Healoha Hale: Watch the Sun Rise Over the Breaking Waves from Your Bed!

Anahola, Hawaii

Healoha Hale... TVNCU #5066...TAT# TA-172-691-4560-01

Healoha Hale is just what its name implies, "a beloved home." Decorated as a home, not a rental; it will feel like home the minute you walk in!

The waves of Aliomanu Bay are tamed by an off-shore reef so swimming can usually be enjoyed while the song of the surf and the off-shore breezes will relax you and cool this incredible plantation-style home.

The house consists of a great room with 20+ foot ceilings done in beautiful dark wood and open beams. This is the heart of the house where the extensively appointed kitchen and large dining area will accent the family fun around the comfortable furnishings of living and sitting areas.

Appropriately themed art work throughout the house adds to the "aloha" feeling. To one side of the great room you will find the sumptuous master suite decorated in jewel tones to accent the rich wood of the ceilings.

There is a glass block trimmed, double-sink bathroom en suite with a tub so deep you will have to struggle to keep your book dry! The king-size, Tempur-pedic mattress will soothe you at night as you lie in bed enjoying the moonrise through the sliding glass doors to the lanai.

On the other side of the great room, the front bedroom boasts a queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress. Sunrise and moon rise and ocean view also available from this comfortable room.

Between it and the back bedroom, another full bath provides the second deep, soaking tub.

The third bedroom has a pair of twin beds and is decorated with posters from the many movies filmed on Kauai. This bedroom also has a bath en suite with a large, walk-in shower.

The large lanai stretches across the front of the house and provides a magnificent view of the ocean and whales in season. The wonderful landscaping provides privacy from this secluded beach and there is a gate to the sandy oceanfront less than 80 feet from the door!

The yard of Healoha Hale is a tropical park. Seems like something is always in bloom from the huge plumeria to orchids and many exotic palms.

From the street side, you have wonderful views of the Anahola mountains, a nice lawn for bocci ball and a peaceful place to barbecue.

There are two outside showers for after swimming or just for fun. One is a custom-built lava rock shower and both have hot and cold water.

Healoha Hale is a short drive to Kapa'a where restaurants, groceries and shopping are readily available. It is less than a 30-minute drive to the airport and conveniently located to drive north to the Hanalei area or south towards Poipu.

The owners rented homes on Kauai for many years before settling on this wonderful location and unsurpassed home. They knew that this was "the one" as soon as they saw it and they think you will agree! Mahalo!

LATE BREAKING NEWS! In the August 2009 Sunset Magazine, Aliomanu Beach was one of the Top 10 reader-picked beaches.

We absolutely loved our stay at Healoha Hale in Anahole. The home was a perfect place for us to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, beautifully designed and furnished, serene, with every amenity we could ask for and more. We renewed our vows on the lanai with the bay in the background. Perfect. Mahalo, Michael Link and Lisa Liszcz

We so enjoyed our stay! The house, the yards, and amenities were all we expected and more! It is so refreshing to sit on the lanai and watch the sunrise and sunsets, to listen to the surf, stroll along the beach and enjoy the lush landscape. The beds were very comfortable. We have stayed in many different places and to some degree usually disappointed. Not here! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise!

The whole family enjoyed Healoha Hale! The house was cool with high ceilings and fans. We enjoyed watching the sun rise every morning and walking on the beach. We even saw a seal lying on the beach! The location was perfectly situated between Lihue and Hanalei. Once the traffic was very backed up in the Kapaa direction so we quickly changed plans to head up to Hanalei. Great stay!

A beautiful home and amazing location!

The home is amazing and the beach is fantastic. Everything you need to feel right at home. Had a ballistic missile threat happen upon waking which made for a bit of a delay in getting our act together in the morning but it was denounced and we will live to see another day! But great stay none the less.

This house epitomizes Hawaii .the ocean views, the space and decor, the quiet local culture-every time we went somewhere , we could hardly wait to come "home. We had three calm water days and never left. The other three were rough. We swam but no paddling.. the location is perfect, and we went to hanalei many times. For our family of six, this house was perfect. Also, the property management company was great in getting us fans and fixing a smoke detector. It was roomy, great lanai, and a relaxing treasure.

This property is exceptional! It is tucked away down a side road so we were away from it all and literally steps from what seemed like our own beach! The home was very clean and all kitchen items nicely organized. It felt homey and not at all like a rental. The landscaping was wonderful and we were not far from the activities recommended by owner Christine. It was our first trip to Hawaii and we would love to return.

Beautiful property!!! It was a wonderful way to experience Kauai... Thank you!

