The Carndonagh House is perfect for a romantic couple getaway or small family retreat. The home is decorated in the industrial farmhouse style - the owners, Chuck and Dawn Doherty, are big Fixer Upper fans!
This lovely home is walking distance (less than a mile) to downtown Atascadero with the Sunken Gardens, wine bars, movie theater, boutique stores, craft breweries, and restaurants. The Carndonagh House is also centrally located between Paso Robles wineries (15 minutes to the north), San Luis Obispo (20 minutes south,) and beautiful central coast beaches 20 minutes to the southwest.
The Carndonagh House is a 1000 sq foot home on two levels. The two upstairs bedrooms are furnished for comfort in the industrial farmhouse style. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and sitting area. Bedroom two has a twin daybed with a twin trundle.
There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, flat screen television with ROKU ( Amazon Prime and Hulu), DVD player, free WiFi and fireplace. The front patio is the perfect place for you to enjoy your morning coffee and to relax after a day at the beach or wine tasting. Common sights you may see are deer, squirrels and the stars in the night sky. Bubbling seasonal creek runs through the property in winter.
The owners live in a nearby house on the same oak-studded property.
There is a $25 per night fee for extra guests over the original two guests. VRBO will calculate this extra fee when you book so there won't be any surprises. Maximum Occupancy - Four people.
Chef Charles Doherty is available for your own food and wine pairing dinner OR a dessert and wine/port pairing! When you book with Carndonagh House, we'll send you more information. Dinners or Dessert Pairings must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
We're looking forward to hosting great people.
We only rent for 2 nights minimum to 7 nights maximum.
Need to have light bedding available during the summer, comforters are cute but to hot to sleep under during the summer.
This must be the nicest place we've ever rented through VRBO. From beginning to end, our stay was stellar. The setting is lovely, the house is even prettier and more comfortable than described, and the hosts were amazing. Truly, it was magical! And the added touch of fresh scones, cream, and jam were extraordinary, as were the fresh egsgs. All in all, this place is a 10 out of 5!
Wonderful hosts, great little touches, felt like home ! Chuck & Dawn have gone above and beyond to make this property one of a kind !
Charming Central Coast property, surrounded by trees, very quiet, and very clean. All kitchen amenities are available, including 3 different ways to brew coffee. The homemade scones and jam and fresh eggs were a pleasant surprise, and we enjoyed eating breakfast while watching the squirrels in the yard. The property owners were glad to help with any questions or suggestions for activities. Walking into the town center is not taxing if you are a walker, but be prepared to walk beside the road. SLO and Paso Robles are a short drive and offer more dining choices. We look forward to another visit.
This farmhouse stay in Atascadero is a special place. Easy communication and check-in with the hosts, sparkling clean and stylish house and beautiful yard. The thoughtful touches abound! A bottle of wine, fresh scones and jam, fully stocked coffee station and fresh eggs we’re waiting for us upon check-in. The house is such a cozy, comfortable place….it’s hard to leave! The location has easy access to the freeway and 5 min from many shops and restaurants. You won’t regret staying here if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation home.
Wow! Dawn and her husband are incredible hosts and have wonderful details and additions for your stay. They welcome you with gifts, suggestions for things to do and see, and the house is spotless! Would recommend to anyone
We loved staying at this home away from home. We will miss it and will definitely rebook our next trip to Cali.
Pros: Starry nights Irish Charm Peace & Quiet Rustic furnishings (the wooden staircase, amazing!) Squirrels! Front porch for meditating and relaxation Scones, jam and wine, oh my! Fully stocked kitchen to make our morning breakfast Welcome binder which included all sorts of helpful information Access to Hulu to binge watch Staged after a day of play Soft throw blankets and comfy couch Cons: Having to leave :( In summary, Carndonagh House exceeded all my expectations and more. My favorite season is the fall and I was excited to see pumpkins and other fall decorations in various rooms. Chef Chuck outdid himself with the scones and plum jam which we happily ate with the eggs that were provided for us. We can't wait to return, hopefully next time to include Chef Chuck's food and wine pairing dinner!
