This house is a one story 2000 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 bath lagoon home on a cul-du-sac that was completely updated and remodeled 6 years ago. It is situated on a very quiet street with neighbors to the side as the width of the lagoon makes a rear fence unnecessary. You will see a lawn, trees and shrubs, a dock, water and water birds. There are covered and wind protected sitting areas in the front and back. The extensively landscaped gardens, classic redwood fencing and lagoon offers privacy, beauty and serenity seldom found in urban homes.
The interior consist of a formal living room and open floor area that includes dining area, kitchen and family room. Granite counter tops, SS sink and appliances and a large island are found in the fully equipped kitchen area. Grohe fixtures are used throughout the house, The 3 bedrooms with queen size beds are carpet with the designated kid’s room having the continuous cherry hard wood flooring. The baths have high end porcelain bowls and the whole house is set off with crown molding. The interior environment is quiet and very stable throughout the year due to radiant floor heating, heavily insulated walls/ceilings and the perfect Bay Area weather.
Maximum occupancy 8, an add charges $ 50 per person per night will be applied for parties over 4 guests
This was our 1st time traveling to Alameda. Our actual destination was San Francisco but I was concerned about the parking so we decided to explore other alternatives. And thank goodness that we did because this home was truly a gem. The view was spectacular! I mean breathtaking. The kitchen was very large and the bedrooms easily accommodated our family of 6. You'll find restaurants and groceries within 2 miles and you can walk to the park and the beach. The drive to San Francisco was about 30 mins. Totally worth it. Loved it so much and we hope to be back!
Lagoon House was exactly what we needed - beautiful and quiet with wonderful breezes. Both the front yard and back yard were also beautiful and relaxing areas to hang. Our host was very helpful as we were trying to figure out if it was the right place for us (which it was). The house had everything we needed and more. We would love to come back, and I highly recommend it.
I stayed here for six weeks during a trial at the downtown Oakland courthouse. The house is clean, bright, and open; the yard is small but lovely and well maintained; and the canal with its ducks and geese is a bonus. Overall the property is nicer than in the pictures online. It is a perfect place for an extended stay, and very convenient to everything in the Bay Area. Nice to have the park and beach two short blocks away, and stores just down the road. Overall a wonderful experience.
The house was as described. A lovely house and location.
This is a beautiful home. Very well appointed with great kitchen appliances and all the comforts of home. Very quiet inside and outside around the neighborhood. Surrounding are incudes shops, restaurants and parks all within walk or quick (1.5 mile away). Owner was attentive and interested in our stay.
It's a lovely house - very comfortable, peaceful, and user-friendly. And it's 2 blocks from the Alameda beach! The owners were very flexible and accommodating. It was perfect for a family gathering, with lots of kitchen counters for cooking and a fabulous back deck with shaded picnic table on the lagoon.
Perfect spot for family gathering. Beautifully decorated, extremely clean and a wonderful kitchen for meal prep.
The property was quite lovely. It was the perfect space for family to gather after my sister’s memorial.
My husband and I spent 5 nights at this charming Alameda Property while visiting family members in the Bay Area. The house was very clean upon arrival . The outdoor space overlooking the Canal was perfect for outdoor meals, and the spacious kitchen is updated and well laid out. The home is quiet and in a safe feeling neighborhood two blocks from the park with paths along the Bay.
We were a group of 6 Navy Veteran women on our annual girls trip. Our original stay in Santa Rosa got canceled because of the fires. This host was gracious enough to accept our stay at the last minute. Everything about the property is exactly as pictured. It is truly a fabulous place!! We enjoyed the ease of checking in and thd great communication with the owners. This place is a must stay. I can only hope we can stay here in the future. Thanks again!!!!!! Our group of 6 thanks you!!!
We planned this vacation due to our limited option for travelling due to having 5 year old and 10 months old baby during Covid. Our friends who joined us have a 2 year old . We booked for three nights, First night was nice and cool so went well. Second night it got very hot at night due to the extreme heat that was going on. There were three fans in the home, one of them worked well other two barely worked. Third day we made the decision to leave as it was getting very hot in the house even with all three fan running. On the day of move out I emailed the owner letting her know we were leaving early. She called short while and spoke with my wife and had a friendly conversation. Fast forward a week goes by and I received a call where owner was rude and short: She called stating that we moved the furniture and that it is not her cleaners job to move furniture. My response to that was: Yes our guest had moved a mattress twin bed so they could have their daughter sleep in the same room safely. I did confirm with friends that they did put back the mattress back. She then claimed there were writing on the couch which I don't agree with as none of us had any pens and both kids were never left alone and were with one of the parents all of the time. Only think I would do differently next time is to make a video of the place before and after as I did not anticipate being blamed for something I know we did not do.
