We prefer no shoes in the house and that beach-goers wash off with the outdoor shower before entering our home. Thank you.

We rented this home for our family to gather for our daughters wedding weekend in Duxbury. I texted the host upon arrival regarding the condition of the house as it was filthy to find out It was actually cleaned. The place was so grimy. There’s black mold on the master bathroom ceiling not to mention the condition of the shower . Grime, mold, rotten valves and grout. The deck is rotting & well as the table and chairs outside. Sheets and towels are old bleach stained and/ or permanently stained. The owner was constantly on the property. The 1st day of our rental he rolled up to mow the lawn at 8 AM. I happened to be outside in my PJs with my dog and was mortified. He was on the property the whole time during our rental. He actually had the fortitude to urge me extra for my dogs . Checkout on our last day was at 9:00am. He was open to a later checkout for a fee. Bottom line... Old and charming is wonderful, this is not that . To conclude, my brother in-laws sister rented this house last year and had a similar experience. When we all put 2 and 2 together realizing it was the same house and we rented, “ the dump.” This is an owner clearly taking advantage of visitors.

Great backyard. Responsive host. No common home away amenities.

We enjoyed Nathan’s property but echo previous reviews that it could use a good deep clean. The light fixtures above the island were covered in dust and there was remnants of garbage underneath the trash can. Nathan was very responsive when we ran out of dish soap and toilet paper but it was discouraging that this would even be an issue for a property at this price level. There was also only 1 trash bag for the weekend so we used stop and shop bags instead. The house itself is great and slept 8 adults comfortably. It could fit even more if you double up. The outdoor shower is a great addition but bring all of your own toiletries. No soap or shampoo provided. The backyard is excellent for yard games. Plenty of space for whiffle ball, corn hole, etc... There’s a small grill that works well. ~25-30 min walk to a beautiful beach. Well worth the walk. The property has a ton of charm and just needs some TLC to go from a 3 to a 5.

Historic home in a beautiful neighborhood

There were some positives and negatives to our visit at this property- Positives: Beautiful neighborhood of very fancy homes/mansions on or near the water. Large backyard Updated kitchen Dog-friendly - the best and most important positive for us Negatives It is a stretch to say this is a 20min walk to the beach. Even if you park on “this side” of the bridge it is a 10-15 min walk, so I’d say it’s more like 30 min walk to the beach. There is a huge security deposit that would have stopped me from renting if I’d had another feasible option in the area. (A positive was that this was refunded promptly) The house was not clean to our standards- the owner remedied the obvious things but it always then makes me question everything else when you see obvious dirt overlooked. The sheets had holes and lots of pilling. The towels were notably old. There is a picture of a piano but the keys stick and it is not able to be played. There were no courtesy toiletries which is something I’ve always found at other places we have stayed. Overall, it fit our needs for the space and number of people including our dog. The kids had fun running around the yard and my dad enjoyed the famous Duxbury oysters while the vegan members found something in relatively nearby Plymouth. We enjoyed walking or running around the neighborhood, but there were some disappointments. A good cleaning service and new sheets and towels would do a lot.

    Lovely, easy, perfect location

The house was lovely and clean. Charming and old-fashioned. Best perk by far was the outside shower, wonderfully refreshing after a day at the beach. Nathan was responsive to every need and our dog loved the expansive yard. We were a 20-minute walk from the beach and we walked the Powder Point bridge daily. A special place and a wonderful two weeks!

    Great Location.

Beautiful area for walking/running, close to amenities, beach access was great! AC in 3 out of 4 bedrooms was welcomed but bring extra fans if really hot. Backyard was good for family games. Small grill outside but additional grill in kitchen. Owner was super responsive.

This home was just a savior to us. We had some work being done to our home and this made the transition so much simpler. Everything was in clean working order, the location was very close to the town center and the schools for our three girls. If we need to find a temporary home again, we will look no further! Thank you!!

Not really set up for guests.

Check with the owner to see if he has resolved the following issues: only coffee maker was a percolator no instructions for TV; couldn't figure out how to get content; did not appear to have cable had to ask for kayak (it was not on property as described, but owner brought it over; not easy to figure out where to put it in the water, though; a map would be helpful) beds were not made, just linens laid out for us to make beds towels and sheets were old and didn't match In addition, note that there are two sets of connecting bedrooms; you have to walk through one bedroom to get to another. The largest bed was a queen. If you leave the bathroom door open when you shower, the smoke alarm will go off. The house is old and charming and the floors are beautiful. The owner asks that renters not wear shoes in the house. Owner was very available by text to answer questions.

    Great home and rental expereince

This beautiful antique farmhouse on Powder Point was a wonderful place to live. The proximity to Duxbury Beach, Snug Harbor, Duxbury Schools and Millbrook made it an ideal location. The house itself has so much character and charm and is situated on an expansive lawn. We have had such a good experience renting this home and highly recommend it to others looking for either a short term summertime vacation or a longer term rental. In both cases the benefits of its location and charm of this house are outstanding.