What started off as a place to stay for a friends wedding, turned out to be the most soul-satisfying retreat. Chuck and Dawn are exceptional hosts. Every attention to detail was met and then some. Arriving to the Irish Melody tunes when we walked in, was like getting a great big hug from a loved one. We look forward with great anticipation for a Springtime retreat. Thank you Chuck & Dawn!
Chuck & Dawn went above and beyond our expectations for our stay at their place! They are 5 star hosts all the way around. When we arrived the driveway was lit up with party lights to make it easy to see at night. The check in/check out process was easy and they quickly responded to any messages we sent them. They had recommendations for local places and a guest book to leave a message for them and other guests. Truly a fantastic place & hosts, thank you very much!
We had such a wonderful stay! The cottage is so charming and the hosts go out of their way to make you feel welcome. There are so many great amenities. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to go back!
The hosts Chuck and Dawn are AMAZING. The property is flawless and every need is anticipated in the home. The small touches make it a HOME. The home was so clean, the sheets and towels were plush and the bed in the master is the best we've ever slept on in a rental. The location is perfect to visit the town of Atascadero as well as centrally located to all the neighboring towns sights and wineries. We will 100% be staying here again!
The property was exactly as described (except the owners and I may have a different definition of “walking distance” :-). The house is in a quiet residential area, and was very relaxing. The owner’s live next door, but give you as much privacy or assistance as you want. I have been staying in VRBO homes for decades now, and this has to be one of the best kitchen set ups as far as pots and pans and knives. I’ve been in some homes where the kitchen is an afterthought and its stocked with discard pans and knives and cooking is a bit like cooking while camping, but not here. If you like to cook, the utensils are good quality. The seasonings were basic, but with COVID restrictions I was not expecting to see anything, so it was great. The scones and jam provided were delicious, and the eggs, butter and cream were a wonderful bonus. It was a great stay and wouldn’t think twice about coming back.
This house is perfectly appointed for any occasion. This was my second trip. I liked it so much the first time, I brought my family to enjoy it this time. We were able to do San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cambria, Paso Robles, and Atascadero all from this central location. Pair that with the impeccable hospitality of Chuck & Dawn and you have the perfect property for a trip to the central coast. The air conditioning worked perfectly, even on the hottest of days. Stay here! You won’t be disappointed.
When we arrived at the inviting home it was like receiving a warm hug which resulted in a peace that pervaded our whole stay. We came for our daughter’s wedding and we left so filled! Our hosts were available when needed and always so kind each time we had a question about the area. Their VRBO had every amenity you could ever need including a concise notebook to answer any tech question with the house. This notebook also included points of interest, activities and amazing restaurant suggestions. The beds were so comfortable and Chuck’s homemade scones had us desiring where we could buy them! Thank you Chuck and Dawn! 😊
We were greeted with a bottle of wine, freshly baked scones, and home-made plum jam! The house was spacious, clean, and a short drive to Paso Robles. The owners, Chuck and Dawn, live next door so they are readily available and very accommodating. Everything was truly perfect! I will definitely stay again if I’m ever in the area.
Could not wish for better hosts! The house is charming and was so clean and neat upon our arrival and their attention to the little things was beyond belief. Light switches labeled, night lights installed, white noise machines available, luggage stands, full length mirrors in each bedroom, tourist brochures, eggs and scones available for breakfast, cream for coffee, additional towels and toiletry items for your use. Add to that the fact that they are continually maintaining and upgrading the property. While we were there, a charming waterfall was installed near the front patio that was just lovely to listen to. We were very appreciative that they cared for the property and their quests in a manner in which they themselves would desire. Would most definitely stay there again when we next visit the area.