House was great... no air conditioning
What a beautiful place! Perfect for sight seeing in San Fran and then coming home to the tranquil and beautiful lagoon! Our stay was wonderful, as was Annegret’s hospitality, checking in to ensure our arrival went smoothly and then again to see if our stay was enjoyable. We will definitely come back again:)
Alameda Island is like a small town surrounded by the San Francisco metropolis. Situated on a man made lagoon, it was greatly entertaining to watch the waterfowl. Comfy beds, deep soaking tub, well appointed kitchen. It was a great place to escape the Upper Midwest winter and visit relatives on the East Bay.
Great place close to the city.
We love the Lagoon House! This is our second time renting here and our recent stay was as enjoyable an experience as it was for us several years ago. The Lagoon House is a beautiful, roomy, quiet home that is great for 6-8 people. The house is well maintained and clean (inside and out) and has a great kitchen! The owners are very kind and attentive and do a great job to make sure guests are comfortable and have everything they need. We hope to be back for a third time!
The house is very nice and the setting is beautiful. the 4 bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen is great.
This house was perfect for a long weekend coming to town to watch a Raider game and see the area attractions. Great location by the beach and good access to the bay. The house was perfect. The was everything that we needed for the weekend. Will definately take a look when we come back. Thanks again!
Myself and my 2 best girlfriends met for a 5 day Bay Area get-away this October. The Lagoon house was exactly what we needed, it was beautiful, had plenty of space, was clean and in a great area. We wanted to stay out of the city a little bit so Alameda was perfectly located for our day trips around the Bay Area. Annegret was easy to get ahold of and a pleasure working with. Would definitely stay again!
Beautiful property, very well maintained. Plenty of space for our family. Large kitchen perfect for preparing meals when we ate in. We enjoyed the Lagoon views in the morning while sipping our coffee. We had a wonderful weekend!
Gorgeous and super clean house. Nice neighborhood with easy parking
This house was perfect for our trip! The neighborhood was quiet and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck and enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the lagoon. The house was beautiful inside as well and everyone had plenty of room. Annegret kept in touch to make sure we had everything we needed and was a great host. We would definitely stay here again!
We loved our stay at this house. Plenty of street and driveway parking. Clean, well equipped house, especially nice kitchen and connected living area. Well maintained house and yard. Loved the lagoon. The children really enjoyed the narrow paths on the sides of the house for running around and surprising people. (Suggestion for owners: needs more towels and sheets. We use top sheets and I like to cover furniture I consider vulnerable when children are around. We found the locked thermostat at 65 degrees too hot. Also, a big improvement would be a gate on the access to the lagoon..)
Very easy to be there.
We are very happy with the rental we were comfortable
My son was attending skateboard camp outside San Fran so we needed an place to stay. We found the Lagoon house and so happy we did. We spent a lot of time relaxing as a family. We don't get that at home in Miami. Her place is clean, peaceful and has all the amenities we needed. So blessed to have stayed there.
We were two families and the space was perfect, the location was amazing and Alameda is so convenient to visit all the tourist sights in SFO but allows you to have some quieter time!
Our stay in Alameda at the Lagoon House couldn't have been more perfect. The home is clean, bright, and cheery. The back patio and the gardens are lovely. We spent time sitting on the patio, visiting, playing cards, or just taking in the beautiful scenery. It is conveniently located two blocks from the beach and park. The kitchen is nice and big so there is lots of room for family cooking and visiting. I can't say enough good things about our stay. Everything was perfect! Thank you for opening your home to us.
We had a wonderful experience staying at this lovely home in Alameda. This was our first time to California and we can't wait to go back. This house was the perfect location for us to have our adventures from. We spent several days exploring San Francisco, Yosemite, Napa Valley, and Alameda. We had our two adult sons and our teenage daughter with us. This house gave us plenty of room. It is very spacious. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home.
We had a problem booking with VRBO because there system wasn't taking payment and it took about 4 hours with Annagret. The house is tastefully decorated and highly functional. The kitchen is fantastic and 5 people had no problem in the house, we could of had 8 stay with no problem. Super clean and a very quiet neighborhood. It is the best place we have ever stayed in more than 15 experiences.
This home in Alameda was very well maintained. It's convenience next to Oakland airport worked well for us. It was very well equipped in the kitchen, and many stores were nearby for anything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the house was cool and comfortable. Much better than any hotel capability. The gardens were amazing, and the house was serene and peaceful in a quiet neighborhood. Park and jogging trails were just right around the corner. I would recommend this house over any hotel type arrangement in the Bay area.
