Very nice country atmosphere. The cottage was wonderful, overlooking pastures. It was very clean and modern. We stayed for 6 days with a small dog. The owners are on the premises and are very nice. Enjoyed the seclusion but shopping and restaurants are just a couple miles away, if desired.

My 9 year old granddaughter and I stayed two nights in Jeanne’s lovely cottage pool house. What a delight! Very high end design with superior details that will be appreciated by the most picky guests, but also extremely comfortable. Excellent queen bed in the one Bedroom and a large, very cozy sofa bed in the wonderful Living Room by the fireplace. Lovely all around. Definitely recommend.

Us humans loved the bed, furniture, dishwasher, microwave, cool fridge/freezer, bathroom & the huge tiled shower especially! Our 4 year old Brittany loved playing with the donkey, goats & hogs. Lots of hiking area nearby. Amenities & kitchen supplies were excellent. Proximity to everything was awesome! Quiet & private. Great owners!

Spa was filthy, algae in wading pool too.

I mentioned the spa and pool were unsanitary immediately on arrival. Jeanne the owner said do you own a pool, I don't know what to tell you. Also had trouble with the TV, at one point Bob the other owner demanded i let him in to set the TV. He said this is my house I don't want you screwing with the cords and messing it up. I literally had to explain we are in a pandemic, I prefer you not come in while we are staying here. He ended up walking me through the process over the phone it was very easy. He didn't need to get so agitated. I'm very sad and disappointed... I thought this was a place we would have enjoyed for years to come.

The home was beautiful and close to great breweries and wineries. The property owners were wonderful and helpful whenever we had any questions. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the pool cottage for 3 nights with our dogs. Jeanne and Bob were the easiest, most delightful hosts. It was if we were staying in Tuscany. The cottage and the grounds were fantastic. Did some river rafting, went to the Confluence, and took the dogs to swim and kayak with us at Natomas Lake. What an amazing 4 days in Gold County!

My wife and my dog and I stayed here and we couldn’t have been happier. The owner was waiting to greet us when we arrived and he was super nice and available by phone or text if you have any questions. It was immaculate inside and and appears to be a no expenses spared cottage. Who ever built it took their time to make it something special. Very classy interior and it was so quiet we felt like we were the only people around. It was Dec. when we visited so we didn’t get to take advantage of the beautiful pool facility but it was a nice part of our view. We have relatives in Auburn and will definitely want to stay here again when we’re up to visit.

The bathroom is to die for and am using some of their ideas for the remodeling of our bathroom. We drove to Lake Tahoe one day. About 2hours depending on North or South Tahoe. Also very close to the Foresthill bridge. One of the tallest in the US. Great place to stay!

The grounds are beautiful and orchard feeling as you arrive. There are views out every window and farm fresh eggs in the fridge. Beautiful shower with premier bathing essentials. We stayed three days...and never left the cottage!! Honestly, the kitchen is top of the line and we had the perfect amount of room in the fridge/freezer combo to eat in all our meals. The bed and couches were comfortable and the decor was current and charming. We only live twenty minutes away...but we’ll be back to this gem for more personal retreat time soon!!!

We went for a long weekend in October 2017 and had a great time. Auburn is a really nice town and much larger than we expected. Lots to do in Auburn, if you are bored, it's your own fault. The pool cottage is really beautiful inside and out. Inside is custom built with beautiful kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room. They even supply nice shampoo, conditioner etc. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the fresh eggs from their chickens, but it's so nice that they leave them for you, as well as fresh coffee and condiments, spices, etc. Lovely stay and would highly recommend it! Thanks Jeanne and Bob!!

My husband and I spent 10 days in the pool house and even though the weather didn't cooperate we loved it. Everything is provided, and everything is top of the range. We didn't use the pool as it was too cold and wet but we did enjoy the nightly light show. Bob and Jeanne were wonderful hosts as everyone else has said! Their daughter was also great and did a guided tour of the animals for our grand children who were staying in the carriage house. We grilled out a couple of times and enjoyed the spa and the outdoor fire. The outside room is great - only wish we could have packed it in our suitcase and brought it home with us! Couple of words of warning - it really wouldn't be suitable for two couples unless you are very friendly!! And the bed is a small queen - for those used to a king sized bed that can be a problem.