My wife wanted a house on the water and I think we picked the perfect house. The house is beautiful, clean & comfortable. It is 20 steps to the sand and 20 more to the water. We spent many an hour relaxing on the beach, lanai and in the living room. The house has everything you will need and then some. We didn't want to leave! Very nicely decorated but homey. If you've always wanted to have the beach at your back door, this is the place.

This by far was our favorite vacation rental property and we have vacationed all over the country! We love to cook and found the kitchen is very well equiped. All of the positive reviews are spot on! The owners are very attentive to details and respond quickly to emails. The art in the home was so amazing! We stumbled upon the art gallery Aloha Images in Kapaa that sells all the artists that hang in this amazing home. We purchased several pieces from Stu that allowed us to bring part of Kauii home with us. We highly recommend visiting Stu at Aloha Images in Kapaa!! Great home, great energy, great location, great accommodations and really comfy beds!! Thanks Cris for sharing your home with us!!

Much has been said in the previous reviews, and I agree with what was posted. So, I'll just add a few things that might help you make a decision or in your planning. We brought all our snorkeling gear, but that was totally unnecessary. The closet in the laundry area is well-stocked with boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkels, masks, flippers, beach toys, and even a cooler and umbrella - basically everything you'd need to relax on the beach. I rented a longboard in Hanalei, but the waves were breaking nicely here in Anahola bay so I didn't surf anywhere else. Of course, wave conditions change throughout the year, but while we were here, low tide brought waist-high waves to the bay a few hundred yards to the right of the backyard every morning, and high tide brought in decent rides straight out on the reef. It was also a perfect place for our kids to explore. Down the beach to the right is a river mouth and lagoon that changes with the tide. Our girls played there every day. On weekdays, they had it pretty much all to themselves. On the weekend, lots of people visit that area, so our kids made lots of friends, but the home is far enough away to still have privacy, even when the bay is crowded. The reef protects the beach from the big pounding beach break, so it was perfect for us to let our girls explore and swim to their hearts content. The house and location was perfect. It was exactly what I hoped.

A huge thanks to Cris and Kauai Vacation Rentals for making our vacation so memorable at Halealoha Hale. There are not words to describe how perfect this home is and how much we hated to leave! We could not have asked for anything more perfect with the semi-private beach right off the deck and convenience of being able to walk just a few steps to the ocean. It was so nice to be able to wake up to the sound of it every morning and walk out the front door to see and smell the plumeria tree in full bloom. We've been to Kauii a few times, but this has been our favorite place to stay, hands down. We hope to be able to return soon and bring friends along next time!

We were two couples celebrating gratitude & blessings, and this home was perfect. We all tried to get the best photos of the awesome sunrise. The area is quiet away from crowds, yet not far to shop. The owners attention to details of guest comforts is exceptional. We enjoyed making our version of Moco Loco in the well equipped kitchen. The home is very clean & maintained, which is not easy on a beach. Time on the deck was beautiful as well as the mountain view on the front porch, and lots of beach walks. The water is very nice & great for a swim. All the reviews say it well. The photos are all great of this home it is very comfortable. The outdoor showers, very nice (gets all the sand off) one can even shower under the stars! Mahalo, it was a great time hope to return

We couldn't have asked for anything more. Everything was fabulous. From the house to the scenery and the weather. The house worked out perfectly for the 6 of us. It was so nice to be able to come home to the house after sight seeing all day instead of a hotel room. To be able to just relax and listen to the waves and see them right out every window on the entire back side of the house is just amazing. The yard is so beautiful and private. It was nice to be centrally located so it wasn't a long drive to the south or north side of the island. The plumeria tree in the front yard will always be a special place to me being while we were there I was proposed to under the tree. The house was everything the pictures show and much more. You feel like you have your very own private tropical paradise. I would definately stay there again. All 6 of us were very pleased with out time there and it was a very sad day when we had to leave. Thank you so much for opening up your beautiful home on Kauai to us.