We had a wonderful time staying here. The house was very clean and when we walked in, fresh scones and plum jam made by Chuck, wine, and Irish music greeted us. It was very considerate of them to have a little bucket of toiletries in case we forgot something (which we did!) and my five year old really appreciated all of the Dr. Seuss books. He was so excited about the house that during our whole trip he kept asking when we could go back and stay in the house. The house is also very conveniently located near downtown Atascadero and a short drive to Paso Robles, Morro Bay, and not too far from Pismo Beach and SLO. Thank you Dawn and Chuck for welcoming us to your lovely home!
This property is beautiful and the house is amazing! Everything was so organized and welcoming! The hospitality made us feel relaxed and at home! It’s a very peaceful setting!
Chuck and Dawn are far and away the best hosts we’ve ever had. Their property is charming, spotless and has all the finishing touches plus true care and effort. I’ve reviewed the amazingly thoughtful things you get upon arrival previously but I’ll add that this year I mentioned that I struggled to repeat Chuck’s AMAZING scones (which are on the table upon arrival). A week later I had tips in my inbox. These two people are just so sweet and really put effort into making you feel like you are safe and cared for while not being intrusive. This place is a gem and the owners are 10/10.
Lovely property surrounded by oak trees. Birds in the morning. Wind through the trees. This was paradise made even more beautiful by the personal touches of the owners who live right next door. My friends and I stayed here for a 50th birthday and enjoyed every minute. A fridge of food, a pail of items we might have forgotten, fresh towels with rosemary sprigs, I felt at home as soon as we walked in. Irish folk music, fresh baked scones, and everything you could ever need. Also, they were kind enough to contact us ahead to ask about extra beds and to make sure we had excellent directions. Really a superior property. Hoping to stay here again. Maybe I’ll let my family come next time. 😉
A friend and I met in the middle for a 4 day weekend trip. First, the house is lovely. It’s well-decorated and stocked with coffee, cream, eggs, bacon, and rosé on arrival! Oh and there were also delicious scones! The location is a short walk to restaurants and shops in Atescadero, and 20 minutes driving to Paso Robles or San Luis Obispo. It was 40 minutes driving to the coast where we went hiking. We had everything we needed for a little R&R in a home away from home! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone, and myself would make this trip and rent this property again!!
Absolutely PERFECT in every way! This cottage was the perfect getaway for 3 girlfriends. It’s the perfect place for anyone and everyone. I want to bring my family here next! Chuck and Dawn have been extremely kind and quick to respond to any questions or needs. We walked in and were immediately blown away by the serenity and peaceful atmosphere. Music was playing, scones, jam, wine, (masks and sanitizers 😊) were set out to welcome us. Three middle aged women who are definite fans of some fixer upper style were in heaven!!! I could go on and on...but there was no detail left unturned. Truly, everything was perfect. Thank you both so much for all of the detail you have put into this place, nothing went unoticed.
From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a great place! It's obvious that Chuck & Dawn take great pride in their cottage, from all the amenities that are provided, including many extras which were 'over and above' what homeowners usually provide. We were welcomed with a basket filled with homemade scones, a very nice bottle of wine and even a card wishing us a happy anniversary! This place was immaculate and even has baskets with essentials in case you forgot to pack, (toothpaste, toothbrush, q-tips, deodorant, shampoo & rinse and more! Chuck also is a Chef, & hopes to open his own restaurant in time. We decided to take advantage of his chef skills and had a delicious four course dinner, having each course paired with a wine to complement it. Dinner was fabulous! Honestly I told my husband that they must really enjoy hosting & cooking for their guests because they can't be making much profit for all that he and his wife do to make guests comfortable. Top notch place. Thanks again!!!
The Carndongh House, with a “home” feel in Atascadero. Minutes away from downtown Atascadero, Paso Robles, and Morro Bay. Located in a quite neighborhood with lots of character and charm. The owners, Chuck and Dawn were outstanding hosts. When we arrived, we were greeted with a bottle of red wine and delicious blueberry scones. The best scones every! Chuck Stopped by the house to answer any questions we might have about our stay. Great customer service! I high recommend to stay at this charming retreat! A memorable experience at the Carndonagh House.