    The property is outstanding!

We were looking for a cozy, peaceful spot to get away for a few days after the holiday, and this delightful poolhouse was the answer to our prayers! It was a roomy one bedroom apartment, above the poolhouse, equipped with the modern comforts - a wi-fi that met the needs of a wired husband, a kitchen that was thoughtfully stocked with cookware, utensils, nice quality kitchen small appliances, and even a generous selection of kitchen seasonings and staples. The poolhouse was decorated tastefully and welcomingly, and the large fireplace kept the main room toasty warm for enjoying the books & games in the living room cabinets, or even just stretching out on the sofas and chairs for TV watching. Both the bedroom window and the kitchen window overlooked wide open fields, and from our second floor apartment windows (and the large deck outside our front door), we enjoyed the picturesque views. The poolhouse was a stone's throw from the owners' lovely home, and we had an opportunity to have an enjoyable conversation with Bill and Jeanne, the gracious hosts/owners. They're well versed in hospitality and pay attention to even the smallest details to ensure a welcoming experience for their guests. The distance between the main house and poolhouse was far enough for privacy, but near enough in case we had any questions or needs. Our hosts shared recommendations of some of their favorite restaurants in the nearby towns, where we enjoyed stellar dinners! They even brought us a dozen eggs from their own hens, which paired nicely with bacon and toast for breakfast! The property has a pool, hot tub, an outdoor living room for guests with a BBQ and pizza oven, outdoor volleyball/badminton court, ping pong table - just enough activities for a relaxing getaway. This place is a treasure - we're already planning a return visit!

Great place for a retreat from the daily routine! This property is as beautifully represented in the listing. It exceeded all our expectations which is in large part due to the hosts who are fantastic! At first I thought it might feel a bit odd vacationing in someone's backyard pool house, but from our arrival to departure it felt like we practically had the place to ourselves. They were friendly and attentive to our needs during our stay but never in our business. They opened up the full use of their beautiful property, pool, game room, pool house and the grounds to us during our stay. And further when our oldest son managed to forget to repack several items he brought on vacation with us, they were more understanding than I would have been and took the time to package it all up nicely and ship it to us. The property is conveniently located on the edge of town which makes it feel like you are in the middle of country while you are on the property, but you will find all the amenities and conveniences of suburbia just a couple miles away. We hope to visit the property again for a break from the SF Bay Area and as a great home base to explore the gold country.

We absolutely treasured our time at the Poolside Cottage. It was a haven of rest after traveling for almost 3 weeks. The open, airy floor plan, and the luxurious decor, from the well-equipped kitchen to the beautiful 2-headed, giant shower was so delightful for us. The views out of all the windows, especially during the heat, when we needed to stay inside more, was so refreshing in an air-conditioned, roomy accommodation. Even a washer and dryer, which we desperately needed by then. Thank you so much Bob and Jeanne. We appreciate what you have to share with others! We look so forward to our next visit!

We recently moved to the area and were waiting for our new house to become available. Our first inclination was to stay at a hotel but with 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby it was going to be expensive and cramped. We found pool house and it was incredible. We ended up staying extra nights (over a week total) because the kids were having so much fun in the pool. We received fresh eggs daily along with some fresh fruit/veggies from the garden. Kids enjoyed the ping pong table, hot tub and pool daily. We had access to a bbq, smoker and brick pizza oven along with a nice kitchen. We live in the area now but plan on coming back this summer for an in-town getaway. Thanks so much for an incredible stay and we look forward to seeing you again.

We stayed at the pool house for three nights and had the most wonderful time. The pool area is beautiful, with everything you could possibly want - loungers, shower room, eating area, BBQ, ping pong table - that you are likely to use the pool house itself just to sleep in. The entire property is beautifully appointed and tastefully furnished. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating - we were visiting family in the area who we invited over to take advantage of the pool - and the fresh eggs and vegetables from the farm were wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property, the only note I'd make is that if you are planning to spend a lot of time indoors (and why would you?), living arrangements might be a little cramped for four adults.

