This is our second time staying here. We love the house and the location.
We had a wonderful fall weekend at FaLconhurst! It’s a unique property that our son loved! Great location for fishing and mountain biking. We had a few questions and Mark was quick to reply.
The view is incredible and the cabin is so unique.
We absolutely loved our stay! Such a fun house although that word doesn't do this little castle justice! Great views and so much amazing outdoor space! We will DEFINITELY be back!
Great experience, great property.
Wonderful location, unique home, private lake, very relaxing getaway. Really enjoyed using the pontoon and spending time on the lake. Thank you for sharing your home.
A wonderful place for our family vacation. Took many pontoon boat rides around the beautiful and peaceful lake. Falconhurst had everything we needed for a very enjoyable week. My only complaint was no recycling available for our cans and plastic.
Beautiful property on a beautiful lake. Plenty of space for a group of friends or family - both communal and more private spaces. We had a great time swimming, pontooning, relaxing and laughing with friends. We recommend!
we loved this place! Its unique and beautiful. Love the property and location on a small clean lake. Definitely recommend adding the pontoon. We swam and caught tons of sunnies! We would love to stay again in the future. Thank you!
We stayed here for a family vacation. The owners were great and accommodating and had great communication. The place does not have A/C- the first and last day we were there it got hot 93 degrees. Those days were a little rough but the owners provided many fans and if ypu open the windows it gets a great wind flow. The other days we had no problems- it was very comfortable. We loved how private the place was and didn't have to deal with neighbors. We rented the pontoon. I would reccomend that. The lake was so peaceful and we normally were the only ones om the lake. We kayaked and cannoed (provided with the rental). The house is very unique and fit all of us nicely. Everyone had their own space of they needed some alone time. It's on a pretty good hill so you get a workout going up and down from the lake. The only thing was we had younger kids and there wasn't a great swimming beach for them. The lake dropped off fast and was pretty deep. We found a great swimming beach in Crosby. It was a short 10- 15 minute drive there to take the kids swimming and to play on an amazing playground. The grounds weren't great for the little kids to go out and run around but we made do with games and things inside. Overall it was a good place for all of us to get together.
My family had a fabulous trip to Mark’s home. It is a very private location and very well kept. We really enjoyed the pontoon and how quiet the lake was. The decks and the views were spectacular. Fridge space was slightly limited for a large group, but that is an incredibly minor critique on an otherwise fantastic rental.
The only down side to our stay at Falconhurst was that it was too short. This was the most perfect setting for our family gathering, which included all of our own children, spouses and grandchildren. Everything was clean and organized, and the beds and pillows were super comfy. There was plenty of room to socialize and gather, and as someone who loves to cook, I have never been so impressed with a rental property kitchen -- nothing was lacking, even down to supplies such as ziploc bags and even parchment paper!! The lake itself was beyond perfect -- so quiet and peaceful, with crystal-clear water and hardly anyone ever on it beyond ourselves and maybe one other boat -- it was like our own private lake! Although it was a little warmer than usual, the lack of AC wasn't too much of an issue, as there were plenty of fans. We feel blessed to have discovered such a gem and hope to be back sometime in the future. Thank you for the wonderful memories!!
Our family loved this cabin getaway. It’s tucked away in the woods and surrounded by lakefront. The views are impeccable and there is so much privacy. The cabin layout and structure is very unique and feels like you are staying in a fairytale. The owner was very thorough and communicated promptly to any questions I had. We brought our children and there were plenty of beds and small child sized tables and chairs for them. Goldilocks would be pleased. The main deck is a good size for hosting meals, containing our adventurous toddler, and watching the sunset. Everything was clean and ready to go for our group. We rented the pontoon and the kids had a blast catching multiple Sunnys. We will definitely be back to this spot!
We had a wonderful time at Falconhurst. The main deck with the gas BBQ was perfect for all of us to enjoy meals together and the rooftop deck was a great getaway for 1,2 or three people to read, lounge, relax and enjoy fantastic views of the lake and countryside. The kids enjoyed the games inside and out that were provided, and we all loved getting out on the lake in the kayaks, canoe, and rented pontoon. Evenings roasting marshmallows at the fire pit so fun also. Great stay - thank you so much!
Lovely property on a small, quiet lake the we enjoyed exploring with the kayaks and pontoon. Only frustration was one shower for all guests- probably didn’t read description carefully enough. Very clean and thoughtfully furnished.
We had a great time. The home was beautiful and comfortable.
We enjoyed this cabin for a work retreat. The views of the lake are fabulous. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Marks lake property! Very relaxing. No neighbors around and wonderful weather to top it off. The cabin is so unique and relaxing to be at. Thanks for the phenomenal weekend, Mark!