Great place to stay. Liked knowing we had this place to go home to after a long day of adventures in the area. Quiet neighborhood, safe and woodsy. Nice touches showed owners care about their guests. Will not disappoint.
Great, quiet location.
I rented the house for my mother and niece to stay in during the holidays. Communication with the hosts was prompt and friendly. My mother very much appreciated arriving to a vacation home that was decorated for the holidays, even including holiday music playing. According to my mother, the kitchen included all items needed to cook dinners for her, my sister, and the grandchildren. My sister who visited the house during the evenings informed me that the house furniture was well laid out and the house décor was elegant. She also mentioned that the large Oak Trees on the property and the beautiful views onto the property from the many windows.
This was an amazing time for my wife and I. Dawn and her husband were great hosts and attended to anything we needed. the home was super clean, quaint, and had all of the necessities we could have ever needed. We were greeted with homemade scones and jam, breakfast for the morning and coffee. We were also left with a bottle of wine and chocolates for our anniversary. Wine tasting nearby and Dawn recommended local places to eat and visit. A must stay in the Astacadero and Paso Robles. We will be back for sure!
The hosts made the experience very easy and enjoyable.
The house was exactly as described and fit our needs perfectly. We will most definitely be back.
We very much enjoyed another stay at the Carndonagh House. Dawn and Chuck genuinely care about your comfort and are very generous with all the extras they provide. The cottage is very clean, quiet and located where there are many places to visit within a 10-30 minute drive.
Chuck and Dawn are consummate hosts and their charming two-story home has everything a vacationer could ask for and MORE. Seriously, we've stayed at a bunch of places and these two take great pride in providing a place where you come in and immediately feel comfort, warmth and welcome. From the freshly-baked scones complete with homemade jam, to the STOCKED fridge with breakfast essentials, we were pleasantly surprised to see so much effort put into making our stay amazing. On top of all of this, the house is fully stocked with essentials in the kitchen and bathrooms and the place was immaculate. The bed was SUPER comfy and we even asked where they got their sheets! We will most certainly be asking to stay again and we so appreciate Chuck and Dawn's hospitality. Definitely stay here.
We had a wonderful stay at this perfectly appointed rental. The hosts were incredibly gracious and took the time to meet with us and go over the details of the house. We could not have been more happy with our experience and would highly recommend this rental to anybody looking for a getaway to the Paso Robles/Atascadero area.
We come to Atascadero every few months to visit our family here, and we have stayed in at least 5 different rentals in this area, some of them several times. We decided to try a new one this trip, and we are so glad we did! Chuck and Dawn put an extraordinary amount of thought and work into renovating Carndonagh House, and it shows! We could not have improved on anything they’ve done. We have stayed in some places where we’ve had to adopt a “let’s just pretend we’re camping” attitude, because of the less-than-ideal condition of the appliances, cookware, etc. That is definitely not the case here; this is a house I would be happy to live in. The beds and linens were so very comfortable, all the appliances, furniture. and fixtures were practically brand new and in perfect condition, and the personal touches made the place feel like home. We will most definitely want to stay here on our next trip to Atascadero!
Great little house. Designed well. Great amenities to make you feel at home. Cute town, small, walkable. Great spot to get to Paso, SLO, or Beaches!
