Idyllic 3 BR house on the edge of El Yunque Rainforest. Situated on the crest of the hillside property overlooking palm trees and banana plants, facing west towards the sunset and San Juan. Our house is now completely SOLAR POWERED, so totally self sufficient (no more power outage concerns)!!
A surprisingly quick 20 minute drive from Luis Munoz International Airport, the peace and quiet are only complimented by the Coqui frogs and birds as your nearest neighbors. 2 air conditioned bedrooms downstairs and one air conditioned Master bedroom upstairs, with 2 patio terraces to enjoy the sun, flora and fauna of Puerto Rico's National Rainforest environs.
Located 10 minutes from the entrance to El Yunque National Rainforest and 15 minutes from spectacular Luquillo Beach, considered the one of the most beautiful beaches on Isla del Encanto.
When we first arrived we could not believe how remote the property was...it seemed we were driving up a steep hill for a while. The view from that top deck with a cup of coffee in hand is so worth it. The bird watching is top notch. We enjoyed our stay so much that there was little reason to leave the house.
Check-in was easy-peasy thanks to Cindy, very welcoming and very accommodating and helpful. Only concern the space in one of the bedrooms used for storage by owner. Otherwise a great place if you're peace and quiet. With the exception of the last few nights dogs barking and gun fire were most concerning.
Beautiful house and view, well appointed kitchen (restaurants/grocery nearby), very comfortable beds (upstairs bedroom is awesome, love feeling like you're in the trees), great stargazing, check-in and check-out easy, location perfect for day trips to San Juan, local beaches, Fajardo, El Yunque Rainforest, Humacao nature reserve . We have chickens so the roosters crowing from 4am on made us feel at home; we loved it but, if you don't, a pillow over the head works fine. Listing indicates use of washer/dryer, but we were told we couldn't use the washer due to soap/rainforest issues 12 days after confirming. There's a laundromat in Luquillo but that is NOT convenient or useful for social distancing. Rte 3 can have heavy traffic at times, but it moves.
Casita Yunquita is a hidden gem. Tim is a highly committed and communicative host who made the renting experience flawless for us. And we had no idea how perfect the location was until we arrived at the property. There were four of us. We slept to jungle sounds and breezes (no air conditioning needed). We awakened to stunning hilly jungle views and wildlife. We hopped in our car and drove to El Yunque, Luquillo, Fajardo, and San Juan in 15-30 minutes. When we didn’t eat at our house, we ate at authentic (not fancy) Puerto Rican outdoor restaurants along route 3. We beached and kayaked in Fajardo. We went scuba diving in Culebra. We jumped off cliffs in El Yunque. We ate fancy food and danced salsa in San Juan. And we always came home to Tim’s little paradise in the jungle. Don’t tell too many people about this place. It is that good!
I recently stayed in Casita Yunquita. Dawn brings dappled sunlight, bird songs and the scent of Spanish Jasmine to the patio. Surrounded by a verdant garden, it’s the top spot for morning coffee. LOCATION: The house is in a tranquil location on a hilltop in a gated area at the end of a private road. From the balcony, there is a view as far as the eye can see. Sunsets are spectacular! And sitting there in the evening is enchanting. Crank up your Reggae and chill out in the gentle breeze as you enjoy the twinkling lights of distant homes and settlements. LOCATION: It’s close to El Yunque rainforest’s famous waterfalls and pools — about 15 minutes away. 20 minutes to Luquillo Beach, 35 minutes to Old San Juan and 45 minutes to the Laguna Grande Bioluminescent Lagoon. You can even take a day trip to Culebra Island and get back during daylight hours. LOCATION: It’s 30 minutes from the airport and 10 to 20 minutes to grocery stores, restaurants and a drop-off laundromat. So, close to all of the conveniences you’ll need during your stay. In three days, you can take in the trails, waterfalls, pools, beaches and nearby islands. Add another day for a daytime and evening stroll in Old San Juan and among the street murals of Santurce, the nearby art district. I’ve described the highlights that I’ve enjoyed. Go elsewhere if being peacefully away from the hustle and bustle is not for you. You can read the owner’s description for the basics. The price is dirt cheap, so take advantage before he catches.
Tim’s beautiful casita was the perfect home base for a week of adventure. Great location for day trips to San Juan and the East coast. The tropical sunset from the back patio is something I will never forget. So relaxing! Property manager was very kind and professional. Highly recommend this stayed . Would love to visit again.
If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature, this is the place for you. Secluded house at the edge of El Yunque, extremely beautiful views everywhere you look. The sounds of the Coqui at night will for sure put you to sleep. The house is very beautiful inside and out. Never got a chance to use the upstairs bedroom, but the view from the terrace up top is the best! Also, Toco was very helpful with everything and was there when we needed him. Thank you for letting us stay in your home. Will return again soon!
We love adventure traveling and your home is perfect for that. It is a perfect spot for exploring the real heart and soul of Puerto Rico. Thank you for having us and we’ll undoubtedly be back.
An enchanted two story Mediterranean style villa, nested on the rainforest in Puerto Rico, surrounded by beautiful fauna, the unique sounds of coquis, and abundant rain. La Yunquita provides the perfect setting to relax, love, and dream watching sunsets and sundowns while laying in a comfortable bed or reading beautiful poetry with your soulmate. You can also enjoy hiking in El Yunque, swimming in Luquillo beach or savoring delicious food in the kiosks. Would like to return in the summer to see the flamboyanes crowning this hidden treasure. LP
Casita Yunquita is a unique getaway, in a tropical paradise. Conveniently located near shopping and eateries, one can lounge on the balconies and observe amazing bird life. Just 20 minutes away there is hiking in the El Yunque national rain forest, or swimming in the turquoise waters at Luquillo beach. The casita is clean, comfortable and has all the basic necessities. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had. You will need a car which you can rent at the airport. We took a day trip to Old San Juan- a must. We enjoyed El Verde BBQ a roadside eatery minutes from the casita and Lluvia, a breakfast/lunch cafe on the road to El Yunque. We recommend this property highly.
Nested at the edge of El Yunque Rain Forest, this property is a bright and tasteful property. A cool breeze passes through the porches and decks which have great views of the valley below and beyond. Greenery and tropical plants and flowers abound. Plenty of kitchen and common space--as well as privacy. Room to wander around the adjoining land. Prepare to relax the moment you arrive. A lovely vacation.