Great property in a great location. Easy to get around.
Our weekend at the Lagoon House was just wonderful! We were very impressed, as the photos online do not do it justice. The house was larger than expected and is simply a lovely home in a beautiful location. We had all the amenities we needed for a great stay. The owner was very pleasant from the beginning and available for any questions we had. I am about as picky as a person can be - and I was happy and comfortable from the moment we arrived. We would be fortunate to stay in this beautiful home again someday!
We really enjoyed our stay in Alameda. The house is spacious, quiet and well stocked with everything you’d need. We drove into San Francisco and also took the BART one day. The ferry is another option but we didn’t get around to it. Alameda is further away from San Francisco than we’d have ideally liked but the space you get and the price you pay for accommodation in Alameda reflects that. Would recommend this house.
The property was exactly as shown; had excellent amenities, especially in the kitchen. Exceptionally clean and quiet.
This house was just perfect for us! The neighborhood was safe and quiet. The grounds around the house were over the top! The house itself was beautiful! The kitchen was just amazing!!! The owner was available by phone should I need anything, which I didn’t! Great rental!!
Nice view of the waterfront with several different species of ducks. Plenty of room -and rooms! Flowers, lemon & lime trees in the small yard areas. Decorated in very good taste; lovely all around.
Lovey location, and home. Could not have been better! Made for a great holiday with our family.
Great home. Central to everything, clean, comfortable, had everything we needed. Great view from backyard. Owner was so easy to work with and very responsive to our questions. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect house for our trip!
What an amazing rental property! Our two families of four stayed at Lagoon House for 5 nights. We were very comfortable, had plenty of room for relaxation, and felt pampered by our surroundings. The kitchen is large and well equipped for food preparation. The bedrooms were good sized and had lots of closet space. The living spaces had plenty of room for our group. The outside space was a wonderful place to drink our morning coffee and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings. Additionally, there is a public beach just a 5 minute walk from the house. The property owners were very available for questions and extremely pleasant to work with; they even provided lots of suggestions for getting around and enjoying Alameda. We will most certainly hope for availability at the Lagoon House the next time our family gathers in the Bay Area!
The lagoon house was the perfect house for our needs. The setting was beautiful, it was close downtown Alameda and a short 45 minute drive to San Fransisco. If we visit again, this home will definitely be our first choice.
You will not regret renting this home. It is beautiful inside, and the landscaping is very nice. The location is just perfect if you want to take a walk on the beach which is about 1/4 mile away or take a short ferry ride to San Francisco. We rented bikes for a nice ride along the bay. It is also around 2 miles from a nice shopping center if you just want to take the day to shop. Our family enjoyed it!
This home is in a lovely, quiet area, 1/2 mile easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Sitting on the back patio drinking coffee, visiting, and watching the ducks was a great way to start the day. The home is more beautiful than the pictures show and contains anything you will need for a comfortable stay. Words cannot describe how awesome this home is. I would highly recommend staying here if you are traveling to the Bay area.
The Lagoon House was a perfectly serene spot for our family’s stay in the area. It was conveniently located with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. The owner of the home was gracious and helpful and available for communication. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking in the area!
The Lagoon House was great. All accommodations were clean and ready for us upon our arrival. The backyard sure was nice in the evenings and in the morning. It was nice waking up to the water out back. We will be back. Thanks
Beautiful setting, well designed and appointed, with a gracious zen ambiance.
Everything about this house is amazing. The location, view, the home itself is perfect. Full kitchen - we cooked a lot....the back patio overlooking the Lagoon - perfect. All in all, I just wanted to move in! The owner is amazing. She is hands on and you can stay in touch with her so there is not a question that can't be answered. BEAUTIFUL!!!
This beautiful lagoon house was a perfect place for my family spending four nights. We were there for my daughter's move in to Berkeley. The bedrooms, living room, and kitchen were spacious enough for four adults. Big shopping malls were 5 minute-drive away. We enjoyed trips to Silicon Valley, Napa Valley, and other wonderful places not far from this house. Thanks Anne for renting me this gorgeous home.
The home is very comfortable and extremely well taken care of. The access to the home was easy to get to and close to everything my family was needing to do. We loved our stay and we very much enjoyed the experience of renting a home thru this service. We would highly recommend this place to out friends and relatives
Super nice place. Top quality home with a great kitchen and sitting area. Beds were very comfortable. Owner helped us with questions. Looking forward to staying again next year.
