Our group of 8 (6 adults, 2 children) stayed here for 5 days during Boston Marathon Weekend. It was the perfect spot for us. Charming home and neighborhood. Lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance. (The kids especially enjoyed the ice cream at JP Licks!) Easy access to bus and train lines. Nice well-equipped kitchen. Lovely deck and backyard. Since we had a rental car, the parking spot in front was a huge plus! The owner (Jane) was very friendly and helpful.
This house is perfect for someone with a disability that requires them to stay in a wheelchair. When I started looking for a house near Boston that had accessibility, I found it to be a daunting task. Then I found this house. There is a driveway, so you do not have to find a parking place on the street to exit the car. There is a nice ramp to the back entrance, there are two bedrooms on the mail level that are totally accessible as well a a perfect bathroom set-up. The location to Boston was great!. We used the bus line one day, but we figured out Lyft was just as cheap with the amount of people we had. The grocery, liquor stores are within walking distance from this home. There was a great Scottish pub that was recommended in the house literature. It was a great place to eat and enjoy each other. We even enjoyed visiting with the owner. Most locations in Jamaica Plains had the ability to get a wheelchair into their establishment. You just had to ask. They would come out with a metal ramp that fit their facility. This house is perfect for 7 people.
The owner was easy to work with and very responsive. The home was located within walking distance of many nice restaurants in the area. The home was air conditioned, which was great for the warm weather we encountered. An observation that we all agreed would have made our visit nicer: -Nicer/newer linens and comforters. There were stains on many of the bedding linens. -Removal of old food from the Refridgerator. We were surprised to find a half eaten meal in the fridge. -The home is cluttered with old magazines and nick/nacks. It didn’t feels like we were paying to stay at this home, but like we dropped by for a surprise visit. All said, we enjoyed our stay and simply looked past the clutter.