During a mid-summer heat wave where temps were in the 100's, our family found an ideal place to relax and cool off in the foothills around Auburn, CA. The pool house was exactly as described in the ad, and so much more. Everything about the rental, from the linens, to china to the pool and exterior were well maintained and high quality. You could tell the owners had created a space that they themselves would be very comfortable staying in - something that is hard to find in a vacation rental. From our arriving through our departure, we were made to feel at home and even though the owners live adjacent to the pool house, we felt at times as if we had the property all to ourself. This was the perfect spot for our family to enjoy the sun & warmth (we're from Washington). Close enough to town and a shopping area, but secluded enough from the noise and bustle of nearby I-80. Close to downtown Sacramento or a beautiful drive up to Tahoe, the location was perfect. This gem of a rental was a real find and one we intend on returning to whenever visiting family and friends in Northern California.

What a wonderful retreat! We came to Auburn to visit my husband's family in the area. We invited all of the family for a Sunday barbecue and had plenty of room. Everyone enjoyed the spa and used the shower/bathroom facilities downstairs. We used two out the three barbecues, thank you Jeanne for starting the wood for us, had the fireplace roaring and the olympics on the wide screen TV for the ones interested. We had a delicious dinner looking out onto the beautiful farm with an wonderful garden, chickens, entertaining pigs with adorable piglets that helped make us laugh. Even the canadian geese flying into an out of the pastures added to the enjoyment as well as falling asleep with the frogs serenading us. Some of our local family made the comment that even they felt like the were no longer in Auburn and on vacation. When some of us needed a quiet moment we could slip upstairs to our very comfortable accommodations an read by fireside. Highly recommend both units as you have the best of the whole property to yourself. We will definitely will be back. The Vaughan's were the perfect host and help make our stay most enjoyable. Thank you again an we are looking forward to our next visit.

Our family was heading to the Sacramento/Gold Country area to visit the Capitol and learn about the gold discovery history in the area. We started searching VRBO for a location to be our home base for our 8 days away and came across this amazing property. The pictures and the description of the Auburn Cottage Pool House made it a stand out among the rest. After reading the over fifty 5 star reviews, we immediately booked our stay. The rental process that the owners have in place is the best we have used during our many vacations with VRBO, their process allows for immediate booking and payment as long as the dates are showing available on the rental calendar. This sped up the process, as there was no back and forth emails or mailing of a check for deposit or payment. Our rental documents and information from the owners arrived within 48 hrs. We spoke to the owners briefly prior to our arrival and they were very helpful, they even made up the bed in the living room for our 9 yr. old son so it was ready upon our late arrival. The property in Auburn is easy to find, and even more beautiful that the pictures show. The beautiful Cottage Pool House is even more spectacular in person. The owners have truly designed a custom retreat with all the top furnishings. Both beds are extremely comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with every utensil or appliance that you could possibly need and the satellite TV and WIFI allowed us to stay connected. The cottage as well as the entire property is extremely clean and well cared for, the owners were seen many a morning tending to the beautiful pool, spa and grounds. We enjoyed meeting our wonderful hosts Robert & Jeanne and our son absolutely loved playing with their son. They are extremely generous in offering to share their farm eggs and produce, very knowledgeable and sharing with info & recommendations regarding the area and quite hospitable in allowing our son access to all their animals with the opportunity to feed them as well. The owners have truly made every effort to pamper you during your stay, providing luxury spa robes with the added bonus of the ability to turn on and set the spa temperature via the cottage iPhone. The Cottage Pool House was conveniently located, allowing us to sightsee in Sacramento as well as Auburn, Nevada City and Coloma. We absolutely enjoyed every moment of this vacation & would recommend this property to anyone coming to the area. Thank you to our hosts for a great week.

Our friends recommended the Auburn Cottage Pool House to us and it was perfect! Bob and Jeanne have decorated a lovely apartment on the second story of their pool house. The big deck was a wonderful place to take in the views, and the large bathroom and kitchenette were great! We were there for five nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay! We can't wait to visit again and bring our grandchildren to see the 5-acre farm and its animals! They will love the kiddie pool between the spa and main pool. We loved the beautifully maintained gardens around the main house and the pools. Thank you, Bob and Jeanne, for a wonderful experience!