Read the description well and review the pictures. Exactly as described and portrayed. Quiet little lake, fantastic serenity. We never left and enjoyed each others company with good old fashion fires, game nights, cooking, fishing, pontoon rides, kayak and canoe. Fully stocked kitchen dishes and appliances made all our cooking easy. Clean and unique.
fantastic place to get away plenty to do on the lake, yet close enough to other activities is so inclined
Every year my spouse and I host a family vacation for our adult kids and our grand children. Falcon Hurst provided a perfect place to play and enjoy time together. The weather was perfect. We loved the many boating and the terrific fishing. Evenings we gathered for yard games and sat by the fire.
Mark was a great host answering all of our questions before and during our stay. The home was very well furnished with the everyday items needed. We enjoyed the privacy of the location and the beautiful lake setting. The only negative about the home is that it could use a bathroom on the second level where a lot of the beds are. But it was only a small nuisance. Over all we had a great time and would look at renting the property again.
Great views, lots to do, rooms were large, unfortunately no air conditioning but lots of windows to open.
The cabin was great for 10 people. The location provided plenty of activities to keep us busy.
Our large, extended family had the best week making memories here. The pictures do not do this place justice. The property is absolutely beautiful, you feel secluded even though you’re surrounded by neighbors. If you’re able, rent the pontoon! We spent entire days fishing and swimming in the lake. The large windows through-out the house made for a truly scenic view. We will definitely be back! * The only ‘complaint’ I heard were that the beds were uncomfortable. A simple mattress top might help.
We especially enjoyed the multiple decks and sunroom with wonderful lake and wildlife views. The downstairs summer suite with separate entrance was great for the (spry) grandparents. If your group is ok with stairs and slopes, this location is ideal for lake and sky viewing.
WOW! Our family of 5 (three kids ages 15, 13 & 10) just enjoyed an amazing Memorial Day weekend at this charming and cozy cabin on Placid Lake. Set up and away from the water, it gave us a wonderful sense of privacy as well as the most delightful views from the abundance of large windows and sprawling decks. Absolutely everything has been thought through and was conveniently right at our fingertips (from a well supplied kitchen, pillow soft beds/blankets, stocked firewood and all the fun you can imagine outdoors with the pontoon, canoe and kayaks!). Super relaxing and a perfect family getaway! Thanks for your attention to detail which made our stay so great!
We stayed for a couple of nights to celebrate New Year in the cabin with friends. It is located in a very beautiful setting and is very cozy inside. The ponaramic windows gave great view of beautiful sunrise. We enjoyed spending time by fireplace, and loved that the cabin had sauna. There were plenty of towels and blankets to use. The kitchen is fully stocked as well and we had everything to make and serve New Years dinner. We got snowed in and Mark send a guy to plow the driveway and the way to the house by the end of the day! We had a couple of questions when we just arrived to the cabin and as we were leaving and Mark was just a call away. We greatly enjoyed our time there and would deffinetly recommend it to our friends. Would love to come back here to see how it looks in the summer time and spend more time in this beautiful cabin.
The house had a perfect view towards our holidays and the days were unforgettable! We had a view to the frozen sparkling lake which did make an impact on our vision. Also the beds were very comfortable and suitable for our family. It was a crucial and unique experience for us. Thank you!
Great cabin for a family vacation or holiday. I would definitely recommend this location, and would definitely stay here again in the future.
The property is set in a wonderfully secluded area on the lake. The views from the cabin are fantastic and the sunrise/sunsets from the deck on the roof are breathtaking. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for some time away on the lake.
Very unique home with “Eagles Nest” located on beautiful lake. The fall colors were spectacular and we enjoyed keeping the fireplace going in the living room. Conveniently located we were very pleased with the entire experience.
Let me start off by saying that this was exactly the experience I was looking for. I have three adult kids, the last of which has just graduated high school and is off to US Navy boot camp in a couple of weeks. My oldest is engaged to be married and the middle is starting college. I wanted an opportunity to get all of them together for a vacation to make memories and have some good bonding time before they all head off in different directions....not knowing when or if we'll ever get this opportunity again. Cue Falconhurst. The house is not only very nicely decorated inside, it is a really interesting piece of architecture. There were so many places for people tp spread out or come together to spend time. Multiple places to sit, relax and enjoy the lake scenery. The fishing was excellent! We caught tons of panfish, quite a few bass, northern, a couple of catfish and one day we hit into a nice mess of crappies. There are plenty of fish in the lake to be had and you can go almost anywhere to find them. It was really nice having the huge pontoon boat to go out in. When we had 7 or 8 people go out at the same time, there was plenty of room. All of the information you need is readily posted by the front door. Groceries and bait were only about 10 minutes away in Cross Lake. Plenty of dishes, pots & pans to cook meals with for a large group. I've seen previous reviews talk about not enough fans to circulate air, but they have addressed that and there are fans everywhere so no real need to bring any with you. While there is no A/C, that won't matter except for maybe a couple weeks mid-summer. But if you open the windows at night, there are excellent breezes that flow through the house as it sits high up on the hill. Which reminds me of something...you will get some exercise going back and forth from the house down to the lake. It's not far in distance, but there is a significant elevation change. :) The sunroom is beautiful and the two light fixtures are gorgeous. The room is surrounded with windows and a great view of the property and the lake. It's a fantastic place to spend time relaxing with a book or playing a game or two. We saw lots of wildlife too. Frogs, a huge snapping turtle and a bald eagle swooped down for a fish very near our boat one day while we were out fishing! Cool! Thank you so much for your hospitality and offering this gem to us, Mark and Kami. We highly recommend this offering to anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway!
