The kitchen areas were filthy. Had to clean. Stove was grease impacted. Griddle was permanently on. Floor grate was waste filled. Place mats had old food stuck to them. AC was a joke. Hotter in house than outside. Had to buy fans. Stained sheet. Refrigerator froze all foods. Freezer was tiny. Ice maker out of order. I could go on. Relatively nice house and fairly nicely furnished. Most beds were atrocious. Bathrooms seemed quite clean. Overall it was a rip off. We were swindled. We have pictures of all of this.
Eight of us had a wonderful time at this property. clean, updated, professional kitchen. All good.
The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.
BlueMoon is large, comfortable, and well-equipped. The kitchen is great, once you find the under-counter drawers with the utensils. The house accommodates a large family very nicely. However, check with the property manager about laundry facilities if you have small children — note that the listing (as of this writing) does not include laundry.
The house is very nice, having a bathroom available for each bedroom was a plus for our group. It's nicely decorated in a classic style. It's easily walk-able to the theaters. Our only reservation about the property is that the kitchen is strange. It's a commercial grade kitchen, and not really well suited for a casual stay where you really just want the basics to be accessible and easy. The fridge makes a lot of noise when it's running, and the kitchen gets hot (even when it's not being used), and it's hard to find the silverware and utensils you're looking for.
Our group had a lovely week-long stay at Blue Moon House. The house is comfortable and the five-bedroom/five-bath layout suited us (three couples plus a single) well. The kitchen was a standout--I have never seen a vacation rental with such a well-equipped kitchen. The professional range was a pleasure to use and the owners' provision of many cooking basics (flour, sugar, spices, etc.) was a much-appreciated bonus. In addition, the house is well-located for the Shakespeare company performances, local shops, and restaurants. We would happily stay there again.
Very clean, beautifully decorated. Lovely front porch and back deck. The chef grade kitchen was impressive. Would definitely stay at Blue Moon property again and next time, use the kitchen!
We found the Blue Moon a very comfortable place to kick back and reconnect with family. The kitchen is well stocked with just about any kitchen gadget you need to prepare a meal. The kids liked having a place to play together. While not uncomfortable, the king bedroom does not get the coolness of the air conditioning the rest of the house gets. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but the family members staying in that room mentioned it.
We had a great experience at the Blue Moon house! The property owners were quick to respond to us when we needed them to. The house was perfect for 8 adults with each bedroom having it's own bathroom! The kitchen was fantastic! We all book for next year.
The 5 bedrooms, each with an en suite bath, were perfect for our two families. The commercial kitchen made food prep easy and fun; and the option for indoor or outdoor seating for meals was great. The home is tastefully decorated, with clean and updated finishes. The only downside was the fact the dishwasher was not working, and we had challenges with the stove burners. 1 of the 7 pilots would not light, and gas freely leaked into the air, so when the stove was not in use, we had to turn the main shut down valve off. It would be great to have those two issues fixed, and then it would be a 5+ star rating. The location was perfect - short walk to town, Lithia Park, and many restaurants.
My family of 10 has a wonderful stay at this house. This was the best experience I’ve ever had with a rental. Using the kitchen was a Dream for all the cooks in the family. The separate bedrooms and bathrooms were incredibly convenient. The back porch served as our dining area for breakfast and dinner each day. The house was in a great location and was only a ten minute walk to downtown Ashland. My reasons for not giving it five stars? There were a few issues that needed to be addressed, and it was a little tricky to get help with things. The dishwasher was broken, and it wasn’t getting fixed until after our stay. The sink in one of the bathrooms was leaking a lot and we had to stop using it. And I wish there were more instructions in the kitchen on how to use all the fancy kitchen equipment along with how to clean it. Cleaning the grill top was very challenging and I’m not sure I was doing it right for the most part. The property management was very accommodating to us during our stay. We would definitely stay there again!
The home is more than we imagined. So many compliments from the family about size of rooms, bathroom availability, spacious dining, comfortable living room, location of plays, comfortable temperature and plenty of refrigerator space. Thank you for keeping up with the maintenance of this darling home. Peace to you and your family, Eric Sandoval
We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Blue Moon House with the exception of the kitchen. It has an excellent location which allowed us to walk into town and back whether we were going to Lithia park, and shopping during the day, or dinner and a play at night. The house is even closer to the grocery Co-Op, which we took advantage of. The beds with ensuite baths were comfortable, the outside deck has lots of seating and is very pleasant in the morning and evening, as is the garden. The indoor dining area has a nice big table. There are nice touches to the house, plenty of books and games, beautiful art on the wall, boxes of assorted teas, good variety of dish and glass wear. Management was very helpful in giving us tips on local hiking that we were extremenly happy about. Our only complaint was the kitchen. If it was in working order ithis would be a different review. The dishwasher controls were broken. We called the management and they were quick to arrive to deal with it, however even working around the broken control panel we found the dishwasher itself did not operate properly. We also told him that the griddle on the commercial stove was hot all the time. We were told that this was normal. When we returned there was a fan in the kitchen to help with the heat ( which was appreciated) but the griddle remained hot. This in itself seemed to be a safety issue to us. The next day the kitchen was even warmer. Closing the door to the kitchen to keep the heat in made the kitchen even hotter, the fridge ran so hard that it froze some of our drinks, the floor even got hot. We were there in warm weather so the heat was especially noticable. We let the management know our concerns and hope they have remedied what we considered to be unacceptable and potentially dangerous situation.
We had 3 families traveling together and needed a large house to accommodate everyone. Blue Moon was perfect! It is located on the corner of a quiet neighborhood. There is an adequate number of rooms, each with its own bathroom. The kitchen is amazing! Professional grade and well-stocked with all the cooking utensils you could need. Free wifi was an extra plus. There is street parking a a small lot in the back. The house is also a quick walk from downtown (delicious food and great shops) and Lithia Park, making it perfect for day trips. We had children from ages 3-9 with us, and the walk was not too far for any of them. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient place to lodge in Ashland.
Well appointed, nicely decorated with a lovely garden as well as a deck for relaxing or eating. Only thing missing was a DVD player...but did have Netflix.
The house was very comfortable with a bedroom and attached bath for each of us. The commercial kitchen was unusual and we enjoyed learning a little about how to use this. The house added to our overall enjoyment of our vacation in Ashland. Close to the OSF so that we could walk to the theaters and downtown- quite convenient. We would have liked a washing machine and dryer which is usually present when one rents a house. Thanks and hope we can stay again. Julie walsh
This place was really lovely. Huge commercial style kitchen with every tool and appliance you can think of. We had originally planned to go out to dinner, but the kitchen and dining area were so comfortable that we decided to cook both nights. Easy walk to groceries, shops and to the theater. We had one small problem, called the manager and someone came out and fixed it within a couple of hours. Highly recommend.
Definitely a converted B&B which has some advantages and disadvantages. The layout with a bathroom attached to each room was pretty nice. The industrial kitchen was strange... had what we needed for sure except the freezer which is in the basement but you do have access to it. Cute old building good location for walking to downtown and OSF. We stayed comfortably with 6 adults and 1 toddler. The beds were fairly comfortable and there was enough of everything such as TP except no sponge to wash dishes. There were no instructions on how to leave it but we found the trash bin outside and what is probably a recycling bin and there were baskets to leave the used towels. The only negative was a used packet of chewing tobacco on the floor in one of the downstairs rooms which luckily was found before the baby ate it.
This is a very quaint bead and breakfast. Very clean and very comfortable. Quiet neighborhood. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Also the bonus is this house is super close to downtown!!