The Lagoon House in Alameda is absolutely awesome. It fit our needs perfectly for our family reunion. The house is in great condition, very clean, roomy and super comfortable. The location is very convenient and easy to find. It was sunny during our stay so we were able to take advantage of enjoying the outdoor yards. You really feel like you are staying in a luxury house with all of the amenities. This is a must stay if you are visiting the East Bay. The owners are really great and very helpful. 5 stars all the way around!
The house was perfectly located for our reason to visit the bay area. We especially liked the large kitchen and dining table. We were able to access the San Francisco ferry to cross the bay to AT&T park to watch a baseball game, get to a BART station to attend graduation ceremonies at UC Berkeley, and drive to Muir Woods to hike through the tall trees. All the beds were comfortable and having coffee on the deck overlooking the lagoon where the ducks and geese swam was a great way to start the morning. After the graduation we came back to the house and barbecued on the deck with our family and relaxed and enjoyed each others company. We recommend this house highly for anyone visiting SF or Oakland. It was ideal.
We love this house. Stayed in it many times and will keep returning. Everything is just what you need for relaxing and comfortable stay in the Alameda/Oakland Area.
The Lagoon House was a wonderful escape for our family each day of our vacation. The house itself was beautiful with comfortable beds, hot water and all the kitchenware needed. Each person in my family of six felt that they each had there own space in the home. Daily coffee on the deck with the ducks and the easy walk to the beach and park were definite highlights. Grocery store and restaurants were very close as well. I would recommend the Lagoon House to any family looking for a comfortable home on vacation outside of the hustle and bustle of San Franciso.
This is an exceptional house, modern and well equipped. It sits right on the canal where ducks and geese abound. We found the house exactly as described and communication with the owners was easy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you for the use of your beautiful Lagoon Home. We loved our stay and really appreciated how well maintained the home is. I highly recommend this home to anyone considering staying in Alameda. The home is immaculate, well maintained, well stocked and comfortable.
Wonderful home to be with family and relax. Extremely soundproof. Elegant furnishings with multiple social areas inside and out. Loved the backyard that ends at the lagoon. Plenty of wildlife activity to watch: geese, ducks, hummingbirds, etc. Anne is great to work with and we've already booked for a future CA visit. Near the large shopping complex but also Park Street.
Great location, quite neighborhood and very clean. Could not have asked for more, perfect for family stay.
Had a nice stay at the Lagoon House. We appreciated the quiet and well located home. It's in a very nice neighborhood - much better than the rest of Oakland. Was an easy drive to the Oakland airport and baseball stadium. Kitchen is very nice. Highly recommend it.
We came to visit with our children and grandchildren. The home is beautiful. The neighbors were friendly. The location was very convenient to our daughter, convenient to the local attractions and close to the bay. Will stay here again!
We can only give the very best recommendations of the house. Plenty of space, decorated beautifully. Close to the Beach. Nice garden and cute Lake. Room enough for our family of six (3 generations).
We enjoyed the peaceful, clean and spacious Lagoon House for 5 days while we attended two opera performances at the SF Opera House. The house was lovely and easy to live in. Last week was very hot in the Bay Area but it was 75 degrees with breezes in Alameda--a wonderful place to have chosen for hot weather. The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms had lots of closet space and there are two beautiful bathrooms. The lagoon was fun for the kids watching the water birds (no swimming in it though) and added a beach vacation feel to our stay despite being in the middle of a busy metropolitan area. Kitchen was well equipped and laundry room had easy access. The owner was a pleasure to work with and her manager was very responsive to the one request we made to replace a broken can opener. Lake Merritt BART and the Bay Ferry were 10 minutes by car. Alameda seems like a retreat away from the busy freeways and city bustle with an old time feel to the city. Lots of good restaurants and parks. We would love to stay here again!
Property was clean and spacious. It was quiet and had all the amenities we needed! I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay on Alameda!
My family stayed in the Lagoon House for few days and they love it! The house is not only beautiful but spotlessly clean, very comfortable, quiet, walking distance from the beach or anywhere in the island. Thank you Anne and Alan.
We (a group of 6 adults) stayed at the Lagoon House for our son's graduation from UC Berkeley and it was perfect! The location was great - in addition to spending time in Berkeley, one day we took the ferry from Alameda to SF (very convenient), one day we toured Healdsburg and surrounding wineries, and one day we visited Armstrong Woods. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Trabocco, based on Anna's and other guests' recommendations. The house is very charming, with plenty of room for everyone. I would also highly recommend Whisk Cake Creations if you are looking for a special occasion cake - we ordered a graduation cake and it was very fresh, with quality ingredients, and as a bonus, they delivered! Overall, this is a lovely house, in a great neighborhood, and Anna was wonderful to work with. We loved our stay and would definitely return!