Wow! What a spacious and amazing getaway! Although it was just the two of us, the cabin would be wonderful for a family or group. The lovely home has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and beds, and breathtaking views from multiple decks overlooking a peaceful lake. The first morning six deer passed through the property, stopping for a drink as an eagle perched on a tall pine nearby. We loved exploring the area and eating at great restaurants nearby, but wanted to spend as much time as possible enjoying the cabin, the pontoon, the firepit and the chipmunks. The internet connection supported my husband 's inability to unplug from work. This place has it all. Thanks, Mark and Kami for sharing your cabin - we will look forward to our next visit!
Awesome lake place - beautiful, quiet lake, lots of fish - saw an eagle, otters, etc.. The house is great - plenty of room for everyone, well equipped, clean. Great for a family getaway. No air conditioning, so it got a little warm - would advise guests to bring fans. Easy drive from the Twin Cities. We had a wonderful time.
We had a great time at the house! The kitchen had everything we needed and the outdoor space had comfortable chairs with a wonderful view of the lake. There were both indoor and outdoor games and we enjoyed a wide variety of activities plus boating and fishing from the dock. Overall a beautiful house on a very private and quiet lake. It's a do-over!
This is an amazing property, with plenty of spaces in the cabin and outside to spread out. The cabin was clean and well equipped. The rooftop deck was a great spot for sunrise/sunsets. The lake was very clean, but it isn't a large lake. We had a fabulous time and will definitely return!
We enjoyed our stay immensely. This Lake is wonderful. There is no public access so it is quiet. We rented the pontoon and used it many times a day - definitely worth it. Went swimming off it, trolled around the lake, and went fishing. We used the kayaks daily as well. Lots of fun fishing - bass and sunnies and crappies. We had a family reunion, plenty of room for all. We found Mark to be very responsive to any needs. He met us there and gave us a tour and instructions on the pontoon. When we had a significant issue with the septic (not his fault) he took care of it as fast as possible. Luckily there was a second bathroom and the boys were not shy about using the woods. We knew there was no AC but fans were provided. I would consider bringing more just because many of us wanted our own. It was only really warm two nights. The rest of the stay was quite comfortable. Sauna was nice. This is not a facility for those with mobility issues. The main floor has a bathroom and bedroom so that would be fine. But the other bedrooms are accessed via a spiral staircase or going outside to the other bedroom/bath. There is steep walk to the dock but beautifully landscaped. Kitchen had most of what we needed. If bringing a big group would recommend extra coolers for drinks etc. The only thing we really wished for was a bigger dining room table. Only seating for six at this table and we like to play cards as a big group. Eating was fine as we spread out on the decks and sunroom. Loved the Eagles's nest - we fought over who got to sleep there. And if you could stand the mosquitoes, my son liked sleeping on the top deck - gorgeous view of the stars. Thanks Mark. We had a blast.
Our week at Falconhurst was fantastic. The property is diverse in terrain and had many, many quaint and cozy places to sit, relax and take in the nature. We caught many fish right off the doc and on the lake, while using the (rented) pontoon. The house is unique in its design and feels just right as a northern lake house getaway. Mark was incredibly responsive with his communications and helped us find some local gems for dinner. Highly recommended for a week away from the city. I hope to be back next summer. Thanks Mark!
Falconhurst is a very unique and lovely place. It was very peaceful and just a charming house. The owners, Mark and Kami, are very nice and were very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped, as is the whole house. The only bummer was no AC and it just happened to be hot and humid the first 3 nights. But there were lots of fans and that helped. And we knew it when we booked. The first night we were there, we had a storm and part of the dock was dislodged and the pontoon boat came loose and was only held on by one rope. We let Mark know and he came up and repaired the dock and gave us a bit of history of the place. (Mark... I think you should write up a little history of the house for your guests to read. It's very interesting and explains some of the trees!) ;-) The lake is fairly small, and not a public lake, so there is not a lot of traffic on it. We kayaked and canoed and took the pontoon out for a nightly slow ride around the lake. We got some beautiful sunset sky pictures from the boat. If you're into a lot of action and crowds, then this is not the place for you. BUT if you want peace and quiet and lovely surroundings, be quick and get it booked! We would definitely go back.
We loved staying here. We were blown away by the views, the kids caught fish after fish right off the dock, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean and neat. There was always something new to explore outside, and there were so many places to be without leaving the property. So quiet and private too. I hope to be back again!
