much to do at the cabin and the surrounding area. Totally worth it. So grateful we could spend time at such a special place.
This was a beautiful and peaceful place that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The cabin was very clean and we were provided with everything we needed for our stay. The owners were great and communicated very well with us. We would definitely book this cabin again! Thank you so much!!
We really enjoyed this house and found it to be well-stocked, comfortable, and in a lovely setting. The hosts could not have been more friendly and were responsive to our needs right away. Here are a few tips if you want to rent this place: 1. The location looks very remote but you are, in fact, right next to neighbors. Dogs are welcome and we had a tiny little dog who loved the yard and walk out to the water; however, there are other dogs in the area who cruise through the property regularly. If your dog doesn't get along with other dogs, you should know this. The other dogs are friendly and are frequent visitors. 2. The drive to Ashland is significant - 35-60 minutes depending on if you get behind slow cars. 3. Birds. There are a lot of swallows and other birds. While the owners have done their best to keep the swallows from overtaking the house, there are lots of nests. We happened to love seeing the baby swallows, finches, robins, and several birds of prey from the back yard but if you don't like birds, then you might not be as enthusiastic. We happened to enjoy every minute. 4. Hiking is everywhere and really close by! Fantastic trails with very little time to get to them. 5. Wifi is - well - mountain wifi. We brought our own HDMI cable and were able to stream news from our computers as needed. The wifi is fine for checking emails or basics but not for anything else. After all, you are in the mountains. 6. Beds are comfy, everything is clean, plenty of supplies, games, hot water, fireplace, etc. 7. This would be a very fun place for a small family reunion and we would rent again for sure.
Homeowners made everything a breeze with great communication. Beautiful area and a great house! We had a wonderful time! Thank you
We rented this cabin because it was the half way point between our house and our kids house and my brother and his wife joined us from Grant's Pass. The cabin is great and our family said the cabin would be perfect for their extended family gatherings. Just to clarify the cleanliness grade on the survey, it was because of bird poo. There are a lot of birds nesting and they are messy. The owners explained it is better to have the birds than the mosquitos. I'm guessing this is not a tr round problem and it's not a big problem. The area is beautiful, we had snow, rain and sun shine sometimes all at once. Dave and Koreen the new owners, are great, very helpful and easy to talk to. If you are looking to rent from VRBO in the Ashland area, this is the cabin for your family retreat. Cathy M.