We have rented many houses on Kauai over the years and this house we rate the best over all. The following is what I look for in a rental house on the island. If you come close to matching, this is the house for you. 1) If I am traveling all the way to Kauai I want to not only see the ocean, but hear it, smell it, taste it and of course swim in it. The beach is as close as it can get and the sounds of the surf lull you to sleep at night. The positioning of the house is perfect with big sliding doors opening up on to the deck and allowing the breeze to blow through plus the perfect view and the sounds of the birds (not as many chickens here) and the waves. Note: close the sliding doors when it rains, the wind blows the water in and gets the floors wet. The water is swim-able which is tricky to find on the island. There are waves to bounce in but are not going to slam you in to the sand. Watch the current, but otherwise wonderful. There is a lagoon just down the beach for the little ones. 2) Absolute privacy. If I wanted to sit in a chair on a crowded beach I'd stay at a resort. At this house you can have private conversations and private time, not a soul can hear or see you. Leave the curtains open! Very few people stroll the beach which lays behind a perfectly tall hedge. The driveway access is even off the road and private on a dead end and very peaceful street. No street lights or power wires obstructing your view. The view out the kitchen window of the mountains is lovely. 3) Clean and comfortable. Modern yet Hawaii chic. Some houses we have rented have been plagued by a never ending parade of tropical bugs and crawly creatures. Somehow this is kept to a minimum. The Temperpedic mattress in the main bedroom is fabulous and is always what I miss most about my home...besides the dogs....and the kids. Kitchen is well stocked, lots of fluffy bath towels, beach towels, bring your own shampoo. 4) Location and size of house, close to everything. Nicely positioned between the possible destinations on the island. House is open design and perfect for family or other couples...except the 2 twin beds in one room, which can probably be pushed together for an adult couple. 5) This is the 2nd home that we have rented through the Hawaii Vacation Rentals agency and they are very professional and thorough and make everything about the process easy. Now that I have talked you in to this great house, please leave room on the calendar for our return.

Still here as I write this review with a magnificent sunrise this morning. We have rented many ocean front properties over the years, but this home is beyond expectations. In addition to comments from others below, the attention to detail is amazing and the furnishings first class (no plastic chairs, no rusty appliances here). To my husband's delight, the grill is clean and works. To my delight, the windows are spotless. TV and Internet work, which has not always been the case in other rentals. I bought coffee beans by mistake, and low and behold, the house is so well equipped, there is even a grinder. Enough said. We will be back.

My family stayed at this house dec 28/12 to jan 4/13. The only bad thing I can say was we had to go home after the week. This house was beautiful. Although the pictures are great they really don't do the home justice. We have 4 kids ages 15 to 8. Each of them loved it. The house location is great. Quite and secluded yet so easy to go exploring both north and south, which we did and loved!!! We also loved staying at the house. The beach right out the back door was amazing. The kids had so much fun bogie boarding and building sand castles. The sun rises were postcard perfect each morning!! The yard was beautifully maintained, and the two outside showers were a added treat!! I would highly recommend this house to any family coming to Kauai!!

This was a week in paradise with our family which included our daughters, their husbands, and my husband and I. Kauai is our favorite island and we had never explored this bay where your beautiful house is. Everyone loved the huge kitchen where a number of us could be working and/or getting nourishment and never be in the way of the other. We loved having a wonderful gas grill and lots of beach toys, especially the boogey boards. We so appreciated how clean everything was and the open space made for easy flow of foot traffic. The zipline experience is a must do event near Princeville which is better than the another one on the island. We hated to leave your beautiful home with the gorgeous setting and beach that goes on forever. Snorkeling and boogie boarding were just walks away. The four adult kids had fun paddle boarding on the Waimea River where one can rent the boards and walk to the river. This was our first time to rent a house and it was the best experience possible. It will be hard to rent a condo after this most memorable week in paradise. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home.

We spent the week of Aug11 - Aug 18 at this property in Anahola, Kauai. We had a wonderful time. The house is very comfortable and has all the amenities necessary. The location is great for getting to all parts of the island, which we did. It is close to the town of Kapaa which is quaint and has nice shops and restaurants. The view from the back of the house is lovely and will remain as my "happy place" when the winter sets in here in New England. The beach behind the house is pretty and quiet and the sunrise is gorgeous. We enjoyed breakfast at Ono's and a wonderful dinner at the Hukilau Lanai. This was truly a fantastic place to vacation!

The front and back yards are a tropical oasis yet there is lots of room for the kids to run. All so perfectly kept. Then just steps off the large front lanaei is the beach. Sunrises, whale watching, moon and star gazing, sand crab hunting at night or just sit back and let the ocean sounds move you. Unforgettable. And the lava shower is unreal!

The listing description and pictures do not even do justice to how wonderful the property is. The house was perfectly maintained and extremely clean and comfortable. We would highly recommend this beach home to anyone. It is perfect for all ages!

I just returned with my family of 5 from a lovely stay at Healoha Hale. The home and the setting were every bit as beautiful as the photos promise. The beach, just steps from the porch, was great for snorkeling, boogie-boarding, swimming and walking. The stretch of bay where the house is located is very quiet, and the house and gardens very private, with the exception of the occasional chicken or gecko. The home is beautifully appointed and very clean. I loved cooking in the expansive kitchen while looking out at the ocean, and going to sleep to the sound of the waves. The house is very well stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, cooler, kitchen items, books and games. We all (my husband, myself and kids ranging from 11-19) loved our stay and hope to return some day!