This property was one of those that surprised us from the moment we drove up the drive. Anticipating an average home for the price of the listing, we got the pleasant surprise of being wowed. The owners did not miss a detail from the friendly first email when we booked to the quick refund of the deposit the same day we left. The decor was thoughtfully put together and the finishing details included a nice bottle of wine(the owners asked us what type we liked before we arrived) fresh scones, and baked bread along with homemade plum jelly from the tree in the front yard. This property is perfect for a couple looking for a quiet get away or a for a small family. There are two bedrooms upstairs with a daybed/trundle in one and queen in the master. It is set in a residential neighborhood amongst the oak woodlands with plenty of wildlife(birds galore, deer, etc) Everything was thought of. No detail was missed. We especially enjoyed the covered porch in the front where we drank early morning coffee and ate breakfast while watching the various birds, squirrels, and deer go about their business. Also a favorite was the availability and workability of the technology we have all grown accustomed to: easy internet access, a smart TV with Roku, DVD player if you still like to slip in a disc to watch movies. We could not have asked for a more perfect setting, home, or experience. There a so many things to do around the area. Wineries galore, walking trails on the coast( a short hop over the hill), restaurants for every taste. We will definitely be back for more. Chuck and Dawn-- the owners--definitely know their stuff when it comes to putting out the red carpet for guests. It is our hope that you get a chance to experience what we did.
Such gracious hosts. Attention to detail at every turn. From fresh baked scones and bread to a well appointed home. Comfy bedding, darling decor, great outdoor setting.
This is our second visit to Cardonaugh House. Once again, the owners have exceeded our expectations. This is one VRBO listing where the actual property is better than the photos depict. This property is super clean, extremely well-decorated and inviting. There was a bottle of local wine, yummy homemade scones, bread, plum jam from a tree on the property and a very well-stocked fridge complete with eggs, butter, cream, bacon, etc. No other owners so all this for their guests. The owners should be given a VRBO award for going over the top ensuring their guests are happy!
We have stayed in eight vrbo properties and this place ranks at the top. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The extra goodies, including wine, were a appreciated bonus. We'll be back!
From the beginning warmth of the fire place, fresh baked bread (still warm upon our arrival), fresh baked scones (the best scones we've ever tasted), and a bottle of some fantastic Merlot, we were hooked. The Carndonagh House is perfectly appointed with all you need to make a home out of your retreat. Oh, I forgot to mention the dozen fresh eggs and Black Forest bacon in the fridge! We stayed in for breakfasts and enjoyed the mornings with no noise or hustle. Chuck and Dawn are the perfect hosts and we look forward to returning for our next Central Coast retreat.
Super cute place and great location. Would definitely recommend it to my friends and come back.
It was an exceptional experience. Enjoyed meeting owners, Dawn & Chuck who warmly welcomed us to their adorable cottage. They went above and way beyond to think of everything possible to make us feel at home and they very much succeeded. The home was spotless, quiet and super cute. This experience will be our new gold standard to which we will compare all others and frankly, we believe the only way we will find it is to return to the Carndonagh House. Thank you both for everything, plus all the wonderful extras.
We were very impressed with the overall attention to detail, cleanliness, and a very homey feel of the house. We were pleasantly surprised with homemade shortbread cookies and a delicious bottle of wine. We were thrown over the top when we found a loaf of hot homemade bread, and homemade plum jam for us on the counter. The jam was delicious and we were surprised to find that the plums were from the tree in the front yard. The house was extremely well furnished and had extra blankets and pillows. There was also a very handy binder that gave us a lot of important information as well as great places to go. Paso Robles and Templeton were just a quick Uber ride away. The owners were very accommodating with all our needs. We highly recommend the Carndonagh House and would definitely stay here again.
I can guarantee that a stay at Cardonagh House will NOT disappoint! It is a very quaint, quiet, lovely home off of the beaten path. Absolutely anything you could need is there for you. We walked in to the smell of freshly baked cookies. A fresh baked loaf of bread was on the counter and all the fixings for the next mornings breakfast in the fridge! Can't forget about the bottle of wine either. My husband couldn't believe it. We were greeted by Chuck, who gave us time to settle and then came over and gave us a brief run down of things about the house and was informative when asked about other things we had questions about ( ie: the beach :) ). We were in town for a family wedding but had time to wander around a bit. We've stayed at quite a few VRBO's, all of which were very nice, but I think it will be very hard to find another with so much personality, and so many extras. All were very much appreciated! You two have outdone yourselves! As I wrote in your notebook, that if we're ever in the area again we could only be so lucky to have the Cardonagh House available. I wouldn't even look for another place. This place deserves to be rented every day! My only regret is not staying longer! Rent it ...you WILL NOT be disappointed! Thank You Chuck and Dawn!