We were moving from a home in the area and our new place wasn't ready yet so we stayed at the pool house simply because it was the closest rental we could find, but I suspect it must also be the nicest little rental in town. We got lucky! It could not have been more perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The shower was spacious. All the linens were of high quality. The apartment was well-appointed and it decorated very nicely. The views of the garden and the pool were stunning. The owners live in the main house and were friendly and accommodating. The location is great - just a couple minute drive to restaurants and grocery and a few minutes more to Auburn's wonderful downtown. The spa was the icing on the cake!

It would take a review the length of a Tale of Two Cities to properly extoll this amazing VRBO. But in shortened order it is a 5 star property that is part of a 5 acre farm. It is exceptional. It is modern and fully equipped. It is spotless. Its location is ideal. The small farm is lovely. Its owners are superb human beings with equally superb children. They accommodate every request with grace. It is, down to its 3 collies, Martha the pig, Bella the cow, and chickens, absolutely a beautiful and perfect place. Auburn has some good restaurants and a restaurant (Edelweiss) that makes 49 kinds of omelettes with 4 eggs. Don't miss Katrina's for breakfast! There are a lot of interesting side trips one can make from Auburn, a very interesting town. You can go east to the upper elevations of the Sierras.. You can go west to Napa Valley, however, you can probably spare yourself that trip and go to the Mt. Vernon Winery not far from the property. Its wines are quite excellent and, at least to us, rival the wineries of Napa for less money. You can go west to Roseville with lots of mall shopping and good restaurants or go all the way to Sacramento. You can go northeast to Nevada City, and find excellent leather goods! If you want to gamble go to the Thunder Bay Casino near Roseville with a top notch Asian restaurant. If you want to take in some real history go to The Folsom Penitentiary and visit its museum and then tour the Folsom zoo, a rescue operation with everything from peacocks to bears. Superb and magnificent understate this find. As diamonds go this is the Hope Diamond of vacation accommodations. ------- Bill and Maggie

I almost hesitate to write a review because we want to be able to return often. It not only had a clean and comfortable environment, it also had a superior attention to detail. Fresh flowers were in the rooms, fresh eggs, milk in the fridge. There is an abundance of storage and a washer and dryer. Our only regret was that the piglets didn't arrive until after our stay. Job well done and we'll see you this summer!

We spend a restful four day vacation in the pool house, We were lucky enough the weather still allowed us to enjoy the amazing salt water pool. The spa, views, and landscaping are just as photographed. The interior is done with an understated elegance with a eye for subtle details. Clean and generously appointed with velvety sheets, lush towels and the most decandent robes imaginable. Comfortable, quiet, with views from every window yet private. The kitchen if very functional and eggs awaited us in the small refer. You will have a great selection of glasses, flatware and dishes to choose from in plating your meals. We hope to return in the future.

We were very pleased with this lovely cottage. it was more spacious than it appeared on the photographs, and the pool is truly lovely, perfect for relaxing yet large enough for a bit of exercise! The cottage is clean and beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas, and excellent kitchen appliances, plenty of storage space, which was important for us as we were staying for 2 weeks. We were spoiled with 'home grown' melons and vegetables, and also a box of eggs from the chickens, in fact, we found that our hosts were very friendly and helpful. We found that there was a lot to do in the area, looking at where the first gold was discovered, wandering around Old Auburn was charming, and we also went a little further afield, Napa Valley is very 'doable' in a day, we also got over to the coast to see Bodega Bay, where Alfred Hitchcock based 'The Birds'. Tahoe was another day out, and we also got to Yosemite - though that was a long day, and in retrospect, we could have stayed overnight. We really enjoyed a day in Old Sacramento, which happily was having an event day, with lots of people dressed up in gold-rush era clothing. We found it a perfect spot to combine sight-seeing and relaxing, and cannot believe that it all passed so quickly. We thoroughly recommend this for foreign visitors who want to experience a slice of American life, relax AND sight-see. Thank you Jeanne and Bob for making our holiday one to remember.