The Lagoon House is a magical, serene escape from everyday noise and hectic living! My family and I enjoyed every minute of this spotless house. The quality and care for the home speak for themselves and at every turn tell you what a wonderful home the Lagoon House is. I would highly recommend anyone looking in the east Bay to stay here!
When I book with VRBO, I try to find really quiet locations. This house in Alameda was perfect; I think it was the quietest and most peaceful place I have ever rented anywhere. It was a quick ferry ride to SF and we drove a couple of times too (hint: take the on/off tour in SF and park around stop 8 or 9 which was $6 for 4 hours on the street and jump on the tour – Costco even had the Explorer Pass for extra savings). The bedroom with the bunk bed pictured is now twin beds which was great. The house was larger than the photos show. We are a family with teenage kids, and everyone had their own space. I would definitely recommend the house – enjoy!
We were pleased with this rental & definitely would stay there again. Perfect home away from home. Only thing that could have made our stay easier would be baby gear--maybe a pack & play & a high chair could be kept in the garage? No complaints though. It is a sweet house with a delightful garden. Close walk to the park. I highly recommend it!
Traveling with my wife, mother, two teenage boys and a pre-teen daughter we needed plenty of space and the Lagoon House delivered. This was the perfect house for our spring break trip to San Francisco and the Bay area. The house is even better than the pictures with a ton of space to spread out and feel at home. The Lagoon House is located in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood close to shopping, dining and exploring. Easy access to San Francisco via the ferry or a pretty easy drive to everywhere from this location as long as you plan accordingly and don't attempt to travel during peak morning and evening commute times. Alameda is a great option to escape the busy city and offers great restaurants, parks and night life. My family truly enjoyed the Lagoon House, if you are thinking about staying in the bay area, don't let this one slip away.
For a change, the house turned out to be better in real life than pictures on VRBO! Immaculate condition and decorative details made us want to stay longer.
This relaxing Lagoon House was so perfect for us on our trip to visit family in Alameda. We are a family of four (Kids 9 & 11), and were able to have our Mom stay with us a few nights so we could all be comfortable. The open living room/kitchen area and large (beautiful) dining table were a plus. We ordered in almost every night, and the kitchen area was so accommodating. The view of the canal and all the ducks/birds were fun to watch. I loved the view of the tall palms over the houses opposite the canal at night. Easy to find and a short drive from a major shopping area. We walked to the park one morning with the kids and strolled the trail along the beach. Beautiful views and friendly people. We chose this trip to day-trip it to Sonoma 2 days. Leaving around 9am, It was an easy 1 hr 30 mins (or less) to see our first vineyard along the way. We had a great time both days. We were so happy to come home every night. Everyone wound down in their own space. Quiet area..relaxing at night and in the morning on back patio. The water pressure here is very strong! Bedrooms are more than ample. Setting up the rental on short notice was easy and the communication was very reliable. Thank you so much for sharing your home...we hope to return very soon.
Stayed there with 3 coworkers for a long out of town work week - It was so nice to go home to such a beautiful warm home to unwind. Home owner was amazing and easy to reach - I will definitely stay here again - maybe for vacation next time!
This was our second stay at this beautiful lagoon house. My daughter has been living in Alameda for 4 years now. We spent the week of Thanksgiving here again so we could visit with her. The open floor plan and large, well- appointed kitchen allowed us to cook and enjoy each other's company at the same time. It was also nice enjoying the serene lagoon and watching the ducks while having our morning coffee. It really felt like our second home.
My family loved this beautiful lagoon house. Lots of room to spread out, a gorgeous kitchen , two good bathrooms - really all you could want including a caring responsive owner even if she lives in Hawaii ( There is a friend you can call for local emergencies etc., We had no need to bother her) . My German nephew took lots of pictures because he thinks it would be the perfect house when his family visits. You will love the calming patio after the busyness of SanFrancisco. Even the floors are beautiful. Uber can get you anywhere but do take the ferry at least once.
Four girl friends gathered last week for three nights at this lovely, clean, well located, comfortable lagoon home in charming Alameda. We were thrilled to each have our own bedroom with comfortable beds, and clean, well stocked bathrooms. Each morning, we walked along the beach, down to the shopping center, and home again for coffee and breakfast in the well equipped, large kitchen. The location of this house is great for walking to cute shops and restaurants in Alameda, as well as hopping on the ferry to San Francisco for the day. We enjoyed cocktails, and appetizers on the patio by the lagoon before venturing out for dinner at Tribocca (excellent). It was fun to curl up on the cozy living room couches to chat or read. We so appreciated Anna's availability and flexibility, as we firmed up our plans. She was a pleasure to work with, and we hope it won't be too long before we can visit again!
