Gurnet Landing is an upscale, but comfortable bluff-side home where families and friends can gather for a true New England vacation experience. The secluded beach community of Gurnet Point consists of 42 homes and miles of unspoiled private beaches. After crossing the Nation's oldest wooden bridge via Duxbury, you venture four miles on a private beach road. When you arrive at The Gurnet you'll find quiet solitude and peaceful days amongst the hundreds of wild bunny rabbits, circling seagulls, beach seals lying on the rocks just 50 yards from the back door, and the occasional whale sighting. As you gaze out over the water, you'll want to take a moment to realize that four hundred years ago the Mayflower passed within one mile of where this house lies, and landed five miles away in Plymouth, creating the cradle of our democracy.
Spontaneous social gatherings and barbeques along the beaches with neighbors and friends are common. You can hike along the bluff and visit the oldest operating wooden lighthouse in the Country right next door, go biking on the beach roads, or hop on a boat in Boat Hole a hundred yards from the house. Gurnet Landing is about getting away from the typical congested vacation spots to enjoy a truly peaceful and safe environment. Although the house is on Cape Cod Bay, we're not on Cape Cod Peninsula (where the summer traffic is often overwhelming). We're about an hour from Boston. For perspective, crossing the Cape Cod Canal alone can take an hour. While the Cape is a lively tourist destination, Gurnet Point is oriented towards spending time with close friends and family on our private beaches away from it all.
This home is off-the-grid, but offers all of the amenities you’d find in suburbia; high-speed Internet, HD satellite television with surround sound, and home office facilities. All the furnishings, décor, and appliances are regularly updated and always show in new condition. The furniture is from the internationally renowned design firm, Setting the Space. All bedding and towels are replaced with new each year. Between each guest visit every dish, glass, piece of silver, pot and pan are removed from the cabinetry and hand washed and dried, ensuring that each new guest has 100% clean kitchenware. This same philosophy is applied to bathrooms, bedrooms, and all areas throughout the house.
The nearby village of Duxbury offers great dining in classic New England pubs and restaurants, and shopping in quaint small town stores. Just past Duxbury is the historic town of Plymouth where the pilgrims first landed. You can visit Plymouth Rock, step aboard the Mayflower II, and walk through the historic replicated village of Plimouth Plantation. There are also dozens of restaurants and antique stores, and three public golf course within ten miles of the house. But if there are people in your group who seek more action, just a few minutes farther brings you to Colony Place, The Grove, and Kingston Collection, which combined are one of the largest mall complexes in New England. Provincetown on Cape Cod is a 22 mile ferry ride from Plymouth Landing, the Bourne Bridge to Cape Cod is only fifteen minutes past the mall, and Boston is a short drive north.
When you arrive at Gurnet Landing you'll find a beautiful gift basket with gourmet goodies, local wines, and other surprises. You'll also see an ice cream maker on the kitchen counter with all the ingredients in the fridge for making delicious homemade ice cream, including milk, cream, cones, sprinkles, even chocolate, peanut butter, and toffee chips. And of course all the basics are included from paper products to luxury soaps and shampoos, bottled water, and a pantry full of the necessities. All you need to bring is food, beverages, and a desire to have fun and relax. So whether you're looking for total privacy, or a combination of solitude mixed with some urban fun, Gurnet Landing is a unique and restful launching pad for all.
The house is on a septic tank, and the pump out schedule is based on the number of people/day, so it's critical that the 12 person max isn't violated!
This was one of the best properties we have ever stayed at. The views were spectacular. We had a water view from every window of the house, but the most amazing view by far was from the master bedroom. We watched the seals basking on the rocks every sunset! Kent was a great host. He was extremely responsive and made sure we had a smooth stay. We would high recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Cape Cod.
Due to this crazy year with the pandemic of Covid-19, we had to cancel our initial family vacation. The last 6 months have been very different from our normal hustle and bustle. We were all tired of sitting around and being unable to truly enjoy our summer. So we decided to say screw it, we are going to enjoy a little getaway. We came across Kent's listing and all fell in love with it. The house was beautiful. As well as the view. It was not only my husband, our 2 children and myself. My parents even came as well as my brother and sister-in-law. Although missing members who were off to college, we all enjoyed a quiet and relaxing vacation. Thank you for allowing us to feel somewhat normal during these crazy times.