I never write reviews, but feel compelled after having one of the most relaxing vacations I've had in a long time. I agree with all the previous posters. The hosts, Bob and Jeanne, and kids were so welcoming and kind. My mom recently left Orangevale after having lived there for over 40 years and we were looking for something more homey than a motel for our return visits. This was so much more than we expected. My mom LOVED sitting outside, looking at the view, and listening to the chickens and pigs off in the distance. My kids and I loved the pool, spa, and outdoor areas. The cottage was beautiful! We felt like we were in a villa in the European countryside. My 15 year old who complained about not getting to stay at the beach longer wished we could have stayed at the cottage longer. It was also within close proximity to the Rocklin/Roseville area. I made the trip a couple of times one day shuttling everyone around and it only took me about 20 minutes to get down the hill. I could go on and on. Thank you so much Bob and Jeanne! Hope we get to see you again next summer! We miss the cottage already.

We will most likely rent the pool house again on his first birthday to relive the memories. (weather and availability permitting). Pigs, chickens, views, and location are a plus. Soft sheets, thick towels, comfortable decor and FRESH eggs!! Access to pool, spa, barbeque (and wifi) meant we really never had to leave the property, and on a few days we didn't. While in the area we took time to explore a couple of the old town foothill communities, went whitewater rafting and hit a few wineries. Yes, when you read the reviews there is a sense of its too good to be true. But it isn't!! We are SO glad we chose to stay and hope to return...often!

Although what made our stay work is the fact that even though my wife and I got brutally sick for 48 hours during our stay we still made it work. We can't imagine how much harder it would have been had we been in a nondescript hotel or motel room somewhere else. To have a washer & dryer available, a couch by the fireplace, our own kitchen, and a friendly environment made our stay much more tolerable. Will we be back? You bet!

From the start Bob and Jeanne were welcoming and accommodating. After a long drive we were arriving in the evening and the cottage was ready for us and Bob gave us a tour. Towards the end of our stay my wife took sick and we were able to extend our stay a night without any hassle (luckily there wasn't a guest following right after too). The cottage itself is just as the pictures show. Built with great materials, equipped with everything you'd need and comfortable so that we were able to just relax. Exactly what we were looking for. We used the hot tub and bar-b-que on the main level one night, which was very convenient. The washer & dryer in the unit was also fabulous and we made good use of it. We made some short trips around Auburn to visit the small historic downtown area and caught a weekly farmer's market, sampled at one of the local wineries and did some hiking down on the North Fork of the American river. We had a very tasty New Year's dinner at Monkey Cat in Auburn as well. To top it off their lovely daughter took our 3 y.o. daughter (and us) to pet their pigs and chickens several times during our stay which was probably the highlight of her (our) stay. We definitely plan to return, perhaps in the summer to try out the beautiful pool.

The description is 100%, the location is a perfect get away from the hustle and bustle that is so easily accessible if you want it. I wanted a place to stay with peace, quiet and a swim every morning, and that's what I got with so much more! The Pool House is stunning, the design, layout and fittings are superb, so much better than staying in a hotel - AND - you get to see the dogs, pigs, chickens, wild turkeys and humming birds too. Bob and Jeanne made me very comfortble, the house has all the equipment that you need for a lovely holiday, the pool and amenities are beautifully crafted and exceptionally well cared for. My family and friends were made very welcome when they visited, and we all enjoyed the pool, hot tub and table tennis. If you have any questions Bob is only too happy to help. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area, if I could keep it a secret and for myself then I would but that would be a real shame - go and see for yourself. My husband and I rented the poolhouse for our 4th anniversary--a much-needed getaway from all responsibility! The poolhouse provided that for us in spades! You know how sometimes the pictures on sites like these are old or taken in such a way to make things seem bigger or nicer? Not so with this rental. It was even more beautiful in person than in the photos. It's obvious Bob and Jeanne take great care with the property (unlike others I've been to where the 'vacation' property gets the cast-off/hand-me-down furniture); everything in the poolhouse is appointed for the comfort of the guests. My favorite, which you can't see in the pictures, was the shower. There were two shower heads, both pointing into the same corner (so not just a long stall with heads at opposing ends), and dark travertine tiles that gave one the impression of entering a modern cave. I'm trying to figure out how to redo my bathroom at home to make something similar! When we arrived, Bob was there to greet us, and show us the property and amenities. Not only did we have the poolhouse, but we had access to the grill, the smoker, the fire pit, the volleyball court, the pool, the spa, the garden (we were offered to pick through for fresh vegetables). The pool and spa were controlled by an iPhone, so we could set the spa temperature while upstairs, wait for the phone to tell us when it was hot, and only then head downstairs. Bob even offered for us to invite our kids up to play in the pool during the day (we had to make ourselves not take him up on that, because this was a trip for just the two of us, but it was tempting!!). Our only problem came with the kitchen windows, which were uncovered and positioned opposite the TV. When we brought it up with Bob and Jeanne, they not only covered the window for us with butcher block paper, but offered us the option of moving to an apartment over the garage that had the ability to be made much darker (we got to tour that space, and it was just as beautiful as the poolhouse, but without the uber-shower, so we stayed put). My husband and I will definitely be returning...we've talked about renting it for a weekend, just so this time we could bring the kids!