We absolutely loved staying at your rental! The house was beautiful, well furniture and clean. There was amble space for our family both inside and out. Our family came from the United States and Europe for a family wedding and this house worked out perfectly for us. We spent a lot of time making meals in the large kitchen and enjoying these meals together inside at the dining table. We also utilized the grill outside on two evenings, eating both inside and outside on the picnic table. The house, with four bedrooms, was perfect for our four couples. The owner was very nice, most helpful and readily available with answers to questions. I would love to rent this house again and recommend highly recommend it to others seeking a rental in Alameda.
This house was perfect for our family of four plus two kid-friends. Everyone had plenty of space. The kitchen was well-appointed. The house was modern and spotlessly clean. Next time we visit the Bay Area, I will definitely try to rent Annegret's house again.
Seven adults and a teenager stayed at the house and all had a wonderful time. Two more adults and their two children stayed nearby and we all got together almost all the time for a wonderful family reunion. Lagoon House provided the perfect place for family story telling, lots of laughter, good food and reconnecting with a quiet living room, busy family room/dining room/kitchen and a lovely patio looking over the Lagoon. Alameda was the activity center and The Hornet and St. George Spirits (for the grown-ups) were both favorite destinations. Friday night at the Oakland Museum of California and Saturday night dinner at Pasta Pelican followed by ice cream at Tucker's convinced everyone from Virginia, Indiana and Washington State that they really want to return soon. We all hope that Lagoon House will be available to welcome us back!
The perfect family spot; on a quiet street and ample parking. With my son graduating, we were able you accommodate eight of us (Grandparents to Grandkids). The large open kitchen family room made for great conversations and reconnecting. Very clean and well appointed, made if feel like a home and a place to rejuvenate after being in the city all day for ceremonies.
This house is a true gem. Very friendly and welcoming, large, wonderful outdoor space. Amazing kitchen. We cooked most meals there since we were traveling with children. Everything is very new and comfortable. I hope we get a chance to stay here again! Minutes from grocery stores, easy drive to BART station and Oakland (which is an amazing place to visit). Alameda also has a bustling main st with lots of activities and restaurants.
We stayed 4 nights at Annegret's place and it has been the best house we stayed during this trip where we stayed in 4 places. The house is wonderful and tastefully decorated - the kitchen is really amazing with all your need and the dining room table faces the wonderful lagoon view. The bathroom is well stocked with towels and hairdryer. It is also located conveniently in Alameda in a relatively quiet area. Annegret was also helpful.
For 3 nights we stayed in this wonderful house with the family. We enjoyed the ambience very much and loved the view as we sat by the lagoon. We wil be booking again for sure. Best wishes, your German guests
This property is a lovely, tastefully decorated home which easily accommodated 4 adults and 2 kids. There is a peaceful patio facing the lagoon with a table so that you can have meals outside. You can easily take a 30 minute ferry to San Fran. We hope to stay here again in the future. It was rejuvenating.
Our group of 6; two adult sons, one adult girlfriend, teenage daughter, my husband and myself, had a very relaxing stay. We found Anne's beautiful home to be very clean, comfortable and stylish. Everything was as described in the listing and better. We had a very positive experience for the 4 nights we stayed. The key code we were given got us into the home and also allowed us to lock up and leave without fear of misplacing the key. The kitchen is beautiful and large with everything you might need to use for meal preparation and serving. Lots of nice large bath towels, excellent water pressure in the showers (bring your own bath soap), laundry machines, and comfortable queen beds in 3 of the bedrooms (bunk beds in the 4th). We didn't use public transportation since we had a rental car. I do wish we had simplified information on use of the ferry. There is a schedule for the ferry in a kitchen drawer, but we did not take the time to thoroughly review it other than the times of departures. East End Pizza/Bar in the downtown area had a simple/classy atmosphere with locally produced spirits and take-out food orders available. We toured the USS Hornet only 2 miles from the home, an interesting tour if you are into history and WWII. The beach was a short walk away with tons of wind surfers out on the water. I believe there was a rental shop for those wanting to give it a try. Over-all excellent experience!
This is a very CLEAN, BEAUTIFUL, WELL CARED for Home kept up with LOVE for ALL to ENJOY!!!! The backyard/patio with the lagoon is a vision of wildlife with the ducks, pelicans & seagulls. It is a relaxing/serene place to start your day and end your day. The home has a separate formal living room to just get away from it all and the large open kitchen with a separate great room was wonderful for all of our togetherness breakfast time and planning the day. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the short visit and wished we could have stayed much longer to enjoy the quite/peaceful surroundings of Alameda. This home is conveniently located within walking distance to the bus stop, beach or have a picnic in the park and enjoy the shops and restaurants at the South Shore Shopping Center....With 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms there was plenty of room for all. And each one of us agree that the beds were the most comfortable beds we have slept on.....Our girls' said the only thing missing was a full length mirror (but they survived)!!! ha ha ha ha......We ALL strongly recommend this BEAUTIFUL Home to make your SPECIAL MEMORIES as we did!!! THANK YOU So VERY MUCH for Sharing Your Lovely Home!!!!