We were very surprised to find a beach property that is a standard beyond most others. Between the view, the quality of the house furnishings (and stocked with all essentials), and a beach that in the height of August is remote and not busy. It checked all the boxes that we wanted. Kent is a great host, and Scott the manager very helpful and responsive. The neighborhood is great, people are friendly, and we felt welcome there with our kids and dog. We very much look forward to a return visit!
A tropical storm with 40+ mph winds only added to the fun of staying at Gurnet Landing as we watched the sea raging from the safety of this welcoming, well stocked, and comfortable house. Our other days were beautifully sunny and filled with walking on the white sand beaches, kayaking in the tidal rivers and bike riding along paths with friendly neighbors and curious rabbits. We especially loved watching all the seals from the back porch and going beach combing as the tide went out. Also, this was the first time we’d traveled with our dog and it couldn’t have been easier. He loved the near-constant sea breezes and dog-friendly beaches just a quick stroll away.
The house is beautifully appointed. The location is more appropriate for adults; beach is difficult to access and even though it is stated that 4 wheel drive vehicles are “allowed”, ATV are not! Resident neighbors vigilantly monitor activities of renters.
We planned a getaway for our family and another family that is very close to us for two weeks at this property. The property itself is lovely - it's relatively new and tastefully furnished. We especially loved the breeze and the double french doors on the first and second floors. Only a short walk to the beach and the scenic lighthouse. The owners are very accommodating, thorough, and thoughtful. So many little details made our stay easier, from extra towels to spices and condiments (and coffee!) already there for us to use. There were a couple of small issues but the owner/manager were very available and the issues were resolved immediately and cheerfully. We'd highly recommend the property, and even more so the owners. Thank you for making our stay delightful!
A great house to get away from it all. The house has everything you would want and the owners are very attentive to any needs. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
This is an amazing place. The views are incredible. You can see the sunset from the house. The sunrise on the Cape Cod Bay beach is the best I have ever seen. There is a small beach next to the house we parked one of our four wheel drive vehicles at. It was also I nice place to walk to. The best beach is the Cape Cod Bay beach. Just a short walk down the road to the guard shack. There is a path that takes you the most amazing beach. Why is it so amazing just imagine the best beach you have ever been on. Endless white sand ocean waves crashing on the shore and for us no one else on the beach. The water was crystal clear a little chilly but beautiful. The fishing here on this beach is also very good for Striped Bass. The house we cannot say enough good things about this amazing property. The house and location is breathtaking. Each of us felt a sense of awe as we walked in the door because the furnishings and decor made us feel at home. The house was so well stocked with basic things to cook with shampoos, first aid items and so much more. We didn’t need to use it but the propane fireplaces make this house a great place to rent in the off season too. We had plenty of room for our large party 9 adults and two children. There were many games for adults and children. Kent was incredibly fast to respond for the couple of questions that we had. I didn’t meet a neighbor I didn’t like. They were all very friendly and had some nice conversations with a few of them. We will definitely be here again in the future.
A great place for our family reunion. The home came fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. Very clean and a grade A+ property.
We had such an amazing family vacation here! Beautiful location and great house with everything we could possibly need. From ice cream machine, bikes, lobster pots, canoe-it had lots of extras. Plenty of space for our 3 families. Kids loved it too! Kent was great and always prompt with replying to any questions we had when we were at the house. Highly recommend this house for a wonderful summer vacation!
My multigenerational family had a wonderful week at Gurnet Landing. A gorgeous view with a lovely beach nearby (which was practically private, during the weekdays). We loved our morning walks around the neighborhood, with lots of bunny-sighting, and along the water. Kent and Natalya are wonderful hosts -- everything was clean and neat. It truly felt like we were staying at a 5-star hotel. The house is a bit remote, with a very long dirt road to town, but it's fine if you plan around that. Highly recommended. Thank you!