The Wife and I both needed to work on our business strategy for the year, so we headed to the country, to Auburn, California to the most luxurious and well-appointed vacation home we've stumbled upon. The owners, Jeanne and Bob, provided everything we desired: a variety of pleasant work spaces, inspiring surroundings, and a relaxing environment--truly paradise for these two city mice. Design and style-wise, much thought and effort have perfected this gorgeous place. We worked, yes, but we also reclined a lot and luxuriated in sumptuous details: arrival wine, exquisite flower arrangements, a gloriously comfortable bed, and a vast garden in full bloom. We spent work breaks in the pool or the hot tub or playing chaotic games of ping pong. And the birds! They entertained and serenaded us through several very serious meetings and brainstorming sessions. What an unexpected delight! The kitchen appliances and equipment made cooking a joy. The two fireplaces made lousy weather a non-issue. Bob and Jeanne have achieved that perfect balance of of presence and privacy--something many vacation rental owners foul up. We felt we had access if there were questions and we felt we had the privacy we needed to relax.

Wow, now this is a dream get away. You could run away from home with nothing and be completely comfortable. The hosts clearly like the best from the shampoo and wine to the linens and have shared it with their guests. They thought of everything one might need. This would be an amazing find for a safe respite, a honeymoon or a family get together if you rented the carriage house too. It was roomy enough to host a party and I did. There was plenty of everything. All my guests loved it and wanted to return. Besides the roominess of the pool house you have access to all of the grounds, out door fireplace, pool, barbecues and smokers, hot tub, ping pong. The views slowed my heart jmrate. I felt like I was in a glass tree house. Yet, if I wanted privacy, I could close the blinds, light the fire and retreat. I rented the Cottage Pool House for several partial-weeks-in-a-row this Fall while I attended a nearby garden design school. My mom came with me to watch my two year old while I was in class. They had fabulous days visiting with the friendly collies, horses, chickens and piglets that my daughter never wanted to leave. The pool house itself was perfect. Beautifully decorated and really, really well thought out. Bob and Jeanne and their son Walter couldn't have been nicer or more considerate. We looked forward to the great bottle of wine upon our arrival every Sunday and all the fancy soaps and details. The bed and linens were so comfortable that I'm now buying the same bed for my home with the exact same sheets. You should have seen my daughter's face light up when she was plunked down on the fluffy pillows. She just loved it. Everything we needed was there including great toys and kids books in the drawers. The kitchen worked really nicely for us and the living room was a great size. I could spread out and do my drafting homework and there was still room for my mom and daughter to hang out. The view from the bedroom window at sunset was something else. The fans over head, lovely. My husband, who had to stay home and work, got down-right tired of hearing about how nice it was up there when we'd come home between weeks! I'd recommend to anyone - and have. Stay there if you have any reason at all to be in the Auburn area. Great place.

We stayed for two nights in mid-September. The cottage is by far the nicest place we have rented in the Bay Area. It is decorated in a Ralph Lauren/Pottery Barn/Ethan Allen style and every possible need seems to have been considered. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The pool, surrounding grounds, and distant pastures are lovely. I waited awhile to write my review because I wanted to see if my opinion would change after leaving. Not a chance. I adore the cottage and wish I lived there. We are plotting our return and our dog still cherishes his swim across your pool. Thank you for sharing your bucolic paradise with us.

Found the property easily and was very close to several interesting activities and dining. The photos shown could never reflect the overall effect of how beautiful this place was, but they are well done. The property was exceptionally clean and exceded our expectations. Bob and Jeanne were extremely gracious and very personable people as was their family. We would highly recommend this property as it was very pleasureable and relaxing trip for us. It was by far the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. We have plans to return soon. Our favorite resturant was Bootlegers. Thanks again to the Vaughan family for their warm welcome.