Charming and lovely house to stay in. Would definitely recommend it. Was in town for a wedding and it fit our needs perfectly. Chuck and Dawn made sure we had everything we needed.Thank you again Chuck and Dawn!
Wow! My husband and I have been staying in HomeAway rentals for over 10 years of travel. This was really one of the loveliest homes we've ever booked. Dawn and Chuck were such gracious and generous hosts...with unsurpassed attention to every small detail to make you feel at home. I won't give away all of the little touches...I don't want to diminish the surprise and delight you'll experience upon arrival. Hubs and I spent our days exploring up and down the Pacific Coast Highway and it was such a pleasure to return each evening to this wonderful home. Great location, superb hosts, phenomenal rental. Just book it and enjoy every moment!
My boyfriend and I are in our 50s, and wanted a quick getaway from the Bay Area to celebrate our two year anniversary. We have gone to Paso Robles many times, but neither of has had been to Atascadero. The house is perfectly located to walk to town and nearby hikes, as well as explore the unique neighborhood. One of the features that caught our eye was that Chuck is a chef, and offers private dinners to guests. That seemed like a unique and special way to celebrate. Chuck worked with us to develop the perfect six course meal paired with wines, learning first our likes and dislikes so he could tailor the meal to us. And WOW - what a meal it was. Every dish was impeccably prepared with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. The wines Chuck chose to accompany each dish were carefully chosen, and together made what was great separately superb together. We were surrounded by candlelight, and every whim attended to by he and Dawn. We left fully satisfied and amazed at the evening to remember. Back to arrival. As many have commented, we were greeted by homemade shortbread cookies on the dining room table that were delicious, as well as a lovely bottle of local merlot. A small blackboard welcomed us each by name. A fresh loaf of sourdough bread with a jar of homemade plum jam drew us into the kitchen which was stocked with all the dishes and cookware any chef could ask for. And, of course, coffee both as k-cups and for the French press - we made use of both. In the refrigerator awaited even more culinary opportunities - bacon, eggs, milk, and butter. All fresh and promising a hearty breakfast each morning! I made my boyfriend a toasted sourdough, bacon, jam and egg sandwich which he loved - especially the jam! The house is cleaner than my house, and that's saying a lot. Dawn decorated the house for fall, and the house smelled of fresh cinnamon to complement the décor. Sunflowers, gourds, throw pillows - all little touches capturing the season. The couch was comfy with lots of blankets. The upstairs bathroom has everything you need from lovely smelling body washes to cotton balls and Q-tips and the bed offers a dreamy sleep. We enjoyed sitting outside each morning with our coffee watching the insane number of squirrels playing amongst the giant oaks. Utterly relaxing. We also walked about 5 miles straight from the home to a nearby trail. The home is everything we wanted for a romantic getaway and more. We cannot recommend it enough!
This is a very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated home. Dawn and Chuck are great hosts and the cookies, bread and wine are such a warm welcome! The items left for breakfast were so appreciated. We took them up on the wine and food pairing dinner offered and would highly recommend this option. It is nice to have a dinnerout and then walk across the property to home! Do not hesitate to book this accommodation.
A very nice little house. New, clean, quiet neighborhood. Our hosts were more than accommodating. We would definitely rent again if the need comes up.
Very nice property very we’ll stay stocked. Very Peaceful setting. Couldn’t be happier. Owners were delightful and eager to answer any questions we had about the area!
The charming hosts go above and beyond to insure a comfortable stay. While our visit in Atascadero was for a sad funeral, we found the Cardonaugh House to be a peaceful HOME with quiet surroundings, that comforted and soothed our souls. We left there knowing we will return.