This is a new (less than 10 yr old) property. The owner has taken extra steps in construction to keep the house mold-free, and a member of our party who is sensitive to mold had no problems! The house is beautiful, very clean, and very well-equipped. The views are amazing. The beach on the ocean side is a lovely, sandy, and never crowded while we were there the week of July 4. There are endangered plovers nesting there, and beach and road monitors protecting them. While this limits driving and bicycling (and other uses at higher tide), our group was happy to support the recovery of an endangered bird species. I learned a lot from talking to the monitors and even got to see some plover chicks and adults. I only have a couple of caveats: although it's not totally clear, the only land you're allowed to use on the side of the house where you park is the actual parking area, one car wide (you can park three cars as noted). Don't walk or play on the lawn beyond the posts! We did enjoy our stay and would especially recommend it for a quiet getaway. There is every kind of cooking equipment you could imagine, and many of us like to cook, so that was appreciated. The ocean breezes are lovely and kept us cool, and the lighthouse is a great spot to enjoy some history and watch the sunset.
We spent 9 days at Gurnet Point celebrating a 70th birthday and three generations of family. My husband had requested his family and water views and that is what he got. 360 degree water views with seals, birds and boats. A gorgeous lighthouse and a powerful reminder of the beginning of our country. To look out on the bay and realize that the Mayflower passed in front of Gurnet Point was a very powerful image for me The house is beautifully appointed with every conceivable item that you could need. When we arrived we were greeted with so many thoughtful birthday touches. Kent's attention to detail is something above and beyond. Garnet Point is definitely a wonderful and unique location and anyone looking for a special vacation will not be disappointed.
Gurnet Landing is an extraordinary beach vacation. The home is situated on a bluff with 360 degree views of the bay and the ocean, room for family and friends, and really any amenity you could need for a fun-filled holiday... including bikes, pool table, ping pong, games, multiple TVs, exercise equipment, comfy large beds, luxurious ceiling fans ... even seals playing in water views and gorgeous sunsets. Gurnet/Saquish point is somewhat remote (4 mile dirt road access) but a treasure once arrived — and so well-appointed, you hardly need to leave unless you want to :) Owners Kent and Natalya are very responsive to any concern and really are inviting you to use (not just look at!!) all the beautiful accessories their home has to offer. Highly recommend and would stay again.
I stayed here for a week with my spouse and 3 kids. So many memories created! Where to begin- taking early morning walks on the beach, swimming, watching seals frolic in the surf, saying “hello” to the bunnies, sleeping with the windows open under a cool breeze, making ice cream, playing games, eating oysters, exploring the tide pools, soaking in the SPECTACULAR views.... We loved every moment at this place. This beach house itself is gorgeous. Kent and Natalya did an amazing job with this place. Neat design, extremely clean, very well appointed, with enough beds to sleep everyone. Within a few hundred feet, We had convenient access to two wonderful beaches with very different vibes- Duxbury beach is one of the best and most exclusive beaches in Mass. Fine sand, spectacular views, and everyday we saw more seals than people. Saquish beach with the (4WD) drive-on beach pass was a family-fun oriented experience as well. (No coolers or lugging chairs)! Just watch the tides :) If you are looking for something refined, spacious, located in a semi-secluded place, with nearly 360 degree water views, then this place is it. We can’t wait to come back.