We stayed last weekend at this property and couldn't have been more pleased..it was perfect--secluded peaceful, romantic, exceptionally furnished and close to all sorts of great restaurants, wineries, towns and shops as well as all varieties of outdoor activities. The owners are very accommodating, helpful and accessible for any info or needs. The pool and spa are as pretty as the pictures and are programed for your desired temperatures,,,we used the facilities every night looking up at the stars, just gorgeous and hard to leave--we wanted to live there:)!! We certainly would recommend this rental to everyone--we will definitely return when we can.

My wife, dog and I were in town for a wedding in Foresthill. The stay at the pool house was excellent! The condo/pool house is perfect for a get-away; everything is new, beautiful, and comfortable. There is a huge dog run for our much loved pet. The pool and hot tub were thoroughly enjoyed. The overall experience was top-notch. The web-site accurately described the place, the pictures were an accurate representation, and the owners were very friendly. We hope to be a return guest!

I was a guest for 5 days in early August 2010. I was looking for comfort, relaxation, quality pool time while house hunting in the local area and vacationing as well: I found everything here!! The pool house was beautiful and luxurious, sparkling clean, perfectly decorated and the pool and grounds were spectacular. All features were as described or better. It was welcoming, great to be there, hard to leave. Amazing! Bob and Jeanne are very gracious hosts and could not be more polite or interesting. I really had an excellent time and would highly recommend the Auburn Cottage Pool House. I hope to visit again very soon.

We rented this beautiful pool house for 2 days in July to go on a rafting trip (with All Outdoors - another GREAT find!). We had high expectations given the reviews and photos, and the experience was even better than anticipated! The pool house is much roomier than expected and perfect in every way. It was sparkling clean, had air conditioning, a pool and spa right outside the door - even ping pong and volleyball! I have never slept in a more comfortable bed (wow - that is a plush bed!), and I just about fell in love with the shower. This place is heaven on earth, right down to the very high end shampoo and soap they provide! Honestly, I can't recommend any lodging more highly. We plan to return for sure! Thanks for a truly wonderful experience, Bob and Jeanne!

Thank you for renting us the amazing pool cottage! We truly could not have picked a better place to stay with our little dog and two year old son. There were so many amenities that you provided that I cannot begin to say how much I appreciated, but to name a few the pools, trampoline, ping pong table, and sand volleyball cart...We were in heaven! Everything was perfect and we look forward to our next visit! Your family is amazing and it was great to meet you!

WE HAD THE DISTINCT PLEASURE OF BEING JEANNE AND BOB'S FIRST LONG-TERM STAY- FOUR WEEKS TO BE EXACT. ALL WE CAN SAY IS -- IT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH! THE ACCOMMODATIONS CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS THE BEST. NOT ONLY DO YOU RESIDE IN LUXURY, YOU ARE PAMPERED BY THE HOST AND HOSTESS. AS AN EXAMPLE...REALIZING WE HAD EXPERIENCED AN EXHAUSTING 3- DAY DRIVE ACROSS COUNTRY, JEANNE HAD PREPARED A MAGNIFICENT CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WHICH AWAITED US ON THE VERANDA UPON OUR AWAKENING IN THE MORNING. THIS IS EXEMPLARY OF GOING BEYOND EXPECTATION. COMMENTS FROM FRIENDS VISITING US WHILE AT THE COTTAGE INCLUDED REMARKS SUCH AS WHEN CAN I MOVE IN, THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC AND IS DEFINITELY A 5-STAR RESIDENCE, AND HOW DID YOU FIND SUCH A GREAT PLACE? JEANNE AND BOB HAVE DONE A MAGNIFICENT JOB IN EVERY DETAIL OF THIS COTTAGE POOL HOUSE, AND WE CANNOT RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT IT. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AND WILL DEFINITELY RETURN ON OUR NEXT VISIT TO CALIFORNIA.

We spent a relaxing Easter weekend at the Cottage Pool house and were delighted with our experience. The pool house is cozy, comfortable and extremely stylish and well appointed. Sitting in the steaming hot tub in the rain was lovely! Bob and Jeanne provided everything we needed and it was great to explore Gold Country and learn more about this beautiful area. We hope to come back some day!

