We offer our spare ensuite double bed room in our shared house on the beautiful island of Curaçao. But you won’t be in the room long. The sea views are panoramic and we face a nature conservation zone. Just be yourself, relax under the sun by the pool. The pictures say it all. Enjoy a BBQ, even. It’s our great honour to try to make each stay as pleasurable and memorable as possible. We have our guests at heart, that’s what we do best. We offer a home environment rather than your typical resort. Welcome!
If you’re a naturist we are more than accommodating and (our house is fully protected from neighbors) and you can expect full privacy, discretion and professionalism from us).
We’re both trained in the service industry and have more than 15 years experience taking care of guests, including three years on Airbnb. Hosting is what we do best! We’re super-chilled hosts and are committed to making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
We live in a modern home on the edge of the the new suburb of Grote Berg, directly facing a nature conservation zone. Just a few metres away are the remains of a historically protected wall built by slaves.
We live upstairs and at the back of the house is a gorgeous elevated patio with an inground pool and a completely private garden/sofa/dining area for realaxing. The views from the patio are limitless. To the east you can see the lights of Willemstad, to the north we have sea views. Immediately to the front is the protected nature zone where you’ll see an array of wildlife. On a really clear day you can even see Bonaire! We invite you to help feed the birds who love our garden. There is a charcoal BBQ also. For those who like to be active, a jogging route can be provided around Grote Berg.
Inside the living space, there is a fully equipped kitchen with drip coffee machine, a dining table and and a TV with Netflix and Apple TV. (Apple TV enables you to stream the likes of BBC news, CNN, NOS or basically anything you find online such as freeintertv). Your bathroom has a toilet and shower with reliable (solar) hot water. There is a fan in the bedroom. The bedroom also has airconditioning available at an optional extra cost of $10/night. (For every $10, we donate $3 to a local nature conservation organisation). We struggled with this idea for so long but due to high energy costs we simply can not absorb the cost. Most private accommodations have a prepaid pagatinu system but this is our family home so it wasn’t an option for us.
We care a lot about the environment, so if you’d like to help collect ‘warm up water’ when showering (to water the plants) just let us know. We will also be happy to collect recyclables to deposit at the local collection station.
Our house would suit a solo traveller or couple who prefer to spend the day sunbathing in private, chilling, exploring the west side of the island, with all this has to offer. Think stunning beaches, national parks… but come home to a modern, peaceful and private space within easy reach of the downtown area (15 minute drive). *We may have more space available for larger families so feel free to send us a message and we can talk about the arrangements.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to the highest of cleaning standards. All common areas are cleaned daily and the pool is cleaned and the chemical balance is checked on a regular basis.
Down below deck we offer our detached guest apartment with private entrance (and separate doorbell). So you may see others below but the areas are kept separate and the upstairs area is not visible to them.
Usually, myself, Christopher, I work two weeks on/off abroad then back to Curacao to rest and Mario my co-host/partner works in Curaçao mostly between 12-8pm. Most of the time we are naked, the weather is always hot and sunny here. The whole house is shielded from our neighbours so privacy is guaranteed.
We are chilled guys and adapt to each guest.
Please kindly note that rules state that you may not book for another person. Thanks for your cooperation.
We look forward to hearing from you soon! (Just be mindful that with different time zones and my second job means I can’t always reply immediately but I do make it my top priority!)
Guests have access to all upstairs areas except our bedroom and our bathroom and Coco’s room (the cat) – she needs a safe sanctuary.
Interaction with guests:
We are available anytime to answer questions or to help in anyway. I work two weeks on/off so if I’m around I’m happy to come exploring or hang with you. My partner/co-host works office hours. Cooking we let guests do separately. I’m happy to clean up after my guests, cleaning and washing dishes is not what you come on vavation for!
Other things to note:
We have a cat, Coco, who lives with us. She is quite timid but you’re more than welcome to try to play with her. Also, Grote Berg is a new suburb, occasionally there’s noise from machinery but only sporadically and only during the day. The airport approach path is close but there’s only 5 or so large passenger aircraft arrivals per day so noise is not a big concern. Smoking is allowed only in outside areas.
Due to high water costs, use of the washing machine is $5/wash. It’s a really old semi-automatic so we can recommend nice laundries in town if you prefer. If you prefer to come just during the day, we can arrange that too at $20/day which includes a free locally made gift (by me!).
Restaurant deBuurvrouw is our closest eatery, it’s on the pricy side but great food and amazing ambience. For a relaxed pub meal or just a drink we recommend Williwood, nearby you can spot pink flamingoes (real, not inflatable). Williwood is the home of the goat burger and Martha the proprietor is a wonderful character. 10min drive from the bnb are textile beaches called Cas Abou, Daaibooi and Porto Marie. (Stunning!) Nudity on beaches on the island is officially not allowed but we know some great places to relax on the beach alone and won’t get hassled. Officially we can’t condone breaking the law but in reality deserted beaches are, well, deserted. Further west are national parks, beaches to swim with turtles and great diving spots.
Getting into town is a 15min drive and along the way you’ll pass Centrum, a large US style supermarket. If you need bits and pieces there’s a mini market in our suburb. The airport is just 5mins drive so you max maximise your stay with a late check out.