The pictures didn't really do justice to this house. It is very spacious with a formal and a casual living rooms, a very large kitchen (equipped with everything one might need during a stay), very convivial. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 in the mater brdm). Right on the lagoon, with a superb backyard and cute ducks quacking in the water. 5 minutes walk for the beach, well located on Alameda island. I would strongly recommend this place.
We wanted to visit our daughter and cook a family thanksgiving dinner. This home in Alameda was the perfect place. The kitchen was big with all the modern amenities. The family room and bed rooms were spacious and comfortable. The lovely view towards the lagoon and from the deck was icing on the cake!
My family fell in love with this property once they stepped into the house. Very clean, very comfortable and bright. Exactly what the above described. We got a bit problem with the sink , but the owner fixed it right away. Very helpful and informative. My parent did not want to leave the house during their stay. We enjoyed every minute in the house. We will come back next year for sure.
We flew to the SF Bay Area from Austria with our 4 month old daughter. We were jet-lagged and had horrid traffic on the Bay Bridge coming over to Alameda Island but in the end, when we got to the house - we felt like we'd reached paradise. The house is owned by a lovely German woman and it's obvious that she's put a lot of work into it. Everything is new - we even got a new refrigerator while we were there! The house was clean and tastefully decorated with everything you need. Although there is a kid's room - we couldn't really use it for Laura. So we took one of the mattresses from the bunk bed and put it on the floor in our bedroom and made her a little nest on it. That worked pretty well. We had also taken along a play mat for her to lie on in the living room. The only thing missing for us was a baby bathtub and thick curtains so we could block out the sun. It's wonderful to have so much sunlight - except when you have a baby :) but other than that - everything was perfect! The location is also very practical - you can get to the city by ferry (the traffic is reallllly bad to get over the bridge) and you have a great starting point for driving to Napa, Monterey, Yosemite - whatever. We had lots of grocery shopping stores in the area and it's only a 5 min walk to the water to watch the lights of the city twinkle. We were sad to leave and we'll definitely be back! Vielen Dank Annegret!
This listing is much BETTER than even described! The house was beautiful, fully stocked and clean! The owner went over and above all expectations - very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying here again when we travel to the Bay area. Grocery stores, shopping plaza, restaurants and a park with a beach; all within a few minutes, yet the property was quiet and relaxing! The best of everything!
My husband and I have rented homes or apartments in the area several times, but this one was my favorite. The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The layout is is very open and there are four bedrooms, so we were able to have extended family stay with us, as well as lots of family gatherings. The house had most everything we needed and was situated on a lagoon for a beautiful view. The landscaping in both the front and back of the house is also beautiful. Since this recent vacation was to see family vs. sightseeing, we were in the home often, and it was a pleasure to be there.
This is a beautiful home on a lovely lagoon (If you have small children who have to be monitored not to fall in to water, this is not the place for you.). Our ages ranged from 6 to 77 and everyone enjoyed it. We gathered as a family for a landmark birthday (75th). Kitchen was spacious with great pantry and lots of storage for cooking and all the food we brought for meals; major grocery is 1 mile away for additional items. The house is very warm and cozy. 2 bathrooms is a little tight for a full house but we'd like to go back some time when there are just 2-4 of us. The property is well maintained, very clean, everything functioned properly.
Nice accommodations and great location as it is close to the airport and shopping areas for food or clothes. Everyone enjoyed it thoroughly.
Beautiful, extremely clean and quiet rental. We've rented many properties through VRBO, but few this well-maintained, lovely and immaculate. Anna, the owner, was very kind, friendly and accommodating. We hope to rent this property again!
I would recommend this property to families visiting the Bay area. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and we had beds to spare. The proximity to San Francisco can't be beat and Alameda has all the comforts of home - tons of shopping, restaurants and a beach. The house was spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. The kids really enjoyed the back deck and feeding the ducks in the lagoon. Our other favorite activity was visting the USS Hornet aircraft carrier which is docked in Alameda.
Perfect location to explore San Francisco without being in amongst the hustle and bustle of a big city! The property was perfect in every respect, clean, well equipped, charming and with a most delightful outlook at the rear with undercover area for eating and mini pontoon for sun baking over the water! The owner went out of her way to assist us with each and every enquiry. Thanks Anne for all your help and allowing us to stay in your wonderful house. We definitely recommend it.