We were the first guests to stay in the pool cottage. We were so impressed by the detail and extra touches that are built into the rooms. The kitchen and bathroom are amazing. The bed is extremely comfortable and the linens are superb. The views from every room are incredible. We spent our days relaxing by the pool, walking on the trails, amnd having wine and appetizers on the deck. Even more enchanting than the amenities were the hosts. We were made to feel very special and enjoyed talking with them. They saw to it that every need was taken care of - hot tub was ready at night, cold drinks in the fridge, fresh vegetables from the garden. We enjoyed the beauty of the landscaping and rolling hills. We will definitely return many times. Jillian and Jonathan

Me and my girlfriend stayed there for nye and nyd and bob and jeanne were very nice. They gave us a free bottle of champange to toast the new years with. The property is very nice! Bed was extremly comfy as well as the couches! property has an amazing view of horses and farmland. And the jaccuzzi was just a great bonus to enjoy! My only complaint while, I was staying there is that there wasn't enough cooking utensils such as a large skillet or pot to boil pasta. And the satelite cable in the bedroom was not functioning properly one night. But Bob was very accomendating by giving us a prorated discount towards our next stay which, I though was really nice! Overall me and my girlfriend had an incredible time staying there and would recommend the property to friends and family!

Exceeded our expectations! We have stayed at more than a dozen VRBO properties over the years and this by far was the most beautiful accommodation. Bob and Jeanne have provided all the luxury you could find in a 5 star hotel and gone a step further by filling your fridge with beverages and breakfast fixings and your cupboard with snacks. Jeanne also left us wonderful tomatoes picked fresh from her garden. The property is gorgeous. The landscaping is beautiful and as mentioned in other comments the pool is HUGE. Not only do they have a dog run where we could have kept our dog Lucy if we left the property but since the property is fenced in Lucy had the run of the place. They even provided dog treats to make Lucy feel at home. This place is a must for people looking to enjoy what the area has to offer or to just relax like we did and never have to leave. Bob and Jeanne have created a tranquil, idyllic and most welcoming environment for their guests and we look forward to enjoying this property again.

Thank you Bob and Jeanne for such a wonderful experience! My stay was incredible. The pool house itself is amazing and the owners have sparred no expense - molding, two fireplaces, marble, granite, hardwood floors, dual showerheads - it’s absolutely gorgeous! The pool is one of the largest I’ve seen and is perfectly clear and the spa is wonderful especially at night. Bob and Jeanne were fantastic hosts and even had cold Diet Coke (my favorite drink) stocked in the refrigerator upon my arrival. The place was immaculate and was prepared like a high-end hotel room with every convenience. I travel frequently for both business and pleasure and it is rare to find a place so beautiful and hosts as thoughtful. I was also impressed with Auburn, which has plenty of activities including hiking trials, horseback riding, and wine tasting. I can’t wait to come back again!

My wife and kids and I have made multiple trips to Auburn to visit family over the years. We are always disappointed with the lack of nice accommodations in the area. Our problem has been solved. We went searching for vacation rentals and/or B&Bs in the area, and Voila. The outdoor area is wonderful: the pool is larger than life, while the hot-tub is nestled close to the bungalow and patio/BBQ area for a perfect 'play in the day', 'relax in the evening' experience. The bungalow itself is like a small, high-end apartment - perfectly equipped, very clean, very comfortable. And yes, plasma TV and Wireless Internet. The hosts were gracious and eager to make our experience flawless. I asked where the nearest Starbucks was located, and within 30 minutes we had freshly ground coffee and a french press in the kitchenette. While the area is packed with things to do (rafting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, iron-man racing if you like), the historical significance of Placer County is unmatched - this area is the focal point of the 1849 Gold Rush - my wife and I spend many hours visiting Old Town Auburn and the surrounding gold country. Clearly the owners (Robert and Jeanne) are in it for their passion to provide a perfect vacation experience and NOT to make money on this property - they can't be. Before we left, my brother, who lives locally, said he will rent this property for a quick weekend getaway for he and his wife - especially for the pool and barbecue area. My family and I will be back whenever we visit the area - there is no place of better value and stress-free demeanor in the area.