Our family loved Gurnet Landing. It was the best family vacation ever! The home is immaculate, spacious, equipped with anything you can possible think of and more (harmonica, guitar, keyboard, fragrant soaps/shampoos/conditioners/lotions, binoculars, outdoor shower, grill, extra refrigerator, and pool table, to name a few of our favorites), beautiful decor, and the views from anywhere in the home our spectacular. When we walked into the master bedroom our jaws dropped. The king size bed faces the bay and has three sets of french doors that open to an outdoor deck. Of course that became grandma and grandpa's room. The grandchildren claimed the spacious third floor, which had a keyboard and television and lots of room to play. It is hard to find the words to describe in detail the beauty of the beaches. We spent the mornings on the bay side and the afternoons on the ocean side. It was like having our own private beach. We spent evenings at the lighthouse. The sunsets are beautiful. The attention put into the design of this home truly made it feel like home away from home. Kent was very accommodating and checked on us frequently to ensure we had everything we needed. If you are planning a family vacation that will be forever memorable, I highly recommend Gurnat Landing. The Phoenix Family
Staying at Gurnet Landing provided the perfect platform for relaxation away from the crowds. The size, layout, and choice of furnishings accommodated my large multi-generational group with ease. Not only was the house beautiful inside and out, but Kent's and Natalya's attention to detail made it especially pleasant. We were greeted with a welcome basket brimming with delicious treats and wine. There were fresh hydrangeas arranged in vases and baskets in the bathrooms full of luxurious soaps and lotions. Every detail for a week of beachy enjoyment was provided from soft towels to sand toys and body wash to laundry detergent. Even the entertainment for the couple of stormy weather days was already in place. The kids loved playing ping pong, doing puzzles, watching movies, and playing the provided games. While the adults enjoyed playing pool in the bright and welcoming basement or catching up after years apart. Most of the days the weather was warm and bright and we were able to venture out. It was only a short walk to the lighthouse and the large surrounding meadow where the kids were able to around freely. Another short walk led to the gorgeous, secluded beaches where we spent many hours unhindered by crowds. On days when we were feeling studious we visited the nearby Historic Plimoth Plantation and the Freedom Trail in Boston. When we were feeling adventurous we took a ferry into Provincetown. That one was entertaining, but there were a lot of creative explanations to be made for the children. Despite the bumpy beach road leading to the house, we found that whether we wanted to stay close or find an adventure there was always plenty to do within an easy distance. Now for practicalities: I was a little concerned about renting a house without A/C for the last week in July given that some of the nearby towns were starting to get muggy. However, the ocean breezes kept The Point and the house cool even when temps were in the 90s in the neighboring communities. Opening the windows let in the cool breezes and the soothing sound of the waves while screens kept all tiny, unwelcome friends out. Also, as others have said, having a four wheel/all wheel drive vehicle was helpful with the road between the bridge and the house. The taller clearance made me more comfortable, but with a little extra care my parents' rented minivan managed to clear the bumps just fine. All in all Gurnet Landing made for a flawless, cool, relaxing summer retreat.
This is a newly renovated home that is positioned uniquely on the water at Gurnet Point. The area is beautiful and the house accommodated our entire family and guests. The view is priceless. Every morning we had seals in the back yard. The house is a short walk to beaches on the both the bay and ocean. The house has a lot of extras from a BBQ grill to a canoe, bikes, beach chairs.... Kent has outfitted this place well. We would highly recommend the home and the experience.
We just completed a week at this beautiful seaside home. We made many great memories with our extended family - from time together on the beach to pool matches in the basement. This home had plenty of room and comfort for all of us. Our first impressions of this home was that is was a welcome oasis after a trek down a bumpy road. We continued to be impressed by all the details - the family beach/yard games in the basement, the binoculars, the AMAZING view from the master bedroom, the fireplace, the beach chairs, the stunning decor, the gas grill, and all the things that are so easy to take for granted but was thought out by this owner. This home is off the grid, but you could never tell - it has all the comforts of home. One piece of advice, if you are renting a vehicle, we were very glad to have an SUV or 4 wheel drive. We were able to drive on the beach and the roads weren't the best getting around the neighborhood. We enjoyed Saquish beach and it was wonderful to be able to drive on the beach with all the chairs, cooler, and games, (grandma, too). We are very thankful for our relaxing vacation and the beautiful home that was truly home away from home.
Gurnet landing was the perfect beach home for our family get-together. The views are incredible. Picture eating your breakfast on the porch while watching seals frolic in the waves just meters away. The home is spacious, pristine, and was fully equipped with anything we could possibly need during our stay and more (smart speakers, binoculars, games, luxury soaps and fluffy white robes and slippers). The kids had a blast sleeping all together up in the attic loft. They played out in the grassy field by the lighthouse, explored the tide pools, and of course got in several rounds of ping-pong in the basement. The beach (including our family favorite, Saquish) is just a short walk from the home. Natalya and Kent went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and were quick to respond to any inquiries. This is the perfect beach get-away home and we couldn't recommend it more highly!
A greaaaaat experience