We arrived late in the evening to the sound of Irish music, the sight of gorgeous landscape photos from the area on the TV, and the smell of homemade cookies and fresh-baked bread. You could not have asked for a more welcoming environment. Dawn and Chuck came by shortly after we arrived and chatted for a bit; giving us the scoop on the place and welcoming us. The house itself is stunning. Everything is perfect. The decor was very modern and lovely. The beds were super comfy. The bathroom was spacious and had a rain shower that was pretty choice. The kitchen was super stocked which was great since I was prepping some food for a graduation down in SLO. We were in and out much of the weekend due to the nature of our trip, but wished we could have spent more time there. The location was choice. Just a few minutes off the highway and only about 20 minutes north of SLO. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely; filled with beautiful old growth oaks and sycamores. We relaxed on the front patio and watched squirrels play round and round the trees while having a glass of wine and listening to some tunes. It was so nice! Chuck and Dawn have put so much into making this an amazing vacation rental. Their attention to detail was not overlooked. We appreciated everything! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet getaway in the central coast area. Stunning!
The home is Great. One of the best equipped and attention to details places we have stayed. Dawn was a great host. The home is clean and comfortable with many extra details including food cookies and a nicely stocked kitchen. Thanks hope to come back Bob
It was PERFECT!! Absolutely lovely, everything is super new including the kitchen. Gives you the feeling of real luxury for an affordable price. Its really amazing to have the whole beautiful house to yourself, fast internet, and honestly everything that you need. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The property was exactly as described by owners, and to me, this is a huge deal. I think this rental is actually nicer than the photos show which is highly unusual in my experience. Deer and squirrels greeted us upon our arrival. Unloading your vehicle is simple (back into the driveway and then the rear of your vehicle is only a few easy steps to the front door). Upon entering the home, we found fresh homemade (and extremely yummy) cookies, fresh baked bread and a very delicious bottle of local Merlot. We called the owners (who live on the same property in a nearby home) and they immediately came over and described the finer details of how everything in the home worked and answered our questions about the local area (e.g. breweries and wineries of which there are many!). We've stayed in many VRBO homes and this had the best designed and well-stocked kitchen by far. Among all the standard dry items you might need for cooking, there was even bottled water, a dozen eggs, bacon, milk and butter in the refrigerator for us. Who does that? This home is charming beyond belief and as the owners stated, they've obviously done a lot of traveling and have incorporated all the finer touches in this home. The porch in the front of the home has a table and chairs (not shown in photo) that really is the perfect location to have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the afternoon or evening. This home was warm, welcoming, super clean and comfortable and we will definitely be back the next time we plan a stay in the area. Thank you Chuck and Dawn.
Chuck and Dawn are wonderful hosts who have thought of every detail and beyond!! Carndonagh house is beautiful and cozy and we will be back!
This place is UBER cozy with comfortable furnishings and high-end linens. The owners, Chuck and Dawn, have recently remodeled this wonderful home outwards and inwards and turned it into a Pinterest Poster Child for Country Charm Living. Upon first entering, we were greeted with a plate full of yummy butter cookies and a delicious bottle of local red wine. The refrigerator was nicely stocked with fresh dozen eggs, bacon, butter, milk, and a warm loaf of sourdough bread lay inside a basket wrapped up all ready to eat. It set the tone for the rest of the weekend. This place accommodated our family of four very very comfortably ( we all had our own beds!) and the kitchen was decked out with all you need for cooking up a delicious meal. I highly recommend Chuck and Dawns charming retreat over any hotel in the area. This is your value added vacation perfect pick.
I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is! The owners thought of every detail, including a well-stocked refrigerator, homemade Christmas cookies, and a bottle of wine. The home is neat as a pin and beautifully decorated. The fireplace insert is so welcoming on a chilly day, and quickly warms up the living room. There is plenty of privacy, but close proximity to town and local wineries. We highly recommend this rental, and would definitely come here again! Wonderful hosts!