We had the privilege of spending a week at this wonderful home. It is extremely comfortable, a short drive to ferries and local restaurants, walking distance to beach and park. Shopping close by as well. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. Very roomy for a family with 2 teenagers, beautifully decorated and location was fantastic, close to SFO and Oakland. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and it is our hope we return soon! Our kids didn't want to leave! This home is a gem! Thankyou Anne for sharing your home with us!
My recent stay was a very memorable, comfortable and relaxing experience. The description was acurate and the location easy to find. Anne was very helpful from start to finish. Her immaculate house was so comfortable, clean and convenient. Cooking at the house was a money saver for my tight budget and my family of five. Being minutes away from Oakland Airport was so convenient and it was great to stay out of the hustle and bustle of SFO while being only a short drive away. I would recommend this stay to any family. Thank you Anne for your hospitality and renting your beautiful home via VRBO! Aloha, Jan
Our family of seven rented this wonderful home in Alameda over the Christmas holidays. It was a perfect space for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying meals together. Plenty of comfortable beds and rooms for everyone to have some private space, and two distinct sitting areas for spreading out. Owner was friendly, communicative, and helpful. We're already looking forward to a future stay.
The house is very beautiful and comfortable. It has Hawaiian decor, which makes it really feel like you are away and relaxed! We had two families staying there very comfortably. Everything in the house is brand new and working! The outdoor area is wonderful. The kitchen is spacious and great for cooking meals. I recommend this house if you are in the Bay Area!
The Lagoon House is a beautifully designed, warm, and perfectly maintained home. We can't say enough good things about it. From the moment we walked in, we were delighted by how well everything worked, how beautiful the views were, and how everything we needed was available. The kitchen is just lovely with clean open lines and state of the art appliances. There were seven of us and we had plenty of room. The owner was very helpful as we planned our trip and very friendly as well. We would not hesitate to recommend this house.
Perfect rental for a great long weekend in the bay area. VERY EASY to get to this house from the Oakland Int Airport, and very easy to get around Alameda, Oakland and over to San Francisco via water taxi or driving. Shopping and dinning were very close. A very big state park is only 2 blocks away that offers all sorts of views of the bay, walks on the beach, etc. The house in down a quiet cul-de-sac with a great front yard to greet you and a very nice covered back yard off of the lagoon to hang out in with a bbq and a sunset! Very big kitchen to cook in , a very large living room that was perfect for reading and relaxing. Master bedroom was great with lots of space and a very nice, updated bathroom. The other rooms were very nice also! Can't say enough about this great property. The only thing i would change about my stay there is that it was too short! Can't wait to come back!
The pictures do this house no justice. It's a must see and a must stay! From the moment you open the front door you'll be astonished. The location is perfect if visiting San Francisco or Oakland. The neighborhood is safe and quiet with a ritzy feel. Now back to the house. The beauty of this house is in the details. From the beautiful hardwood floors to the marble in the bathroom. Every aspect of this house looks like it was upgraded. Then you step out back and realize the lagoon is approx. 10 yards from the back door. Be sure to bring bread to feed the ducks and fish in the lagoon.
This house was everything that we could have wished for. It was spotlessly clean, really well laid out with lots of space and wonderful outdoor areas. We have 3 children, 11, 8 and 6 and we all fitted in just fine. The kitchen was great with loads of storage and easy to use. It was just lovely to sit outside, watch the palm trees swaying on the horizon and feel the breeze. The back garden faces the lagoon and also has the sun until it sets which was fabulous. The children managed to acquire some kayaks and spent many happy hours paddling around the lagoon which was safe with no tide and waves. The owner was a delight to deal with and everything happened as she said it would. The house is a short walk to the beach and the bike paths and we enjoyed sunset bike rides and exploring the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this house. We had a lovely family holiday.
My family of four (our children are 1 and 4) just returned from 5 nights in the Lagoon House. The house was truly lovely, with wonderful outdoor spaces and beautifully appointed inside spaces. There was more than enough room for all of us, and we couldn't have been happier with the setting or the quality of the home. We took a few walks to the nearby park, spent a day in the City, and enjoyed a lot of down time in this beautiful home. The owners were great to work with and accommodated our needs. This house does not have any baby equipment, and since we were traveling from Arizona I didn't want to tote it all, so we rented a crib and high chair from Little Luggage. Super simple solution and a great trip overall!
Très belle escale pour visiter SF et ses environs. La maison est magnifique et le jardin très agréable
